  • Can't find a wireless access point's IP address after changing router IP/LAN settings

    - by flagg19
I have a modem/router, Netgear DG834, and a wireless access point (AP), Netgear WG602. The AP is directly connected to the router. My old working configuration was: Router IP address : 192.168.0.1 Access point IP address: 192.168.0.10 My new configuration is: Router IP address : 192.168.1.1 Access point IP address: ???.???.???.??? I changed my router's IP address/LAN settings to set up a VPN with another Netgear router that had the same LAN configuration. The wireless network is still up and perfectly working, but I can't find the AP's IP address. I've tried broadcast ping but the AP won't respond. I looked at the router "attached devices", but it's not there. I've played around with Nmap and arp request but the AP is totally invisible. I can fix it by resetting it to factory settings, but I'm very interested in learning more about this problem. I'm also interested in network security and this fact of having an invisible AP well, it's something I'd like to understand.

  • How to do binding programmically?

    - by user175908
Hello, Could anyone identify the problem in this code? (I'm kinda newbie in WPF bindings.) This code executes after chart is loaded when I click a button: I get this error: Update: I dont get that error anymore. Thanks to Tomas. Now no error occur but chart looks completely blank (no columns) Update: Code now looks like this: // create a very simple DataSet var dataSet = new DataSet("MyDataSet"); var table = dataSet.Tables.Add("MyTable"); table.Columns.Add("Name"); table.Columns.Add("Price"); table.Rows.Add("Brick", 1.5d); table.Rows.Add("Soap", 4.99d); table.Rows.Add("Comic Book", 0.99d); // chart series var series = new ColumnSeries() { IndependentValueBinding = new Binding("[Name]"), // How to deal with DependentValueBinding = new Binding("[Price]"), // these two? ItemsSource = dataSet.Tables[0].DefaultView // or maybe I do mistake here? }; // ---------- set additional binding as adviced ------------------ series.SetBinding(ColumnSeries.ItemsSourceProperty, new Binding()); // chart stuff MyChart.Series.Add(series); MyChart.Title = "Names 'n Prices"; // some code to remove legend var style = new Style(typeof(Control)); style.Setters.Add(new Setter(LegendItem.TemplateProperty, null)); MyChart.LegendStyle = style; XAML: <Window x:Class="BindingzTest.MainWindow" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" Title="MainWindow" Height="606" Width="988" xmlns:charting="clr-namespace:System.Windows.Controls.DataVisualization.Charting;assembly=System.Windows.Controls.DataVisualization.Toolkit"> <Grid Name="LayoutRoot"> <charting:Chart Name="MyChart" Margin="0,0,573,0" Height="289" VerticalAlignment="Top" /> <Button Content="Button" Height="23" HorizontalAlignment="Left" Margin="272,361,0,0" Name="button1" VerticalAlignment="Top" Width="75" Click="chart1_Loaded" /> </Grid> Thanks for help in advance once more.

  • Good documentation tool that is not Latex?

    - by flpgdt
I am far from being a expert in Latex but I'm ok to document my projects with it. Though I would seldom find people in the corporate word eager to learn latex and going along with the documentation. 99% of the cases they would just ask me the Word version of it. For technical documentation I find less resistance, but still, whenever I start a project with someone not familiar with latex, the starting up is troublesome. That said, latex is a bit of an oversize tool for my needs really. My documents hardly go further from tables, lists, few images and type styles (although I'd love to still be able to produce hyperlinked PDFs). What are other tools there, simpler and with a easier learning curve than Latex, but still PDF worthy and with minimally decent capabilities? It also has to run on windows :( Oh. yeah, MSWord is not an option ;)

  • How to determine what program send the packet recorded in Wireshark?

