    I have a login controller ,and after the successful login i want to pass some string value to the menu page.however it does not work.the application crashes. I have tried possible suggesstion of Ihuk and SAM from the link below http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1685964/how-to-pass-a-string-value-from-one-view-controller-to-another-view-controller loginController.h: #import <UIKit/UIKit.h> @class RootViewController; @class Menu; @interface LoginController : UIViewController { UIButton *login_Button; UITextField *username_TextField; UITextField *password_TextField; RootViewController *mc1; UINavigationController *navigationController; Menu *mv1; } @property(nonatomic,retain) IBOutlet UIButton *login_Button; @property(nonatomic,retain) IBOutlet UITextField *username_TextField; @property(nonatomic,retain) IBOutlet UITextField *password_TextField; @property(nonatomic,retain) RootViewController *mc1; @property (nonatomic, retain) IBOutlet UINavigationController *navigationController; @property(nonatomic,retain)Menu *mv1; - (IBAction)Login_Method:(id)sender; -(id)initWithUserName:(NSString *)name ; @end loginController.m #import "LoginController.h" #import "Menu.h" #import "ViewController.h" #import "RootViewController.h" @implementation LoginController @synthesize mc1,mv1; @synthesize login_Button,username_TextField,password_TextField; @synthesize navigationController; // Implement viewDidLoad to do additional setup after // loading the view, typically from a nib. - (void)viewDidLoad { if (![self.navigationController isNavigationBarHidden]) [self.navigationController setNavigationBarHidden:YES animated:NO]; //[self presentModalViewController:navigationController animated:YES]; } - (void)didReceiveMemoryWarning { // Releases the view if it doesn't have a superview. • What's the proper way to use sqlite at xCode?

    - by Elliot Chen
Hi, Experts: Can you please give some suggestions on sqlite using at xcode? Within my application, I use a sqlite DB to store all local data. Two methods can be used to retrieve those data during running time. 1, Load all the data into memory at initialization stage. (More memory used, less DB open/close operation needed) 2, Read corresponding records when necessary, free the occupied memory after using. (Good habit for memory using, but much DB open/close operations needs). I prefer to use method 2, but not sure whether too many DB opening/closing operations could affect app's efficiency. Or do you think I can 'upgrade' method 2 by opening DB when app launches and closing DB when app quits? Thanks for your suggestions very much!

  • How do I set up a proxy object in the main application NIB?

    - by zoul
Hello! I would like to set up a proxy object in the application NIB file. The problem is that the NIB file is the main application NIB that gets loaded automatically by the application and therefore I cannot set up the UINibProxiedObjectsKey dictionary as described in the documentation. Is there a way to set up a proxy object in the main application NIB? Or can I tap into the code that loads the main application NIB?

  • Is there any reason why someone would want to create an Core Data model programmatically?

    - by mystify
I wonder in which cases it would be good to make an NSManagedObjectModel completely programmatically, with NSEntityDescription instances and all this stuff. I'm that kind of person who prefers to code programmatically, rejecting Interface Builder. But when it comes to Core Data, I have a hard time figuring out why I should kill my time NOT using the nice Xcode Data Modeler tool. And since data models are stuck to a given state (except when you want to do some ugly migration operations where thinks probably go wrong and users get mad, really mad), I see no big sense in a data model that's made programmatically for the purpose of changing it all the time. Did I miss something?

  • Oracle access from iOS

    - by Michael Lowman
I'm developing an iPad app that needs read-only access to an Oracle database. Is there any way to do this? As far as I can see, the only options are using OCI, which requires a prebuilt binary in the form of the instant client (and not built for ARM), or OJDBC drivers. Both of these seem to be out of the question. In my research I have discovered that libmysqlclient compiles for arm with minimal tuning. This is a stretch, but is there any possible way to use this to my advantage? I have seen this product providing odbc connectivity through the use of a Windows gateway machine using the ODBC client libraries, but this solution really isn't an option for me at the present time. Any ideas?

  • Developer Deep Dive into Oracle WebLogic Server 12c (Dec. 1)

    - by oracletechnet
It is not often that we are compelled to direct you toward a product launch event. But this one is special. On Dec. 1, Oracle will launch (via live Webcast) Oracle WebLogic Server 12c, a major update to that product. And this release, which includes Java EE 6 support, Active GridLink for Oracle RAC, and Oracle Virtual Assembly Builder, among other things, is specifically designed to improve the process of deploying apps to the cloud. Even better: the Dec. 1 Webcast includes an hour-long, developer-focused deep-dive session in which product experts will answer your questions via live chat. (Register for this session separately.) You don't want to miss this one, folks!

  • Nil string with [NSString stringWithFormat:] appears as "(null)"

    - by Supernico
I have a 'Contact' class with two properties : firstName and lastName. When I want to display a contact's full name, here is what I do: NSString *fullName = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%@ %@", contact.firstName, contact.lastName]; But when the firstName and/or lastName is set to nil, I get a "(null)" in the fullName string. To prevent it, here's what I do: NSString *first = contact.firstName; if(first == nil) first = @""; NSString *last = contact.lastName; if(last == nil) last = @""; NSString *fullName = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%@ %@", first, last]; Does someone know a better/more concise way to do this?

