  • JQuery Tooltip and Scrollable Fix

    - by KrippledShark
I have set up the navigation on my site using a scrollable div created with Flowplayer's JQuery tools. I also want to add a tooltip to the individual images within the scrollable div. The problem is the tooltip needs to appear outside of the div. I can adjust the height of the div so you can see the tooltip, but the tooltip is still constrained inside another div. Here is the link to my code. http://staging.asla.org/sustainablesites/TestAGAIN.html Is there a way to make this tooltip (div) appear out of it's containing divs?

  • More XML Problems - Undeclared Entity 'nbsp'

    - by Gogster
I'm getting the error: Line 49: xml = r.ReadToEnd(); Line 50: Line 51: System.Xml.Linq.XDocument xmlDoc = System.Xml.Linq.XDocument.Parse(xml); Line 52: Line 53: var query = from p in xmlDoc.Descendants("member") On my XML. When I run the code to generate the XML in an empty page, it runs without error, if I call the code within my webpage it throws this error. The only 'nbsp' on the page is a doctype declaration at the top of the XSLT: <!DOCTYPE xsl:stylesheet [ <!ENTITY nbsp "&#x00A0;"> ]> I'm at a loss as to where this error is coming from and I am looking for suggestions please! Thanks.

  • Error on Access database: Permission denied: 'CreateObject'

    - by elixireu
Hi, I am migrating a website over to a new server, its in ASP and uses several Access databases, the site and CMS can read, display the data, and even edit and update existing data entries, but when I want to add a new entry, I get an error... Microsoft VBScript runtime error '800a0046' Permission denied: 'CreateObject' /padp2010d/ads_tradetracker.asp, line 11 There seems to be no passwords on the databases, I have set up and tested the ODBC Data Sources and they are working fine. The code or line that is causing the problem is... <% Dim Mail, strPath, strHost, Upload Set Upload = CreateObject("Persits.Upload") Upload.IgnoreNoPost = True ' Generate unique names Upload.OverwriteFiles = False ' Limit file size to 500000 bytes Upload.SetMaxSize 500000, True ' capture an upload and save uploaded files (if any) in temp directory Upload.SaveVirtual "\pa\images\advertenties" Upload.Save ' Use session ID as the new file name NewName = Session.SessionID The line 11 is Set Upload = CreateObject("Persits.Upload") If anyone could help that would be great. Could it be a Permission setting? Im a complete novice with ASP and Access! Thanks

  • Bash Nested Loops, mixture of dates and numbers

    - by Saleh
Hi, I am trying to output a range of commands with different dates and numbers associated. for each hour eg. Output im trying to do in a loop is: shell.sh filename<number e.g. between 1-24> <date e.g. 20100928> <number e.g. between 1-24> <id> So basically the the above will generate an output done 24 times for each particular day with a unique 4 digit id. I was thinking of having a nested loop, as the batch number needs to be unique. can anyone help?

  • Computer graphics: programatically create duotone (or separations)

    - by TarGz
There are special kind of images called "duotone" which have just two channels. It is mostly used when you want to achive higher quality reproduction - have a printing press with two colors (black , gray). My question is, I have normal gray-scale image, how to convert it to duotone? I know I can tweak the curves in Photoshop - this is not what I'm asking, rather than how to do it programmatically? Perhaps there is a library which can do just that? What about "dot gain compensation"? "Total ink coverage"?

  • Why doesn't this piece of php code work?

    - by Sam Gabriel
Hey guys, I have a mysql database which stores an id for each picture, as well as the picture's url and its thumbnail url. the thumbnail url is something like thumbs/pic.jpg and the page I'm creating has the folder thumbs in the same place it is created. But when I run this piece of code, nothing shows up: <?php ini_set('display_errors', 'On'); error_reporting(E_ALL | E_STRICT); mysql_connect("localhost", "***", "***") or die(mysql_error()); mysql_select_db("pics") or die(mysql_error()); $results = mysql_query("select id from classpics") or die(mysql_error()); $data=mysql_fetch_array($results); foreach($data as $uno) { echo '<td valign="middle" align="center"><a class="neutral" href="../images.php?id=' . $uno['id'] . '"><img src="'. $uno['thumbs'].'" border="0" /></a></td>'; } ?>

  • Can I create a collection in Scala that uses different equals/hashCode/compare implementations?

