  • Getting Revisions from CVS repository

    Hi, I am trying to get somehow all the revision log that were made to a particular file, but I seem to stupid to do that :( To checkout a module I do the following CVSROOT="/home/projects/stuff/" cvs co myworkingdir within myworkingdir I have a testfile called paper.tex and from this I wanna try to get the revisions but I tried the following but nothing works ... CVSROOT="/home/projects/stuff/" cvs log paper.tex cvs log: cannot open CVS/Entries for reading: No such file or directory cvs log: nothing known about paper.tex -bash-3.2$ CVSROOT="/home/projects/stuff/" cvs log myworkingdir/paper.tex cvs [log aborted]: no such directory `myworkingdir' Anyone an idea how I could get the log of the revisions of the paper.tex file in the myworkingdir module? The form contains inputs such as "Name" and "Gender", but I am just trying to get the auto completion to work with the "Name" field.   • JS/CSS include section replacement, Debug vs Release

    I'd be interested to hear how people handle conditional markup, specifically in their masterpages between release and debug builds. The particular scenario this is applicable to is handling concatenated js and css files. I'm currently using the .Net port of YUI compress to produce a single site.css and site.js from a large collection of separate files. One thought that occurred to me was to place the js and css include section in a user control or collection of panels and conditionally display the <link> and <script> markup based on the Debug or Release state of the assembly. Something along the lines of: #if DEBUG pnlDebugIncludes.visible = true #else pnlReleaseIncludes.visible = true #endif The panel is really not very nice semantically - wrapping <script> tags in a <div> is a bit gross; there must be a better approach. I would also think that a block level element like a <div> within <head> would be invalid html. Another idea was this could possibly be handled using web.config section replacements, but I'm not sure how I would go about doing that.

  • SQL Server database change workflow best practices

    The Background My group has 4 SQL Server Databases: Production UAT Test Dev I work in the Dev environment. When the time comes to promote the objects I've been working on (tables, views, functions, stored procs) I make a request of my manager, who promotes to Test. After testing, she submits a request to an Admin who promotes to UAT. After successful user testing, the same Admin promotes to Production. The Problem The entire process is awkward for a few reasons. Each person must manually track their changes. If I update, add, remove any objects I need to track them so that my promotion request contains everything I've done. In theory, if I miss something testing or UAT should catch it, but this isn't certain and it's a waste of the tester's time, anyway. Lots of changes I make are iterative and done in a GUI, which means there's no record of what changes I made, only the end result (at least as far as I know). We're in the fairly early stages of building out a data mart, so the majority of the changes made, at least count-wise, are minor things: changing the data type for a column, altering the names of tables as we crystallize what they'll be used for, tweaking functions and stored procs, etc. The Question People have been doing this kind of work for decades, so I imagine there have got to be a much better way to manage the process. What I would love is if I could run a diff between two databases to see how the structure was different, use that diff to generate a change script, use that change script as my promotion request. Is this possible? If not, are there any other ways to organize this process? For the record, we're a 100% Microsoft shop, just now updating everything to SQL Server 2008, so any tools available in that package would be fair game.

  • jQuery Dialog - Remote Page Javascript not running in FF / Chrome

    Hey SO, I've created a page intended only to be opened via modal. This page contains a calendar of the User's favorite events...etc. I'm using the jQuery Dialog and FullCalendar plugins to do this. In IE, there is not issue...everything works fine. However, the Javascript on the remote page (Calendar.aspx) is never getting executed in FF or Chrome. Here's my code.   • bing search api ajax does not work

    Hi guys, I want to use the Bing's search api with javascript. Actually, I want the user to write something and query Bing in order to get just images. so, I tried it using ajax.   • Flex: Linebreak problem with spark.components.TextArea inside a MXDataGridItemRenderer

    Hi, I have a DataGrid that has a MXDataGridItemRenderer applied as an itemEditor to one of the columns. The editor includes a spark.components.TextArea control. By default, any text item editor of a datagrid closes itself when [enter] key is pressed..   • asp:login form does not submit when you hit enter

    I am having an issues while using the <asp:login> tag. When a user clicks the "login" button, the form will process correctly. However, when the user hits the enter key, the form self submits and does not process the login, whether it was correct information or not. I am using a combination of MasterPages, and Umbraco.   • How do I Send Email from the Command Line?

    I would like to quickly send email from the command line. I realize there are probably a number of different ways to do this. I'm looking for a simple way to do this from a linux terminal (likely a bash shell but anything should do) and an alternative way to do this on Windows. I want to be able to whip up an email right on the command line or have the flexibility to pipe the message into the command line program. How would you go about doing this? If you have small scripts that would be fine as well. Thanks in advance.

