  • How can I run a local Windows Application and have the output be piped into the Browser.

    I have Windows Application (.EXE file is written in C and built with MS-Visual Studio), that outputs ASCII text to stdout. I’m looking to enhance the ASCII text to include limited HTML with a few links. I’d like to invoke this application (.EXE File) and take the output of that application and pipe it into a Browser. This is not a one time thing, each new web page would be another run of the Local Application! The HTML/java-script application below has worked for me to execute the application, but the output has gone into a DOS Box windows and not to pipe it into the Browser.   • WPF Sizing of Panels

    I'm looking for an article or overview of WPF Panel types, that explains the sizing characters of each. For example, here are the panel types: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms754152.aspx#Panels_derived_elements I've learned (by experiment) that UniformGrid can be given a fixed height, or it can be "auto" where it expands to fit available space. That is great, but what I wanted was for Uniform Grid to shrink to fit its internal content (particularly content that is provided dynamically, at run-time). I don't think it has that ability. So I'd like to know either what other Panel I could use for that purpose, or what Panel I should nest the UniformGrid inside of. But I don't just want an answer to that specific question. I want the sizing dynamics and capabilities of all the Panel types, in summary form, so I can make all these choices as needed. Online I find articles that cover only half the Panel types, and don't give as much information about sizing as I'm describing. Anyone know the link (or book) that has the info I'm seeking? p.s. Since I want the UniformGrid to shrink to the dynamic content I'm providing, I could just keep track of the total height of controls placed within, and then set the height of the UniformGrid. But it would be nice if WPF took care of this for me.

  • jQuery .load() and sub-pages

    Hi, I am not just a newbie with Javascript. I am developing a simple site to get my hands on web programming. The web site is simple and structure is like this: A simple ul/li/css based navigation menu Sub pages are loaded in "div" using jQuery, when ever user click appropriate menu item. Some of the sub-pages are using different jQuery based plugins such as LightWindow, jTip etc. The jQuery function that loads the sub-page is like this: function loadContent(htmlfile){ jQuery("#content").load(htmlfile); }; The menu items fires loadContent method like this: <li><a href="javascript:void(0)" onclick="loadContent('overview.html');return false">overview</a></li> This loads a sub-page name "overview.html" inside the "div". That's it. Now this is working fine but some of the sub-pages using jQuery based plugins are not working well when loaded inside the "div". If you load them individually in the browser they are working fine. Based on above I have few qustions: Most of the plugins are based on jQuery and sub-pages are loaded inside the "index.html" using "loadContent" function. Do I have to call <script type="text/javascript" src="js/jquery-1.4.2.min.js"></script> on each and every sub-page? If a page is using a custom jQuery plugin, then where do I call it? In "index.html" or on the page where I am using it? I think what ever script you will call in "index.html", you don't to have call them again in any of the sub pages you are using. Am I right here?     I have a text file that lists the names of a large number of Excel spreadsheets, and the names of the files that are linked to from the spreadsheets. In simplified form it looks like this: "Parent File1.xls" Link: ChildFileA.xls Link: ChildFileB.xls "ParentFile2.xls" "ParentFile3.xls" Blah Link: ChildFileC.xls Link: ChildFileD.xls More Junk Link: ChildFileE.xls "Parent File4.xls" Link: ChildFileF.xls In this example, ParentFile1.xls has embedded links to ChildFileA.xls and ChildFileB.xls, ParentFile2.xls has no embedded links, and ParentFile3.xls has 3 embedded links. I am trying to write a regular expression in PowerShell that will parse the text file producing output in the following form: ParentFile1.xls:ChildFileA.xls,ChildFileB.xls ParentFile3.xls:ChildFileC.xls,ChildFileD.xls,ChildFileE.xls etc The task is complicated by the fact that the text file contains a lot of junk between each of the lines, and a parent may not always have a child. Furthermore, a single file name may pass over multiple lines. However, it's not as bad as it sounds, as the parent and child file names are always clearly demarcated (the parent with quotes and the child with a prefix of Link: ). The PowerShell code I've been using is as follows: $content = [string]::Join([environment]::NewLine, (Get-Content C:\Temp\text.txt)) $regex = [regex]'(?im)\s*\"(.*)\r?\n?\s*(.*)\"[\s\S]*?Link: (.*)\r?\n?' $regex.Matches($content) | %{$_.Groups[1].Value + $_.Groups[2].Value + ":" + $_.Groups[3].Value} Using the example above, it outputs: ParentFile1.xls:ChildFileA.xls ParentFile2.xls""ParentFile3.xls:ChildFileC.xls ParentFile4.xls:ChildFileF.xls There are two issues. Firstly, the inclusion of the "" instead of a newline whenever a Parent without a Child is processed. And the second issue, which is the most important, is that only a single child is ever shown for each parent. I'm guessing I need to somehow recursively capture and display the multiple child links that exist for each parent, but I'm totally stumped as to how to do this with a regular expression. Amy help would be greatly appreciated. The file contains 100's of thousands of lines, and manual processing is not an option :)