    - by Tono Nam
I was taking some tutorials on Wireshark in order to analyze the packets sent and received when talking to a web server for purposes of learning. When I start listening/recording packets in Wireshark, there where so many packages being recorded (700 packages per minute). Is it normal to have that much traffic if I have all the programs that will cause traffic such as all browsers, log me in, dropbox, goto meeting, etc., closed? In order to try to solve the problem I am analyzing random packets. Take for instance this filter: I just selected a random IP: 74.125.130.99. So how can I know from what program those packets where created? Also how can I get more info about that communication bwtween my computer (192.168.0.139) and that server (74.125.130.99)? I just selected a random IP from the Wireshark capture. There are also other IPs that I have no idea why they are communicating with my computer. How can I figure that out?

  • Flash Player scripting + IE8

    - by Joel Alejandro
    I've developed a small control bar for a Flash viewer generated by a third-party software. It has a First, Prev, Next & Last button, and a Zoom command. While Zoom works fine in all browsers, the navigation buttons seem to fail at Internet Explorer 8. I use at least two functions. This one locates the Flash object I want to manipulate: function getFlashMovieObject(movieName) { if (window.document[movieName]) { return window.document[movieName]; } if (navigator.appName.indexOf("Microsoft Internet")==-1) { if (document.embeds && document.embeds[movieName]) return document.embeds[movieName]; } else // if (navigator.appName.indexOf("Microsoft Internet")!=-1) { return document.getElementById(movieName); } } ...and any of these ones handles the frame navigation: var currentFrame = 0; function gotoFirst(id) { getFlashMovieObject(id + "Blueprints").Rewind(); currentFrame = 0; $("currentFrame").innerHTML = currentFrame + 1; $("frameTitle").innerHTML = frameTitles[id][currentFrame]; } function gotoPrev(id) { var movie = getFlashMovieObject(id + "Blueprints"); if (currentFrame 0) { currentFrame--; } movie.GotoFrame(currentFrame); $("currentFrame").innerHTML = currentFrame + 1; $("frameTitle").innerHTML = frameTitles[id][currentFrame]; } function gotoNext(id) { var movie = getFlashMovieObject(id + "Blueprints"); if (currentFrame < movie.TotalFrames() - 1) { currentFrame++; } movie.GotoFrame(currentFrame); $("currentFrame").innerHTML = currentFrame + 1; $("frameTitle").innerHTML = frameTitles[id][currentFrame]; } function gotoLast(id) { var movie = getFlashMovieObject(id + "Blueprints"); currentFrame = movie.TotalFrames() - 1; movie.GotoFrame(currentFrame); $("currentFrame").innerHTML = currentFrame + 1; $("frameTitle").innerHTML = frameTitles[id][currentFrame]; } Btw, that $ is MooTools, not jQuery. Anyway, IE dies on the movie.TotalFrames() call. What can I do to solve this? Keep in mind I need this to be done via JavaScript, as I cannot edit the SWF.

  • WCF service reference namespace differs from original

    - by Thorarin
I'm having a problem regarding namespaces used by my service references. I have a number of WCF services, say with the namespace MyCompany.Services.MyProduct (the actual namespaces are longer). As part of the product, I'm also providing a sample C# .NET website. This web application uses the namespace MyCompany.MyProduct. During initial development, the service was added as a project reference to the website and uses directly. I used a factory pattern that returns an object instance that implements MyCompany.Services.MyProduct.IMyService. So far, so good. Now I want to change this to use an actual service reference. After adding the reference and typing MyCompany.Services.MyProduct in the namespace textbox, it generates classes in the namespace MyCompany.MyProduct.MyCompany.Services.MyProduct. BAD! I don't want to have to change using directives in several places just because I'm using a proxy class. So I tried prepending the namespace with global::, but that is not accepted. Note that I hadn't even deleted the original assembly references yet, and "reuse types" is enabled, but no reusing was done, apparently. However, I don't want to keep the assembly references around in my sample website for it to work anyway. The only solution I've come up with so far is setting the default namespace for my web application to MyCompany (because it cannot be empty), and adding the service reference as Services.MyProduct. Suppose that a customer wants to use my sample website as a starting point, and they change the default namespace to OtherCompany.Whatever, this will obviously break my workaround. Is there a good solution to this problem? To summarize: I want to generate a service reference proxy in the original namespace, without referencing the assembly. Note: I have seen this question, but there was no solution provided that is acceptable for my use case. Edit: As John Saunders suggested, I've submitted some feedback to Microsoft about this: Feedback item @ Microsoft Connect

