  • Setting Connection Parameters via ADO for MSSQL

    - by taspeotis
    Is it possible to set a connection parameter on a connection to SQL Server and have that variable persist throughout the life of the connection? The parameter must be usable by subsequent queries. We have some old Access reports that use a handful of VBScript functions in the SQL queries (let's call them GetStartDate and GetEndDate) that return global variables. Our application would set these before invoking the query and then the queries can return information between date ranges specified in our application. We are looking at changing to a ReportViewer control running in local mode, but I don't see any convenient way to use these custom functions in straight T-SQL. I have two concept solutions (not tested yet), but I would like to know if there is a better way. Below is some psuedo code. Set all variables before running Recordset.OpenForward Connection->Execute("SET @GetStartDate = ..."); Connection->Execute("SET @GetEndDate = ..."); // Repeat for all parameters Will these variables persist to later calls of Recordset->OpenForward? Can anything reset the variables aside from another SET/SELECT @variable statement? Create an ADOCommand "factory" that automatically adds parameters to each ADOCommand object I will use to execute SQL // Command has been previously been created ADOParameter *Parameter1 = Command->CreateParameter("GetStartDate"); ADOParameter *Parameter2 = Command->CreateParameter("GetEndDate"); // Set values and attach etc... What I would like to know if there is something like: Connection->SetParameter("GetStartDate", "20090101"); Connection->SetParameter("GetEndDate", 20100101"); And these will persist for the lifetime of the connection, and the SQL can do something like @GetStartDate to access them. This may be exactly solution #1, if the variables persist throughout the lifetime of the connection.

  • findViewById returns null in new Intent

    - by drozzy
    I am having a problem where in the started Intent, the findViewById returns null. Is there anything special I should know about starting a new intent? It goes something like this for me: //in the MainList class Intent stuffList = new Intent(this, StuffList.class); then in the new Stuff's constructor: public class StuffList extends ListActivity { @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); this.setContentView(R.layout.stuff_list); ... this.setListAdapter(new StuffAdapter(this, my_cursor)); and in the StuffAdapter I do my usual view and data retrieval. Note the line where findViewById returns null: class ViewWrapper{ View base; TextView label = null; ViewWrapper(View base){ this.base = base; } TextView getLabel(){ if(label == null){ label = (TextView)base.findViewById(R.id.my_label); // returns NULL } return label;} } class StuffAdapter extends CursorAdapter{ StuffAdapter(Context context, Cursor cursor){ super(context, cursor); } @Override public View newView(Context context, Cursor cursor, ViewGroup parent) { LayoutInflater inflater = getLayoutInflater(); View row = inflater.inflate(R.layout.stuff_list, parent, false); ViewWrapper wrapper = new ViewWrapper(row); row.setTag(wrapper); return(row); } @Override public void bindView(View row, Context context, Cursor cursor) { ViewWrapper wrapper = (ViewWrapper)row.getTag(); TextView label = wrapper.getLabel(); // also NULL //this throws exception of course label.setText(cursor.getString("title")); } } The curious thing is that in the class that calls intent (MainList class), I do Exactly the same thing (i list a bunch of objects), and it Works! however when I try to do it in an Intent - it can't seem to find the view by id.

  • Separating columnName and Value in C#

    - by KungfuPanda
    hi, I have a employee object as shown below class emp { public int EmpID { get; set; } public string EmpName { get; set; } public int deptID { get; set; } } I need to create a mapping either in this class or a different class to map the properties with column name of my SQL for eg. EmpdID="employeeID" EmpName="EmployeeName" deptID="DepartmentID" When from my asp.net page when I create the employee class and pass it to a function: for eg: emp e=new emp(); e.EmpID=1; e.EmpName="tommy"; e.deptID=10; When the emp object is populated and passed to the buildValues function it should return array of ComumnName(e.g.employeeID):Value(e.g.1),EmployeeName:tommy,DepartmentID:10) string[] values=buildValues(emp); public string[] buildValues(emp e) { string[] values=null; return values; } I have 2 questions: 1. Where do I specify the mappings 2. How do I use the mappings in my buildValues function shown above and build the values string array. I would really appreciate if you can help me with this

  • C#: Easy access to the member of a singleton ICollection<> ?

