  • Android browse SQLite database on phone

    - by Chris
How can I browse the SQLite database that I am creating in my app on my Android myTouch phone? When I log in through adb shell, sqlite3 gives me a permission denied. Is there another way to check if my database and tables are actually being created, and if rows are being inserted? I am not able to use the emulator, since it doesn't play videos etc. very well that is the main feature of my app, so I can only test on phone. Thanks Chris

  • Profile memory-performance for part of an rails project

    - by Florian Pilz
I want to test the profile usage of an important library-class of my rails-project. It uses ActiveRecord so I need all rails dependencies to profile it. As far as I know, I need a patched ruby (rubygc) so script/profile and script/benchmark can track memory usage. I tried to follow this official guide to patch the source code of ruby 1.8.6 (p399) and 1.8.7 (p248), but both fail with the following message: patching file gc.c Hunk #2 succeeded at 50 with fuzz 2 (offset 2 lines). Hunk #3 succeeded at 87 with fuzz 2 (offset 6 lines). Hunk #4 succeeded at 153 with fuzz 1 (offset 45 lines). Hunk #5 succeeded at 409 with fuzz 2 (offset 274 lines). Hunk #6 FAILED at 462. Hunk #28 succeeded at 2628 (offset 102 lines). 8 out of 28 hunks FAILED -- saving rejects to file gc.c.rej patching file intern.h Hunk #1 succeeded at 268 (offset 15 lines). I also tried to use ruby-prof, but I always get the error "uninitialized constant RubyProf::Test". I don't know how to use the gem "memory" and neither "memprof" nor "bleak_house" could be installed successfully. If I get a patched ruby running, I should be fine. But any other possibility to profile the memory of library classes are welcome. Thanks for helping!

  • Is there a floating point value of x, for which x-x == 0 is false?

    - by Andrew Walker
In most cases, I understand that a floating point comparison test should be implemented using over a range of values (abs(x-y) < epsilon), but does self subtraction imply that the result will be zero? // can the assertion be triggered? float x = //?; assert( x-x == 0 ) My guess is that nan/inf might be special cases, but I'm more interested in what happens for simple values.

Hi guys, My application tester has a problem while importing .mobileprovision file into iTunes. Any idea? He is trying to test on iPhone, if that helps. Thanks, XL

  • Must web apps support back button?

    - by Patrick Peters
I did a system test on a new ASP.NET app. I encountered several exceptions when using the BACK button in my browser (IE 7). I stated in a review-record that the web-app must support the use of a BACK button (or at least handle it gracefully with for example session-time out warnings). The teamlead did not agree with me as he stated that a web-app should not support working with the back-button by default. Do you agree?

  • Making sure a web page is not cached, across all browsers.

    - by Edward Wilde
Our investigations have shown us that not all browsers respect the http cache directives in a uniform manner. For security reasons we do not want certain pages in our application to cached, ever, by the web browser. This must work for at least the following browsers: Internet Explorer versions 6-8 FireFox versions 1.5 - 3.0 Safari version 3 Opera 9 Our requirement came from a security test. After logging out from our website you could press the back button and view cached pages.

  • How to simulate an unhandled exception in Java

    - by Martin Wiboe
Hi, I am creating some multi-threaded code, and I have created a JobDispatcher class that creates threads. I want this object to handle any unhandled exceptions in the worker threads, and so I am using Thread.setUncaughtExceptionHandler(this); Now, I would like to test this functionality - how can I generate an unhandled exception in the run() method of my worker object? Thanks, Martin

  • How to check Linux version with Autoconf?

    - by Goofy
My program requires at least Linux 2.6.26 (I use timerfd and some other Linux-specific features). I have an general idea how to write this macro but I don't have enough knowledge about writing test macros for Autoconf. Algorithm: Run "uname --release" and store output Parse output and subtract Linux version number (MAJOR.MINOR.MICRO) Compare version I don't know how to run command, store output and parse it. Maybe such macro already exists and it's available (I haven't found any)?

  • How do you get Lighttpd to compress CodeIgniter's "clean urls"?

    - by ocdcoder
I was looking at PageSpeed on my test website and noticed that Lighttpd wasn't compressing my HTML (but was compressing my javascript and css files). I'm assuming this is because I'm using CodeIgniter and it's clean url system and since the requests don't have file extensions, Lighttpd doesn't have the rule to compress it. That being the case, how do I get Lighttpd to compress my HTML? Is this something I shouldn't be doing? Or something I need to specially configure Lighttpd for?

  • How do you implement position-sensitive zooming inside a JScrollPane?

    - by tucuxi
    I am trying to implement position-sensitive zooming inside a JScrollPane. The JScrollPane contains a component with a customized 'paint' that will draw itself inside whatever space it is allocated - so zooming is as easy as using a MouseWheelListener that resizes the inner component as required. But I also want zooming into (or out of) a point to keep that point as central as possible within the resulting zoomed-in (or -out) view (this is what I refer to as 'position-sensitive' zooming), similar to how zooming works in google maps. I am sure this has been done many times before - does anybody know the "right" way to do it under Java Swing?. Would it be better to play with Graphic2D's transformations instead of using JScrollPanes? Sample code follows: package test; import java.awt.*; import java.awt.event.*; import java.awt.geom.*; import javax.swing.*; public class FPanel extends javax.swing.JPanel { private Dimension preferredSize = new Dimension(400, 400); private Rectangle2D[] rects = new Rectangle2D[50]; public static void main(String[] args) { JFrame jf = new JFrame("test"); jf.setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE); jf.setSize(400, 400); jf.add(new JScrollPane(new FPanel())); jf.setVisible(true); } public FPanel() { // generate rectangles with pseudo-random coords for (int i=0; i<rects.length; i++) { rects[i] = new Rectangle2D.Double( Math.random()*.8, Math.random()*.8, Math.random()*.2, Math.random()*.2); } // mouse listener to detect scrollwheel events addMouseWheelListener(new MouseWheelListener() { public void mouseWheelMoved(MouseWheelEvent e) { updatePreferredSize(e.getWheelRotation(), e.getPoint()); } }); } private void updatePreferredSize(int n, Point p) { double d = (double) n * 1.08; d = (n > 0) ? 1 / d : -d; int w = (int) (getWidth() * d); int h = (int) (getHeight() * d); preferredSize.setSize(w, h); getParent().doLayout(); // Question: how do I keep 'p' centered in the resulting view? } public Dimension getPreferredSize() { return preferredSize; } private Rectangle2D r = new Rectangle2D.Float(); public void paint(Graphics g) { super.paint(g); g.setColor(Color.red); int w = getWidth(); int h = getHeight(); for (Rectangle2D rect : rects) { r.setRect(rect.getX() * w, rect.getY() * h, rect.getWidth() * w, rect.getHeight() * h); ((Graphics2D)g).draw(r); } } }