  • Configuring Bind9 on ubuntu

    - by Jerry
I am trying to configure name server on Ubuntu just for learning. I have followed this tutorial. After configuring bind9 I have restarted it and works well. I have no registered domain name and public IP, so I have used a random domain name(khalidiitdu.com) that is not registered. When I dig khalidiitdu.com, it shows status: NXDOMAIN. If I use nslookup command, it shows ** server can't find khalidiitdu.com: NXDOMAIN. Now question is: Is registered domain mandatory to configure bind9 within a LAN? If not please suggest me alternative ways. Thanks.....

  • Is it possible to have zsh+keychain+tmux not ask for keys?

    - by Wayne Werner
I'm using tmux and zsh, and I've recently been learning about ssh-agent and keychain. From the manpage for zsh, it says that it will source .zlogin only if the shell is, well, a login shell. Following advice I read, I stuck keychain --clear in my .zlogin, which worked perfectly. When I logged into the box I had to unlock my key. However, each time I create a new window in tmux, it clears/makes me re-add my key. This is a little annoying... but I can understand it if, in fact, each new tmux window is a login window. I haven't been able to find much help outside of the manpages on this topic. So is each new tmux window a login shell, or is there any way that I can make it not clear my keys only when I create a tmux window?

  • Cannot access resource defined in app.xaml

  • How can I bind another DependencyProperty to the IsChecked Property of a CheckBox?

    - by speedmetal
    Here's an example of what I'm trying to accomplish: <Window x:Class="CheckBoxBinding.MainWindow" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" Title="MainWindow" Height="350" Width="525"> <StackPanel> <CheckBox Name="myCheckBox">this</CheckBox> <Grid> <Grid.Resources> <Style TargetType="ListBox"> <Style.Triggers> <Trigger Property="{Binding ElementName=myCheckBox, Path=IsChecked}" Value="True"> <Setter Property="Background" Value="Red" /> </Trigger> </Style.Triggers> </Style> </Grid.Resources> <ListBox> <ListBoxItem>item</ListBoxItem> <ListBoxItem>another</ListBoxItem> </ListBox> </Grid> </StackPanel> </Window> When I try to run it, I get this XamlParseException: A 'Binding' cannot be set on the 'Property' property of type 'Trigger'. A 'Binding' can only be set on a DependencyProperty of a DependencyObject. So how can I bind a property on the ListBox to the IsChecked property of a CheckBox?

  • Set form MinWidth and MinHeight based on child property

    - by Jon Mitchell
I'm writing an application in WPF using the MVVM pattern. In my application I've got an IPopupWindowService which I use to create a popup dialog window. So to show a ViewModel in a popup window you'd do something like this: var container = ServiceLocator.Current.GetInstance<IUnityContainer>(); var popupService = container.Resolve<IPopupWindowService>(); var myViewModel = container.Resolve<IMyViewModel>(); popupService.Show((ViewModelBase)myViewModel); This is all well and good. What I want to do is be able to set the MinHeight and MinWidth on the View bound to myViewModel and have the popup window use those settings so that a user cannot make the window smaller than its contents will allow. At the moment when the user shrinks the window the contents stops resizing but the window doesn't. EDIT: I map my Views to my ViewModels in ResourceDictionarys like so: <DataTemplate DataType="{x:Type ViewModels:MyViewModel}"> <Views:MyView /> </DataTemplate> And my popup view looks like this: <Window x:Class="TheCompany.Cubit.Shell.Views.PopupWindowView" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" SizeToContent="WidthAndHeight" WindowStartupLocation="CenterOwner"> <DockPanel x:Name="panelContent"> <StackPanel HorizontalAlignment="Right" DockPanel.Dock="Bottom" Orientation="Horizontal" Visibility="{Binding RelativeSource={RelativeSource AncestorType=Window},Path=ButtonPanelVisibility}"> <Button Width="75" IsDefault="True" x:Uid="ViewDialog_AcceptButton" Click="OnAcceptButtonClick" Margin="4">OK</Button> <Button Width="75" IsCancel="True" x:Uid="ViewDialog_CancelButton" Click="OnCancelButtonClick" Margin="0,4,4,4">Cancel</Button> </StackPanel> <ContentPresenter Content="{Binding}" /> </DockPanel>

