I NEVER get it to evalueate to "Unassigned", on the ones that are supposed to, it just returns null. Have I written this wrong?

• What's the next big thing after LINQ?

  I started using LINQ (Language Integrated Query) when it was still in beta, more specifically Microsoft .NET LINQ Preview (May 2006). Almost 4 years have passed and here we are using LINQ in a lot of projects for the most diverse tasks. I even wrote my final college project based on LINQ. You see how I like it. LINQ and more recently PLINQ (Parallel LINQ) give our jobs a great boost when it comes to more programming power and less lines of code leading us to more expressive and readable code. I keep thinking what could be the next big language improvement for C# after LINQ. I know there are some promissing language features coming as Code Contracts, etc, but nothing having the impact that LINQ had. What do you think could be the next big thing?

• JQuery Autocomplete - format listing and only return a part to the text box

  I'm using the JQuery Autocomplete and it's working just fine. I'm using it to allow someone to search for users out of a database by searching on last name or id number. Right now the drop down list that is created is the resultes of a SQL query and looks something like: $row_rst['lName'] . ', ' . $row_rst['fName'] . " - " . $row_rst['user'] . "|" . $row_rst['id'] which outputs something like: Jones, Henry - hjones Gibbons, Peter - pgibbons When I pick Henry the text box gets Jones, Henry - hjones and the hidden field gets his id. I'd like to format the drop down in columns if possible and only return Jones, Henry to the text box if possible. Are either of those options possible? I'm thinking it has to do with either formatItem(row) or formatResult(row) but I'm not sure and I can't seem to find how to go about this.

  I have a WPF BitmapImage which I loaded from a .JPG file, as follows: this.m_image1.Source = new BitmapImage(new Uri(path)); I want to query as to what the colour is at specific points. For example, what is the RGB value at pixel (65,32)? How do I go about this? I was taking this approach: ImageSource ims = m_image1.Source; BitmapImage bitmapImage = (BitmapImage)ims; int height = bitmapImage.PixelHeight; int width = bitmapImage.PixelWidth; int nStride = (bitmapImage.PixelWidth * bitmapImage.Format.BitsPerPixel + 7) / 8; byte[] pixelByteArray = new byte[bitmapImage.PixelHeight * nStride]; bitmapImage.CopyPixels(pixelByteArray, nStride, 0); Though I will confess there's a bit of monkey-see, monkey do going on with this code.   I'm trying to send a very long binary integer over UDP (on the order of 200 bits). When I try to use Array's pack method, it complains the string I'm trying to convert is too large.   I'm looking for a MySQL equivalent of what str_replace is for PHP. I want to replace all instances of one word with another, I want to run a query that will replace all "apples" with "oranges". The reason why: UPDATE fruits SET name='oranges' WHERE name='apples'; isn't going to work for my situation, is because I often times have multiple words in a table row separated by commas like: "apples, pears, pineapples". In this case I want just apples to be replaced by oranges and pear and pineapples to stay in tact. Is there any way to do this?

  Hi, i have an big problem with an SQL Statement in Oracle. I want to select The TOP 10 Records ordered by STORAGE_DB wich arent in a list from an other select statement. I think because the limit takes in place before the order. Does someone has an good solution? The other problem: This query is realy slow (10k+ records)

• Silverlight WCF service acting strange

  Hi I have a silverlight project that calls into a wcf service. Everything works fine on my local machine. However when I deploy to a virtual machine, with the exact same query the wcf service returns, but the result is empty. I've tried debugging, but have not been able to get it to break in the wcf service. Any ideas what the problem could be, or how I could go about debugging it? Thanks I figured out what the problem is, but am not sure what the solution is. In my silverlight project the wcf service I am referencing is http://localhost/.../SilverlightApiService.svc I used fiddler on my vm to see the request that was made and instead of trying to contact the above service, it was trying to contact: http:///.../SilverlightApiService.svc So, for some reason my machine name is getting inserted in there instead of localhost. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

I guess the parameters inside the nodes are messing it up.. How do I get this "cuf" with linq? What if I wanted the Id parameter in infNFe ?

• Is there an HTML browser rendering engine for Ruby?

  Given a URL, I would like to be able to render the returned HTML to know width and height for each div, fonts' size for each piece of text, color of each element, position of each element on screen, etc. A possible approach could be traversing the DOM tree with Hpricot and checking CSS style by parsing the associated stylesheet using css_parser gem. But this would not consider default styles, inheritance, floats, etc. In Java there's Cobra, a Java Web Renderer, which is able to render a web page and query attributes like width, font size, etc. for each fragment. I could use Cobra with JRuby or similar solutions, but prefer a Ruby native tool. Is there any library like this for Ruby?

  I'm completely new to Silverlight and I want to connect to a Netezza database with an ODBC connection and pull records to display nicely in Silverlight. What's the easiest way to do this? From some research, it seems creating a WCF RIA service is what most people do ( http://www.codeproject.com/Articles/354715/Creating-a-WCF-RIA-Services-Class-Library-for-a-Si ) but the process seems a bit convoluted. Coming from an ASP.net background, could I do something simpler like creating an ODBC connection in the code-behind (using System.Data.ODBC functionality), executing a query, storing the returned records in a Datatable and then binding that to some Silverlight control?

  I have some data I am querying. The table is composed of two columns - a unique ID, and a value. I would like to count the number of times each unique value appears (which can easily be done with a COUNT and GROUP BY), but I then want to be able to count that. So, I would like to see how many items appear twice, three times, etc. So for the following data (ID, val)... 1, 2 2, 2 3, 1 4, 2 5, 1 6, 7 7, 1 The intermediate step would be (val, count)... 1, 3 2, 3 7, 1 And I would like to have(count_from_above, new_count)... 3, 2 -- since three appears twice in the previous table 1, 1 -- since one appears once in the previous table Is there any query which can do that?   Our company is currently using Redmine, it's great for general tasks / troubleshooting (operation) but for development, I would like to adopt a more agile tool... and I found it in pivotaltracker. I googled but couldn't find any info., so that gave me a good excuse to try StackOverflow. Has anyone done it? I'm thinking of using PivotalTracker as the main tool, and all activities will be posted back to redmine for archiving and reporting.   I have a custom data source which pulls out data form a flat file. The flat file contains a timestamp , source and data. I can use sp_execute to execute a select query against the flat file. I'm currently using 2 stored procedures . - one which runs a select * from flat_file into a temp table - the other which does a select min/max from flat_file grouping by source into another temp file Im using the data retrieved using the stored procedures in a SSRS report Is is possible in a a single stored procedure to retrieve all the rows from the file within a date range and also identify the min/max values for each group retrieved ?e

• checkins/recent not returning comments or even counts of comments

  My application has been using the checkins/recent endpoint to show where all the current users friends are currently at and I had included a button the user could press to comment on a checkin. The button used to have the comment count on it until recently. It seems the checkins/recent endpoint no longer returns comments or even a comment count for those checkins. I would have to query each checkin in order to get the comment count which adds to the data usage not to mention API usage counts. Is there another way to do this that I'm not seeing? Could you please at least put the comment count back? You have the photo information, why not comments? Thanks
