How would you design a question/answer view (iPhone SDK)

I'm new to iPhone development, and I have a question on how to create a view for my application. The view should display a problem (using formatted/syntax highlighted text), and multiple possible answers. The user should be able to click on an answer to validate it. Currently, I am trying to use a UITableView embedding UIWebView as contentView. That allows me to display formatted text easily. The problem is that it is a real pain to compute and adjust the height of the cells. I have to preload the webview, call sizeToFit, get its height, and update the cell accordingly. This process should be done for the problem and the answers (as they are HTML formatted text too). It's such a pain that I am planning to switch to something else. I thought using only a big UIWebView and design everything in HTML. But I looked at some articles describing how to communicate between the HTML page and the ObjectiveC code. This seems to involve some awful tricks too... So... that's it, I don't really know what I should do. I guess some of you dealt with such things before, and would provide some greatly appreciated tips :)

Problem Parsing JSON Result with jQuery

I am attempting to parse JSON using jQuery and I'm running into issues. In the code below, I'm using a static file, but I've also tested using an actual URL. Hello, Here's the functionality I'd like to exploit: I've a class myClass and would like to iterate over a collection that contains all the properties of that class. I'd like to send the index of that collection along with the other data so that I can control the each sequence of the iteration. Can't play wav file from Javascript in Firefox for Mac

I have the following html file that plays a wav file when the user hovers over the 'Play' anchor tag. Ajax -- re-load div on success.

I am trying to accomplish a "re-load." More specifically, I need to be able to refresh a portion of my page as a result of another successful ajax call. Moreover, I load my portion of the page via ajax which obtains it's content from an ajax post. The result is my content being displayed inside my portion precisely. I need this portion of the page refreshed after a successful ajax post. Here is some of the code: /* Ajax-- this part is loaded automatically, and I need it reloaded upon success of another ajax post. Changing CSS height property removes anchors?

I am working on a standard header/navigation for my website. I started with having a CSS "height" value of 100% for the html, body elements but this resulted in the wrong layout. However, when I change the CSS height property from "100%" to "auto", the layout is correct, but I lose the anchors in the navigation. Why is this? I compared the computed CSS in Firebug when the html, body height property was set to "auto" vs. "100%" and they were the same. JQuery Autocomplete plugin not working with JQuery 1.4.1

I've been using the JQuery Autocomplete plugin with JQuery version 1.3.2, and it has been working great. I recently updated JQuery in my project to version 1.4.2, and the Autocomplete plugin is now broken. The JQuery code to add items to a textbox on my web page doesn't seem to be getting called at all. Does anyone know if the JQuery Autocomplete plugin is incompatible with JQuery version 1.4.2, and if there is a fix for this problem? Redeclared javascript global variable overrides old value in IE

(creating a separate question after comments on this: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2634410/javascript-redeclared-global-variable-overrides-old-value) I am creating a globally scoped variable using the square bracket notation and assigning it a value inside an external js file. In another js file I declare a var with the same name as the one I just created above. Note I am not assigning a value. Since this is a redeclaration of the same variable the old value should not be overriden as described here: http://www.w3schools.com/js/js_variables.asp Create 2 javascript files with the following content : Script1 //create global variable with square bracket notation window['y'] = 'old'; Script2 //redeclaration of the same variable var y; if (!y) y = 'new'; alert(y); //shows New instead of Old in IE Include these 2 files in your html file <html> <head></head> <body> <script type="text/javascript" src="my.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="my2.js"></script> </body> </html> Opening this page in Firefox and Chrome alerts 'old' which is the expected behavior. What is the 'page lifecycle' of an ASP.NET MVC page, compared to ASP.NET WebForms? I'm tryin to better understand this 'simple' question in order to determine whether or not existing pages I have in a (very) simple site can be easily converted from ASP.NET WebForms. Either a 'conversion' of the process below, or an alternative lifecycle would be what I'm looking for. What I'm currently doing: (yes i know that anyone capable of answering my question already knows all this -- i'm just tryin to get a comparison of the 'lifecycle' so i thought i'd start by filling in what we already all know) Rendering the page: I have a master page which contains my basic template I have content pages that give me named regions from the master page into which I put content. In an event handler for each content page I load data from the database (mostly read-only). I bind this data to ASP.NET controls representing grids, dropdowns or repeaters. This data all 'lives' inside the HTML generated. Some of it gets into ViewState (but I wont go into that too much!) I set properties or bind data to certain items like Image or TextBox controls on the page. The page gets sent to the client rendered as non-reusable HTML. I try to avoid using ViewState other than what the page needs as a minimum. Client side (not using ASP.NET AJAX): I may use JQuery and some nasty tricks to find controls on the page and perform operations on them. If the user selects from a dropdown -- a postback is generated which triggers a C# event in my codebehind. This event may go to the database, but whatever it does a completely newly generated HTML page ends up getting sent back to the client. I may use Page.Session to store key value pairs I need to reuse later So with MVC how does this 'lifecycle' change?

