  • IDataRecord.IsDBNull causes an System.OverflowException (Arithmetic Overflow)

    - by Ciddan
    Hi! I have a OdbcDataReader that gets data from a database and returns a set of records. The code that executes the query looks as follows: OdbcDataReader reader = command.ExecuteReader(); while (reader.Read()) { yield return reader.AsMovexProduct(); } The method returns an IEnumerable of a custom type (MovexProduct). The convertion from an IDataRecord to my custom type MovexProduct happens in an extension-method that looks like this (abbrev.): public static MovexProduct AsMovexProduct(this IDataRecord record) { var movexProduct = new MovexProduct { ItemNumber = record.GetString(0).Trim(), Name = record.GetString(1).Trim(), Category = record.GetString(2).Trim(), ItemType = record.GetString(3).Trim() }; if (!record.IsDBNull(4)) movexProduct.Status1 = int.Parse(record.GetString(4).Trim()); // Additional properties with IsDBNull checks follow here. return movexProduct; } As soon as I hit the if (!record.IsDBNull(4)) I get an OverflowException with the exception message "Arithmetic operation resulted in an overflow." StackTrace: System.OverflowException was unhandled by user code Message=Arithmetic operation resulted in an overflow. Source=System.Data StackTrace: at System.Data.Odbc.OdbcDataReader.GetSqlType(Int32 i) at System.Data.Odbc.OdbcDataReader.GetValue(Int32 i) at System.Data.Odbc.OdbcDataReader.IsDBNull(Int32 i) at JulaAil.DataService.Movex.Data.ExtensionMethods.AsMovexProduct(IDataRecord record) [...] I've never encountered this problem before and I cannot figure out why I get it. I have verified that the record exists and that it contains data and that the indexes I provide are correct. I should also mention that I get the same exception if I change the if-statemnt to this: if (record.GetString(4) != null). What does work is encapsulating the property-assignment in a try {} catch (NullReferenceException) {} block - but that can lead to performance-loss (can it not?). I am running the x64 version of Visual Studio and I'm using a 64-bit odbc driver. Has anyone else come across this? Any suggestions as to how I could solve / get around this issue? Many thanks!

    Hi I am having getting an exception when trying to initialize ActiveRecord and I cannot figure out what I am missing. • Castle Windsor and its own configuration file

    - by Coppermill
    I am using Castle Windsor for IoC, and have the configuration held in the web.config/app.config, using the following factory: public static TYPE Factory(string component) { var windsorContainer = new WindsorContainer(new XmlInterpreter()); var service = windsorContainer.Resolve<TYPE>(component); if (service == null) throw new ArgumentNullException(string.Format("Unable to find container {0}", component)); return service; } and my web.config looking like this: <configuration> <configSections> <section name="castle" type="Castle.Windsor.Configuration.AppDomain.CastleSectionHandler, Castle.Windsor"/> </configSections> <castle> <components> <component id="Data" service="Data.IData, Data" type="Data.DataService, Data"/> </components> </castle> <appSettings>....... Which works fine, but I'd like to place the configuration for Castle Windsor in a file called castle.config. How do I do this?

  • HRESULT of 0x806D0005 from Microsoft's Dia2Lib

    - by Aeolien
    I'm trying to read a PDB file into a C# application. When I call loadDataFromPdb or loadAndValidateDataFromPdb with a file that I know exists, I get an HRESULT of 0x806D0005. Unfortunately, I have no idea what that means. I have the list of possible results [here](http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/2008hf0e(v=VS.80).aspx) but I'm afraid I can't conclusively determine the problem. Does anybody know what I'm doing wrong? Or at least a method of checking what that corresponds to? Exception: System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x806D0005): Exception from HRESULT: 0x806D0005 at Dia2Lib.DiaSourceClass.loadDataFromPdb(String pdbPath) Code Sample: public static void LoadSymbolsForModule(uint baseAddress, uint size, uint timeStamp, DM_PDB_SIGNATURE signature) { IDiaDataSource m_source = new DiaSourceClass(); //m_source.loadAndValidateDataFromPdb(signature.path, ref signature.guid, 0, signature.age); m_source.loadDataFromPdb(signature.path); IDiaSession m_session; m_source.openSession(out m_session); m_session.loadAddress = baseAddress; modules.Add(new Module(baseAddress, size, m_session)); } Thanks in advance, guys. • Unit testing Monorail's RenderText method

