  I bought a Dell Inspiron 5520 15R last week and I am a newbie in Ubuntu platform. I installed Windows 7 as well as Ubuntu 12.04 64-bit. But my wireless device is not detected in Ubuntu while it is working fine in Windows OS. My wireless device is Dell Wireless 1704 802.11B 2.4GHZ. Is this a compatibility problem with Ubuntu. What would be the solution? Do I need to install another version of Ubuntu?

  I made a succesful installation of Ubuntu 12.04 64-bit on my Sony Vaio PCG-71811M. I have a Geforce 410M with CUDA,it seems works fine and i have already installed packages nvidia-current and nvidia-settings at version 302.17 (I think it's the latest in this moment), but my maximum screen resolution is 1366x768(and in the native display settings it's the same thing). How can I switch it to an highest resolution, like 1920x1080?

  For example, I know that open-source versions of IL readers/writers exist such as Cecil, and Microsoft's (closed source) CCI. What would it take to get developers to pay for something that is already freely available? I have always wanted to start my own ISV by writing my own tools and selling them in the open market, but it's hard to gauge the demand, given that free alternatives already exist.   On 12.04 64-bit, about every 5 seconds my screen blinks twice. Even during installation of Ubuntu from CD, this happens during the complete process. I had no problems with earlier Ubuntu versions (earlier version was 10.04LTS 64-bit) System specs: I7-2600K MSI 7681 Motherboard 16 GB RAM 2 x Nvidia 560 card SLI (only 1 screen on 1 card active during install process) This flickering is driving me crazy, please help.

  We have a client who has instructed Reach Local to manage their paid SEO work etc. RL have created a proxy version of the page at http://example-px.rtrk.co.uk which mirrors the existing site completely. Would I be correct in assuming that this would count as duplicate content and one or both of the sites would be penalized because of this? I am using the eclispe and have used the mercurial plugin for eclipse. So far its commiting the changes but i am not getting anything , where i can see the two files for merging. Any ideas

  The beta for BIDS Helper 1.6 was just released. We have not updated the version notification just yet as we would like to get some feedback on people's experiences with the SQL 2012 version. So if you are using SQL 2012, go grab it and let us know how you go (you can post a comment on this blog post or on the BIDS Helper site itself). This is the first release that supports SQL 2012 and consequently also the first release that runs in Visual Studio 2010. A big thanks to Greg Galloway for doing the bulk of the work on this release. Please note that if you are doing an xcopy deploy that you will need to unblock the files you download or you will get a cryptic error message. This appears to be caused by a security update to either Visual Studio or the .Net framework – the xcopy deploy instructions have been updated to show you how to do this. • Clicking links in pdfs opened with Okular opens Abiword (instead of the default browser)

  I work with Xubuntu 12.04 and use Okular (version 0.14.3) to view pdf files. If I click a link in a pdf file (created with pdflatex using the hyperref package), Abiword is opened instead of my default browser google-chrome. How can I change this behavior? The settings in Okular do not seem to provide a solution. (Note that I set google-chrome as the preferred application for web browsing under Settings - Preferred Applications, so that's not the problem).
