  • C#: How to get all public (both get and set) string properties of a type

    - by Svish
I am trying to make a method that will go through a list of generic objects and replace all their properties of type string which is either null or empty with a replacement. How is a good way to do this? I have this kind of... shell... so far: public static void ReplaceEmptyStrings<T>(List<T> list, string replacement) { var properties = typeof(T).GetProperties( -- What BindingFlags? -- ); foreach(var p in properties) { foreach(var item in list) { if(string.IsNullOrEmpty((string) p.GetValue(item, null))) p.SetValue(item, replacement, null); } } } So, how do I find all the properties of a type that are: Of type string Has public get Has public set ? I made this test class: class TestSubject { public string Public; private string Private; public string PublicPublic { get; set; } public string PublicPrivate { get; private set; } public string PrivatePublic { private get; set; } private string PrivatePrivate { get; set; } } The following does not work: var properties = typeof(TestSubject) .GetProperties(BindingFlags.Instance|BindingFlags.Public) .Where(ø => ø.CanRead && ø.CanWrite) .Where(ø => ø.PropertyType == typeof(string)); If I print out the Name of those properties I get there, I get: PublicPublic PublicPrivate PrivatePublic In other words, I get two properties too much. Note: This could probably be done in a better way... using nested foreach and reflection and all here... but if you have any great alternative ideas, please let me know cause I want to learn!

  • How can I use a value of JSP in Javascript code?

    - by novellino
Hello, I have a list of elements, each of them appeared in my page through jsp. So I have this: <div id="title"><%= list.get(ind).getTitle() %></div> When I display the elements, as this tag is in for loop, I get everything right. Now I what to place a button for deleting each of this elements. What I have done is: <input type="submit" name="submit" onclick="deleteNewsFunction();" id="submit_btn"/> In the deleteNewsFunction() I just want to print the data. <script> function deleteNewsFunction(){ var item = $('#title').val(); alert(item); } </script> The problem is that the title var gets always the first item even if I am clicking on the button of the second item. I was thinking that maybe a solution is to add the "list.get(ind).getTitle()" as a parameter in the function like deleteNewsFunction(<%=list.get(ind).getTitle()%) but then it did not work at all. Does anyone know how to help me? Thanks a lot!

  • How to pass variables to slot methods in QT?

    - by Neko
Hi. I'm making a little chat messenger program, which needs a list of chat channels the user has joined. To represent this list graphically, I have made a list of QPushButtons, which all represent a different channel. These buttons are made with the following method, and that's where my problem kicks in: void Messenger::addToActivePanels(std::string& channel) { activePanelsContents = this->findChild<QWidget *>(QString("activePanelsContents")); pushButton = new QPushButton(activePanelsContents); pushButton->setObjectName("pushButton"); pushButton->setGeometry(QRect(0, 0, 60, 60)); pushButton->setText(""); pushButton->setToolTip(QString(channel.c_str())); pushButton->setCheckable(true); pushButton->setChecked(false); connect(pushButton, SIGNAL(clicked()), this, SLOT(switchTab(channel))); } (activePanelContents is a QWidget that holds the list.) The point is that each button should call the switchTab(string& tabname) method when clicked, including the specific channel's name as variable. This implementation doesn't work though, and I haven't been able to find out how to properly do this, even after reading several pages on it on the internet. Can anybody please tell me how to do this? It'd be greatly appreciated, as always. :)

  • Indy client receive string

    - by Eszee
Im writing an Indy chat app, and am wondering if there is a way for the server component to tell the client that there is a string waiting, or even a way for the client to have an "OnExecute" like event. This is what i have now: server: procedure TServer.ServerExecute(AContext: TIdContext); var sResponse: string; I: Integer; list: Tlist; begin List := Server.Contexts.LockList; sResponse:= AContext.Connection.Socket.ReadLn; try for I := 0 to List.Count-1 do begin try TIdContext(List[I]).Connection.IOHandler.WriteLn(sResponse); except end; end; finally Server.Contexts.UnlockList; end; end; Client: procedure TForm1.Button1Click(Sender: TObject); var sMsg : string; begin Client.Socket.WriteLn(edit1.Text); sMsg := Client.Socket.ReadLn; Memo1.Lines.Add(sMsg); end; The problem is when i have 2 or more clients running the messages keep stacking because the button only processes 1 message a time. I'd like a way for the client to wait for messages and when it is triggered it processes those messages, like it does now under the button procedure. I've tried to put the "readln" part under a timer, but that causes some major problems. Im Using Delphi 2010 and Indy 10