    - by Rosarch
    I have an ICollection that I know will only ever have one member. Currently, I loop through it, knowing the loop will only ever run once, to grab the value. Is there a cleaner way to do this? I could alter the persistentState object to return single values, but that would complicate the rest of the interface. It's grabbing data from XML, and for the most part ICollections are appropriate. // worldMapLinks ensured to be a singleton ICollection<IDictionary<string, string>> worldMapLinks = persistentState.GetAllOfType("worldMapLink"); string levelName = ""; //worldMapLinks.GetEnumerator().Current['filePath']; // this loop will only run once foreach (IDictionary<string, string> dict in worldMapLinks) // hacky hack hack hack { levelName = dict["filePath"]; } // proceed with levelName loadLevel(levelName); Here is another example of the same issue: // meta will be a singleton ICollection<IDictionary<string, string>> meta = persistentState.GetAllOfType("meta"); foreach (IDictionary<string, string> dict in meta) // this loop should only run once. HACKS. { currentLevelName = dict["name"]; currentLevelCaption = dict["teaserCaption"]; } Yet another example: private Vector2 startPositionOfKV(ICollection<IDictionary<string, string>> dicts) { Vector2 result = new Vector2(); foreach (IDictionary<string, string> dict in dicts) // this loop will only ever run once { result.X = Single.Parse(dict["x"]); result.Y = Single.Parse(dict["y"]); } return result; }

  • HATEOAS - Discovery and URI Templating

    - by Paul Kirby
    I'm designing a HATEOAS API for internal data at my company, but have been having troubles with the discovery of links. Consider the following set of steps for someone to retrieve information about a specific employee in this system: User sends GET to http://coredata/ to get all available resources, returns a number of links including one tagged as rel = "http://coredata/rels/employees" User follows HREF on the rel from the first request, performing a GET at (for example) http://coredata/employees The data returned from this last call is my conundrum and a situation where I've heard mixed suggestions. Here are some of them: That GET will return all employees (with perhaps truncated data), and the client would be responsible for picking the one it wants from that list. That GET would return a number of URI templated links describing how to query / get one employee / get all employees. Something like: "_links": { "http://coredata/rels/employees#RetrieveOne": { "href": "http://coredata/employees/{id}" }, "http://coredata/rels/employees#Query": { "href": "http://coredata/employees{?login,firstName,lastName}" }, "http://coredata/rels/employees#All": { "href": "http://coredata/employees/all" } } I'm a little stuck here with what remains closest to HATEOAS. For option 1, I really do not want to make my clients retrieve all employees every time for the sake of navigation, but I can see how using URI templating in example two introduces some out-of-band knowledge. My other thought was to use the RetrieveOne, Query, and All operations as my cool URLs, but that seems to violate the concept that you should be able to navigate to the resources you want from one base URI. Has anyone else managed to come up with a good way to handle this? Navigation is dead simple once you've retrieved one resource or a set of resources, but it seems very difficult to use for discovery.

  • Java: Implement own message queue (threadsafe)

    - by derMax
    The task is to implement my own messagequeue that is thread safe. My approach: public class MessageQueue { /** * Number of strings (messages) that can be stored in the queue. */ private int capacity; /** * The queue itself, all incoming messages are stored in here. */ private Vector<String> queue = new Vector<String>(capacity); /** * Constructor, initializes the queue. * * @param capacity The number of messages allowed in the queue. */ public MessageQueue(int capacity) { this.capacity = capacity; } /** * Adds a new message to the queue. If the queue is full, it waits until a message is released. * * @param message */ public synchronized void send(String message) { //TODO check } /** * Receives a new message and removes it from the queue. * * @return */ public synchronized String receive() { //TODO check return "0"; } } If the queue is empty and I call remove(), I want to call wait() so that another thread can use the send() method. Respectively, I have to call notifyAll() after every iteration. Question: Is that possible? I mean does it work that when I say wait() in one method of an object, that I can then execute another method of the same object? And another question: Does that seem to be clever?

