  • RenderControl error

    - by Rubans
    HI, I have a grid with which I'm templating columns with and one column is a user control. Since I'm adding these in the code behind ( using ITemplate), I get an error when I try to render the UserControl. This particular user control does require a scriptmanager since it includes a ajax control (radcombobox). The error I get is : Script control 'LookupComboBox' is not a registered script control. Script controls must be registered using RegisterScriptControl() before calling RegisterScriptDescriptors(). I'm not sure even if my approach is correct using user control and using RenderControl.

  • Clear fields on CreateUserWizard, Login control

    - by Midhat
    I have a createuserwizard and a login control on a page. both of them are customized (standard textboxes are replaced by RadTextBoxes) When i enter a value in the form and refresh the browser without submitting, the forms retain their values. Is there any way i can clear these fields on refresh. I have tried settinf EnableViewState false on the controls (as seen somewhere on the web) but it doesnt work I have added code in page load to clear the fields if the page !IsPostBack. it looks something like this if (!IsPostBack) { ((RadTextBox)Login1.FindControl("Username")).Text=""; ((RadTextBox)Login1.FindControl("Password")).Text = ""; ((RadTextBox)CreateUserWizard1.CreateUserStep.ContentTemplateContainer.FindControl("Username")).Text = ""; ((RadTextBox)CreateUserWizard1.CreateUserStep.ContentTemplateContainer.FindControl("Password")).Text = ""; ((RadTextBox)CreateUserWizard1.CreateUserStep.ContentTemplateContainer.FindControl("confirmPassword")).Text = ""; ((RadTextBox)CreateUserWizard1.CreateUserStep.ContentTemplateContainer.FindControl("Email")).Text = ""; } Still of no avail Any suggestions

  • Simple Convention Automapper for two-way Mapping (Entities to/from ViewModels)

    - by Omu
    UPDATE: this stuff has evolved into a nice project, see it at http://valueinjecter.codeplex.com check this out, I just wrote a simple automapper, it takes the value from the property with the same name and type of one object and puts it into another, and you can add exceptions (ifs, switch) for each type you may need so tell me what do you think about it ? I did it so I could do something like this: Product –> ProductDTO ProductDTO –> Product that's how it begun: I use the "object" type in my Inputs/Dto/ViewModels for DropDowns because I send to the html a IEnumerable<SelectListItem> and I receive a string array of selected keys back public void Map(object a, object b) { var pp = a.GetType().GetProperties(); foreach (var pa in pp) { var value = pa.GetValue(a, null); // property with the same name in b var pb = b.GetType().GetProperty(pa.Name); if (pb == null) { //no such property in b continue; } if (pa.PropertyType == pb.PropertyType) { pb.SetValue(b, value, null); } } } UPDATE: the real usage: the Build methods (Input = Dto): public static TI BuildInput<TI, T>(this T entity) where TI: class, new() { var input = new TI(); input = Map(entity, input) as TI; return input; } public static T BuildEntity<T, TI, TR>(this TI input) where T : class, new() where TR : IBaseAdvanceService<T> { var id = (long)input.GetType().GetProperty("Id").GetValue(input, null); var entity = LocatorConfigurator.Resolve<TR>().Get(id) ?? new T(); entity = Map(input, entity) as T; return entity; } public static TI RebuildInput<T, TI, TR>(this TI input) where T: class, new() where TR : IBaseAdvanceService<T> where TI : class, new() { return input.BuildEntity<T, TI, TR>().BuildInput<TI, T>(); } in the controller: public ActionResult Create() { return View(new Organisation().BuildInput<OrganisationInput, Organisation>()); } [AcceptVerbs(HttpVerbs.Post)] public ActionResult Create(OrganisationInput o) { if (!ModelState.IsValid) { return View(o.RebuildInput<Organisation,OrganisationInput, IOrganisationService>()); } organisationService.SaveOrUpdate(o.BuildEntity<Organisation, OrganisationInput, IOrganisationService>()); return RedirectToAction("Index"); } The real Map method public static object Map(object a, object b) { var lookups = GetLookups(); var propertyInfos = a.GetType().GetProperties(); foreach (var pa in propertyInfos) { var value = pa.GetValue(a, null); // property with the same name in b var pb = b.GetType().GetProperty(pa.Name); if (pb == null) { continue; } if (pa.PropertyType == pb.PropertyType) { pb.SetValue(b, value, null); } else if (lookups.Contains(pa.Name) && pa.PropertyType == typeof(LookupItem)) { pb.SetValue(b, (pa.GetValue(a, null) as LookupItem).GetSelectList(pa.Name), null); } else if (lookups.Contains(pa.Name) && pa.PropertyType == typeof(object)) { pb.SetValue(b, pa.GetValue(a, null).ReadSelectItemValue(), null); } else if (pa.PropertyType == typeof(long) && pb.PropertyType == typeof(Organisation)) { pb.SetValue(b, pa.GetValue<long>(a).ReadOrganisationId(), null); } else if (pa.PropertyType == typeof(Organisation) && pb.PropertyType == typeof(long)) { pb.SetValue(b, pa.GetValue<Organisation>(a).Id, null); } } return b; }