  • Evaluating server certificate

    - by Raven
Hi, How can I detect a self signed certificate from a revoked or expired ones? I'm using NSURLConnection and implementing connection:didReceiveAuthenticationChallenge: on delegate: - (void)connection:(NSURLConnection *)connection didReceiveAuthenticationChallenge:(NSURLAuthenticationChallenge *)challenge{ if ([challenge.protectionSpace.authenticationMethod isEqualToString:NSURLAuthenticationMethodServerTrust]){ NSURLProtectionSpace *tmpSpace=[challenge protectionSpace]; SecTrustRef currentServerTrust=[tmpSpace serverTrust]; SecTrustResultType trustResult; OSStatus err = SecTrustEvaluate(currentServerTrust, &trustResult); BOOL trusted = (err == noErr) && ((trustResult == kSecTrustResultProceed) || (trustResult == kSecTrustResultUnspecified)); if (trusted){ // Do something } } } Currently the "if (trusted){}" block only work for certificates trusted by iOS, I want it to work for others as well, but only if the certificate isn't revoked or expired. The documentation is using SecTrustSettingsSetTrustSettings for changing the settings and reevaluate the trust. but I couldn't find this method (or the SecTrustSetting) for iOS, only for Mac. Thanks

  • SQLite SQLite column can't be updated to any value but zero (real type)

    - by user1065320
Hi I'm trying to create a three fields table (date, text, real), I can insert and update the first two fields but can't set or update the last one. createSQL = @"CREATE TABLE IF NOT EXISTS ACTIVITIES (MYDATE DATETIME PRIMARY KEY, ACTIVITY TEXT , LENGTH REAL);"; try to insert char *update = "INSERT OR REPLACE INTO ACTIVITIES (MYDATE, ACTIVITY , LENGTH) VALUES (?, ? ,?);"; sqlite3_stmt *stmt; if (sqlite3_prepare_v2(database, update , -1, &stmt, nil) == SQLITE_OK) { sqlite3_bind_double(stmt, 1, valueToWrite); sqlite3_bind_text(stmt, 2, [task UTF8String], -1, NULL); sqlite3_bind_double(stmt, 3, 1.5); } if (sqlite3_step(stmt) != SQLITE_DONE) { NSAssert1(0, @"Error updating table: %s", errorMsg); } sqlite3_finalize(stmt); sqlite3_close(database); The first two values are updated but the last one remains 0 even if I'm writing a value like 1.5 or put a double variable with a different value Thanks

  • cocos2d 2.x scene retainCount

    - by Shefy Gur-ary
I'm pushing a scene to the game I'm working on, after pressing a button in the main menu. This scene is a gameplayScene which should have two layers ad childs: boardLayer and hudLayer. for now I'm testing with the boardLayer, I'm using block to call the gameplayScene to close both itself and the boardLayer, but by the time I get there the retain count of both layer is 3 (seems to be increasing after setting the block to 2, and I'm not sure when it is going up to 3) What cause this, and how should it be handled?

  • Explanation of `self` usage during dealloc?

    - by Greg
I'm trying to lock down my understanding of proper memory management within Objective-C. I've gotten into the habit of explicitly declaring self.myProperty rather than just myProperty because I was encountering occasional scenarios where a property would not be set to the reference that I intended. Now, I'm reading Apple documentation on releasing IBOutlets, and they say that all outlets should be set to nil during dealloc. So, I put this in place as follows and experienced crashes as a result: - (void)dealloc { [self.dataModel close]; [self.dataModel release], self.dataModel = nil; [super dealloc]; } So, I tried taking out the "self" references, like so: - (void)dealloc { [dataModel close]; [dataModel release], dataModel = nil; [super dealloc]; } This second system seems to work as expected. However, it has me a bit confused. Why would self cause a crash in that case, when I thought self was a fairly benign reference more used as a formality than anything else? Also, if self is not appropriate in this case, then I have to ask: when should you include self references, and when should you not?

  • How to make a table view which can be scrolled for ever?

    - by mystify
I have a set of 100 rows, pretty similar to values which can be selected in a picker. When the user scrolls the table, I want the rows to be appended like an forever-ongoing assembly-belt. So when the user scrolls down and reaches the row 100, and scrolls even further, the table view will show again row 1, and so on. Reverse direction same thing. My thoughts: don't display scroll indicators (they would make not much sense, probably) what value to return in the numberOfRows delegate method? This infinity constant? in cellForRowAtIndexPath: simply wrap the index around when it exceeds bounds?

  • NSInvocation: object does not implement methodSignatureForSelector

    - by Sam V
I have this weird crash that only happens when running the app on the device (doesn't happen in the Simulator). It seems like the problem surfaces out of nowhere, as I haven't changed anything on that particular class. I had the very same issue a few days ago, and I ended up fixing it by duplicating the class, renaming it, and changing the referenced class — I haven't changed a single bit of code. So I'm trying to understand why it's doing this. I've read somewhere that usually you get this console error when the object isn't a subclass of NSObject (but it is!). Here's the exact console error message: *** NSInvocation: warning: object 0x679e0 of class 'FFProximityPickerView' does not implement methodSignatureForSelector: -- trouble ahead *** NSInvocation: warning: object 0x679e0 of class 'FFProximityPickerView' does not implement doesNotRecognizeSelector: -- abort And then it crashes. I'd be very thankful for anyone who can help me on this.

  • iOS Core Data migration: moving something from an entity into a file

    - by Tim Sullivan
I have a scenario where I'm moving the contents of a blob stored in a core data entity into a file. I need a way to export that data during a migration, where I know the entity that's being converted and save the blob to a file, writing the location of that file into the converted entity's appropriate attribute. I can't seem to find a way to do this. The docs regarding the Three Stage Migration seem to indicate what can be done, but I'm not sure where to define things, or what exactly to define.