  • how to implement a really efficient bitvector sorting in python

    - by xiao
    Hello guys! Actually this is an interesting topic from programming pearls, sorting 10 digits telephone numbers in a limited memory with an efficient algorithm. You can find the whole story here What I am interested in is just how fast the implementation could be in python. I have done a naive implementation with the module bitvector. The code is as following: from BitVector import BitVector import timeit import random import time import sys def sort(input_li): return sorted(input_li) def vec_sort(input_li): bv = BitVector( size = len(input_li) ) for i in input_li: bv[i] = 1 res_li = [] for i in range(len(bv)): if bv[i]: res_li.append(i) return res_li if __name__ == "__main__": test_data = range(int(sys.argv[1])) print 'test_data size is:', sys.argv[1] random.shuffle(test_data) start = time.time() sort(test_data) elapsed = (time.time() - start) print "sort function takes " + str(elapsed) start = time.time() vec_sort(test_data) elapsed = (time.time() - start) print "sort function takes " + str(elapsed) start = time.time() vec_sort(test_data) elapsed = (time.time() - start) print "vec_sort function takes " + str(elapsed) I have tested from array size 100 to 10,000,000 in my macbook(2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo 2GB SDRAM), the result is as following: test_data size is: 1000 sort function takes 0.000274896621704 vec_sort function takes 0.00383687019348 test_data size is: 10000 sort function takes 0.00380706787109 vec_sort function takes 0.0371489524841 test_data size is: 100000 sort function takes 0.0520560741425 vec_sort function takes 0.374383926392 test_data size is: 1000000 sort function takes 0.867373943329 vec_sort function takes 3.80475401878 test_data size is: 10000000 sort function takes 12.9204008579 vec_sort function takes 38.8053860664 What disappoints me is that even when the test_data size is 100,000,000, the sort function is still faster than vec_sort. Is there any way to accelerate the vec_sort function?

  • C# How to perform a live xslt transformation on an in memory object?

    - by JL
    I have a function that takes 2 parameters : 1 = XML file, 2 = XSLT file, then performs a transformation and returns the resulting HTML. Here is the function: /// <summary> /// Will apply an XSLT style to any XML file and return the rendered HTML. /// </summary> /// <param name="xmlFileName"> /// The file name of the XML document. /// </param> /// <param name="xslFileName"> /// The file name of the XSL document. /// </param> /// <returns> /// The rendered HTML. /// </returns> public string TransformXml(string xmlFileName, string xslFileName) { var xtr = new XmlTextReader(xmlFileName) { WhitespaceHandling = WhitespaceHandling.None }; var xd = new XmlDocument(); xd.Load(xtr); var xslt = new System.Xml.Xsl.XslCompiledTransform(); xslt.Load(xslFileName); var stm = new MemoryStream(); xslt.Transform(xd, null, stm); stm.Position = 1; var sr = new StreamReader(stm); xtr.Close(); return sr.ReadToEnd(); } I want to change the function not to accept a file for the XML, but instead just an object. The object is exactly compatible with the xslt, if it was serialized to file. But I don't want to have to serialize it to a file first. So to recap : keep the xslt coming from a file, but the xml input should an object I pass and would like to generate the xml from without any file system interaction.

  • Pointers in C# to make int array?