    - by Willis Blackburn
I'm looking for as simple way to create an identity set. I just want to be able to keep track of whether or not I've "seen" a particular object while traversing a graph. I can't use a regular Set because Set uses "==" (the equals method in Scala) to compare elements. What I want is a Set that uses "eq." Is there any way to create a Set in Scala that uses some application-specified method for testing equality rather than calling equals on the set elements? I looked for some kind of "wrapEquals" method that I could override but did not find it. I know that I could use Java's IdentityHashMap, but I'm looking for something more general-purpose. Another idea I had was to just wrap each set element in another object that implements equals in terms of eq, but it's wasteful to generate tons of new objects just to get a new equals implementation. Thanks!

  • Imagick: gifs, and background color

    - by TheButch3r
Hi, I have 2 questions about using the php imagick class that I can't get working properly... 1.) I tried resizing / cropping a gif, and treated it as a normal image. It seemed to work, except that a few frames in the middle of the animation contained a small patch of artifacts. Is there a setting that should be used when working with multi-frame gifs? 2.) Is there a simple command to resize images if they are too small by just adding a background? For instance, if an image is 10x10, could I add a white background, and have a 100x100px image with the original in the upper left corner? Thanks for any help!

  • How to have comments from FB app in website appear on the websites fb fanpage?

    - by Nathan Jon Grant
I m a graphic designer and have created a website in Joomla that uses a "lightbox" (ignite gallery) plugin to view images from the site. I have created a facebook 'website' app that allows for comments to be posted via facebook in the lightbox (also a like button) - all of which are really just options that you allow in the ignite gallery options. Everything seems to work fine, I can comment and it will appear under the photo in the lightbox, as I asked it too, it also sends a copy of the comment to the commenter's facebook page with links. How do I also get the comments from the website (lightbox plugin) to also appear on the clients "fan page" that already exists?? Much appreciate any help..

  • Is Pex (Test generation) really usefull tool?

    - by Yauheni Sivukha
Yes, it is possible to generate tests on boundary values for functions like "Sum" or "Divide". Pex is a good tool here. But more often we create tests on business behaviour. Let's consider example from classic Beck's tdd book: [Test] public void ShouldRoundOnCreation() { Money money = new Money(20.678); Assert.AreEqual(20.68,money.Amount); Assert.AreEqual(2068,money.Cents); } Can this test be generated? No :) 95 % of tests in my projects check business logic, and can not be generated. Pex (Especially in pair with Moles) can give 100% code coverage, but a high code coverage rate of a test suite does never indicate, that code is well tested - It only gives false confidence that everything is tested. And this is very dangerous. So, the question is - Is Pex really usefull tool?

  • Building html tables from query data... faster?

    - by Andrew Heath
With my limited experience/knowledge I am using the following structure to generate HTML tables on the fly from MySQL queries: $c = 0; $t = count($results); $table = '<table>'; while ($c < $t) { $table .= "<tr><td>$results[0]</td><td>$results[1]</td> (etc etc) </tr>"; ++$c; } $table .= '</table>'; this works, obviously. But for tables with 300+ rows there is a noticeable delay in pageload while the script builds the table. Currently the maximum results list is only about 1,100 rows, and the wait isn't long, but there's clearly a wait. Are there other methods for outputting an HTML table that are faster than my WHILE loop? (PHP only please...)

  • Why not speed up testing by using function dependency graph?

    - by Maltrap
It seems logical to me that if you have a dependency graph of your source code (tree showing call stack of all functions in your code base) you should be able to save a tremendous amount of time doing functional and integration tests after each release. Essentially you will be able to tell the testers exactly what functionality to test as the rest of the features remain unchanged from a source code point of view. If for instance you change a spelling mistake in once piece of the code, there is no reason to run through your whole test script again "just in case" you introduced a critical bug. My question, why are dependency trees not used in software engineering and if you use them, how do you maintain them? What tools are available that generate these trees for C# .NET, C++ and C source code?

  • postgreSQL - pg_class question

    - by Sachin Chourasiya
PostgreSQL stores statistics about tables in the system table called pg_class. The query planner accesses this table for every query. These statistics may only be updated using the analyze command. If the analyze command is not run often, the statistics in this table may not be accurate and the query planner may make poor decisions which can degrade system performance. Another strategy is for the query planner to generate these statistics for each query (including selects, inserts, updates, and deletes). This approach would allow the query planner to have the most up-to-date statistics possible. Why postgres always rely on pg_class instead?