  • Using the same class in both server and web service

    - by iTayb
    I have classes that are needed in both my web service and my server. For example, I have a class named Order that I'd like to send from my server to the web service and vice-versa. Problem is that the class in the server is Order and the one on the web service is localhost.Order, and it is impossible to convert between them, even though they are built from the very same code. Error is cannot convert from 'Order[]' to 'localhost.Order[]'. What can I do? Thank you very much.

  • Adapt beginner C# SQL Server INSERT example to work with my database

    - by Mike Bertelsen
    I have read TONS of tutorials, articles and whatever regarding my issue and honestly, due to my lack of experience I can't twist my fingers around this one so I hope some of you guys can help me out :) I am working on a project (simply to learn how to program so it's probably very basic), but I have this "News" page where I can update and delete data using a GridView. Now I would like to INSERT something into my database using 3 textboxes and 1 submit button. I have 3 rows that has to be inserted: Headline Date Content/the news itself. Which are stored under NyhedTB from the connectionstring: BoligStjernenConnectionString My query looks like this: INSERT INTO [NyhedTB] ([NyhedDato], [NyhedTitel], [NyhedTekst]) VALUES (@NyhedDato, @NyhedTitel, @NyhedTekst) I read on the internet that this code should do the magic for me (I will have to insert my own values ofc.): static void Insert() { try { string connectionString = "server=.;" + "initial catalog=employee;" + "user id=sa;" + "password=sa123"; using (SqlConnection conn = new SqlConnection(connectionString)) { conn.Open(); using (SqlCommand cmd = new SqlCommand("INSERT INTO EmployeeDetails VALUES(" + "@Id, @Name, @Address)", conn)) { cmd.Parameters.AddWithValue("@Id", 1); cmd.Parameters.AddWithValue("@Name", "Amal Hashim"); cmd.Parameters.AddWithValue("@Address", "Bangalore"); int rows = cmd.ExecuteNonQuery(); //rows number of record got inserted } } } catch (SqlException ex) { //Log exception //Display Error message } } I looked at this code and thought it should be easy enough but really, I can't figure it out.

Or do I only have the option of caching the DataTable object?

  • Can't get FCKEditor to work in a virtual directory.

    - by AngryHacker
    I have a WebForm that contains the following definition for the FCKeditor: <FCKeditorV2:FCKeditor ID="txtBody" runat="server" BasePath="/fckeditor/" Height="480px" ToolbarSet="WebCal1" > </FCKeditorV2:FCKeditor> This works fine in my VS2008-based web application. However, when I deploy it to a Virtual Directory in IIS, it looks for the FCKEditor files (e.g. javascript, stylesheets, etc...) in the /fckeditor folder, not in the /MyVirtualDir/fkceditor. I've tried changing the BasePath to ~/fckeditor/, but then it won't work on my dev machine. What is the right way to go, so that the FCKEditor maps onto the right directory. In my project the fckeditor directory is right off the root.

  • Html Attribute for Html.Dropdown

    - by kapil
    I am using a dropdown list as follows. <%=Html.DropDownList("ddl", ViewData["Available"] as SelectList, new { CssClass = "input-config", onchange = "this.form.submit();" })%> On its selection change I am invoking post action. After the post the same page is shown on which this drop down is present. I want to know about the HTML attribute for the drop down which will let me preserve the list selection change. But as of now the list shows its first element after the post. e.g. The dropdoen contains elements like 1,2,3,etc. By default 1 is selected. If I select 2, the post is invoked and the same page is shown again but my selection 2 goes and 1 is selected again. How can preserve the selection? Thanks, Kapil