    - by Joshua
    The following C++ program compiles and runs as expected: #include <stdio.h> int main(int argc, char* argv[]) { int* test = new int[10]; for (int i = 0; i < 10; i++) test[i] = i * 10; printf("%d \n", test[5]); // 50 printf("%d \n", 5[test]); // 50 return getchar(); } The closest C# simple example I could make for this question is: using System; class Program { unsafe static int Main(string[] args) { // error CS0029: Cannot implicitly convert type 'int[]' to 'int*' int* test = new int[10]; for (int i = 0; i < 10; i++) test[i] = i * 10; Console.WriteLine(test[5]); // 50 Console.WriteLine(5[test]); // Error return (int)Console.ReadKey().Key; } } So how do I make the pointer?

  • Call to undefined function 'Encrypt' - Attempting to Link OMF Lib

    - by Changeling
    I created a DLL using Visual Studio 2005 VC++ and marked a function for export (for testing). I then took the .LIB file created, and ran it through the COFF2OMF converter program bundled with Borland C++ Builder 5 and it returns the following: C:\>coff2omf -v -lib:ms MACEncryption.lib MACEncryption2.lib COFF to OMF Converter Version 1.0.0.74 Copyright (c) 1999, 2000 Inprise Corporat ion Internal name Imported name ------------- ------------- ??0CMACEncryptionApp@@QAE@XZ ?Decrypt@CMACEncryptionApp@@QAEXXZ Encrypt Encrypt@0 I added the MACEncryption2.lib file to my C++ Builder 5 Project by going to Project-Add to Project.. and selecting the library. The application links, but it cannot find the Encrypt function that I am declaring for export as follows in the VC++ code: extern "C" __declspec(dllexport) BSTR* __stdcall Encrypt() { CoInitialize(NULL); EncryptionManager::_EncryptionManagerPtr pDotNetCOMPtr; HRESULT hRes = pDotNetCOMPtr.CreateInstance(EncryptionManager::CLSID_EncryptionManager); if (hRes == S_OK) { BSTR* str = new BSTR; BSTR filePath = (BSTR)"C:\\ICVER001.REQ"; BSTR encrypt = (BSTR)"\"test"; pDotNetCOMPtr->EncryptThirdPartyMessage(filePath, encrypt, str); return str; } return NULL; CoUninitialize (); } C++ Builder Code: __fastcall TForm1::TForm1(TComponent* Owner) : TForm(Owner) { Encrypt(); } (Yes I know I am encapsulating another DLL.. I am doing this for a reason since Borland can't 'see' the .NET DLL definitions) Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong so I can figure out why Builder cannot find the function Encrypt() ?

  • Is there a tool I can use to generate interfaces and wrappers for object mocking in c#

    - by fostandy
    Given a class like System.Timers.Timer, or ANY managed class (whether user defined, from the .net framework, or some 3rd party library) is there some program I can use to (a) generate an interface based on this class and (b) generate a wrapper for the given class? for example if I have a public class Foo { public object MyProperty { get { ... } set { ... } } public int SomeMethod(object a) { ... } } it will create an interface interface IFoo { object MyProperty { get; set; } int SomeMethod(object a) { ... } } and maybe even a wrapper class FooWrap { // something for relay constructor here ... Foo _me; public object MyProperty { get { return _me.MyProperty; } set { _me.MyProperty = value; } } public int SomeMethod(object a) { return _me.SomeMethod(); } } Obviously there's stuff I haven't thought about like events, generics etc. I want a DWIMNWIS-PSICHTO(-Plus-Stuff-I-Clearly-Haven't-Thought-Of). I'm aware resharper can be used to extract an interface but I've only been able to use this on my own classes. Aside: Wow, it is amazing how simply becoming accustomed to a previously 'unacceptable' idea eventually gives it legitimacy. A year ago the idea of having to create interfaces for all objects I want to mock and adopting an injection framework would have seemed like the height of madness. It turns out that while it's not quite death and taxes, it is sparta. I am aware of and have used typemock. It certainly is the work of elvish wizards. One day when $800 does not seem like quite so much money I intend to buy it.

