  • How to handle model state errors in ajax-invoked controller action that returns a PartialView

    I have a POST controller action that returns a partial view. Everything seems really easy. but. I load it using $.ajax(), setting type as html. But when my model validation fails I thought I should just throw an error with model state errors. But my reply always returns 500 Server error. How can I report back model state errors without returning Json with whatever result. I would still like to return partial view that I can directly append to some HTML element. Edit I would also like to avoid returning error partial view. This would look like a success on the client. Having the client parse the result to see whether it's an actual success is prone to errors. Designers may change the partial view output and this alone would break the functionality. So I want to throw an exception, but with the correct error message returned to the ajax client.

    I tried to add multiple series in highcharts synchronously, but the response time is very slow. It took almost 3-5 seconds to display the charts. Here is part of the code. while(chart.series.length>0){ chart.series[0].remove(true); } chart.addSeries(series1); chart.addSeries(series2); chart.addSeries(series3); chart.addSeries(series4); chart.addSeries(series5); When I remain only one addSeries command, it response immediately, so I realized it may be the problem of add multiple series in highcharts synchronously. Not so good at highcharts, so is there anyone could help me about this? Or maybe there is another way to do this, I am much appreciated.

  • I would like to know how to put a "change image" layer like in facebook on a mouseover event

    Hello: I have a photo gallery I would like that every time a user does mouseover the image, there is a button on the top of this image that appears. The user can click on it. But every time that the user mouse out of the photo it must disappear. It works like the "change photo" in Facebook, with the photo of your profile. The problem I am having is that when I try to get over the button that appears (in my code is a link), it disappear because javascript understands that the mouse is just out of the image, even if this button/link is over the image. The image that I use is positioned absolutely over the image.     I have two links with classes (login-form and register-form) relevant to their target forms ID, they want to toggle. I have also a predefined 'slideToggle' function to toggle better. This is what I have tried so far: $('#userbar a').click(function() { var c = $(this).attr('class'); $('#userbar a').removeClass('active'); $(this).toggleClass('active'); $('#register-form,#login-form').hide(); //bad, causing flashy $('#' + c).slideToggle('slow'); return false; }); With this I have trouble with the flashy window, and to correctly toggle the active classes when another link is clicked, the other link should not have active class anymore. Additional problem is the link is dead on serial clicks.   • Finding matches between multiple JavaScript Arrays

    I have multiple arrays with string values and I want to compare them and only keep the matching results that are identical between ALL of them. Given this example code: var arr1 = ['apple', 'orange', 'banana', 'pear', 'fish', 'pancake', 'taco', 'pizza']; var arr2 = ['taco', 'fish', 'apple', 'pizza']; var arr3 = ['banana', 'pizza', 'fish', 'apple']; I would like to to produce the following array that contains matches from all given arrays: ['apple', 'fish', 'pizza'] I know I can combine all the arrays with var newArr = arr1.concat(arr2, arr3); but that just give me an array with everything, plus the duplicates. Can this be done easily without needing the overhead of libraries such as underscore.js? (Great, and now i'm hungry too!) EDIT I suppose I should mention that there could be an unknown amount of arrays, I was just using 3 as an example.

    I have a page which has several <canvas> elements. I am passing the canvas ID and an array of data to a function which then grabs the canvas info and passes the data onto a draw() function which in turn processes the given data and draws the results onto the canvas. So far, so good. Example data arrays; $(function() { setup($("#canvas-1"), [[110,110,100], [180,180,50], [220,280,80]]); setup($("#canvas-2"), [[110,110,100], [180,180,50], [220,280,80]]); }); setup function; function setup(canvas, data) { ctx = canvas[0].getContext('2d'); var i = data.length; var dimensions = { w : canvas.innerWidth(), h : canvas.innerHeight() }; draw(dimensions, data, i); } This works perfectly. draw() runs and each canvas is populated. However - I need to animate the canvas. As soon as I replace line 8 of the above example; draw(dimensions, data, i); with setInterval( function() { draw(dimensions, data, i); }, 33 ); It stops working and only draws the last canvas (with the others remaining blank). I'm new to both javascript and canvas so sorry if this is an obvious one, still feeling my way around. Guidance in the right direction much appreciated! Thanks.

  • Injecting a response value into a textarea to subsequently post

    I have multiple notes with class=.note and unique id each inside a div. On click of edit I grab the id, show hidden form #noteditor and hide all notes. I am using the load function to get the response (using codeigniter so url does work) and input result in the editorfrorm Textarea id = upnote... Firebug response looks ok and I have tried to inject into a div and this works fine, BUT getting this injto the text area is causing me some headaches. There is also the chance that i am going around this a convoluted way due to my limited knowledge...   • jqtouch load content with ajax

    I am loading this page directly inside of jqtouch. First the page shows "Loading..." Then it should execute a GET Request and refresh the content of the div ("tagcloud") as soon as it get's the content from another php file. Basically, I don't want to text to wrap in the dropdown, but at the same time, I don't want to button for the dropdown to go wider.

I want to display another Indicator in my SiteMapPath bar which shows a post back is happening no matter what. For example when user clicks on a button an UpdateProgress display an Indicator Image in central part of application. I want to display another image ( for every postbacks not only for one) in top of application toolbar.