    - by MikeWyatt
    I'm doing some maintenance on an older web application written in Monorail v1.0.3. I want to unit test an action that uses RenderText(). How do I extract the content in my test? Reading from controller.Response.OutputStream doesn't work, since the response stream is either not setup properly in PrepareController(), or is closed in RenderText(). Example Action public DeleteFoo( int id ) { var success= false; var foo = Service.Get<Foo>( id ); if( foo != null && CurrentUser.IsInRole( "CanDeleteFoo" ) ) { Service.Delete<Foo>( id ); success = true; } CancelView(); RenderText( "{ success: " + success + " }" ); } Example Test (using Moq) [Test] public void DeleteFoo() { var controller = new FooController (); PrepareController ( controller ); var foo = new Foo { Id = 123 }; var mockService = new Mock < Service > (); mockService.Setup ( s => s.Get<Foo> ( foo.Id ) ).Returns ( foo ); controller.Service = mockService.Object; controller.DeleteTicket ( foo.Id ); mockService.Verify ( s => s.Delete<Foo> ( foo.Id ) ); Assert.AreEqual ( "{success:true}", GetResponse ( Response ) ); } // response.OutputStream.Seek throws an "System.ObjectDisposedException: Cannot access a closed Stream." exception private static string GetResponse( IResponse response ) { response.OutputStream.Seek ( 0, SeekOrigin.Begin ); var buffer = new byte[response.OutputStream.Length]; response.OutputStream.Read ( buffer, 0, buffer.Length ); return Encoding.ASCII.GetString ( buffer ); }

  • Binding property to Silverlight dependency property independent of DataContext

    - by Simon_Weaver
    I'm trying to make an Address control that has an IsReadOnly property, which will make every TextBox inside read only when set to true. <my:AddressControl Grid.Column="1" Margin="5" IsReadOnly="True"/> I've managed to do this just fine with a dependency property and it works. Here's a simple class with the dependency property declared : public partial class AddressControl : UserControl { public AddressControl() { InitializeComponent(); this.DataContext = this; } public static readonly DependencyProperty IsReadOnlyProperty = DependencyProperty.Register("IsReadOnly", typeof(bool), typeof(AddressControl), null); public bool IsReadOnly { get { return (bool)GetValue(IsReadOnlyProperty); } set { SetValue(IsReadOnlyProperty, value); } } } In the XAML for this codebehind file I have a Textbox for each address line: <TextBox IsReadOnly="{Binding IsReadOnly}" Text="{Binding City, Mode=TwoWay}"/> <TextBox IsReadOnly="{Binding IsReadOnly}" Text="{Binding State, Mode=TwoWay}"/> <TextBox IsReadOnly="{Binding IsReadOnly}" Text="{Binding Zip, Mode=TwoWay}"/> Like i said this works just fine. The problem is that the Address control itself is bound to its parent object (I have several addresses I am binding). <my:AddressControl DataContext="{Binding ShippingAddress, Mode=TwoWay}" IsReadOnly="True"> <my:AddressControl DataContext="{Binding BillingAddress, Mode=TwoWay}" IsReadOnly="True"> The problem is that as soon as I set DataContext to something other than 'this' then the binding for IsReadOnly breaks. Not surprising because its looking for IsReadOnly on the Address data entity and it doesn't exist or belong there. I've tried just about every combination of binding attributes to get IsReadOnly to bind to the AddressControl obejct but can't get it working. I've tried things like this, but I can't get IsReadOnly to bind independently to the AddressControl property instead of its DataContext. <TextBox IsReadOnly="{Binding RelativeSource={RelativeSource Self}, Path=IsReadOnlyProperty}" Text="{Binding City, Mode=TwoWay}" /> I think I'm pretty close. What am I doing wrong?