  • Hibernate HQL m:n join problem

    - by smallufo
I am very unfamiliar with SQL/HQL , and am currently stuck with this 'maybe' simple problem : I have two many-to-many Entities , with a relation table : Car , CarProblem , and Problem . One Car may have many Problems , One Problem may appear in many Cars, CarProblem is the association table with other properties . Now , I want to find Car(s) with specified Problem , how do I write such HQL ? All ids are Long type . I've tried a lot of join / inner-join combinations , but all in vain.. -- updated : Sorry , forget to mention : Car has many CarProblem Problem has many CarProblem Car and Problem are not directly connected in Java Object. -- update , java code below -- @Entity public class Car extends Model{ @OneToMany(mappedBy="car" , cascade=CascadeType.ALL) public Set<CarProblem> carProblems; } @Entity public class CarProblem extends Model{ @ManyToOne public Car car; @ManyToOne public Problem problem; ... other properties } @Entity public class Problem extends Model { other properties ... // not link to CarProblem , It seems not related to this problem // **This is a very stupid query , I want to get rid of it ...** public List<Car> findCars() { List<CarProblem> list = CarProblem.find("from CarProblem as cp where cp.problem.id = ? ", id).fetch(); Set<Car> result = new HashSet<Car>(); for(CarProblem cp : list) result.add(cp.car); return new ArrayList<Car>(result); } } The Model is from Play! framework , so these properties are all public .

  • Android ProgressDialog inside another dialog

    - by La bla bla
    I'm working on a game using AndEngine, and I need to show the users the list of his Facebook friends. I've created my custom Adatper and after the loading finishes everything works great. I have a problem with the loading it self. The ListView is inside a custom dialog, since I don't really know how to create one using AndEngine, So inside this dialog, I'm running an AsyncTask to fetch the friends' info, in that AsyncTask I'm have a ProgressDialog. The problem is, the ProgressDialog shows up behind the dialog that contains the to-be list (which while loading, is just the title). I can see the ProgressDialog "peeking" behind that dialog.. Any Ideas? Here's some code: FriendsDialog.java private ProgressDialog dialog; //Constructor of the AsyncTask public FriendsLoader(Context context) { dialog = new ProgressDialog(context); dialog.setMessage("Please wait..\nLoading Friends List."); } @Override protected void onPreExecute() { dialog.requestWindowFeature(Window.FEATURE_NO_TITLE); LayoutInflater inflater = (LayoutInflater)context.getSystemService(Context.LAYOUT_INFLATER_SERVICE); dialog.setView(inflater.inflate(R.layout.loading, null)); dialog.setMessage("Please wait..\nLoading friends."); dialog.show(); } @Override protected void onPostExecute(ArrayList<HashMap<String, Object>> data) { if (dialog.isShowing()) { dialog.dismiss(); } MyAdapter myAdapter = new MyAdapter(context, data); listView = (ListView) findViewById(R.id.list); listView.setAdapter(myAdapter); listView.setOnItemClickListener(new AdapterView.OnItemClickListener() { @Override public void onItemClick(AdapterView<?> myAdapter, View myView, int myItemInt, long mylng) { String id = (String) listView.getItemAtPosition(myItemInt); listener.onUserSelected(id); dismiss(); } }); }

  • lists searches in SYB or uniplate haskell

    - by Chris
I have been using uniplate and SYB and I am trying to transform a list For instance type Tree = [DataA] data DataA = DataA1 [DataB] | DataA2 String | DataA3 String [DataA] deriving Show data DataB = DataB1 [DataA] | DataB2 String | DataB3 String [DataB] deriving Show For instance, I would like to traverse my tree and append a value to all [DataB] So my first thought was to do this: changeDataB:: Tree -> Tree changeDataB = everywhere(mkT changeDataB') chanegDataB'::[DataB] -> [DataB] changeDataB' <add changes here> or if I was using uniplate changeDataB:: Tree -> Tree changeDataB = transformBi changeDataB' chanegDataB'::[DataB] -> [DataB] changeDataB' <add changes here> The problem is that I only want to search on the full list. Doing either of these searches will cause a search on the full list and all of the sub-lists (including the empty list) The other problem is that a value in [DataB] may generate a [DataB], so I don't know if this is the same kind of solution as not searching chars in a string. I could pattern match on DataA1 and DataB3, but in my real application there are a bunch of [DataB]. Pattern matching on the parents would be extensive. The other thought that I had was to create a data DataBs = [DataB] and use that to transform on. That seems kind of lame, there must be a better solution.