    Hi Guys and Girls. I'm working on a website (tobacco related) that requires all visitors to validate they are over 18 before they can view the site. I have a form in place that validates the age but I'm at a dead end. How can I use this to store a cookie that they've passed the test and do a check on all pages to see if this check has already been passed or not? It should be quick It should handle large strings (I have some scripts that are 10mb in size for example) The hardest part (that the above code currently does not do) is to take quoted text into account Currently the following SQL will incorrectly get split: var batch = QueryBatch.Parse(@"-- issue... insert into table (name, desc) values('foo', 'if the go is on a line by itself we have a problem...')"); Assert.That(batch.Queries.Count, Is.EqualTo(1), "This fails for now..."); I have thought about a token based parser that tracks the state of the open closed quotes but am not sure if Regex will do it.     Every time a user registers to our site we need to show a non-disclosure agreement. In order to continue the user has to accept it. My issue is that I have the NDA in all one page and the user does not really read it and accept (like we all do). What I want is to make sure the user reads the NDA and accepts it one he "read" it? What I have now is a simple jqeury validation if the user checks a box and click on accept. then it goes to the next page.   • Oracle command hangs when using view for "WHILE x IN..." subquery

    I'm working on a web service that fetches data from an oracle data source in chunks and passes it back to an indexing/search tool in XML format. I'm the C#/.NET guy, and am kind of fuzzy on parts of Oracle. Our Oracle team gave us the following script to run, and it works well: SELECT ROWID, [columns] FROM [table] WHERE ROWID IN ( SELECT ROWID FROM ( SELECT ROWID FROM [table] WHERE ROWID > '[previous_batch_last_rowid]' ORDER BY ROWID ) WHERE ROWNUM <= 10000 ) ORDER BY ROWID 10,000 rows is an arbitrary but reasonable chunk size and ROWID is sufficiently unique for our purposes to use as a UID since each indexing run hits only one table at a time. Bracketed values are filled in programmatically by the web service. Now we're going to start adding views to the indexing, each of which will union a few separate tables. Since ROWID would no longer function as a unique identifier, they added a column to the views (VIEW_UNIQUE_ID) that concatenates the ROWIDs from the component tables to construct a UID for each union. But this script does not work, even though it follows the same form as the previous one: SELECT VIEW_UNIQUE_ID, [columns] FROM [view] WHERE VIEW_UNIQUE_ID IN ( SELECT VIEW_UNIQUE_ID FROM ( SELECT VIEW_UNIQUE_ID FROM [view] WHERE ROWID > '[previous_batch_last_view_unique_id]' ORDER BY VIEW_UNIQUE_ID ) WHERE ROWNUM <= 10000 ) ORDER BY VIEW_UNIQUE_ID It hangs indefinitely with no response from the Oracle server. I've waited 20+ minutes and the SQLTools dialog box indicating a running query remains the same, with no progress or updates. I've tested each subquery independently and each works fine and takes a very short amount of time (<= 1 second), so the view itself is sound. But as soon as the inner two SELECT queries are added with "WHERE VIEW_UNIQUE_ID IN...", it hangs. Why doesn't this query work for views? In what important way are they not interchangeable here?

    I have two Ajax CascadingDropDown extenders on my page. After a postback, the value of the first dropdown is set (presumably) triggering an event for the second dropdown to refresh. Question: How do I maintain both the contents (from queries) and selected value of both dropdowns after postback? C# answers also welcome.   • Cucumber-rails on jruby installs gem into my apps root directory with bundler

    Just installed cucumber 0.7.2 and cucumber-rails 0.3.1 with jruby-1.4.0 on OSX. When I run a bundle install, it places a cucumber-rails directory in my main app with all of the gem code/dependencies. First off, this is definitely not what I want and I'm not sure why this happens for cucumber-rails only.     Hello guys! I subclassed the UIWindow to get the clicks from UIWebView. I used a tutorial for this. Here is the link: Tutorial It is working, but after I've got and other tutorial from the writer where he shows how to highlight the text in UIWebView. Here's the second link. But I can't use this second one. I tried to run this code in the - (void)userDidTapWebView:(id)tapPoint; delegate method. This delegate method is called when I tap in the UIWebView. Maybe somebody can help me to correct the script? I would like to get the tapped anchor's link. I tried many different java script, but until now I couldn't get the tapped anchor's link. One of the tries is when I tried to add a function to document.onClick. But I tap an anchor then it needs a second tap to get the anchor and I can't get the link neither with this method.