  • Logic inside an enum

    - by Vivin Paliath
    My colleagues and I were having a discussion regarding logic in enums. My personal preference is to not have any sort of logic in Java enums (although Java provides the ability to do that). The discussion in this cased centered around having a convenience method inside the enum that returned a map: public enum PackageTypes { Letter("01", "Letter"), .. .. Tube("02", "Packaging Tube"); private String packageCode; private String packageDescription; .. .. public static Map<String, String> toMap() { Map<String, String> map = new LinkedHashMap<String, String>(); for(PackageType packageType : PackageType.values()) { map.put(packageType.getPackageCode(), packageType.getPackageDescription()); } return map; } } My personal preference is to pull this out into a service. The argument for having the method inside the enum centered around convenience. The idea was that you don't have to go to a service to get it, but can query the enum directly. My argument centered around separation of concern and abstracting any kind of logic out to a service. I didn't think "convenience" was a strong argument to put this method inside an enum. From a best-practices perspective, which one is better? Or does it simply come down to a matter of personal preference and code style?

  • How to Process Lambda Expressions Passed as Argument Into Method - C# .NET 3.5

    - by Sunday Ironfoot
    My knowledge of Lambda expressions is a bit shaky, while I can write code that uses Lambda expressions (aka LINQ), I'm trying to write my own method that takes a few arguments that are of type Lambda Expression. Background: I'm trying to write a method that returns a Tree Collection of objects of type TreeItem from literally ANY other object type. I have the following so far: public class TreeItem { public string Id { get; set; } public string Text { get; set; } public TreeItem Parent { get; protected set; } public IList<TreeItem> Children { get { // Implementation that returns custom TreeItemCollection type } } public static IList<TreeItem> GetTreeFromObject<T>(IList<T> items, Expression<Func<T, string>> id, Expression<Func<T, string>> text, Expression<Func<T, IList<T>>> childProperty) where T : class { foreach (T item in items) { // Errrm!?? What do I do now? } return null; } } ...which can be called via... IList<TreeItem> treeItems = TreeItem.GetTreeFromObject<Category>( categories, c => c.Id, c => c.Name, c => c.ChildCategories); I could replace the Expressions with string values, and just use reflection, but I'm trying to avoid this as I want to make it strongly typed. My reasons for doing this is that I have a control that accepts a List of type TreeItem, whereas I have dozens of different types that are all in a tree like structure, and don't want to write seperate conversion methods for each type (trying to adhere to the DRY principle). Am I going about this the right way? Is there a better way of doing this perhaps?