    I am using the following PHP code to generate the XML for an RSS feed, but it doesn't seem to be working correctly. No short description is displayed in the feed reader, all I see is the title of the article. Also, all of the articles say they were published at the same time.   • Loading one page inside another

    User 'Citizen' provided an answer to the iframe situation with the ajax script from dynamic drive. As I predicted it although it loads one page inside another it does not work with the calculation scripts, collapsible panels, validation form. All of it simply not working. I have set up a test page that has the exact same HEAD section as the page that is loaded inside it, so it is not s problem of script location. Take a look and see if you can tell me what is going on. Baring in mind this is just a test page. On the test page the entire page is loaded from another and as you can see all the collapsible panels are open, all calculations except the duration are not working because another file that is loaded by ajax on the original page is not loading in this one, the accordion menu us not working and the validation form is not validating. It is as if all script triggers have been removed and left behind but like I said the HEAD section of the parent page contains all of the scripts as well.   • Fast JSON serialization (and comparison with Pickle) for cluster computing in Python?

    I have a set of data points, each described by a dictionary. The processing of each data point is independent and I submit each one as a separate job to a cluster. Each data point has a unique name, and my cluster submission wrapper simply calls a script that takes a data point's name and a file describing all the data points. That script then accesses the data point from the file and performs the computation. Since each job has to load the set of all points only to retrieve the point to be run, I wanted to optimize this step by serializing the file describing the set of points into an easily retrievable format. I tried using JSONpickle, using the following method, to serialize a dictionary describing all the data points to file: def json_serialize(obj, filename, use_jsonpickle=True): f = open(filename, 'w') if use_jsonpickle: import jsonpickle json_obj = jsonpickle.encode(obj) f.write(json_obj) else: simplejson.dump(obj, f, indent=1) f.close() The dictionary contains very simple objects (lists, strings, floats, etc.) and has a total of 54,000 keys. The json file is ~20 Megabytes in size. It takes ~20 seconds to load this file into memory, which seems very slow to me. I switched to using pickle with the same exact object, and found that it generates a file that's about 7.8 megabytes in size, and can be loaded in ~1-2 seconds. This is a significant improvement, but it still seems like loading of a small object (less than 100,000 entries) should be faster. Aside from that, pickle is not human readable, which was the big advantage of JSON for me. Is there a way to use JSON to get similar or better speed ups? If not, do you have other ideas on structuring this? (Is the right solution to simply "slice" the file describing each event into a separate file and pass that on to the script that runs a data point in a cluster job? It seems like that could lead to a proliferation of files). thanks.

First stored procedure checks wether the email address already exists in database.Second one inserts the user supplied data into mysql database. User has EXECUTE permission on both the procedures.When is execute them individually from php script they work fine.     I use an <Authorize> attribute in ASP.NET MVC to secure a controller. My page loads portions of its content via AJAX. Here's a problem I have with IE8, but not Firefox 3.6: Sign in as user JohnDoe and navigate to http://www.example.com/AjaxPage. Everything works fine. AjaxPage is protected with the <Authorize> attribute. Sign out, which redirects me to http://www.example.com. That page doesn't use <Authorize>. Navigate to http://www.example.com/AjaxPage without signing in again. I should be redirected to the Sign In page since that controller has the <Authorize> attribute. Step 3 works with Firefox, but IE8 displays the non-Ajax portion of http://www.example.com/AjaxPage and then never loads the Ajax content. I'm surprised any content is displayed at all since I should be redirected to the Sign In page. My code redirects to the login page with: Return Redirect("https://login.live.com/wlogin.srf?appid=MY-APP-ID&alg=wsignin1.0") Why does Firefox handle this redirection, but IE doesn't? Since it works the first time (Step 1 above), is there a cache issue? EDIT: I used Fiddler to see if AjaxPage was being cached, but it appears not to be. I assume if it were cached, I'd get an HTTP Status Code 200 back. I may simply misunderstand this though.

  • Auto-resize custom horizontal scrollbar/slider?

