    how can I use wild cars like '*' when getting a list of files inside a directory in Python? for example, I want something like: os.listdir('foo/*bar*/*.txt') which would return a list of all the files ending in .txt in directories that have bar in their name inside of the foo parent directory. how can I do this? thanks.

    This is an assignment that we use strings in Java to analyze a phone number. The error I am having is anything below tester=invalidCharacters(c); does not compile because every line past tester=invalidCharacters(c); is looking for a symbol or the class. In get invalidResults, all I am trying to do is evaluate a given string for non-alphabetical characters such as *,(,^,&,%,@,#,), and so on. What to answer: Why is it producing an error, what will work, and is there an easier method WITHOUT using regex.   • How do I get the PreviewDialog of Apache FOP to actually display my document?

    Search as I may I have not found a solution to my problem here and I'm hoping the combined minds of StackOverflow will push me in the right direction. My problem is as follows, I'm developing a print and print preview portion of a messaging system's user agent. I was given specific XSLT templates that after transforming XML will produce a Formatting Objects document. With Apache FOP I've been able to render the FO document into PDF which is all fine and good, but I would also like to display it in a print preview dialog. Apache FOP contains such a class called PreviewDialog which requires in its constructor a FOUserAgent, which I can generate, and an object implementing the Renderable Interface. The Renderable Interface has one implementing class in the FOP package which is called InputHandler which takes in its constructor a standard io File object. Now here is where the trouble begins. I'm currently storing the FO document as a temp file and pass this as a File object to an InputHandler instance which is then passed to the PreviewDialog. I see the dialog appear on my screen and along the bottom in a status bar it says that it is generating the document, and that is all it does. Here is the code I'm trying to use.     On the homework I am working on we are making a hash cracker. I am implementing it so as to have my cracker. java call worker.java. Worker.java implements Runnable. Worker is to take the start and end of a list of char, the hash it is to crack, and the max length of the password that made the hash. I know I want to do a loop in run() BUT I cannot think of how I would do it so it would go to the given max pasword length. I have posted the code I have so far. Any directions or areas I should look into.... I thought there was a way to do this with a certain way to write the loop but I don't know or can't find the correct syntax. Oh.. also.     Possible Duplicate: Desktop forgets theme? Hi, I've just installed Ubuntu 10.10 64-bit. It came up saying I could install 2 proprietary drivers, one for my WiFi adapter (which works perfectly) and one for my graphics card - a Sapphire AIT Radeon HD 5770 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card. The driver is called ATI/AMD proprietary FGLRX graphics driver. Before installing this driver I was unable to have Extra Visual Effects in Appearances. However after installing (and restarting) the menu bars are now in a basic light gray mode, rather than the sleek Ubuntu black. - Although Extra Visual Effects does now work. I've tried rebooting, and I've had a look around in ATI "Catalyst Control Center" but nothing has worked so far. Does anybody know what this windows mode is, how to change it back to normal and why it's doing it in the first place?     I have a Thinkpad T40 running Ubuntu 10.10. I want to connect to wireless networks with WPA encryption; they appear in the network list, but are grayed out. The card does support WPA, since it works in Windows. In 10.10 the wireless works just fine with unprotected and WEP networks, but cannot connect to any WPA networks. The card is a Cisco Aironet Wireless 802.11b. I've been reading a lot of forum posts trying to find a solution, but either encounter threads where no solution was found or answers longer apply (most date from 2007, since this isn't the newest of computers). That just makes syslog unusable, can I somehow get rid of them? I don't know and don't really care about the reason of those messages being there, partly because my motherboard doesn't have pcie slots on it and partly because everything I care about works perfectly. That might be a WiFi chip I disabled in bios but hey, I don't want wifi to be powered on, I'm not using it. So can I just suppress those messages?