Because the runnable is running on it's own thread, servlet started that thread, why an error in that thread will cause the servlet to stop ? public class License_Manager extends JPanel implements Runnable { License_Manager() { Do_GUI(); ... start(); } public static void main(String[] args) { // Schedule a job for the event-dispatching thread : creating and showing this application's GUI. javax.swing.SwingUtilities.invokeLater(new Runnable() { public void run() { Create_And_Show_GUI(); } }); } } public class PayPal_Servlet extends HttpServlet { public void init(ServletConfig config) throws ServletException { super.init(config); License_Manager.main(null); } protected void processRequest(HttpServletRequest request,HttpServletResponse response) throws ServletException,IOException { } } And besides the error don't even have anything to do with my code, it looks like this : Exception in thread "AWT-EventQueue-0" java.lang.ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException: 17 = 0 at java.util.Vector.elementAt(Vector.java:427) at javax.swing.DefaultListModel.getElementAt(DefaultListModel.java:70) at javax.swing.plaf.basic.BasicListUI.paintCell(BasicListUI.java:191) at javax.swing.plaf.basic.BasicListUI.paintImpl(BasicListUI.java:304) at javax.swing.plaf.basic.BasicListUI.paint(BasicListUI.java:227) at javax.swing.plaf.ComponentUI.update(ComponentUI.java:143) at javax.swing.JComponent.paintComponent(JComponent.java:763) at javax.swing.JComponent.paint(JComponent.java:1029) at javax.swing.JComponent.paintChildren(JComponent.java:864) at javax.swing.JComponent.paint(JComponent.java:1038) at javax.swing.JViewport.paint(JViewport.java:747) at javax.swing.JComponent.paintChildren(JComponent.java:864) at javax.swing.JComponent.paint(JComponent.java:1038) at javax.swing.JComponent.paintToOffscreen(JComponent.java:5124) at javax.swing.BufferStrategyPaintManager.paint(BufferStrategyPaintManager.java:278) at javax.swing.RepaintManager.paint(RepaintManager.java:1220) at javax.swing.JComponent._paintImmediately(JComponent.java:5072) at javax.swing.JComponent.paintImmediately(JComponent.java:4882) at javax.swing.RepaintManager.paintDirtyRegions(RepaintManager.java:803) at javax.swing.RepaintManager.paintDirtyRegions(RepaintManager.java:714) at javax.swing.RepaintManager.seqPaintDirtyRegions(RepaintManager.java:694) at javax.swing.SystemEventQueueUtilities$ComponentWorkRequest.run(SystemEventQueueUtilities.java:128) at java.awt.event.InvocationEvent.dispatch(InvocationEvent.java:209) at java.awt.EventQueue.dispatchEvent(EventQueue.java:597) at java.awt.EventDispatchThread.pumpOneEventForFilters(EventDispatchThread.java:269) at java.awt.EventDispatchThread.pumpEventsForFilter(EventDispatchThread.java:184) at java.awt.EventDispatchThread.pumpEventsForHierarchy(EventDispatchThread.java:174) at java.awt.EventDispatchThread.pumpEvents(EventDispatchThread.java:169) at java.awt.EventDispatchThread.pumpEvents(EventDispatchThread.java:161) at java.awt.EventDispatchThread.run(EventDispatchThread.java:122)

  • Why doesn't this method print its text? (java)

    - by David
    here's the method: public static int chooseStrat () { String[] strats = new String[1] ; strats[0] = "0 - Blob" ; int n ; boolean a = false ; while (a == false) ; { System.out.println ("Which strategy should the AI use?(#)") ; printArrayS (strats) ; n = getInt () ; System.out.println ("you selected "+n+"."+" are you sure you want the computer to use the "+ strats[n]+ " ?(Y/N)") ; String c = getIns () ; while ((((!( (c.equals ("y")) || (c.equals ("Y")) )) && (!( (c.equals ("n")) || (c.equals ("N")) ) ) ))) ; { System.out.println ("try again") ; c = getIns () ; } if ( (c.equals ("Y")) || (c.equals ("y")) ) a = true ; } return n ; } When i run this it never prints "Which strategy should the AI use?(#)" it just tries to get an entry from the keyboard. why does it do this?