  • APC values randomly disappear

    - by Michael
    I'm using APC for storing a map of class names to class file paths. I build the map like this in my autoload function: $class_paths = apc_fetch('class_paths'); // If the class path is stored in application cache - search finished. if (isset($class_paths[$class])) { return require_once $class_paths[$class]; // Otherwise search in known places } else { // List of places to look for class $paths = array( '/src/', '/modules/', '/libs/', ); // Search directories and store path in cache if found. foreach ($paths as $path) { $file = DOC_ROOT . $path . $class . '.php'; if (file_exists($file)) { echo 'File was found in => ' . $file . '<br />'; $class_paths[$class] = $file; apc_store('class_paths', $class_paths); return require_once $file; } } } I can see as more and more classes are loaded, they are added to the map, but at some point the apc_fetch returns NULL in the middle of a page request, instead of returning the map. Getting => class_paths Array ( [MCS\CMS\Helper\LayoutHelper] => /Users/mbl/Documents/Projects/mcs_ibob/core/trunk/src/MCS/CMS/Helper/LayoutHelper.php [MCS\CMS\Model\Spot] => /Users/mbl/Documents/Projects/mcs_ibob/core/trunk/src/MCS/CMS/Model/Spot.php ) Getting => class_paths {null} Many times the cached value will also be gone between page requests. What could be the reason for this? I'm using APC as an extension (PECL) running PHP 5.3.

  • PHP Serialize Function - Adding serialized data to mysql and then fetch and display

    - by Abhilash Shukla
    I want to know whether the PHP serialize function is 100% secure, also if we store serialized data into a database and want to do something after fetching it, will it be a nice way. For example:- I have a website with different user privileges, now i want to store the permissions settings for a particular privilege to my database (This data i want to store is to be done through php serialize function), now when a user logs in i want to fetch this data and set the privilege for the customer. Now i am ok to do this thing, what i want to know is, whether it is the best way to do or something more efficient can be done. Also, i was going through php manual and found this code, can anybody explain me a bit what's happening in this code:- [Specially why base64_encode is used?] <?php mySerialize( $obj ) { return base64_encode(gzcompress(serialize($obj))); } myUnserialize( $txt ) { return unserialize(gzuncompress(base64_decode($txt))); } ?> Also if somebody can provide me their own code to show me to do this thing in the most efficient manner. Thanks.

    Hi, I am trying to deserialize <graph> <node> <node> <node></node> </node> </node> <node> <node> <node></node> </node> </node> </graph> with [XmlRoot("graph")] class graph { List<node> _children = new List<node>(); [XmlElement("node")] public Node[] node { get { return _children.ToArray(); } set { foreach(node n in value) children.add(n) } }; } class node { List<node> _children = new List<node>(); [XmlElement("node")] public Node[] node { get { return _children.ToArray(); } set { foreach(node n in value) children.add(n) } }; } but it keeps saying object not created, null reference encountered when trying to set children nodes. What is wrong above? Thanks in advance~

