  • FastMM and Dynamically loaded DLLs

    - by Vegar
I have a host application, that loads a dozen of libraries at start up. I want to switch from Delphi 7s default memory manager to the full version of FastMM4 for better mem leak reporting. Should I include FastMM4 in the uses section of both the host application and the libraries? What about shared runtime packages? -Vegar

  • .net Email Template engine...

    - by alex
I'm looking to create emails, mainly HTML, based on templates - I'd really like to do something like: Set up my template, as an HTML (or similar) file Include tags, that are then replaced with specific data (kind of like mail-merge....) I've seen this: http://www.bitethebullet.co.uk/EmailTemplateFramework/tabid/58/Default.aspx From searching on stack overflow, i understand nVelocity might be another option? But i can't find any examples to do what i want to do... Any other suggestions?

  • VS Intellisense: can you hide extension methods?

    - by chris
By default Visual Studio displays all members and its extension methods for a type in intellisense. Sometimes I would like to hide the extension methods to make it easier to find the member I am actually looking for (especially when using Linq). Is there a shortcut or another way to display only the members of a type in intellisense?

  • GTK:Button onHover effect different on Linux and Windows

    - by nubela
Hi, I have a GTK button on my GUI app, however, the hover effects are different for both Linux and Windows: Heres Linux: (http://imgur.com/DKAy6)[http://imgur.com/DKAy6] Heres Windows: (http://imgur.com/v0FFU)[http://imgur.com/v0FFU] I did not do anything fancy to the animations, in fact, the animation is default, how can I make it uniform? Thank you.

  • jQuery: Setting 'style' attribute of element with object

    - by JamesBrownIsDead
I saw this in our codebase the other day: link.attr('style', map({ color: '#9a4d9e', cursor: 'default' })); map is defined as: function map(map) { var cssValue = []; for (var o in map) { cssValue.push(o + ':' + map[o] + ';') } return cssValue.join(';'); } Is map necessarily? Is there a shorter way to do this? It's important to note that the "style" attribute overrides any styles set by a class added/defined in the "class" attribute.

  • jQuery: List expands on page load

    - by Hasanah
    I've been looking for something very simple: How to make a side navigation expand with animation on page load, but all the tutorial websites I usually go to don't seem to have it. The closest I could find is this jQuery sample: http://codeblitz.wordpress.com/2009/04/15/jquery-animated-collapsible-list/ I've managed to strip down the list like so: <script type="text/javascript" src="jquery-1.3.2.min.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> $(function(){ $('li') .css('pointer','default') .css('list-style','none'); $('li:has(ul)') .click(function(event){ if (this == event.target) { $(this).css('list-style', (!$(this).children().is(':hidden')) ? 'none' : 'none'); $(this).children().toggle('slow'); } return false; }) .css({cursor:'pointer', 'list-style':'none'}) .children().hide(); $('li:not(:has(ul))').css({cursor:'default', 'list-style':'none'}); }); <body> <fieldset> <legend>Collapsable List Demo</legend> <ul> <li>A - F</li> <li>G - M <ul> <li>George Kent Technology Centre</li> <li>Hampshire Park</li> <li>George Kent Technology Centre</li> <li>Hampshire Park</li> </ul> </li> <li> N - R </li> <li>S - Z</li> </ul> </fieldset> My question is: Is there any way to make this list expand on page load instead of on click? I also don't need it to collapse at all; basically I need only the animating expansion. Thank you for your time and advice. :)

  • Question about design (inheritance, polymorphism)

    - by Dan
Hi, I have a question about a problem I'm struggling with. Hope you can bear with me. Imagine I have an Object class representing the base class of a hierarchy of physical objects. Later I inherit from it to create an Object1D, Object2D and Object3D classes. Each of these derived classes will have some specific methods and attributes. For example, the 3d object might have functionality to download a 3d model to be used by a renderer. So I'd have something like this: class Object {}; class Object1D : public Object { Point mPos; }; class Object2D : public Object { ... }; class Object3D : public Object { Model mModel; }; Now I'd have a separate class called Renderer, which simply takes an Object as argument and well, renders it :-) In a similar way, I'd like to support different kinds of renderers. For instance, I could have a default one that every object could rely on, and then provide other specific renderers for some kind of objects: class Renderer {}; // Default one class Renderer3D : public Renderer {}; And here comes my problem. A renderer class needs to get an Object as an argument, for example in the constructor in order to retrieve whatever data it needs to render the object. So far so good. But a Renderer3D would need to get an Object3D argument, in order to get not only the basic attributes but also the specific attributes of a 3d object. Constructors would look like this: CRenderer(Object& object); CRenderer3D(Object3D& object); Now how do I specify this in a generic way? Or better yet, is there a better way to design this? I know I could rely on RTTI or similar but I'd like to avoid this if possible as I feel there is probably a better way to deal with this. Thanks in advance!

  • Is ZendX still active (Specifically ZendX_JQuery) ?

    - by Doron
I need to have an autocomplete functionality using jquery, and I've encountered ZendX_JQuery which has such functionality available. However, I've noticed that the entire ZendX_JQuery classes, are a bit old (the default jquery version is 1.3.2, and jquery ui 1.7.1). (see http://framework.zend.com/svn/framework/extras/branches/release-1.10/library/ZendX/JQuery.php) Should I use that instead of my own written code to include the jquery library and etc., and should I use the ZendX_JQuery_View_Helper_AutoComplete class for such functionality ?