  • Creating Drill-Down Detail UITableView from JSON NSDictionary

    - by Michael Robinson
    I'm have a load of trouble finding out how to do this, I want to show this in a UITableDetailView (Drill-Down style) with each item in a different cell. All of the things I've read all show how to load a single image on the detail instead of showing as a UITableView. Does the dictionary have to have "children" in order to load correctly? Here is the code for the first view creating *dict from the JSON rowsArray. I guess what I'm looking for is what to put in the FollowingDetailViewController.m to see the rest of *dict contents, so when selecting a row, it loads the rest of the *dict. I have rowsArray coming back as follows: '{ loginName = Johnson; memberid = 39; name = Kris; age = ;}, etc,etc... Thanks, // SET UP TABLE & CELLS - (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { static NSString *CellIdentifier = @"Cell"; UITableViewCell *cell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:CellIdentifier]; if (cell == nil) { cell = [[[UITableViewCell alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewCellStyleSubtitle reuseIdentifier:CellIdentifier] autorelease]; } NSDictionary *dict = [rowsArray objectAtIndex: indexPath.row]; cell.textLabel.text = [dict objectForKey:@"name"]; cell.detailTextLabel.text = [dict objectForKey:@"loginName"]; cell.accessoryType = UITableViewCellAccessoryDisclosureIndicator; return cell; } - (void)viewDidAppear:(BOOL)animated { [super viewDidAppear:animated]; - (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; //GET JSON FROM WEBSERVICES: NSURL *url = [NSURL URLWithString:@"http://10.0.1.8/~imac/iphone/jsontest.php"]; NSString *jsonreturn = [[NSString alloc] initWithContentsOfURL:url]; NSData *jsonData = [jsonreturn dataUsingEncoding:NSUTF32BigEndianStringEncoding]; NSError *error = nil; NSDictionary * dict = [[CJSONDeserializer deserializer] deserializeAsDictionary:jsonData error:&error]; if (dict) { rowsArray = [dict objectForKey:@"member"]; [rowsArray retain]; } [jsonreturn release]; } //GO TO DETAIL VIEW: - (void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView didSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { FollowingDetailViewController *aFollowDetail = [[FollowingDetailViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"FollowingDetailView" bundle:nil]; [self.navigationController pushViewController:aFollowDetail animated:YES]; }

  • TinyMCE + jQuery + custom plugin = tinymce is undefined?

    - by user368691
    The problem occurs when I try to create small plugin to allow me toggle on and off WYSIWYG on all textareas in the website. //$('form.default textarea').each(function(){ // console.log( $('<a href="#">Enable WYSIWYG editor</a>').insertAfter('form.default textarea').prev('textarea.wysiwyg').tinymce().hide() ); //}); The full (a bit simplified) code looks like this: $('textarea.wysiwyg').tinymce({ skin : 'cirkuit', theme : 'advanced', plugins : 'pagebreak,style,layer,advlink,inlinepopups,contextmenu,paste,directionality,noneditable,nonbreaking,xhtmlxtras,template', // Theme options theme_advanced_buttons1 : 'formatselect,fontsizeselect,forecolor,|,bold,italic,strikethrough,|,bullist,numlist,|,justifyleft,justifycenter,justifyright,|,link,unlink,|,image,|,code,paste,pastetext,pasteword,removeformat,|,backcolor,|,underline,justifyfull,sup,|,outdent,indent,|,hr,charmap,|,undo,redo', theme_advanced_buttons2 : '', theme_advanced_buttons3 : '', theme_advanced_toolbar_location : 'top', theme_advanced_toolbar_align : 'left', theme_advanced_statusbar_location: 'bottom', theme_advanced_resizing : true, theme_advanced_resize_horizontal : false, height : 500, theme_advanced_resizing_min_height : 500, document_base_url : 'http://static.<?=$settings['system_host']?>/' }); $('textarea.wysiwyg').each(function() { $(this).tinymce().hide(); }); What is the error? FireBug says that tinymce() in undefined; this message occurs in each() loop. Thus, tinymce() is actually initialized. I am really lost towards, what could be causing this.