  • DATE_FORMAT in DQL symfon2

    - by schurtertom
    I would like to use some MySQL functions such as DATE_FORMAT in my QueryBuilder. I saw this post did not understand totally how I should achieve it: SELECT DISTINCT YEAR Doctrine class SubmissionManuscriptRepository extends EntityRepository { public function findLayoutDoneSubmissions( $fromDate, $endDate, $journals ) { if( true === is_null($fromDate) ) return null; $commQB = $this->createQueryBuilder( 'c' ) ->join('c.submission_logs', 'k') ->select("DATE_FORMAT(k.log_date,'%Y-%m-%d')") ->addSelect('c.journal_id') ->addSelect('COUNT(c.journal_id) AS numArticles'); $commQB->where("k.hash_key = c.hash_key"); $commQB->andWhere("k.log_date >= '$fromDate'"); $commQB->andWhere("k.log_date <= '$endDate'"); if( $journals != null && is_array($journals) && count($journals)>0 ) $commQB->andWhere("c.journal_id in (" . implode(",", $journals) . ")"); $commQB->andWhere("k.new_status = '20'"); $commQB->orderBy("k.log_date", "ASC"); $commQB->groupBy("c.hash_key"); $commQB->addGroupBy("c.journal_id"); $commQB->addGroupBy("DATE_FORMAT(k.log_date,'%Y-%m-%d')"); return $commQB->getQuery()->getResult(); } } Entity SubmissionManuscript /** * MDPI\SusyBundle\Entity\SubmissionManuscript * * @ORM\Entity(repositoryClass="MDPI\SusyBundle\Repository\SubmissionManuscriptRepository") * @ORM\Table(name="submission_manuscript") * @ORM\HasLifecycleCallbacks() */ class SubmissionManuscript { ... /** * @ORM\OneToMany(targetEntity="SubmissionManuscriptLog", mappedBy="submission_manuscript") */ protected $submission_logs; ... } Entity SubmissionManuscriptLog /** * MDPI\SusyBundle\Entity\SubmissionManuscriptLog * * @ORM\Entity(repositoryClass="MDPI\SusyBundle\Repository\SubmissionManuscriptLogRepository") * @ORM\Table(name="submission_manuscript_log") * @ORM\HasLifecycleCallbacks() */ class SubmissionManuscriptLog { ... /** * @ORM\ManyToOne(targetEntity="SubmissionManuscript", inversedBy="submission_logs") * @ORM\JoinColumn(name="hash_key", referencedColumnName="hash_key") */ protected $submission_manuscript; ... } any help I would appreciate a lot. EDIT 1 I have now successfully be able to add the Custom Function DATE_FORMAT. But now if I try with my Group By I get the following Error: [Semantical Error] line 0, col 614 near '(k.logdate,'%Y-%m-%d')': Error: Cannot group by undefined identification variable. Anyone knows about this?

  • jQuery Validation plugin results in empty AJAX POST

    - by user305412
    Hi, I have tried to solve this issue for at couple of days with no luck. I have a form, where I use the validation plugin, and when I try to submit it, it submits empty vars. Now, if I remove the validation, everything works fine. Here is my implementation: $(document).ready(function(){ $("#myForm").validate({ rules: { field1: { required: true, minlength: 5 }, field2: { required: true, minlength: 10 } }, messages: { field1: "this is required", field2: "this is required", }, errorLabelContainer: $("#validate_msg"), invalidHandler: function(e, validator) { var errors = validator.numberOfInvalids(); if (errors) { $("#validate_div").show(); } }, onkeyup: false, success: false, submitHandler: function(form) { doAjaxPost(form); } }); }); function doAjaxPost(form) { // do some stuff $(form).ajaxSubmit(); return false; } As I wrote this does not work when I have my validation, BUT if I remove that, and just add an onsubmit="doAjaxPost(this.form); return false"; to my HTML form, it works - any clue??? Now here is the funny thing, everything works as it should in Safari, but not in firefox 3.6.2 (Mac OS X)!

  • MySQL Stored Procedures not working with SELECT (basic question)

    - by TMG
    Hello, I am using a platform (perfectforms) that requires me to use stored procedures for most of my queries, and having never used stored procedures, I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. The following statement executes without error: DELIMITER // DROP PROCEDURE IF EXISTS test_db.test_proc// CREATE PROCEDURE test_db.test_proc() SELECT 'foo'; // DELIMITER ; But when I try to call it using: CALL test_proc(); I get the following error: #1312 - PROCEDURE test_db.test_proc can't return a result set in the given context I am executing these statements from within phpmyadmin 3.2.4, PHP Version 5.2.12 and the mysql server version is 5.0.89-community. When I write a stored procedure that returns a parameter, and then select it, things work fine (e.g.): DELIMITER // DROP PROCEDURE IF EXISTS test_db.get_sum// CREATE PROCEDURE test_db.get_sum(out total int) BEGIN SELECT SUM(field1) INTO total FROM test_db.test_table; END // DELIMITER ; works fine, and when I call it: CALL get_sum(@t); SELECT @t; I get the sum no problem. Ultimately, what I need to do is have a fancy SELECT statement wrapped up in a stored procedure, so I can call it, and return multiple rows of multiple fields. For now I'm just trying to get any select working. Any help is greatly appreciated.