  • Practical tips when transitioning to xmonad?

    - by meder
I like the idea and concept of xmonad, however I still keep going back to gnome after an hour or so. This feels like when I first tried to learn vim, but I've gotten past the learning curve point and can't live without vim nowadays. I'm sure the time will come for xmonad too, but I was wondering if current xmonad users can provide transitional tips? FYI, I'm on dual monitors ( 19 inch and 17 inch ). Example of an issue I'm having while in this "transitional" stage: How do you manage keeping the browser and other programs that are most commonly used in full screen mode, since by default I think it opens up in a small tile that takes up a portion of the screen? Do you just shortcut it to make it open full screen, or do you actually not maximize it? Or are there advanced methods through preferences in the conf file, making certain programs take up X space?

  • How to set margin for inner controls of WrapPanel

    - by Andrey Tagaew
Hi Guys! I'm new in WPF and have a question. Here is an example that I'm using: <Window x:Class="WpfApplication2.MainWindow" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" Title="MainWindow" Height="350" Width="525"> <StackPanel> <WrapPanel Orientation="Horizontal" > <Button Content="test1" Margin="10,0" Padding="10,10" /> <Button Content="test2" Margin="10,0" Padding="10,10" /> <Button Content="test3" Margin="10,0" Padding="10,10" /> <Button Content="test4" Margin="10,0" Padding="10,10" /> <Button Content="test5" Margin="10,0" Padding="10,10" /> </WrapPanel> </StackPanel> As you can see, my wrap panel has several buttons. Each button has the same margin and padding. The question is, is there a way of setting margin and padding for wrap panel, so each element inside the wrap panel may use it values? This make the code shorter and let me specify Margin and Padding only one time instead of setting it for each control in the panel. Thank you!

  • Is there a fundamental difference between malloc and HeapAlloc (aside from the portability)?

    - by Lambert
Hi, I'm having code that, for various reasons, I'm trying to port from the C runtime to one that uses the Windows Heap API. I've encountered a problem: If I redirect the malloc/calloc/realloc/free calls to HeapAlloc/HeapReAlloc/HeapFree (with GetProcessHeap for the handle), the memory seems to be allocated correctly (no bad pointer returned, and no exceptions thrown), but the library I'm porting says "failed to allocate memory" for some reason. I've tried this both with the Microsoft CRT (which uses the Heap API underneath) and with another company's run-time library (which uses the Global Memory API underneath); the malloc for both of those works well with the library, but for some reason, using the Heap API directly doesn't work. I've checked that the allocations aren't too big (= 0x7FFF8 bytes), and they're not. The only problem I can think of is memory alignment; is that the case? Or other than that, is there a fundamental difference between the Heap API and the CRT memory API that I'm not aware of? If so, what is it? And if not, then why does the static Microsoft CRT (included with Visual Studio) take some extra steps in malloc/calloc before calling HeapAlloc? I'm suspecting there's a difference but I can't think of what it might be. Thank you!

  • UnauthorizedAccessException in ComRegisterFunction when accessing registry on Win 7 64.

