Separating Content (aspx) from Code (aspx.cs) in ASP.NET

I would like to know what is the best practice on separating the content of an aspx page (ASP.NET 3.5) from the code (I'm using C#). I have a form that users can type data in - for example they are allowed to enter a percent. If they Otherwise for example I would like to display the following error messages: <p id="errormsg" class="percenthigh">Please enter a percent below 100</p> <p id="errormsg" class="percentnegative">Percent cannot be below 0</p> <p id="errormsg" class="percentnot">This is not a percent</p> So in essence I'm hiding the error messages and showing one depending on what the user input is. I believe this is the best way to seperate the content from the code behind. However, how do I select elements and hide/unhide them depending on the user input? I'm aware I can do a runat="server" on the elements but the problem is that I can't select by class and am limited only to ID's. What workarounds do you recommend? Aside from putting in the values in code behind which is notoriously difficult to debug. Also has this been "fixed" in ASP.NET 4?

Video Capture API remove dialog when capturing from two cameras

I am trying to figure out how to combine the input and output data into the ARX model and then apply it into the BIC (Bayesian Information Criterion) formula. Problem loading scripts from Ajax Response

The problem is I am using get_info() to make a ajax call to Result.lasso and paste the response in div with id 'test'.I am unable to use the sendForm() function from the page where i am calling the get_info(). I have also tried using different versions of jQuery 1.1.1.3 is working fine.But i am facing the problem while using higher versions of jquery. Every time a user registers to our site we need to show a non-disclosure agreement. In order to continue the user has to accept it. My issue is that I have the NDA in all one page and the user does not really read it and accept (like we all do). What I want is to make sure the user reads the NDA and accepts it one he "read" it? What I have now is a simple jqeury validation if the user checks a box and click on accept. then it goes to the next page. The problem is I want some part of the text to be affected by some CSS, but the :collection attribute does not let me put in HTML. Javascript Rich Display WYSIWYG Component/Methodology

quick back story-- I am working on ASP.Net based template editor that lets authors create text templates using Javascript inserted placeholder tags that will be filled in with dynamic text when the templates are used to display the final results. For example the author might create a template like The word [%12#add] was generated dynamically. The application would eventually replace the tag with a dynamic word down the road (though it's not specifically relevant to this post) The word foo was generated dynmamically. Depending on the circumstances, the template may be created in a text input, textarea or a modified version of the Ajax Control Toolkit HTML Editor. There might be 40 or more of these editable elements on the page, so using lots of stripped down or modified HTML editors would probably bog the page down too much. The problem is that the tags such as [%12#add] are displayed inline with the user text and the result is confusing and aesthetically gross. The goal is parse the contens of the source element and when a tags such as [%12#add] are encountered, display something prettier and less cryptic to the user such as a stylable element or image wherever tags such as [%12#add] occur. The application still needs the template text with the tags on postback. So the user might see The word tag placeholder was generated dynamically. but the original template would still be the value of the text input box The word [%12#add] was generated dynamically. It seems HTML editors like the ACT version and FckEditor accomplish this by rendering their output in an IFrame, but rather than kill myself trying to roll a lighter specialized version myself, I thought I'd ask if anyone knows of an existing free component or approach that has already tackled this. With good reason, I don't think S.O. allows HTML formatting, but the bold "tag placeholder" above would ideally be something like tag placeholder.

I need to process a big data file that contains multi-line records, example input: 1 Name Dan 1 Title Professor 1 Address aaa street 1 City xxx city 1 State yyy 1 Phone 123-456-7890 2 Name Luke 2 Title Professor 2 Address bbb street 2 City xxx city 3 Name Tom 3 Title Associate Professor 3 Like Golf 4 Name 4 Title Trainer 4 Likes Running Note that the first integer field is unique and really identifies a whole record. So in the above input I really have 4 records although I dont know how many lines of attributes each records may have. I need to: - identify valid record (must have "Name" and "Title" field) - output the available attributes for each valid record, say "Name", "Title", "Address" are needed fields. Example output: 1 Name Dan 1 Title Professor 1 Address aaa street 2 Name Luke 2 Title Professor 2 Address bbb street 3 Name Tom 3 Title Associate Professor So in the output file, record 4 is removed since it doen't have the "Name" field. Record 3 doesn't have Address field but still being print to the output since it is a valid record that has "Name" and "Title". Can I do this with awk? But how do i identify a whole record using the first "id" field on each line? Thanks a lot to the unix shell script expert for helping me out! :)

I've been working on a J function for a while, that's supposed to scan a list and put consecutive copies of an element into separate, concatenated boxes. My efforts have taken me as far as the function (<;. 2) ((2&(~:/\)),1:) which tests successive list entries for inequality, returns a list of boolean values, and cuts the list into boxes that end each time the number 1 appears. Here's an example application: (<;. 2) ((2&(~:/\)),1:) 1 2 3 3 3 4 1 1 1 +-+-+-----+-+-----+ |1|1|0 0 1|1|0 0 1| +-+-+-----+-+-----+ The task would be finished if I could then replace all those booleans with their corresponding values in the input argument. I've been looking for some kind of mystery function that would let me do something like final =: mysteryfunction @ (<;. 2) ((2&(~:/\)),1:) final 1 2 3 3 3 4 1 1 1 +-+-+-----+-+-----+ |1|2|3 3 3|4|1 1 1| +-+-+-----+-+-----+ In an ideal situation, there would be some way to abstractly represent the nesting pattern generated by (<;. 2) ((2&(~:/\)),1:) to the original input list. (i.e. "This boxed array over here has the first element boxed at depth one, the second element boxed at depth one, the third, fourth, and fifth elements boxed together at depth one,..., so take that unboxed list over there and box it up the same way.") I tried fooling around with ;. , S: , L:, L. and &. to produce that behavior, but I haven't had much luck. Is there some kind of operator or principle I'm missing that could make this happen? It wouldn't surprise me if I were overthinking the whole issue, but I'm running out of ideas.

Google App Engine, parsedatetime and TimeZones

Hey guys, I'm working on a Google App Engine / Django app and I encountered the following problem: In my html I have an input for time. The input is free text - the user types "in 1 hour" or "tomorrow at 11am". The text is then sent to the server in AJAX, which parses it using this python library: http://code.google.com/p/parsedatetime/. Once parsed, the server returns an epoch timestamp of the time. Here is the problem - Google App Engine always runs on UTC. Therefore, lets say that the local time is now 11am and the UTC time is 2am. When I send "now" to the server it will return "2am", which is good because I want the date to be received in UTC time. When I send "in 1 hour" the server will return "3am" which is good, again. However, when I send "at noon" the server will return "12pm" because it thinks that I'm talking about noon UTC - but really I need it to return 3am, which is noon for the request sender.. I can pass on the TZ of the browser that sends the request, but that wont really help me - the parsedatetime library wont take a timezone argument (correct me if I'm wrong). Is there a walk around this? Maybe setting the environments TZ somehow? Thanks!

ASP.NET catching controls from html generated from the database

I have a set of websites that basically do the exact same thing in terms of functionality, the only thing that varies is the css and how the html is laid out. Is there a way to generate the html from a database (ie retreiving the html from a table) and then catching the controls (like buttons, textboxes etc) from the code behind? I'm trying to implement GK's voice chat. I have the underlying network done over wifi instead of bluetooth. Between the simulator and my test device, I was able to accept the invitation.