  • Repository Pattern Standardization of methods

    - by Nix
All I am trying to find out the correct definition of the repository pattern. My original understanding was this (extremely dubmed down) Separate your Business Objects from your Data Objects Standardize access methods in data access layer. I have really seen 2 different implementations. Implementation 1 : public Interface IRepository<T>{ List<T> GetAll(); void Create(T p); void Update(T p); } public interface IProductRepository: IRepository<Product> { //Extension methods if needed List<Product> GetProductsByCustomerID(); } Implementation 2 : public interface IProductRepository { List<Product> GetAllProducts(); void CreateProduct(Product p); void UpdateProduct(Product p); List<Product> GetProductsByCustomerID(); } Notice the first is generic Get/Update/GetAll, etc, the second is more of what I would define "DAO" like. Both share an extraction from your data entities. Which I like, but i can do the same with a simple DAO. However the second piece standardize access operations I see value in, if you implement this enterprise wide people would easily know the set of access methods for your repository. Am I wrong to assume that the standardization of access to data is an integral piece of this pattern ? Rhino has a good article on implementation 1, and of course MS has a vague definition and an example of implementation 2 is here.

  • How to call shared_ptr<boost::signal> from a vector in a loop?

    - by BTR
I've got a working callback system that uses boost::signal. I'm extending it into a more flexible and efficient callback manager which uses a vector of shared_ptr's to my signals. I've been able to successfully create and add callbacks to the list, but I'm unclear as to how to actually execute the signals. ... // Signal aliases typedef boost::signal<void (float *, int32_t)> Callback; typedef std::shared_ptr<Callback> CallbackRef; // The callback list std::vector<CallbackRef> mCallbacks; // Adds a callback to the list template<typename T> void addCallback(void (T::* callbackFunction)(float * data, int32_t size), T * callbackObject) { CallbackRef mCallback = CallbackRef(new Callback()); mCallback->connect(boost::function<void (float *, int32_t)>(boost::bind(callbackFunction, callbackObject, _1, _2))); mCallbacks.push_back(mCallback); } // Pass the float array and its size to the callbacks void execute(float * data, int32_t size) { // Iterate through the callback list for (vector<CallbackRef>::iterator i = mCallbacks.begin(); i != mCallbacks.end(); ++i) { // What do I do here? // (* i)(data, size); // <-- Dereferencing doesn't work } } ... All of this code works. I'm just not sure how to run the call from within a shared_ptr from with a vector. Any help would be neat-o. Thanks, in advance.

  • Can I control object creation using MEF?

    - by Akash
I need to add some extension points to our existing code, and I've been looking at MEF as a possible solution. We have an IRandomNumberGenerator interface, with a default implementation (ConcreteRNG) that we would like to be swappable. This sounds like an ideal scenario for MEF, but I've been having problems with the way we instantiate the random number generators. Our current code looks like: public class Consumer { private List<IRandomNumberGenerator> generators; private List<double> seeds; public Consumer() { generators = new List<IRandomNumberGenerator>(); seeds = new List<double>(new[] {1.0, 2.0, 3.0}); foreach(var seed in seeds) { generators.Add(new ConcreteRNG(seed); } } } In other words, the consumer is responsible for instantiating the RNGs it needs, including providing the seed that each instance requires. What I'd like to do is to have the concrete RNG implementation discovered and instantiated by MEF (using the DirectoryCatalog). I'm not sure how to achieve this. I could expose a Generators property and mark it as an [Import], but how do I provide the required seeds? Is there some other approach I am missing?