  • Problem adding Contact with new API

    - by Mike
    Hello, I am trying to add a new contact to my contact list using the new ContactContract API via my application. I have the following method based on the Contact Manager example on android dev. private static void addContactCore(Context context, String accountType, String accountName, String name, String phoneNumber, int phoneType) throws RemoteException, OperationApplicationException { ArrayList<ContentProviderOperation> ops = new ArrayList<ContentProviderOperation>(); //Add contact type ops.add(ContentProviderOperation.newInsert(ContactsContract.RawContacts.CONTENT_URI) .withValue(ContactsContract.RawContacts.ACCOUNT_TYPE, accountType) .withValue(ContactsContract.RawContacts.ACCOUNT_NAME, accountName) .build()); //Add contact name ops.add(ContentProviderOperation.newInsert(ContactsContract.Data.CONTENT_URI) .withValueBackReference(ContactsContract.Data.RAW_CONTACT_ID, 0) .withValue(ContactsContract.Data.MIMETYPE, ContactsContract.CommonDataKinds.StructuredName.CONTENT_ITEM_TYPE) .withValue(ContactsContract.CommonDataKinds.StructuredName.DISPLAY_NAME, (!name.toLowerCase().equals("unavailable") && !name.equals("")) ? name : phoneNumber) .build()); //Add phone number ops.add(ContentProviderOperation.newInsert(ContactsContract.Data.CONTENT_URI) .withValueBackReference(ContactsContract.Data.RAW_CONTACT_ID, 0) .withValue(ContactsContract.Data.MIMETYPE, ContactsContract.CommonDataKinds.Phone.CONTENT_ITEM_TYPE) .withValue(ContactsContract.CommonDataKinds.Phone.NUMBER, phoneNumber) .withValue(ContactsContract.CommonDataKinds.Phone.TYPE, phoneType) .build()); //Add contact context.getContentResolver().applyBatch(ContactsContract.AUTHORITY, ops); } In one example I have the flowing values for the parameters. accountType:com.google accountName:(my google account email) name:Mike phoneNumber:5555555555 phoneType:3 The call to the function returns normally without any exception being thrown however the contact is no where to be found in the contact manager on my phone. There is also no contact with that information on my phone already. Does anyone have any insight into what I might be doing wrong?

  • How do I achieve a 'select or insert' task using LINQ to EF?

    - by ProfK
    I have an import process with regions, locations, and shifts, where a Shift object has a Location property, and a Location object has a Region property. If a region name does not exist, I create the region, and like wise a location. I thought I could neatly encapsulate the 'Select if exists, or create' logic into helper classes for Region and Location, but if I use local data contexts in these classes I run into attach and detach overheads that become unpleasent. If I include a data context dependency in these classes, my encapsulation feels broken. What is the ideal method for achieving this, or where is the ideal place to place this functionality? In my example I have leaned heavily on the foreign key crutch provided with .NET 4.0, and simply avoided using entities in favour of direct foreign key values, but this is starting to smell. Example: public partial class ActivationLocation { public static int GetOrCreate(int regionId, string name) { using (var ents = new PvmmsEntities()) { var loc = ents.ActivationLocations.FirstOrDefault(x => x.RegionId == regionId && x.Name == name); if (loc == null) { loc = new ActivationLocation {RegionId = regionId, Name = name}; ents.AddToActivationLocations(loc); ents.SaveChanges(SaveOptions.AcceptAllChangesAfterSave); } return loc.LocationId; } } }

  • SQLCLR and DateTime2

    - by Moe Sisko
    Using SQL Server 2008, Visual Studio 2005, .net 2.0 with SP2 (has support for new SQL Server 2008 data types). I'm trying to write an SQLCLR function that takes a DateTime2 as input and returns another DateTime2. e.g. : using System; using System.Data.SqlTypes; using Microsoft.SqlServer.Server; namespace MyCompany.SQLCLR { public class DateTimeHelpCLR { [SqlFunction(DataAccess = DataAccessKind.None)] public static SqlDateTime UTCToLocalDT(SqlDateTime val) { if (val.IsNull) return SqlDateTime.Null; TimeZone tz = System.TimeZone.CurrentTimeZone; DateTime res = tz.ToLocalTime(val.Value); return new SqlDateTime(res); } } } Now, the above compiles fine. I want these SqlDateTimes to map to SQL Server's DateTime2, so I try to run this T-SQL : CREATE function hubg.f_UTCToLocalDT ( @dt DATETIME2 ) returns DATETIME2 AS EXTERNAL NAME [SQLCLR].[MyCompany.SQLCLR.DateTimeHelpCLR].UTCToLocalDT GO This gives the following error : Msg 6551, Level 16, State 2, Procedure f_UTCToLocalDT, Line 1 CREATE FUNCTION for "f_UTCToLocalDT" failed because T-SQL and CLR types for return value do not match. Using DATETIME (instead of DATETIME2) works fine. But I'd rather use DATETIME2 to support the increased precision. What am I doing something wrong, or is DateTime2 not (fully) supported by SQLCLR ?