  • Excel Automation Addin UDFs not accesible

    - by Eric
    I created the following automation addin: namespace AutomationAddin { [Guid("6652EC43-B48C-428a-A32A-5F2E89B9F305")] [ClassInterface(ClassInterfaceType.AutoDual)] [ComVisible(true)] public class MyFunctions { public MyFunctions() { } #region UDFs public string ToUpperCase(string input) { return input.ToUpper(); } #endregion [ComRegisterFunctionAttribute] public static void RegisterFunction(Type type) { Registry.ClassesRoot.CreateSubKey( GetSubKeyName(type, "Programmable")); RegistryKey key = Registry.ClassesRoot.OpenSubKey( GetSubKeyName(type, "InprocServer32"), true); key.SetValue("", System.Environment.SystemDirectory + @"\mscoree.dll", RegistryValueKind.String); } [ComUnregisterFunctionAttribute] public static void UnregisterFunction(Type type) { Registry.ClassesRoot.DeleteSubKey( GetSubKeyName(type, "Programmable"), false); } private static string GetSubKeyName(Type type, string subKeyName) { System.Text.StringBuilder s = new System.Text.StringBuilder(); s.Append(@"CLSID\{"); s.Append(type.GUID.ToString().ToUpper()); s.Append(@"}\"); s.Append(subKeyName); return s.ToString(); } } } I build it and it registers just fine. I open excel 2003, go to tools-Add-ins, click on the automation button and the addin appears in the list. I add it and it shows up in the addins list. but, the functions themselves don't appear. If I type it in it doesn't work and if I look in the function wizard, my addin doesn't show up as a category and the functions are not in the list. I am using excel 2003 on windows 7 x86. I built the project with visual studio 2010. This addin worked fine on windows xp built with visual studio 2008.

  • How to use SQLErrorCodeSQLExceptionTranslator and DAO class with @Repository in Spring?

    - by GuidoMB
    I'm using Spring 3.0.2 and I have a class called MovieDAO that uses JDBC to handle the db. I have set the @Repository annotations and I want to convert the SQLException to the Spring's DataAccessException I have the following example: @Repository public class JDBCCommentDAO implements CommentDAO { static JDBCCommentDAO instance; ConnectionManager connectionManager; private JDBCCommentDAO() { connectionManager = new ConnectionManager("org.postgresql.Driver", "postgres", "postgres"); } static public synchronized JDBCCommentDAO getInstance() { if (instance == null) instance = new JDBCCommentDAO(); return instance; } @Override public Collection<Comment> getComments(User user) throws DAOException { Collection<Comment> comments = new ArrayList<Comment>(); try { String query = "SELECT * FROM Comments WHERE Comments.userId = ?"; Connection conn = connectionManager.getConnection(); PreparedStatement stmt = conn.prepareStatement(query); stmt = conn.prepareStatement(query); stmt.setInt(1, user.getId()); ResultSet result = stmt.executeQuery(); while (result.next()) { Movie movie = JDBCMovieDAO.getInstance().getLightMovie(result.getInt("movie")); comments.add(new Comment(result.getString("text"), result.getInt("score"), user, result.getDate("date"), movie)); } connectionManager.closeConnection(conn); } catch (SQLException e) { e.printStackTrace(); //CONVERT TO DATAACCESSEXCEPTION } return comments; } } I Don't know how to get the Translator and I don't want to extends any Spring class, because that is why I'm using the @Repository annotation
