• Why does my co-worker see a different Project file (*.csproj) using Visual Source Safe

• Why does Silverlight player mislead user by leading him to think he can "choose whether to download

  I have a silverlight application which users can install out-of-browser. • Core data migration failing with "Can't find model for source store" but managedObjectModel for source is present

  I have a cocoa application using core-data, which is now at the 4th version of its managed object model. My managed object model contains abstract entities but so far I have managed to get migration working by creating appropriate mapping models and creating my persistent store using addPersistentStoreWithType:configuration:options:error and with the NSMigratePersistentStoresAutomaticallyOption set to YES. NSDictionary *optionsDictionary = [NSDictionary dictionaryWithObject:[NSNumber numberWithBool:YES] forKey:NSMigratePersistentStoresAutomaticallyOption]; NSURL *url = [NSURL fileURLWithPath: [applicationSupportFolder stringByAppendingPathComponent: @"MyApp.xml"]]; NSError *error=nil; [theCoordinator addPersistentStoreWithType:NSXMLStoreType configuration:nil URL:url options:optionsDictionary error:&error] This works fine when I migrate from model version 3 to 4, which is a migration that involves adding attributes to several entities. Now when I try to add a new model version (version 5), the call to addPersistentStoreWithType returns nil and the error remains empty. The migration from 4 to 5 involves adding a single attribute. I am struggling to debug the problem and have checked all the following; The source database is in fact at version 4 and the persistentStoreCoordinator's managed object model is at version 5. The 4-5 mapping model as well as managed object models for versions 4 and 5 are present in the resources folder of my built application. I've tried various model upgrade paths. Strangely I find that upgrading from an early version 3 - 5 works .. but upgrading from 4 - 5 fails. I've tried adding a custom entity migration policy for migration of the entity whose attributes are changing ... in this case I overrode the method beginEntityMapping:manager:error: . Interestingly this method does get called when migration works (ie when I migrate from 3 to 4, or from 3 to 5 ), but it does not get called in the case that fails ( 4 to 5 ). I'm pretty much at a loss as to where to proceed. Any ideas to help debug this problem would be much appreciated.

  I'm scanning a text document for certain installed programs on a computer and looking for an easy way to include a greater or less than variable in the string I'm scanning for. Here is a very ugly and cumbersome example of what I'm using currently and while it works as a temporary fix, isn't practical or sustainable. I'm sure whatever solution is offered can likely be adapted to similar programs I'm likely to encounter later. • iPhone: How to run a Beta build, in addition to the App Store build?

  Hi, All! I have an app on the Store for which we’re readying an update. The other members of our team have the App Store version already loaded up (~purchased) on their respective iPhones -- and those contain User Data which each member needs to be able to keep. In the meantime, we need to test out a Beta version of the next version of the app. Presumably, we’d need to have the two versions (ad hoc, and app store) co-existing on each device, at least until everyone’s signed off on the beta, and it’s uploaded to the store (at which point, they'd delete the beta version). [Once it’s on the Store, of course, they can each update their main (i.e., Release) version of the app via the usual App Store 'update' mechanism -- and then delete the beta version from their devices. In that case, all their user data is still retained intact.] So assuming that’s the proper workflow ... How do I issue a Beta to the team, and have it not replace/overwrite the existing App Store version? I’ve tried customizing parameters in the beta’s “[appname]-Info.plist”, but haven’t found a setting yet that allows the two versions (beta and release) to co-exist on the same device. Any ideas? And is this this is the proper approach to them being able to keep their data? (And last, how might I do it with & without a script? I assume there's just one parameter that'd need to be changed.) I hope this all makes sense -- thank you in advance for your help!

• IIS7 + WCF + Silverlight problems

  Hey, I've been building a silverlight application and a WCF service for a while now and recently tried to host them in IIS7. I installed IIS7 on Windows Server 2008 R2 and added these two application to my default website. I am having a number of problems so im hoping one of you can help out... 1) The silverlight and WCF service applications do not work with pass-through authentication. I need to "connect as" the administrator server account when setting up the application. I read online that you should only need to use the "connect as" field when you are connecting to another computer. If i dont supply the admin credentials i get this error. Do i have to set up permissions somewhere else? HTTP Error 500.19 - Internal Server Error The requested page cannot be accessed because the related configuration data for the page is invalid. • Intellij Idea 13.x and ASM 5.x library incompatible?