  • Transform PDF to HTML, keep layout

    - by Tgr
What methods are there to transform a PDF to HTML? It could be anything - online service, software, library. (Opensource preferred. In the last case, php or python would be preferred.) It has to keep the original layout (including page numbers, footnotes and such), keep the images (combining them to one single background image per page is acceptable) and keep the links. It should preferably output valid XHTML and clean up PDF features such as ligatures, but if there is some post-processing required, I can live with that. Something with a clean, relatively semantic HTML output would be great. The closest one I found was zamzar.org, but it choked on links. (Also, the HTML output is an ugly heap of absolutely positioned divs and needs post-processing because of encoding problems.)

  • Create a "inset" effect using CSS in websites

    - by Aakash Chakravarthy
Hello, I am very much impressed by the "inset" like effect in many latest websites. Some examples are and The line in the center. Nowadays, many websites use these kinds of lines/effects. I tried to achieve the same with borders but the color combination is not working me and it is not proper. Do other websites use images for these ? is it easy to this ? Any example css ? Example sites: http://woothemes.com, http://net.tutsplus.com/ , http://www.w3schools.com (in the header) and in wordpress admin page sidebar

  • Scoping Issue with PHP Arrays

    - by Nik
I'm trying to solve this problem where I have a unique array of values within a specific range. Take this scenario: Generate a fixed value array (90) with unique entries. If you find a duplicate, remove, reindex, and fill the void. I'm running into the problem that conditional statements do not allow you to interact with an array outside of it's scope. I'm aware of array_unique but it doesn't refill those gaps, just makes them. How do I refill those gaps?

  • Unique number generation with Java Server Faces

    - by Buddhika Ariyaratne
I am developing an application for a medical channelling centre where multiple users reserve bookings for doctors with JSF and JPA. A sequence number is unique to the Doctor, Date and Session. I tried to get a unique sequence number from counting the previous bookings and add one, but if two requests comes at the same time, two bookings get the same number causing trouble to functionality. How can I get unique number in this case? Can I use an application wide bean to generate it? (I thought it is not practicle to get the unique number from the database sequence number as there are several doctors, sessions and daily they have to have different booking number.)

What could cause this??? Jquery <script> jQuery(document).ready(function() { $(".speech").animate({backgroundPosition: "-6000px 0px"}, 400000, null); }); </script> CSS .speech { /*position:fixed;*/ top:0; left:0px; height:400px; width:100%; z-index:-1; background:url(/images/speech.png) -300px -500px repeat-x; margin-right: auto; margin-left: auto; position: fixed; } HTML <div class="speech"></div>

  • Implement a calender with Ruby and Javascript in Rails

    - by samuel02
I'm trying to implement a calendar with Ruby and Javascript in Rails. I'm using a calendar helper that creates a calendar with given year and month and events as parameters (<%= calendar(:year => 2012, :month => 4, :events => @events %>). I also have three buttons next, today and previous with which the user should be able to navigate the calendar with. I am also going to implement some js that makes it possible to select dates in the calendar. So what I would like to do is to insert the calendar in the DOM with javascript in order to generate a new calendar when the user clicks one of the buttons. That way I will be able to control the behavior of the buttons and add the select functionality. The problem is that I can't just insert my erb code in a javascript plus I'm not even sure it's the right way to go? Any suggestions are appreciated!

  • Generating Source Info For Flex BitmapData.

    - by Joshua
Instead of populating the BitmapData class from an IMAGE. I would like to (within Actionscript) GENERATE some new BitmapData by capturing the Bitmap representing say, a TextArea component on the stage. In other words, sort of take a "screen capture" or "screenshot" of one of the components, and convert that into an image. Am I silly to even wonder if such a thing is feasible? Can an Air/Flex app "look at itself" in this way? Can it turn a datagrid or a canvas or a textinput into the corresponding image AS IF via screen capture? Even a hint in the right direction would be appreciated, Thanks In Advance.