    I'm working on a site that scrolls horizontally. I know very little about jQuery and prototype and I got this slider script working as the page scrollbar. When the window is resized smaller, the custom horizontal slider/scrollbar won't resize to the viewport's width. I have the page and js files here http://keanetix.co.cc/scrollpage/ Try to resize the browser and you'll notice the custom scrollbar extending to the right. The custom scrollbar wont fit on the viewport, unless you refresh the page when it's been resized. Can somebody help me with this? Thanks.   • Perl, share package variable without Export

    I'm creating a group of Perl scripts, and I would like to have one package store a group of constants. I don't want to export them using Exporter because there will be quite a few and I don't want to pollute the namespace. Since there will be so many, I don't want to require the user to be forced to manually specify which they will be using. I think the best way to just use the packagename::var syntax, however it doesn't seem to be working as I expect it to.     Hi ! I have a table with a varchar column. Its collation is set to utf8_bin. My software using this table and column works perfectly. But when I look at the content in phpmyadmin, I only see some hex values or [Blob xB]. Can I make phpmyadmin show the content correctly? Besides, when I set the collation to utf8_general_ci or utf8_unicode_ci, the phpmyadmin shows the content correctly. Thx Marc [edit]Hah, I found out, there is a small "+Options" link above every table in phpmyadmin. It opens several options including "Show BLOB contents" - which makes the [blob] to readable text when enabled and "Show binary contents as HEX" which shows the hex codes as text when disabled. No idea why there are two options though and why sometimes there is a [Blob] and sometimes hex values. Well. Now I'm still wondering: Setting these options get lost when I go to another table. I have to set them every time I go there. Is there a way to save those options? [/edit]

  • In iTextSharp, can we set the vertical position of the pdfwriter?

    Hello, I've recently started using iTextSharp to generate PDF reports from data. It works quite nicely. In one particular report, I need a section to always appear at the bottom of the page. I'm using the PdfContentByte to create a dashed line 200f from the bottom: cb.MoveTo(0f, 200f); cb.SetLineDash(8, 4, 0); cb.LineTo(doc.PageSize.Width, 200f); cb.Stroke(); Now I'd like to insert content below that line. However, (as expected) the PdfContentByte methods don't change the vertical position of the PdfWriter. New paragraphs, for example, appear earlier in the page. // appears wherever my last content was, NOT below the dashed line doc.Add(new Paragraph("test", _myFont)); Is there some way to instruct the pdfwriter that I'd like to advance the vertical position to below the dashed line now, and continue inserting content there? There is a GetVerticalPosition() method -- it'd be nice if there was a corresponding Setter :-). // Gives me the vertical position, but I can't change it var pos = writer.GetVerticalPosition(false); So, is there any way to set the writer's position by hand?   • icacls giving an error message "The System cannot Find the File Specified" When executed on folder

    I have a remote share in windows 7 and accessing the same share from windows 2008. I have a small script in PHP which denys the read permission on a folder in a share and again give the full permissions on that folder in the share and deletes that folder .Here the Problem is "Denying the Read Permission is working fine and again assigning full permission on that folder in the share is not working .Iam using icacls for assigning all the permissions .When i try to assign the Full permission on that folder in the share It is giving error message "The system cannot find the file specified ".When we output the command from the script and execute it on commandline it is working fine .Why is it not working from my PHP script .Please Advise me $dir_name = "testdir"; $share_path = "\\SERVERABCD\myshare"; mkdir($share_path."\$dir_name"); $path_escaped = '"'.$path.'"'; $user = getenv('USERNAME'); $cmd = 'icacls ' . $path_escaped . (for the purpose of testing this i added the needed jquerry and jquerryui script and css references directly to the partial view) But if i use a Ajax.Actionlink to load this partial view inside a div (called div2, submitting the above form should update div1) like this: <div id="div1"> <%= Ajax.ActionLink("Edit", "/EditData", new { id = Model.id }, new AjaxOptions { HttpMethod = "GET", UpdateTargetId = "div2" } )%> </div> <div2>placeholder for the form</div> the datepicker wont apear anymore. My best guess is the javascript included in the loaded html doesnt get executed, ($(document).ready(function() { $("#datepicker").datepicker(); }); doesnt work either if that's the case how and where should i call the $("datepicker").datepicker(); ? (putting it in the ajaxoptions of the ajax.actionlink as oncomplete = "$(function() { $('#datepicker').datepicker();});" still doesnt work. if thats not the case, then where's my problem?
