  • Modifying a HTML page to fix several "bugs" add a function to next/previous on a option dropdown

    SOF, I've got a few problems plaguing me at the moment and am wondering if anyone could assist me with them. I'm trying to get Next Class | Previous Class to act as buttons so that when Next Class is clicked it will go to the next item in the dropdown list and for previous it would go to back one. There used to be a scroll bar that allowed me to scroll the main window left and right, it's missing because (I think it was to do with the scroll left and scroll right function) The footer at the bottom doesn't show correctly on mobile devices; for some reason it appears completely differently to as it does on a computer. The "bar" practically and the Scroll Left and Scroll buttons don't appear at all on mobile devices. The scroll left button is unable to be clicked for some reason, I'm unsure what I've done wrong. Refreshing the page resets the horizontal scroll position to far left (I'm pretty sure this relates to the scroll bar) I want to also find a way so that on mobile devices the the header will not show the placeholder image, however I can't work out what CSS media tag(s) I should be using.   • Patterns and Libraries for working with raw UI values.

    By raw values, I mean the application level values provided by UI controls, such as the Text property on a TextBox. Too often I find myself writing code to check and parse such values before they get used as a business level value, e.g. PaymentTermsNumDays. I've mitigated a lot of the spade work with rough and ready extension methods like String.ToNullableInt, but we all know that just isn't right. We can't put the whole world on String's shoulders. Do I look at tasking my UI to provide business values, using a ruleset pushed out from the server app, or open my business objects up a bit to do the required sanitising etc. as they required? Neither of these approaches sits quite right with me; the first seems closer to ideal, but quite a bit of work, while the latter doesn't show much respect to the business objects' single responsibility. The responsibilities of the UI are a closer match. Between these extremes, I could also just implement another DTO layer, an IoC container with sanitising and parsing services, derive enhanced UI controls, or stick to copy and paste inline drudgery.

  • Is there a way to change the GTK theme for applications run as superuser on KDE?

    When I run GTK applications on KDE, they use the QtCurve theme that matches my color and font scheme as configured in the KDE System Settings application. However GTK applications run as superuser use the old default GNOME, regardless of whether I run them with kdesudo, gksudo, or sudo on a terminal. For example, here's gedit run as superuser on top, and under my normal user account on the bottom: Strangely, KDE applications run with kdesudo display the default Oxygen styling but use my settings when run with sudo on a terminal. Is there any way to configure the stying GTK applications use when run as superuser on KDE?

  • Commercial template (theme) sellers which give license to resell the template?

    I came once across a website template seller which granted rights to resell the template to the buyer but forgot to bookmark it. All the commercial template vendors I know of (Template Monster, BoxedArt, Dreamtemplate..etc) don't allow this. Anyone knows of any sellers which allow this? Some of them allow you to resell the template if it's packaged for a different host software. For example, if I buy a website template, I am allowed to sell it as a WordPress or Joomla or Drupal theme. I am aware of public domain and free templates sites but I am not looking for those. I am talking about templates which are being sold.

  • JQuery / JSON + .Net Service Layer - to WCF or Not to WCF?

    I Recently had a discussion with a colleague of mine about the pros / cons of WCF. He mentioned about how much code is generated to support WCF, and also the overhead required. It was mentioned that a simple jQuery /Ajax post to a .aspx page (or a handler for that matter) that returns JSON would work more efficiently and takes much less code to implement. I am also aware of the new WCF Web API and feel that technology may solve the "bloated"-ness required in attaining a proxy etc... by just outputting JSON. So when developing a relational DB (MSSQL) storage model, with a fairly complex Business Layer (C#) and Data Access Layer (EntityFW).. what's a good technology for creating a "service layer" which will spit out View Models represented in JSON, with a CQRS(Command Query..) approach in mind.. The app would use the service layer to support it's required UI, as well as provide an available subset of services (outputting JSON data) for service subscribers.. In other words an admin panel to support the admin UI, and service endpoints that return JSON to access the configurations made from the administration UI. What are some potential technologies to use as the transport / communication layer. I'd like to use a pure RESTful approach, but am not against doing some URL rewriting with IIS. Obviously some of the available technologies are: WCF WCF Web API (should this even be separate?) Straight request / response (query string to .aspx / handler) Would using MVC .Net solve this entire problem? maybe their single page app approach? any suggestions / feedback from developing this type of application?   • How to hide the mouse cursor