  • Read in double type from txt file - C++

    - by Greenhouse Gases
Hi there I'm in the midst of a university project and have decided to implement a method that can accept information from a text file (in this instance called "locations.txt"). input from the text file will look like this: London 345 456 Madrid 234 345 Beinjing 345 456 Frankfurt 456 567 The function looks like this currently (and you will notice I am missing the While condition to finish adding input when reaches end of text in locations.txt, i tried using eof but this didnt work?!). Also get function expects a char and so cant accept input thats a double which is what the latitude and longitude are defined as... void populateList(){ ifstream inputFile; inputFile.open ("locations.txt"); temp = new locationNode; // declare the space for a pointer item and assign a temporary pointer to it while(HASNT REACHED END OF TEXT FILE!!) { inputFile.getline(temp-nodeCityName, MAX_LENGTH); // inputFile.get(temp-nodeLati, MAX_LENGTH); // inputFile.get(temp-nodeLongi, MAX_LENGTH); temp-Next = NULL; //set to NULL as when one is added it is currently the last in the list and so can not point to the next if(start_ptr == NULL){ // if list is currently empty, start_ptr will point to this node start_ptr = temp; } else { temp2 = start_ptr; // We know this is not NULL - list not empty! while (temp2-Next != NULL) { temp2 = temp2-Next; // Move to next link in chain until reach end of list } temp2->Next = temp; } } inputFile.close(); } Any help you can provide would be most useful. If I need to provide anymore detail I will do, I'm in a bustling canteen atm and concentrating is hard!!

  • Filtering two arrays to avoid Inf/NaN values

    - by Gacek
I have two arrays of doubles of the same size, containg X and Y values for some plots. I need to create some kind of protection against Inf/NaN values. I need to find all that pairs of values (X, Y) for which both, X and Y are not Inf nor NaN If I have one array, I can do it using lambdas: var filteredValues = someValues.Where(d=> !(double.IsNaN(d) || double.IsInfinity(d))).ToList(); Now, for two arrays I use following loop: List<double> filteredX=new List<double>(); List<double> filteredX=new List<double>(); for(int i=0;i<XValues.Count;i++) { if(!double.IsNan(XValues[i]) && !double.IsInfinity(XValues[i]) && !double.IsNan(YValues[i]) && !double.IsInfinity(YValues[i]) ) { filteredX.Add(XValues[i]); filteredY.Add(YValues[i]); } } Is there any way of filtering two arrays at the same time using LINQ/Lambdas, as it was done for single array?

  • Comparing two select elements values

    - by user1135192
I've been been trying to look for a piece of javascript code that compares the values selected by a user in a html form from two <select> tags. So if the user selects a minimum value that is greater than the maximum number an alert box in javascript should be displayed. For example, if the user selects 5 bedrooms from the the MINIMUM bedrooms dropdown list and then 3 bedrooms from the MAXIMUM bedrooms dropdown list, this should not allow the form to be processed when the submit button is clicked. But is fine when 3 is selected from the MINIMUM dropdown list and 5 from the MAXIMUM dropdown list. <form name="search" action="page3.php" method="GET"> <select name="minimumBeds"> <option value="1"> 1 </option> <option value="2"> 2 </option> <option value="3"> 3 </option> <option value="4"> 4 </option> <option value="5"> 5 </option> </select> <select name="maximumBeds"> <option value="1"> 1 </option> <option value="2"> 2 </option> <option value="3"> 3 </option> <option value="4"> 4 </option> <option value="5"> 5 </option> </select> </form>

  • Parallelizing L2S Entity Retrieval

    - by MarkB
Assuming a typical domain entity approach with SQL Server and a dbml/L2S DAL with a logic layer on top of that: In situations where lazy loading is not an option, I have settled on a convention where getting a list of entities does not also get each item's child entities (no loading), but getting a single entity does (eager loading). Since getting a single entity also gets children, it causes a cascading effect in which each child then gets its children too. This sounds bad, but as long as the model is not too deep, I usually don't see performance problems that outweigh the benefits of the ease of use. So if I want to get a list in which each of the items is fully hydrated with children, I combine the GetList and GetItem methods. So I'll get a list and then loop through it getting each item with the full cascade. Even this is generally acceptable in many of the projects I've worked on - but I have recently encountered situations with larger models and/or more data in which it needs to be more efficient. I've found that partitioning the loop and executing it on multiple threads yields excellent results. In my first experiment with a list of 50 items from one particular project, I did 5 threads of 10 items each and got a 3X improvement in time. Of course, the mileage will vary depending on the project but all else being equal this is clearly a big opportunity. However, before I go further, I was wondering what others have done that have already been through this. What are some good approaches to parallelizing this type of thing?

