    It used to be the number one reason for us to choose MSTest from others that we could access and test private methods. Now that Private accessors are deprecated in Visual Studio 2012. Does anyone know why Microsoft make such decision? Is it because it's not a good practice to test private methods? Also, if I still need to unit test my private methods, how could I do that in VS 2012 and later versions?

    i have c code that was compiled on windows NT with microsoft visual studio 6.0. I am migrating this code to a new machine using windows xp. What ide is suitable for this? I dont think ms visual 6.0 has been designed for xp...can i just use visual studio c++ to compile c code and keep the same functionality?

    During the initial release of the HadoopOnAzure, Microsoft had provided the C#Isotope SDK as a programatic interface to the Hadoop cluster on the Azure. After the HDInsight release this is removed from the downoads. More over while trying with the previous version of the sdk we get a 500 - Internal Server Error. Any idea if this services is disabled? If so whats the alternative way to programatically interface with the HDInsight Cluster on Azure?

    I am using MS AJAX ASP.NET Components (Calendar Extender) and I'm finding this problem. Some weekdays are not being displayed.... I uploaded a picture so you can view exactly how it is being displayed... The one on the right (calnder) in the picture is taken from microsoft's sample.     Hi, I'm trying to achieve a requirement in Pre-requisites part of my package: The package should be able to check for the presence of a specific Operating System or Microsoft Patch on the target machine and block installation if the specified OS&patch is not found. I want to pass this information from Configuration xml or ini file, so that installer need not to be edited and build again for changes in requirements. Any ideas on how to achieve this!!

    Hi, I recently contacted a web host regarding support for external database access to a Microsoft SQL Server database included in a package they offer. They replied saying that it is only possible with an SSH-tunnel. Is it possible to connect to a SQL Server database in Visual Studio using an SSH-tunnel? It is important for me to be able to access the database from my local machine (for debugging, generating LINQ classes, editing tables, etc). Or, how should I go about working with their database?

    I was wondering if there are any 3rd party controls for use with the iPhone that are available, even better if usable from Interface Builder. From what I can gather, the answer is no. I come from a Microsoft .NET background where of course there are tons of controls available from 3rd parties. I'm curious if this is a general Mac development ecosystem fact, i.e. no 3rd party controls for sale, or just an iPhone one, or if I've just missed finding them.

The problem what I have: my variable expired before a authentication automatically logout. I have added a reference to Microsoft Outlook 14.0 Object Library, but for users of Outlook 2007, do they require version 12.0 or will the newer version work?

If I implement Forms-Based Authentication on the 10 pages, will it also spread across the public part of the website too? i.e. changes in web.config.     I have been exploring the possibilities of Microsoft Silverlight and how it runs in web browsers. I just wonder if Silverlight requires the .NET framework? Meaning that Mac or Linux users cannot run Silverlight. I will be making the application using the .NET framework 3.5. Will this application run in any web browser, or just major ones like Internet Explorer, Firefox, or Safari?
