  • Best way to mock WCF Client proxy

    Are there any ways to mock a WCF client proxy using Rhino mocks framework so I have access to the Channel property? I am trying to unit test Proxy.Close() method but as the proxy is constructed using the abstract base class ClientBast which has the ICommunication interface, my unit test is failing as the internal infrastructure of the class is absent in the mock object. Any good ways with code samples would be greatly appreciated.

  • Fixing predicated NSFetchedResultsController/NSFetchRequest performance with SQLite backend?

    I have a series of NSFetchedResultsControllers powering some table views, and their performance on device was abysmal, on the order of seconds. Since it all runs on main thread, it's blocking my app at startup, which is not great. I investigated and turns out the predicate is the problem: NSPredicate *somePredicate = [NSPredicate predicateWithFormat:@"ANY somethings == %@", something]; [fetchRequest setPredicate:somePredicate]; I.e the fetch entity, call it "things", has a many-to-many relation with entity "something". This predicate is a filter that limits the results to only things that have a relation with a particular "something". When I removed the predicate for testing, fetch time (the initial performFetch: call) dropped (for some extreme cases) from 4 seconds to around 100ms or less, which is acceptable. I am troubled by this, though, as it negates a lot of the benefit I was hoping to gain with Core Data and NSFRC, which otherwise seems like a powerful tool. So, my question is, how can I optimize this performance? Am I using the predicate wrong? Should I modify the model/schema somehow? And what other ways there are to fix this? Is this kind of degraded performance to be expected? (There are on the order of hundreds of <1KB objects.) (Apart from going to a binary store where this becomes a non-issue, so I might do that. Binary store performance is consistently ~100ms for the above 200-object predicated query.)     Hi When Compiling my Web Deployment Project which references a Asp.Net project with a App_Browsers folder I get the following compilation error: C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\aspnet_compiler.exe -v /[PROJECTNAME].csproj -p "[FILEPATH]" -u -f -d .\TempBuildDir\ ASPNETCOMPILER : error ASPRUNTIME: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. If I remove the App_Browsers folder everything works perfectly. Any help would be appreciated.

  • How to populate a core data store programmatically?

    I have ran out of hairs to pull with a crash in this routine that populates a core data store from a 9000+ line plist file. The crash happened at the very end of the routine inside the call to [managedObjectContext save:&error]. While if I save after every object insertion, the crash doesn't happen. Of course, saving after every object insertion totally kills the performance (from less than a second to many minutes). I modified my code so that it saves every K insertions, and the crash happens as soon as K = 2. The crash is an out-of-bound exception for an NSArray: Serious application error. Exception was caught during Core Data change processing: *** -[NSCFArray objectAtIndex:]: index (1) beyond bounds (1) with userInfo (null) Also maybe relevant, when the exception happen, my fetch result controller controllerDidChangeContent: delegate routine is in the call stack. It simply calls my table view endUpdate routine. I am now running out of ideas. How am I supposed to populate a core data store with a table view? My goal is to have a silverlight application 100% backed by F#; the examples that are referenced as working are mostly C# silverlight apps calling F# Libraries. Which in practice should be fine - but I am really trying to impress my girlfriend :)

    Hi everyone, So this is kind of a crazy problem to me, but I've had no luck Googling it. I have an ASP.NET MVC 2 application (under .NET 4.0) running locally just fine. When I upload it to my production server (under shared hosting) I get Compiler Error Message: CS1061: 'System.Web.Mvc.HtmlHelper' does not contain a definition for 'TextBoxFor' and no extension method 'TextBoxFor' accepting a first argument of type 'System.Web.Mvc.HtmlHelper' could be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?) for this code: <%= this.Html.TextBoxFor(person => person.LastName) %> This is one of the new standard extension methods in MVC 2. I'm thinking things like ORMs (NHibernate, EF), logging frameworks (Log4Net), IoC containers, rules engines, UI frameworks (Telerik), etc. Are there certain technologies that you always bring in regardless of project type / complexity? Are there certain others that you bring in sometimes when complexity warrants it? This seems like a moving target, and I'm curious what people are using as their "basic setup" nowadays.

    Hi at all, I have 2 site: example.com and exampletwo.com I want that when a user login on example.com then he is automatically authenticated also on exampletwo.com How can I do that ? I use Django + Nginx on first website and Tornado framework + Tornado server on second website. Thanks ;) . P.S.     Hi All I would like to know if there is a simple way of measuring the time it takes from when you hit Enter, to the time where a web page is fully displayed/loaded. Would I need to use a Timer for this, or are there existing features built into the Web Browser control (or .net framework) that I have missed out on? Thank you