  • My AES encryption/decryption functions don't work with random ivecs

    - by Brendan Long
I was bored and wrote a wrapper around openSSL to do AES encryption with less work. If I do it like this: http://pastebin.com/V1eqz4jp (ivec = 0) Everything works fine, but the default ivec is all 0's, which has some security problems. Since I'm passing the data back as a string anyway, I figured, why not generate a random ivec and stick it to the front, the take it back off when I decrypt the string? For some reason it doesn't work though. With random ivec: http://pastebin.com/MkDBFcn6 Well actually, it almost works. It seems to decrypt the middle of the string, but not the beginning or end: String is: 0123456789ABCDEF0123456789ABCDEF0123456789ABCDEF0123456789ABCDEF0123456789ABCDEF Encrypting.. ???l%%1u???B! ?????`pN)?????[l????{?Q???2?/?H??y"?=Z?Cu????l%%1u???B! Maybe some stupid mistake, or maybe I'm missing something about AES?

  • Gradient algororithm produces little white dots

    - by user146780
    I'm working on an algorithm to generate point to point linear gradients. I have a rough, proof of concept implementation done: GLuint OGLENGINEFUNCTIONS::CreateGradient( std::vector<ARGBCOLORF> &input,POINTFLOAT start, POINTFLOAT end, int width, int height,bool radial ) { std::vector<POINT> pol; std::vector<GLubyte> pdata(width * height * 4); std::vector<POINTFLOAT> linearpts; std::vector<float> lookup; float distance = GetDistance(start,end); RoundNumber(distance); POINTFLOAT temp; float incr = 1 / (distance + 1); for(int l = 0; l < 100; l ++) { POINTFLOAT outA; POINTFLOAT OutB; float dirlen; float perplen; POINTFLOAT dir; POINTFLOAT ndir; POINTFLOAT perp; POINTFLOAT nperp; POINTFLOAT perpoffset; POINTFLOAT diroffset; dir.x = end.x - start.x; dir.y = end.y - start.y; dirlen = sqrt((dir.x * dir.x) + (dir.y * dir.y)); ndir.x = static_cast<float>(dir.x * 1.0 / dirlen); ndir.y = static_cast<float>(dir.y * 1.0 / dirlen); perp.x = dir.y; perp.y = -dir.x; perplen = sqrt((perp.x * perp.x) + (perp.y * perp.y)); nperp.x = static_cast<float>(perp.x * 1.0 / perplen); nperp.y = static_cast<float>(perp.y * 1.0 / perplen); perpoffset.x = static_cast<float>(nperp.x * l * 0.5); perpoffset.y = static_cast<float>(nperp.y * l * 0.5); diroffset.x = static_cast<float>(ndir.x * 0 * 0.5); diroffset.y = static_cast<float>(ndir.y * 0 * 0.5); outA.x = end.x + perpoffset.x + diroffset.x; outA.y = end.y + perpoffset.y + diroffset.y; OutB.x = start.x + perpoffset.x - diroffset.x; OutB.y = start.y + perpoffset.y - diroffset.y; for (float i = 0; i < 1; i += incr) { temp = GetLinearBezier(i,outA,OutB); RoundNumber(temp.x); RoundNumber(temp.y); linearpts.push_back(temp); lookup.push_back(i); } for (unsigned int j = 0; j < linearpts.size(); j++) { if(linearpts[j].x < width && linearpts[j].x >= 0 && linearpts[j].y < height && linearpts[j].y >=0) { pdata[linearpts[j].x * 4 * width + linearpts[j].y * 4 + 0] = (GLubyte) j; pdata[linearpts[j].x * 4 * width + linearpts[j].y * 4 + 1] = (GLubyte) j; pdata[linearpts[j].x * 4 * width + linearpts[j].y * 4 + 2] = (GLubyte) j; pdata[linearpts[j].x * 4 * width + linearpts[j].y * 4 + 3] = (GLubyte) 255; } } lookup.clear(); linearpts.clear(); } return CreateTexture(pdata,width,height); } It works as I would expect most of the time, but at certain angles it produces little white dots. I can't figure out what does this. This is what it looks like at most angles (good) http://img9.imageshack.us/img9/5922/goodgradient.png But once in a while it looks like this (bad): http://img155.imageshack.us/img155/760/badgradient.png What could be causing the white dots? Is there maybe also a better way to generate my gradients if no solution is possible for this? Thanks

  • Should I use integer primary IDs?

    - by arthurprs
For example, I always generate an auto-increment field for the users table, but I also specify a UNIQUE index on their usernames. There are situations that I first need to get the userId for a given username and then execute the desired query, or use a JOIN in the desired query. It's 2 trips to the database or a JOIN vs. a varchar index. Should I use integer primary IDs? Is there a real performance benefit on INT over small VARCHAR indexes?
