  • Is there a better way to get values out of a table row?

    Hi Say I have this <table border="1" id="tbl"> <tr> <td><input type="checkbox" name="vehicle" value="Bike" /></td> <td>row 1, cell 1</td> <td>row 1, cell 2</td> </tr> <tr> <td><input type="checkbox" name="vehicle" value="Bike" /></td> <td>row 2, cell 1</td> <td>row 2, cell 2</td> </tr> </table> Now I want to get the row that is checked, then the cell values of that checked row. So I would do this var cells = $('#tbl :checked').parents('tr').children('td'); So lets assume only one checkbox can be checked(so no jqueyr foreach loop). So now say I wanted to get the 2nd table cells value I would just go var secondCell = $(cells[1]).html(); The thing with this though it makes the code so brittle. Like what if I put another table cell after after the checkbox one? <table border="1" id="tbl"> <tr> <td><input type="checkbox" name="vehicle" value="Bike" /></td> <td> I am new </td> <td>row 1, cell 1</td> <td>row 1, cell 2</td> </tr> <tr> <td><input type="checkbox" name="vehicle" value="Bike" /></td> <td> I am new </td> <td>row 2, cell 1</td> <td>row 2, cell 2</td> </tr> </table> So now I have to go through my code and change this var secondCell = $(cells[1]).html(); to this var thirdCell = $(cells[2]).html(); since now I am actually after the 3rd cell and not the 2nd cell anymore.   • ie not firing ajax complete call on certain page

    even with a piece of code like this $.get('getforums.php', function(data) { alert(data); }); works well in chrome, firefox, safari, opera but not this baby. tried everything, cleared cache, recreate this file in different editor, even make this file just echoed a 's', but no, it just don't like this file, works perfect on other file thanks for the help!

  • Sorting issues in flexigrid with "json" data

    I'm currently using flexigrid to display data in a current project, but am running into issues with its ability to properly sort certain columns that contain dates or numbers. The data is being sent from a ColdFusion CFC that selects the appropriate data and then delivers it in the proper "json" format. As the date/time stamps and other fields containing numbers are sent as "strings" they do not sort properly in the data grid. Is this a limitation of Flexigrid or am I sending the data improperly to Flexigrid? I can provide examples of my code if that is helpful.

  • Resize and center image in html/css?

    Is there a way I can resize, crop, and center an image using html/css only? (img tag or css sprite) For example if I have a 500x500 pixel image, I want to resize that to a 250x250 pixel image I want to make the actual visible image to be 100x100, but still have the scale of a 250x250 sized image. I want the center of the image to be at a location x,y. Is that possible with only html/css, if not, how do you propose I go about it with javascript? Edit - ????: For (2), say my scaled image is now 200x200, and I want my visible image to be 100x100: So I guess what I mean is I want the scale and resolution of the image to be 200x200 but I want the visible image to be 100x100 or in other words the visible image would be at coordinates x,y: 0,0; 0,100; 100,0; 100,100; of the 200x200 image. Sorry, but I'm not good at explaining this.

In short: My external javascript file doesn't seem to get the variables which I defined in the main.php file.. It prompts the user to approve its actions, then automatically uploads the XML file based on the client OS (and assuming the default installation path of iTunes). How the heck does it do that? None of the upload libraries I've looked at have this feature. They all assume that a user will click "Select file..." then browse around for the right thing to upload.

    Here is the the function and the globals: $note_instance = Array(); $note_count = 0; function create(text){ count = $note_count++; time = 5000; $note_instance[count] = $notifications.notify("create", text); setTimeout(function(){ $note_instance[count].close() }, time); } The function simply opens a notification, a sets a timeout to close it in 5 seconds. so if i call this create("Good Note 1"); create("Good Note 2"); create("Good Note 3"); Ecah note should close 5 seconds from their creation, however always and only the last note closes, in this case "Good Note 3". Each note object has its own entry in the the $note_instance global array so the timeouts should no be overwriting themselves. What am i missing here folks? Thanks in advance

So far, I've managed to add a class name to the affected elements: $("input, textarea, select") .hover(function(){ $(this).addClass("hover"); }, function(){ $(this).removeClass("hover"); }) .focus(function(){ $(this).addClass("focus"); }) .blur(function(){ $(this).removeClass("focus"); }); $("input[type=text]").each(function(){ $(this).addClass("text"); }); However, I'm still forced to duplicate selector in my style sheets: textarea:focus, textarea.focus{ } And, to make things worse, IE6 seems to ignore all the selectors when it finds an attribute: input[type=text], input.text{ /* IE6 ignores this */ } And, of course, IE6 ignores selectors with multiple classes: input.text.focus{ /* IE6 ignores this */ } So I'm likely to end up with this mess: input[type=text]{ /* Rules here */ } input.text{ /* Same rules again */ } input[type=text]:focus{ } input.text_and_focus{ } input.text_and_hover{ } input.text_and_focus_and_hover{ } My question: is there any way to read the rules or computed style defined for a CSS selector and apply it to certain elements, so I only need to maintain one set of standard CSS?

However, when I use the code below the button element of the list isn't anchored to the left of the list item and instead appears centered...Can anyone help me? It's driving me crazy!     Are these suggestions good to give for a successful training session? Practice time should be always given immediate after technical training? usually after receiving any technical session about any new thing we do routine work. If we don't do practice just after training, later when we do any work related to that training then we feel we need training again. So if we are getting training today and will not use it for some period of time (15 -30 -60 days) then the training is of no use, as it is at the wrong time. I.e.     I'm having trouble with special characters that exist in an xml node attribute. To combat this, I'm trying to render the attributes as child nodes and, where necessary, using cdata sections to get around the special characters. The problem is, I can't seem to get the cdata section appended to the node correctly. I'm iterating over the source xml node's attributes and creating new nodes. If the attribute.name = "description" I want to put the attribute.text() in a cdata section and append the new node.