    I'm writing a jQuery plugin to render data retrieved from another domain in an element on the page. I follow the typical pattern for my jQuery plugin: $(selector).Plugin(options); In the plugin I get external data using jQuery.getScript(url, [success]). The external data source allows me to define the name of a method and it will wrap the data in a call to that method (JSONP): $.getScript("http://www.example.com/data?callback=global_callback", instance_callback); This effectively results in: <script type="text/javascript"> global_callback(data); </script> The scope of global_callback limits what the Plugin instance can do with the data. And the global_callback method has no knowledge of the selector or options that the plugin was instantiated with. I was thinking that global_callback would just store the data, and the plugin would retrieve the data in instance_callback. But I need to make sure that instance_callback will retrieve the correct data, I foresee a problem with multiple instances of the Plugin. How can I handle this? Thanks!

    Hi there i've built a new script (from scratch not a CMS) and i've done alot of work on reducing memory usage and the time it takes for the page to be displayed (caching HTML etc) There's one thing that i'm not sure about though. Take a simple example of an article with a comments section. If the comment form posts to another page that then redirects back to the article page I won't have the problem of people clicking refresh and resending the information. However if I do it that way, I have to load up my script twice use twice as much memory and it takes twice as long whilst i'm still only displaying the page once. Here's an example from my load log. The first load of the article is from the cache, the second rebuilds the page after the comment is posted. Example 1 0 queries using 650856 bytes of memory in 0.018667 - domain.com/article/1/my_article.html 9 queries using 1325723 bytes of memory in 0.075825 - domain.com/article/1/my_article/newcomment.html 0 queries using 650856 bytes of memory in 0.029449 - domain.com/article/1/my_article.html Example 2 0 queries using 650856 bytes of memory in 0.023526 - domain.com/article/1/my_article.html 9 queries using 1659096 bytes of memory in 0.060032 - domain.com/article/1/my_article.html Obviously the time fluctuates so you can't really compare that. But as you can see with the first method I use more memory and it takes longer to load. BUT the first method avoides the refresh problem. Does anyone have any suggestions for the best approach or for alternative ways to avoid the extra load (admittadely minimal but i'd still like to avoid it) whilst also avoiding the refresh problem?

  • Fastcgi 500 error on preg_match_all in PHP

    Hi, I'm trying to set up some exotic PHP code (I'm no expert), and I get a FastCGI Error 500 on a PHP line containing 'preg_match_all'. When I comment out the line, the page is returned with a 200 (but not how it was meant to be). The code is parsing php, html and javascript content loaded from the database and is composing them to return the finished page. Now, by placing around some error_log entries I could determine that the line with the preg_match_all is the cause of the 500. However the line is hit multiple times during the loading of the page and on other occasions, the line does not cause an error. Here's how it looks like exactly: preg_match_all ("/(<([\w]+)[^>]*>)((?:.|\n)*)(<\/\\2>)/", $part['data'], $tags, PREG_PATTERN_ORDER|PREG_OFFSET_CAPTURE); The subject string is a piece of text that looks like: <script> ... some javascript functions ... </script> [Edit:] This is code that is up and running correctly elsewhere, so this very well could be a PHP setting or environment difference. I'm using PHP 5.2.13 on IIS6 with FastCGI. [Edit:] Nothing is mentioned in the log files. At least not in the ones I checked: IIS Logs Event Logs PHP Log Any thoughts or direction would be welcome.

I want to permanently increase the heap space for my tomcat apps. Look at the file tomcat-install/bin/catalina.sh or catalina.bat for how this variable is used. For example, set CATALINA_OPTS=-Xms512m -Xmx512m (Windows, no "" around the value) export CATALINA_OPTS="-Xms512m -Xmx512m" (ksh/bash, "" around the value) setenv CATALINA_OPTS "-Xms512m -Xmx512m" (tcsh/csh, "" around the value) So I replaced the line set CATALINA_OPTS= with set CATALINA_OPTS=-Xms512m -Xmx512m But I still get the error.

    Ok, so mouseOver and RollOver, and their respective outs work great as long as your mouse is actually over the item, or one of it's children. My problem is that I may have another UI component "between" my mouse and the item I want to process the mouse/rollover(maybe a button that is on top of a canvas, but is not a child of the canvas). The mouse is still over the component, there's just something else that it's over at the same time. Any tips or help how to deal with this? Let me know if I'm not being clear enough.   • Linux servers going into Halt when pressing Control-D in putty or exit in the shell

    Since today at noon, there's a number of Linux CentOS servers which are going to Halt whenever i type exit or use Control-D to close the putty window. Did anyone encounter this weird behavior before? I've checked the aliases list on the servers and there is no alias regarding halt command. After the server came online i've checked the history and saw a "logout" command there but nothing which is related to Halt. At first, i thought it happens only from my computer but later i realized that it happens to everyone which types exit, logout or control+d. 2 of these server are our main iptables firewalls and so it's super critical, your assistance is much appreciated.