  • Linq-to-Entities Left JOIN

    - by shivesh
This is my query: from forum in Forums join post in Posts on forum equals post.Forum into postGroup from p in postGroup where p.ParentPostID==0 select new { forum.Title, forum.ForumID, LastPostTitle = p.Title, LastPostAddedDate = p.AddedDate }).OrderBy(o=>o.ForumID) Currently the Join is not left join, meaning if some forum doesn't have a post that belongs to it, it will not be returned. The forum without posts must be returned with null (or default) values for the post properties.

  • Backbone.js Adding Model to Collection Issue

    - by jtmgdevelopment
I am building a test application in Backbone.js (my first app using Backbone). The app goes like this: Load Data from server "Plans" Build list of plans and show to screen There is a button to add a new plan Once new plan is added, add to collection ( do not save to server as of now ) redirect to index page and show the new collection ( includes the plan you just added) My issue is with item 5. When I save a plan, I add the model to the collection then redirect to the initial view. At this point, I fetch data from the server. When I fetch data from the server, this overwrites my collection and my added model is gone. How can I prevent this from happening? I have found a way to do this but it is definitely not the correct way at all. Below you will find my code examples for this. Thanks for the help. PlansListView View: var PlansListView = Backbone.View.extend({ tagName : 'ul', initialize : function() { _.bindAll( this, 'render', 'close' ); //reset the view if the collection is reset this.collection.bind( 'reset', this.render , this ); }, render : function() { _.each( this.collection.models, function( plan ){ $( this.el ).append( new PlansListItemView({ model: plan }).render().el ); }, this ); return this; }, close : function() { $( this.el ).unbind(); $( this.el ).remove(); } });//end NewPlanView Save Method var NewPlanView = Backbone.View.extend({ tagName : 'section', template : _.template( $( '#plan-form-template' ).html() ), events : { 'click button.save' : 'savePlan', 'click button.cancel' : 'cancel' }, intialize: function() { _.bindAll( this, 'render', 'save', 'cancel' ); }, render : function() { $( '#container' ).append( $( this.el ).html(this.template( this.model.toJSON() )) ); return this; }, savePlan : function( event ) { this.model.set({ name : 'bad plan', date : 'friday', desc : 'blah', id : Math.floor(Math.random()*11), total_stops : '2' }); this.collection.add( this.model ); app.navigate('', true ); event.preventDefault(); }, cancel : function(){} }); Router (default method): index : function() { this.container.empty(); var self = this; //This is a hack to get this to work //on default page load fetch all plans from the server //if the page has loaded ( this.plans is defined) set the updated plans collection to the view //There has to be a better way!! • how to: handle exceptions, best practices

    - by b0x0rz
need to implement a global error handling, so maybe you can help out with the following example... i have this code: public bool IsUserAuthorizedToSignIn(string userEMailAddress, string userPassword) { // get MD5 hash for use in the LINQ query string passwordSaltedHash = this.PasswordSaltedHash(userEMailAddress, userPassword); // check for email / password / validity using (UserManagementDataContext context = new UserManagementDataContext()) { var users = from u in context.Users where u.UserEMailAdresses.Any(e => e.EMailAddress == userEMailAddress) && u.UserPasswords.Any(p => p.PasswordSaltedHash == passwordSaltedHash) && u.IsActive == true select u; // true if user found return (users.Count() == 1) ? true : false; } } and the md5 as well: private string PasswordSaltedHash(string userEMailAddress, string userPassword) { MD5 hasher = MD5.Create(); byte[] data = hasher.ComputeHash(Encoding.Default.GetBytes(userPassword + userEMailAddress)); StringBuilder stringBuilder = new StringBuilder(); for (int i = 0; i < data.Length; i++) { stringBuilder.Append(data[i].ToString("x2")); } Trace.WriteLine(String.Empty); Trace.WriteLine("hash: " + stringBuilder.ToString()); return stringBuilder.ToString(); } so, how would i go about handling exceptions from these functions? they first one is called from the Default.aspx page. the second one is only called from other functions from the class library. what is the best practice? surround code INSIDE each function with try-catch surround the FUNCTION CALL with try-catch something else?? what to do if exceptions happen? in this example: this is a user sign in, so somehow even if everything fails, the user should get some meaningful info - along the lines: sign in ok (just redirect), sign in not ok (wrong user name / password), sign in not possible due to internal problems, sorry (exception happened). for the first function i am worried if there is a problem with database access. not sure if there is anything that needs to be handled in the second one. thnx for the info. how would you do it? need specific info on this (easier for me to understand), but also general info on how to handle other tasks/functions. i looked around the internet but everyone has different things to say, so unsure what to do... will go with either most votes here, or most logicaly explained answer :) thank you.

  • grails set bean value from radio button

    - by Jeff Storey
I'm somewhat new to grails (not groovy though) and I'm working on a sample CRUD application. The issue I'm trying to solve is how to set a property on a bean based on a radio button before I update it in the database. Is the Form Helper http://www.grails.org/plugin/form-helper plugin the way to go? Will the bean have its value set regardless of if the button is actually clicked by the user or if it is left at its default value? thanks, Jeff

  • How do you code up a pattern matching code block in scala?

    - by egervari
How do you code a function that takes in a block of code as a parameter that contains case statements? For instance, in my block of code, I don't want to do a match or a default case explicitly. I am looking something like this myApi { case Whatever() => // code for case 1 case SomethingElse() => // code for case 2 } And inside of my myApi(), it'll actually execute the code block and do the matches. Help?