  I can't get Intellij Idea 13.0 to compile my code against ASM 5.0.3 I have a multi-module Maven project. It compiles and installs successfully. Apparently com.google.findbugs:findbugs has a dependency on asm:asm:3.3 and I want to use org.ow2.asm:asm:5.0.3 to manipulate some bytecode. So in the parent pom.xml I exclude the asm:asm:3.3 dependencies from the classpath. This works fine when I run mvn install from the command line. I can't get the Build - Make Project menu selection to work in Intellij Idea. • Recovery of Windows DFS partion with shadow copy versioned files when overwritten with older modifie

  I've noticed the following "bug" on a DFS volume with shadow copies: Pretend you have the following folders/files under shadow copy versioning, going back two weeks. MyDirectory+ MyFile - Modified Date 8/1/2009 The current date: 8/30/2009 You have another version of MyFile stored elsewhere, with a modified date of 7/1/2009. Copy your other version of MyFile into MyDirectory, overwriting the newest version. I expected that you could roll back to the version that was there when it last imaged, say on the prior day and recover your 8/1 version. Not the case. Now, when you go to look at previous versions for the past two weeks, the versioning of that file will be entirely lost, and you'll be stuck with your older 7/1 version. Suckage. Questions: (1) Is this intentional, and if so, what's the rationale? I assume that DFS picks up on the versioning based on the current file, and that's what's wiping out prior versions, but it seems like a fairly stupid/naive way of handling versioning to me. (2) Is there a way to backtrack out of this, without resorting to restoration from other backup mediums? Thanks!

• Unable to stop chrome.exe *32

  So I was installing roboform today and was unable to stop the process chrome.exe *32... Even when I uninstalled chrome. This is the error I got: I used lockhunter and it said it was located in %appdata%\Local\Google\Chrome. However, it was unable to unlock, delete or rename. When I use explorer to delete or rename that folder, it says it's being used by Chrome. Even after restarting my computer it still does this. I've tried using the built in chrome task manager (Wrench View Background Pages) and I can't seem to find a process there that has the same amount of memory. I have run many, many virus scans, by: Microsoft security essentials AVG (Free version) Malwarebytes (Pro version) Norton 360 (Pro version) McAfee (Pro Version) Avira (Free version) Avast! Antivirus (Free version) None of which returned with any viruses.   I originally asked and answered this question: How can I use the Homebrew Python version with Homebrew MacVim? These instructions worked on Snow Leopard using Xcode 4.0.1 and associated developer tools. However, they no longer seem to work on Mountain Lion with Xcode 4.4.1. My goal is to leave the system's version of Python completely untouched, and to only install PyPI packages into Homebrew's site-packages directory. I want to use the vim_bridge package in MacVim, so I need to compile MacVim against the Homebrew version of Python. I've edited the MacVim formula to add these to the arguments: --enable-pythoninterp=dynamic --with-python-config-dir=/usr/local/Cellar/python/2.7.3/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/Current/lib/python2.7/config Then I install with the command: brew install macvim --override-system-vim --custom-icons --with-cscope --with-lua However, it still seems to be somehow using Python 2.7.2 from the system. In addition, if possible, we would also like to know which of the below files (if any) come shipped and registered with the Windows 8 RT (on ARM) version. • How to get an ARM CPU clock speed in Linux?

  I have an ARM-based embedded machine based on S3C2416 board. According to the specifications I have available there should be a 533 MHz ARM9 (ARM926EJ-S according to /proc/cpuinfo), however the software running on it "feels" slow, compared to the same software on my Android phone with a 528MHz ARM CPU. /proc/cpuinfo tells me that BogoMIPS is 266.24. I know that I should not trust BogoMIPS regarding performance ("Bogo" = bogus), however I would like to get a measurement on the actual CPU speed. On x86, I could use the rdtsc instruction to get the time stamp counter, wait a second (sleep(1)), read the counter again to get an approximation on the CPU speed, and according to my experience, this value was close enough to the real CPU speed. How can I find the actual CPU speed of given ARM processor? Update I found this simple Pi calculator, which I compiled both for my Android phone and the ARM board. The results are as follows: S3C2416 # cat /proc/cpuinfo Processor : ARM926EJ-S rev 5 (v5l) BogoMIPS : 266.24 Features : swp half fastmult edsp java ... #./pi_arm 10000 Calculation of PI using FFT and AGM, ver.   My Apache process segfaults whenever I call curl_exec() from PHP with an "https://" URL. If I use http instead of https as the URL transport, it works perfectly, so I know curl and the other curl options are correct. I can use curl from the command-line on that server using the https version of the URL and it works perfectly, so I know the remote server is responding correctly, the cert isn't expired, etc.. • Conditionally permitting HTTP-only requests to Tomcat?

  I have 2 versions of a system: Tomcat webserver Nginx reverse-proxy sitting in front of a tomcat webserver. In version 2, nginx only ever talks to Tomcat over HTTP. A user could configure the system so that only HTTPS requests are allowed. If the user does this in Version 1 and then the XML configuration files for Tomcat takes care of this. In version 2, nginx takes care of this. The problem is this: I cannot force a user to update their Tomcat XML config files when they upgrade from version 1 to version 2 (it will be recommended that they do so) because this is done as part of a larger process. This means that if they upgrade and don't update the Tomcat config, an HTTPS request will arrive at nginx, which will proxy it over HTTP to Tomcat which will reject the request because it is not HTTPS. So I can't force an update to the Tomcat XML, and I have to use HTTP between nginx and Tomcat. Any ideas? Is there some way I can affect how Tomcat reads its config in Version 2 so that it ignores the HTTPS-only section?