  • AngularJS: Using Shared Service(with $resource) to share data between controllers, but how to define callback functions?

    - by shaunlim
Note: I also posted this question on the AngularJS mailing list here: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/angular/UC8_pZsdn2U Hi All, I'm building my first AngularJS app and am not very familiar with Javascript to begin with so any guidance will be much appreciated :) My App has two controllers, ClientController and CountryController. In CountryController, I'm retrieving a list of countries from a CountryService that uses the $resource object. This works fine, but I want to be able to share the list of countries with the ClientController. After some research, I read that I should use the CountryService to store the data and inject that service into both controllers. This was the code I had before: CountryService: services.factory('CountryService', function($resource) { return $resource('http://localhost:port/restwrapper/client.json', {port: ':8080'}); }); CountryController: //Get list of countries //inherently async query using deferred promise $scope.countries = CountryService.query(function(result){ //preselected first entry as default $scope.selected.country = $scope.countries[0]; }); And after my changes, they look like this: CountryService: services.factory('CountryService', function($resource) { var countryService = {}; var data; var resource = $resource('http://localhost:port/restwrapper/country.json', {port: ':8080'}); var countries = function() { data = resource.query(); return data; } return { getCountries: function() { if(data) { console.log("returning cached data"); return data; } else { console.log("getting countries from server"); return countries(); } } }; }); CountryController: $scope.countries = CountryService.getCountries(function(result){ console.log("i need a callback function here..."); }); The problem is that I used to be able to use the callback function in $resource.query() to preselect a default selection, but now that I've moved the query() call to within my CountryService, I seemed to have lost what. What's the best way to go about solving this problem? Thanks for your help, Shaun

ArrayList<Example> examples = new ArrayList<Example>(); Because when we use List we can't use method that only have in ArrayList class like trimToSize() and How I know when to use or not use?

  • Google Apps Script: how to make suggest box library to work?

    - by Pythonista's Apprentice
I'm trying to add an autocomplete feature in my Google Spreadsheet using this Google Apps Script suggest box library from Romain Vialard and James Ferreira's book: function doGet() { // Get a list of all my Contacts var contacts = ContactsApp.getContacts(); var list = []; for(var i = 0; i < contacts.length; i++){ var emails = contacts[i].getEmails(); if(emails[0] != undefined){ list.push(emails[0].getAddress()); } } var app = UiApp.createApplication(); var suggestBox = SuggestBoxCreator.createSuggestBox(app, 'contactPicker', 200, list); app.add(suggestBox); return app; } function onEdit() { var s = SpreadsheetApp.getActiveSheet(); if( s.getName() == "my_sheet_name" ) { //checks that we're on the correct sheet var r = s.getActiveCell(); if( r.getColumn() == 1) { doGet(); } } } But when I start editing the column 1 of "my_sheet_name" nothing hapens (if I replace doGet() for other function, this other function runs Ok). I've already installed the Suggest Box library. So, why the doGet() function doesn't work?

  • BlackBerry 5.0 causing full menu to show on navigationClick

    - by jwadsack
I have a BlackBerry app that is built for 4.5.x SDK. The first page of the app shows a list of fields and each field can be highlighted and clicked. The click action shows a new view with additional information about the field. This all works fine in 4.5, 4.6 and 4.7 and on the sim with 5.0. On a real 9000 running 5.0, when clicking the trackball on an item in the list, the full menu is showing rather than the click event getting consumed (or even fired) for the field. The view is derived from MainScreen and looks something like this: public class ListView extends MainScreen { public ItemCollection list = new ItemCollection; protected void sublayout( int maxWidth, int maxHeight ) { int i = 1; while(( item == (Item)list.nextElement()) != null) { ItemField field = new ItemField(item, i++); add(field); } } } This class does not consume navigationClick, but shouldn't need to, right? The field class does consume navigationClick event: public class ItemField extends Field { protected boolean navigationClick(int status, int time) { controller.showDeal(item.id, Session.current); return true; } } Is there something that changed in 5.0 that I need to add to have this app work the same for all platforms?

