  • VB.NET - Convert Unicode in one TB to Shift-JIS in another TB

    Trying to develop a text editor, I've got two textboxes, and a button below each one. When the button below textbox1 is pressed, it is supposed to convert the Unicode text (intended to be Japanese) to Shift-JIS. The reason why I am doing this is because the software VOCALOID2 only allows ANSI and Shift-JIS encoding text to be pasted into the lyrics system. Users of the application normally have their keyboard set to change to Japanese already, but it types in Unicode. How can I convert Unicode text to Shift-JIS when SJIS isn't available in the System.Text.Encoding types?

The following code will work under VC2008. std::string Utils::CString2String(const CString& cString) { // Convert a TCHAR string to a LPCSTR CT2CA pszConvertedAnsiString (cString); // construct a std::string using the LPCSTR input std::string strStd (pszConvertedAnsiString); return strStd; } But VC6 doesn't have CT2CA macro. How I can make the code to work as well in both VC6 and VC2008?

(which I put in 'all_subs') Match: m = /sub_id\"\:\"([^\"]+)\"/.match(all_subs.to_str) [1] Print: puts m.force_encoding("UTF-8").unpack('U*').pack('U*') But it just comes out the same way I put it in. ie, "\u0d9c\u8138\u8134\u3f30\u8139\u2b71" However, if I convert a raw string of it: puts "\u0d9c\u8138\u8134\u3f30\u8139\u2b71".unpack('U*').pack('U*') The output is perfect as "??????"

    I am considering migrating to Firebird. To have a "quick start" approach I downloaded the trial of a conversion tool (DBConvert) and tried it. I just picked up a random tool, this tool doesn't convert procedures, functions and triggers (I don't think it is a limit of the trial since there is not an explicit reference to sp, sf and triggers in the link above). Anyway by trying that tool I had the message: "The DB cannot be converted succesfully because some FK names are too long." This is because in some tables I have FK whose description is 32 chars. Is this a real firebird limit or it is possible to overcome it somehow (of course renaming the FK is an extreme option because it is extra work)? Anyway how to convert a MS SQL DB fully to FIREBIRD? Is there a valid tool? Did someone succed in a conversion of non trivial databases?

    I need to import jpeg images into a WP7/XNA app with associated metadata. The program which manages these images exports to an XML file with an encoded byte[] of the jpg files. I've written a custom importer/processor which successfully imports the reserialized objects into my XNA project.     In ColdFusion, I can parse a string of XML formatted data into an XML Object using xmlParse(). How can I convert it back into a string? When I tried using toString() it throws an error that "it can't convert complex object to simple objects....", which is ironic because that's what it's supposed to do. I need to use XMLTransform() which requires the first argument to be an xml string. But I also need to use xmlSearch() to get a node to pass into my transform, and xmlSearch returns an xmlObject. So now I need to put that object back into xml string format to pass into xmlTransform.

Could someone please help me convert this. It's the with and union statements that are making this a bit more complex for me. Any help appreciated.

  • C#: why Base class is allowed to implement an interface contract without inheriting from it?

    I've stumbled upon this "feature" of C# - the base class that implements interface methods does not have to derive from it. Example: public interface IContract { void Func(); } // Note that Base does **not** derive from IContract public abstract class Base { public void Func() { Console.WriteLine("Base.Func"); } } // Note that Derived does *not* provide implementation for IContract public class Derived : Base, IContract { } What happens is that Derived magically picks-up a public method Base.Func and decides that it will implement IContract.Func. What is the reason behind this magic? IMHO: this "quasi-implementation" feature is very-unintuitive and make code-inspection much harder. What do you think?

    I have an image that was originally a PNG that I have converted to a byte[] and saved in a database. Originally, I simply read the PNG into a memory stream and converted the stream into a byte[]. Now I want to read the byte[] back and convert it to a BitmapImage, so that I can bind a WPF Image control to it. I am seeing a lot of contradictory and confusing code online to accomplish the task of converting a byte[] to a BitmapImage. I am not sure whether I need to add any code due to the fact that the image was originally a PNG. Can anyone provide the code to convert the stream to a BitmapImage? Thanks for your help.