    I'm building a kiosk using Ubuntu Precise on a touch screen. Now I'm looking for the appropriate way to make the mouse cursor disappear. As people know where they are pointing, displaying an arrow under their finger is useless, and having an error where they last pointed even more so. My best bet would be some kind of cursor theme consisting only of transparent cursors. I'm a bit surprised to find no UI to switch and maybe install cursor themes the default Unity UI, but as I won't be using Unity, that's not much of a problem. It appears that the alternatives listed in update-alternatives --list x-cursor-theme all refer to .theme files, so I searched the package list for those. The resulting list does not list any likely candidates, i.e. no packages containing “invisible” or “transparent” in their name. So far, some googled result yielding a readme for “XCursor Transparent Theme” is my best bet. That would mean compiling those sources myself, perhaps putting them into my PPA. I'm also a bit sceptical about that result as said readme is dated from 2003. And I'm not sure that I'm not making things overly complicated. After all, there is quite some support in Precise for touch devices, so I don't believe I'm the first one who wants to get rid of his mouse cursor. Is there another way which doesn't involve user-compiled binary code? Is there a theme package for transparent cursors which I've overlooked? Is there some other mechanism to make the cursor disappear without changing the cursor theme? I'll be using Matchbox WM, Firefox and Java applets, so I'll be happy with any solution working under such a setup. I'm not interested in any solutions twiddling with Gnome or Compiz, as I'll not be running either.

    I have a chart generated with Morris.JS but the labels on the x-axis are to long and being cut off due to the limited height of the area showing the labels. The code below would render a graph that only shows the partial label for "COUNTY PARK ROAD ELEM.". How can I adjust the height of the label area to show the entire text?   • Openlayers - Redraw() layer. Add / Remove layer.

    TLDR: I have an Openlayers map with a layer called 'track' I want to remove track and add track back in. I have an image 'imageFeature' on a layer that rotates on load to the direction being set. I want it to update this rotation that is set in 'styleMap' on a layer called 'tracking'. I set the var 'stylemap' to apply the external image & rotation. The 'imageFeature' is added to the layer at the coords specified. 'imageFeature' is removed. 'imageFeature' is added again in its new location. Rotation is not applied.. The image will move in coordinates as it should though. So what am I doing wrong with the redraw function or how can I get this image to rotate live? Thanks in advance -Ozaki Add: I managed to get map.layers[2].redraw(true); to sucessfully redraw layer 2. But it still does not update the rotation. I am thinking because the stylemap is updating. But it runs through the style map every n sec, but no updates to rotation and the variable for heading is updating correctly if i put a watch on it in firebug.

    For one of the columns in my jqGrid, I'm providing a custom formatter function. I'm providing some special cases, but if those conditions aren't met, I'd like to resort to using the built-in date formatter utility method. It doesn't seem that I'm getting the right combination of $.extend() to create the options that method is expecting.   • jqGrid Filter Toolbar initial default value

    I'm using jqGrid with the filter toolbar, i need to set an initial default filter value to one of the fields so that only rows with status 'Open' are displayed by default, but the user can display Closed rows if desired. At the moment i have a workaround like this setTimeout(function() {$('#gs_Status').val('Open');$("#eventsGrid")[0].triggerToolbar()},500); but it results in a second request and is pretty bad really. Does anybody know how to do this?

For example <p>,<h1>, etc. I would like to put directly the focus on one of this elements. For example on <p id="p_test">. But it seems that focus() function doesn't work on <div> elements, <p> elements... Is there a another means to define the focus in my case ? Thank you very much for your help !