I have a [ComRegisterFunction] that I am using to register a BHO Internet explorer extension. During registration on 64-bit windows 7 machines, a UnauthorizedAccessException is thrown on the call to subKey.SetValue("NoExplorer", 1). • What are the minimum required modules to run WordPress

    - by Mister IT Guru
Recently a 'consultant' came in to talk to bean counters at my place of employment, with regards to being more efficient with our IT infrastructure. They suggested to be more efficient we should only load the Apache modules that are required on our web servers. (This is just 1 of 1Ks of suggestions). The Bean Counters are very excited, and prepared for me to spend the time to investigate this avenue of cost cutting. I don't mind this mundane exercise, I see it as a learning experience! I guess this leads me to the actual question: How can I determine the minimum required apache modules for a PHP based application without actually going through the code, or plain old trial and error?

  • XAttribute Generating strange namespaces

I'm constructing an XElement with a couple attributes that have different namespaces. The code looks like this: var element = new XElement("SynchronousCommand", new XAttribute("{wcm}action", "add"), new XAttribute("{ns}id", Guid.NewGuid()), new XElement... ); The XML that is generated looks like this: <unattend xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xmlns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:unattend"> <SynchronousCommand d5p1:action="add" d5p2:id="c0f5fc6d-d407-4d3d-8a05-d84236cca2fb" xmlns:d5p2="ns" xmlns:d5p1="wcm"> ... </SynchronousCommand> </unattend> I'm just wondering if the auto-generated d5p2 is valid and why it is doing this. According to the XML standards here it seems like it would be valid. • Expression Blend doesn't recognize command objects declared in code behind file

    - by Brian Ensink
    I have a WPF UserControl. The code behind file declares some RoutedUICommand objects which are referenced in the XAML. The application builds and runs just fine. However Expression Blend 3 cannot load the XAML in the designer and gives errors like this one: The member "ResetCameraCommand" is not recognized or accessible. The class and the member are both public. Building and rebuilding the project in Blend and restarting Blend hasn't helped. Any ideas what the problem is? Here are fragments of my XAML ... <UserControl x:Class="CAP.Visual.CameraAndLightingControl" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" xmlns:local="clr-namespace:CAP.Visual;assembly=VisualApp" Height="100" Width="700"> <UserControl.CommandBindings> <CommandBinding Command="local:CameraAndLightingControl.ResetCameraCommand" Executed="ResetCamera_Executed" CanExecute="ResetCamera_CanExecute"/> </UserControl.CommandBindings> .... ... and the code behind C# namespace CAP.Visual { public partial class CameraAndLightingControl : UserControl { public readonly static RoutedUICommand ResetCameraCommand; static CameraAndLightingControl() { ResetCameraCommand = new RoutedUICommand("Reset Camera", "ResetCamera", typeof(CameraAndLightingControl)); }

  • Is there a way to touch-enable scrolling in a WPF ScrollViewer?

    - by Brian Sullivan
I'm trying to create a form in a WPF application that will allow the user to use iPhone-like gestures to scroll through the available fields. So, I've put all my form controls inside a StackPanel inside a ScrollViewer, and the scrollbar shows up as expected when there are too many elements to be shown on the screen. However, when I try to test this on my touch-enabled device, a panning gesture (placing a finger down on the surface and dragging it upward) does not move the viewable area down as I would expect. When I simply put a number of elements inside a ListView, the touch gestures work just fine. Is there any way to enable the same kind of behavior in a ScrollViewer? My window is structured like this: <Window x:Class="TestTouchScrolling.MainWindow" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" Title="MainWindow" Height="350" Width="525" Loaded="Window_Loaded"> <Grid> <ScrollViewer Name="viewer" VerticalScrollBarVisibility="Auto"> <StackPanel Name="panel"> <StackPanel Orientation="Horizontal"> <Label>Label 1:</Label> <TextBox Name="TextBox1"></TextBox> </StackPanel> <StackPanel Orientation="Horizontal"> <Label>Label 2:</Label> <TextBox Name="TextBox2"></TextBox> </StackPanel> <StackPanel Orientation="Horizontal"> <Label>Label 3:</Label> <TextBox Name="TextBox3"></TextBox> </StackPanel> <!-- Lots more like these --> </StackPanel> </ScrollViewer> </Grid>