• Unable to use OpenGL or install nVidia driver on openSUSE 12.2

  I have an ASUS N76VZ laptop with 12.2 openSUSE and GeForce GT650M card. I found that KDE doesn't allow me to use OpenGL rendering. I tried to install nVidia's driver from script but once it writes the xorg.conf file I'm unable to boot desktop. • Is there a way to run CUDA applications with the CUDA device being a secondary adapter?

  I've been trying to run a CUDA program on a remote computer which has Windows 7 installed. The GPU is GeForce GTX 480. One of the problems I've been facing is that, the computer has two adapters, 1) Standard VGA Adapter 2) NVIDIA GeForce GTX 480 Even though this shows in the device manager. The desktop uses the standard VGA Adapter. I'm assuming this is because the Standard VGA is the primary adapter. Also the device manager shows that the monitor is connected to the standard VGA Adapter. In this scenario if i try to run any CUDA application it fails to recognise a CUDA capable device. Is it necessary for the NVIDIA adapter to be the primary one? Or is there any way to use CUDA when the graphics card is a secondary adapter. I've seen a few posts in the NVIDIA forums on this before, one suggests using another low cost NVIDIA card as the primary adapter, but that is currently not an option. I couldn't find any other solutions. Thanks I tried running the deviceQuery test from the NVIDIA GPU Computing Samples. The driver version was the same and the test passed, although it failed with an older driver.

• What is auto-mounting my media volume?

  Something is repeatedly mounting my "media" share, doing something with it, then quietly un-mounting it with no notifications at the user level. from the little I can gleaned from the console messages below, I thought I'd managed to stop it, if not understand it last night when I followed instructions for deleting all traces of the Google Update Daemon. I've not been using any Google apps whatsoever, so I was surprised to see that in Console. What's more surprising, and perhaps a little distressing, is that the same thing occurred this evening, when the Google Daemon is long gone. I don't have that log because I can't recall precisely what time it occurred. I'll do a search and provide it if you wish, though. In the meantime, any help with this would be extremely appreciated. I've asked over at Apple Discussions but I think it might be a little deeper than those manning the boards this weekend are comfortable with. It's certainly beyond my meager skills. • GUI interfaces to ATI card behave weirdly out of the box and after updates.

  My Lenovo W500 came with an ATI Mobility FireGL V5700 and both the Catalyst control center software and Vista display manager display four monitors. What's really annoying is the behaviour. My two active displays (laptop display + my external monitor) are always #s 3 and 4 respectively which doesn't make sense. This is out of the box. Additionally dragging & dropping is jumpy and displays #1 and 2 (always inactive because they don't exist to the software) are often preventing me from dragging #3 and 4 to the rightmost side. They also auto-snap to weird positions and certain sensible positions like position one directly over top of the other are not possible. The exact same annoyances are present when using the Windows Display manager too. In other words the interface is crap and I'm looking for a fix that's not wishing I had gone with nVidia instead. I've updated drivers, and Catalyst control centre. Have latest Windows and AMD/ATI updates. Any thoughts? • How to setup firewall to allow internet connection sharing via Wifi USB stick?

  I have a Windows8 computer linked to the internet via an ethernet cable ("Ethernet" network connection). I have attached to it a DLink Wifi USB stick, and I'm trying to share the main PC's internet connection with my Android phone via a local wifi network. I am using the following batch file to set up this network: netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=allow ssid=MyWifiName key=password keyUsage=persistent netsh wlan start hostednetwork After I run this script, I can see a new network connection appear in "Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network Connections" named "Local Area Connection *12", and I can see "MyWifiName" on the Android phone. The device name for this connection on the PC is "Microsoft Hosted Network Virtual Adapter". I also set up the "Ethernet" connection to share Internet with "Local Area Connection *12". However, the Android phone usually doesn't manage to obtain an IP from the wireless network, and when it does, there still seems to be no connectivity to the internet. When I turn off the Windows Firewall completely, or even just for "Local Area Connection *12", the Android connection is perfect. My questions are: How should I set up the Windows firewall to allow the phone to connect properly? Is there a specific rule I need to add to the Windows firewall advanced settings? [Note: the above method worked great in Windows 7, without any specific tinkering with the firewall]. Is it safe to turn off the firewall specifically for the "Local Area Connection *12" (the wifi connection) if the main Ethernet connection is still protected by the firewall? Thanks in advance.

• Upgrading to Java 7u65 breaks my Deployment Rule Set for Oracle applications

  My company uses an older version of an Oracle application that requires Java 6u45. Naturally we want to be secure, so we use a Deployment Rule Set to specify 6u45 for that internal application and let other applications use 7u60. Now that we're ready to upgrade the Java 7 half to 7u67, the Oracle application breaks with "Deployment Rule Set required version 1.6.0_45 not available." Of course it is available, it just can't find it for some reason. As a test, I specified that JavaTester.org should use 6u45 also and it works fine with no issues. But when I try to use the same configuration (7u67 and 6u45) against the Oracle application it fails every time. If I downgrade to 7u60, it works. 7u65 or higher, it breaks. The Oracle application hasn't changed so it must be something different in how 7u65+ is handling Deployment Rule Sets or pathing or something.
