Hi,
I have .net 3.5 SP1 and VS 2008 SP1 installed in my machine. But what should I further install to create an Entity framework project. Is there any other add ons that is needed?
I'm well aware that similair topics have been brought up before
e.g. http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1639043/entity-framework-4-vs-nhibernate
But instead of arguments like:
NHibernate have been around longer and is more mature
EF4 is drag n drop and not enterprisy
EF4 and LinqToSql are ...
I would like to see a more detailed list of features that you consider missing from EF4.
Personally, I think the lack of enum support is the biggest drawback of EF4.
I am looking for some good asp.net sample applications which use Entity Framework. I saw a couple apps for NorthWind (one was MVC based). Looking for one with is more sophisticated than the simple apps at MSDN (HRSkillsCombined, CourseManager,AdWksSalesWinDataBind, ResearchCollaborationAssistant). Possibly using Entity Inheritance, multi table change tracking.. etc.
Need to develop a disconnected application for Windows Mobile 6.x to accompany an existing MVC Web Application.
Wondering if anyone knows of a web server for the compact framework that will run MVC Web Apps?
Padarn looks good but seems to be CF 2.0 only
Is there an efficient way to take and image and be able to replace a given color with another given color using .NET Compact Framework?
For example, to replace white with black or vice versa?
I am just starting out with ADO.net Entity Framework I have mapped two tables together and receive the following error:
Error 1 Error 11010: Association End 'OperatorAccess' is not mapped. E:\Visual Studio\projects\Brandi II\Brandi II\Hospitals.edmx 390 11 Brandi II

These web articles uses separate Save() and Update() methods in the repository pattern.
I am using repository pattern.
How can I write a SaveOrUpdate() method in Entity Framework with the help of ObjectContext and in Linq-To-SQL with the help of DataContext?
That is, how can I write a single method that shall do both save and update job?
Hi .. I intend to extend the constructors of some of the entities in my Entity Framework (4).
However how do I ensure that my constructor is run after the model has run its.
i.e. I want to ensure that the the object holds the data from the database before I work on it in my constructor.
I have
[Person]
PersonID, EmailAddress, FirstName, LastName
[OnlineAccount]
OnlineAccountID, PersonID, Nickname
Each person is allowed to have 0-* OnlineAccount.
In entity framework with C#, how do I select the top 5 Person that has the most accounts?
I have php based application currently written using CI. I want to integrate Cappuccino JS framework at my UI layer. Does anyone know how can one go about doing that?
Sql server 2005 (even 2008) strips the insignificant whitespaces by default. To keep one can use the CONVERT funtction with the last argument as '1' (Ref. Article). How can we do the same thing in Entity Framework?
thanks
I just started on the .net compact framework. I want to draw a Sudoku field on the screen. So I put down a PictureBox and defined a method for the Paint event:
private void pictureBoxPlayfield_Paint(object sender, PaintEventArgs e)
{
// use e.Graphics to draw the grid, numbers and cursor
}
This works, but you can see as the grid is drawn. So my question is, what is the right/better way to create such a custom control? Is there maybe a way to enable double buffering?

This question (http://stackoverflow.com/questions/245566/net-compact-framework-4-0) asked this back before the release of VS 2010. The answer basically said to wait for the release.
Now that the release is here, does anyone know? Is there an upgrade/update to the .NETCF? something past .NETCF 3.5?
Is there an equivalence in Entity Framework to NHibernate SchemaExport?
Given I have a working Entity-Model, I would like to programmatically initialize a database.
I would like to use this functionality in the setup of my integration tests.
Creating the matching DDL for an Entity-Model would also suffice.
I would like to be able to display the version of the .NET framework a windows form or wpf project is targeted at and display it in the title bar of the app.
Is there a way I can do this?
Thanks
I'm using Entity Framework for creation of my Data Access Layer and I want for all of my classes to be internal.
I know it is possible to manually assign it manually in the designer for each class. But looks like it also requires to set internal modifier for each single property in every class! I have about 30+ entities and it will be a huge work to do.
Do you know any ideas how to set a 'default access' for the entire model?
I have many entities (Customers, prospects,...)
I have one entity called Notes, which can handle notes for Customers,prospects...
The Notes table is then:
Id
Parent_Id
Parent_Type
Note
How to handle this with Entity Framework ?
Thanks

I have a form in a Compact Framework application. When the user presses the 'X' button in the top right, the screen doesn't refresh until the users taps anywhere on the screen.
The form is being shown using this code:
using (var customerDetailsForm = ObjectFactory.Get<CustomerDetailsForm>())
{
customerDetailsForm.AssignCustomerId(customerId);
customerDetailsForm.ShowDialog();
}

Right now I am using an extension to linq to provide me with the functionality of Contains. I call the WhereIn like this:
Answers = Answers.WhereIn(x => x.category.catid, catSTRarray);
Is there a built in function within entity framework to use?
I am working on a project and I am using Entity Framework 4 as my ORM. I am implementing POCO classes. Every example I see with EF 4 and POCOs implements all properties with public setters. Is that the only way I can use POCO classes with EF 4? Do all my setters need to be public?
I need to convert Keys.Enter to a char.
This does not work in compact framework: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2518749/convert-sequence-of-system-windows-forms-keys-to-a-char (KeyInterop.VirtualKeyFromKey)
Any one have any other ideas?