  • Please help! request compression

    - by Naor
    Hi, I wrote an IHttpModule that compress my respone using gzip (I return a lot of data) in order to reduce response size. It is working great as long as the web service doesn't throws an exception. In case exception is thrown, the exception gzipped but the Content-encoding header is disappear and the client doesn't know to read the exception. How can I solve this? Why the header is missing? I need to get the exception in the client. Here is the module: public class JsonCompressionModule : IHttpModule { public JsonCompressionModule() { } public void Dispose() { } public void Init(HttpApplication app) { app.BeginRequest += new EventHandler(Compress); } private void Compress(object sender, EventArgs e) { HttpApplication app = (HttpApplication)sender; HttpRequest request = app.Request; HttpResponse response = app.Response; try { //Ajax Web Service request is always starts with application/json if (request.ContentType.ToLower(CultureInfo.InvariantCulture).StartsWith("application/json")) { //User may be using an older version of IE which does not support compression, so skip those if (!((request.Browser.IsBrowser("IE")) && (request.Browser.MajorVersion <= 6))) { string acceptEncoding = request.Headers["Accept-Encoding"]; if (!string.IsNullOrEmpty(acceptEncoding)) { acceptEncoding = acceptEncoding.ToLower(CultureInfo.InvariantCulture); if (acceptEncoding.Contains("gzip")) { response.AddHeader("Content-encoding", "gzip"); response.Filter = new GZipStream(response.Filter, CompressionMode.Compress); } else if (acceptEncoding.Contains("deflate")) { response.AddHeader("Content-encoding", "deflate"); response.Filter = new DeflateStream(response.Filter, CompressionMode.Compress); } } } } } catch (Exception ex) { int i = 4; } } } Here is the web service: [WebMethod] public void DoSomething() { throw new Exception("This message get currupted on the client because the client doesn't know it gzipped."); } I appriciate any help. Thanks!

  • jQuery Ajax (beforeSend and complete) working properly on FireFox but not on IE8 and Chrome

    - by Farhan Zia
    I am using jQuery ajax version 1.4.1 in my MVC application (though the issue I am discussing was same with the old jQuery version 3.2.1) as well, to check during customer registration if the username is already registered. As the user clicks on the "Check Availibility" button, I am showing a busy image in place of the check button (actually hiding the check button and showing the image) while checking the availibility on the server and then displaying a message. It is a Sync call (async: false) and I used beforeSend: and complete: to show and hide the busy image and the check button. This thing is working well on Firefox but in IE 8 and Chrome, neither the busy image appear nor the check button hides rather the check button remained pressed as the whole thing has hanged. The available and not available messages appear correctly though. Below is the code: HTML in a User Control (ascx): (i have replaced the angular braces with square below) [div id="available"]This Username is Available [div id="not_available"]This Username is not available [input id="txtUsername" name="txtUsername" type="text" size="50" /]  [button id="check" name="check" type="button"]Check Availability[/button] [img id="busy" src="/Content/Images/busy.gif" /] On the top of this user control, I am linking an external javascript file that has the following code: $(document).ready(function() { $('img#busy').hide(); $('div#available').hide(); $('div#not_available').hide(); $("button#check").click(function() { var available = checkUsername($("input#txtUsername").val()); if (available == "1") { $("div#available").show(); $("div#not_available").hide(); } else { $("div#available").hide(); $("div#not_available").show(); } }); }); function checkUsername(username) { $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "/SomeController/SomeAction", data: { "id": username }, timeout: 3000, async: false, beforeSend: function() { $("button#check").hide(); $("img#busy").show(); }, complete: function() { $("button#check").show(); $("img#busy").hide(); }, cache: false, success: function(result) { return result; }, error: function(error) { $("img#busy").hide(); $("button#check").show(); alert("Some problems have occured. Please try again later: " + error); } }); }

  • jQuery .ajax() call to page method works in FF only when async is false

    - by Steve
    I'm calling a page method using .ajax() and it works in IE8 whatever the value of async is. However, in FF3.6, it only works with async set to false. When async is set to true, in Firebug, I just see status aborted. The page validates. I can work with async set to false, but any clues as to why FF can't work with async set to true? $("[id$='_www']").click(function() { var hhh = false; $.ajax({ async: false, cache: false, type: "POST", url: "/abc/def.aspx/jkl", contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8", dataType: "json", data: "{ 'eee': '" + window.location.href.match(/\d{1,3}$/) + "', 'ttt': '" + $("[id$='_zzz']").val() + "' }", success: function(msg) { $("#ggg").html(msg.d); }, error: function(xhr, err) { hhh = true; } }); return hhh; });

  • DataAnnotations and Resources don't play nicely

    - by devlife
    I'm using dataannotations in an MVC2 app and am a little discouraged when trying to use RESX file resources for error messages. I've tried the following but keep getting the exception "An attribute [Required(ErrorMessage = Resources.ErrorMessages.Required)] [Required(ErrorMessageResourceName = Resources.ErrorMessages.Required, ErrorMessageResourceType = typof(Resources.ErrorMessages)] I keep getting that error message unless I replace ErrorMessageResourceName with "Required" instead of Resources.ErrorMessages.Required. Can anyone tell me if I'm doing this right?