  • How to check user input for correct formatting

    - by Arcadian
This is what i've come up with so far private void CheckFormatting() { StringReader objReaderf = new StringReader(txtInput.Text); List<String> formatTextList = new List<String>(); do { formatTextList.Add(objReaderf.ReadLine()); } while (objReaderf.Peek() != -1); objReaderf.Close(); for (int i = 0; i < formatTextList.Count; i++) { } } What it is designed to do is check that the user has entered their information in this format Gxx:xx:xx:xx JGxx where "x" can be any integer. As you can see the user inputs their data into a multi-line textbox. i then take that data and enter it into a list. the next part is where i'm stuck. i create a for loop to go through the list line by line, but i guess i will also need to go through each line character by character. How do i do this? or is there a faster way of doing it? thanks in advance

  • Is there a better way to do updates in LinqToSQL?

    - by Vaccano
I have a list (that comes to my middleware app from the client) that I need to put in my database. Some items in the list may already be in the db (just need an update). Others are new inserts. This turns out to be much harder than I thought I would be. Here is my code to do that. I am hoping there is a better way: public void InsertClients(List<Client> clients) { var comparer = new LambdaComparer<Client>((x, y) => x.Id == y.Id); // Get a listing of all the ones we will be updating var alreadyInDB = ctx.Clients .Where(client => clients.Contains(client, comparer)); // Update the changes for those already in the db foreach (Client clientDB in alreadyInDB) { var clientDBClosure = clientDB; Client clientParam = clients.Find(x => x.Id == clientDBClosure.Id); clientDB.ArrivalTime = clientParam.ArrivalTime; clientDB.ClientId = clientParam.ClientId; clientDB.ClientName = clientParam.ClientName; clientDB.ClientEventTime = clientParam.ClientEventTime; clientDB.EmployeeCount = clientParam.EmployeeCount; clientDB.ManagerId = clientParam.ManagerId; } // Get a list of all clients that are not in my the database. var notInDB = clients.Where(x => alreadyInDB.Contains(x, comparer) == false); ctx.Clients.InsertAllOnSubmit(notInDB); ctx.SubmitChanges(); } This seems like a lot of work to do a simple update. But maybe I am just spoiled. Anyway, if there is a easier way to do this please let me know. Note: If you are curious the code to the LambdaComparer is here: http://gist.github.com/335780#file_lambda_comparer.cs

  • jQuery.getJSON: how to avoid requesting the json-file on every refresh? (caching)

    in this example you can see a generated HTML-list. On every refresh the script requests the data-file (ajax/test.json) and builds the list again. The generated file "ajax/test.json" is cached statically. But how can I avoid requesting this file on every refresh? // source: jquery.com $.getJSON('ajax/test.json', function(data) { var items = []; $.each(data, function(key, val) { items.push('<li id="' + key + '">' + val + '</li>'); }); $('<ul/>', { 'class': 'my-new-list', html: items. }).appendTo('body'); }); This doesn't work: list_data = $.cookie("list_data"); if (list_data == undefined || list_data == "") { $.getJSON('ajax/test.json', function(data) { list_data = data; }); } var items = []; $.each(data, function(key, val) { items.push('<li id="' + key + '">' + val + '</li>'); }); $('<ul/>', { 'class': 'my-new-list', html: items. }).appendTo('body'); Thanks in advance!

  • NSManagedObject How To Reload

    - by crissag
I have a view that consists of a table of existing objects and an Add button, which allows the user to create a new object. When the user presses Add, the object is created in the list view controller, so that the object will be part of that managed object context (via the NSEntityDescription insertNewObjectForEntityForName: method). The Add view has a property for the managed object. In the list view controller, I create an Add view controller, set the property to the managed object I created, and then push the Add view on to the navigation stack. In the Add view, I have two buttons for save and cancel. In the save, I save the managed object and pass the managed object back to the list view controller via a delegate method. If the user cancels, then I delete the object and pass nil back to the list view controller. The complication I am having in the add view is related to a UIImagePickerController. In the Add view, I have a button which allows the user to take a photo of the object (or use an existing photo from the photo library). However, the process of transferring to the UIImagePickerController and having the user use the camera, is resulting in a didReceiveMemoryWarning in the add view controller. Further, the view was unloaded, which also caused my NSManagedObject to get clobbered. My question is, how to you go about reloading the NSManagedObject in the case where it was released because of the low memory situation?