But i haven't found a way to give live video stream to encoder. i.e. How to make encoder listen to particular UDP port. For table A in database X (test ) and table A in database Y (production) and for a simple filter ( e.g. listname = "XYZ" ) I need to show additions/deletions/updates in some way. which might be side-by-side or just html report 2 record added html table with some fields 2 record deleted html table with some fields Considering that this task is very common, I guess, certain components should exist ? Components either return some collections from parameters given for further visualizing or just produce reports mentioned above. 2. I need to push changes for the filter I mentioned in 1 and update table in production database for this filter only ( ie for the particular list approved by content person). Again probably there are certain SQL code generators - components in addition to diffs or standalone. 3. The key thing tools/libraries - should be suitable for integration with the existing application in C#.

Mostly PJAX site with some AngularJS

I have a site using PJAX all over the place and I have a few pages that are using AngularJS. For the AngularJS pages I would like to continue to use PJAX to get all the benefits associated with not reloading the entire HTML page, assets etc. Unfortunately, PJAX just loads some HTML into the page and doesn't fire any javascript. This is okay, because I can fire the javascript manually on pjax success, but I can't quite figure out what makes AngularJS initialize. For a simple scenario, lets say I AJAX the following HTML into a page. Also assume, the page already had Angular.js included. SimpleModal -- Open OnLoad

I'm new to JQuery -- not new to javascript. Was able to open the OSX STYLE DIALOG using the hyperlink button provided in the demo index.html page, but would like to open it on the page load. I read a couple links on StackOverflow (http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1611727/how-do-i-invoke-a-simplemodal-osx-dialog-on-page-load), but still could not get it to work in the exact same index.html page. I finally resorted to a stopgap measure by programmatically invoking the button click of a hidden button element -- see following fragment: onLoad="document.getElementById('load_OSX_Example').click();"> <input type="hidden" id="load_OSX_Example" value="" class='osx'> <script type="text/javascript" language="javascript"> //#### open the OSX Modal ########## $(document).ready(function(){ $("#osx-modal-content").modal(); }); </script> So I have two questions: How can you invoke the class='osx' using javascript/html programmatically? Why won't this work using the $("#osx-modal-content").modal(); call in javascript (see fragment above)? I tried this in multiple browsers, and the only content that displayed on the screen was content of this tag: "div id="osx-modal-title", and there was no error in the jscript console.

Best way to display a "High Scores" Results

First, I would to thank everyone for all the help they provide via this website. It has gotten me to the point of almost being able to release my first iPhone app! Okay, so the last part I have is this: I have a game that allows users to save their high scores. I update a plist file which contains the users Name, Level, and score. Now I want to create a screen that will display the top 20 high scores. What would be the best way to do this? At first I thought possibly creating an HTML file with this info but am not even sure if that is possible. I would need to read the plist file, and then write it out as HTML. Is this possible?