  • Get website's server from IP address

    - by Steven
    I have a function that returns a website's server when you enter the url for the site: private string GetWebServer() { string server = string.Empty; //get URL string url = txtURL.Text.Trim().ToLower(); if (!url.StartsWith("http://") && !url.StartsWith("https://")) url = "http://" + url; HttpWebRequest request = null; HttpWebResponse response = null; try { request = WebRequest.Create(url) as HttpWebRequest; response = request.GetResponse() as HttpWebResponse; server = response.Headers["Server"]; } catch (WebException wex) { server = "Unknown"; } finally { if (response != null) { response.Close(); } } return server; } I'd like to also be able to get a website's server from the IP address instead of the site's url. But if I enter an IP address, I get an error saying "Invalid URI: The format of the URI could not be determined." when calling WebRequest.Create(url). Does someone know how I can modify this to accomplish what I want?

  • Why can't I debug from Visual Studio 2005 after installing IE8?

    - by tjrobinson
    I've just installed IE8 (final) and restarted. I can no longer debug Web Application Projects using Visual Studio 2005 on Windows Server 2003 Enterprise R2. I get the message "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" and then WebDev.WebServer.exe quits with no visible error message and nothing in the Event Viewer. Does anyone have any ideas? Things that haven't helped: Adding localhost to trusted sites Changing the port to 8080 or 80 Checking my hosts file (it's just got 127.0.0.1 localhost in it) Things that have helped a bit: Running (not debugging) with CTRL-F5, which works fine (unless you need to debug) Changing the default Visual Studio browser to Firefox, which allows me to debug My hosts file contains: # Copyright (c) 1993-1999 Microsoft Corp. # # This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows. # # This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. • Using UpdatePanels inside of a ListView

    - by Jim B
    Hey everyone, I'm wondering if anybody has run across something similar to this before. Some quick pseudo-code to get started: <UpdatePanel> <ContentTemplate> <ListView> <LayoutTemplate> <UpdatePanel> <ContentTemplate> <ItemPlaceholder /> </ContentTemplate> </UpdatePanel> </LayoutTemplate> <ItemTemplate> Some stuff goes here </ItemTemplate> </ListView> </ContentTemplate> </UpdatePanel> The main thing to take away from the above is that I have an update panel which contains a listview; and then each of the listview items is contained in its own update panel. What I'm trying to do is when one of the ListView update panels triggers a postback, I'd want to also update one of the other ListView item update panels. A practical implementation would be a quick survey, that has 3 questions. We'd only ask Question #3 if the user answered "Yes" to Question #1. When the page loads; it hides Q3 because it doesn't see "Yes" for Q1. When the user clicks "Yes" to Q1, I want to refresh the Q3 update panel so it now displays. I've got it working now by refreshing the outer UpdatePanel on postback, but this seems inefficient because I don't need to re-evaluate every item; just the ones that would be affected by the prerequisite i detailed out above. I've been grappling with setting up triggers, but i keep coming up empty mainly because I can't figure out a way to set up a trigger for the updatepanel for Q3 based off of the postback triggered by Q1. Any suggestions out there? Am I barking up the wrong tree?

  • Element 'Chart' is not a known element - dotnetCHARTING

    - by Ryan
    Hi, I am using dotnetCHARTING: the dll is installed in the GAC and referenced in my web.config (all versions appear to match). The project has a reference to the dll. web.config: <add assembly="dotnetCHARTING, Version=5.3.3540.17054, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=af2cd47db69d93bd"/> The site code compiles ok, but all aspx pages using the charting library complain that the Chart tag does not exist (warning that it might be a compile error). The aspx pages do not render the charts. Each page has a reference to the assembly: <%@ Register Assembly="dotnetCHARTING" Namespace="dotnetCHARTING" TagPrefix="dotnetCHARTING" %> Does anybody know what could be causing this? Thanks a lot for any help - I'm quite desperate to get this resolved. Ryan
