  • Persisting and applying Linq Query to collection

    - by MattiasK
I have a scenario where I would want a plugin to construct a LINQ (to objects) query, send it across an appdomain and then apply and run it against a collection of my choosing Is it possible, how? If not, perhaps I could send a whole method (interface) across the appdomain and run it against the data on the appside? The main thing is that I want the data to reside in the CurrentDomain and the logic for operating on it in the plugin so I don't have to send the data across the boundary...

  • Problem creating a webpage in OOP pattern?

    - by Starx
I want to develop a website in OOP pattern, but I am stuck in a point whether I need to inherit from multiple classes. For example I have a main class "index" this class has several methods which need to inherited from other classes and I have created seperate classes for it like class "banner", class "content", class "footer" Not only this but class "content" has several methods to be inherited from other classes like class "gallery", class "news", etc I found out that multiple inheritance is not allowed, and using interface I cannot write codes in its methods, so how can i achieve a solution for this problem.

  • Make a table row's text editable immediately

    - by Ricky
I have an NSTableView in my user interface, where new rows are added when the user presses a button or keyboard shortcut. Each row consists of two text cells (the table is comprised of two columns). Is there a way to immediately select the first text cell of a new row which is added? So, basically, I would like the user to be able to press the button, adding a new row to the table and then having it editable straight away.

  • How to implement a simple auto-complete functionality?

    - by Kaarel
I'd like to implement a simple class (in Java) that would allow me to register and deregister strings, and on the basis of the current set of strings auto-complete a given string. So, the interface would be: void add(String) void remove(String) String complete(String) What's the best way to do this in terms of algorithms and data-structures?

  • Should I use an ArrayList or IList

    - by Farstucker
Im using the .NET framework 1.1 and Im hoping someone could help me implement a dynamic array of objects? A watered-down example of the object I wish use is below. Class CarObj { public string CarName; public string CarYear; } Should I use an ArrayList or do you think it would be better to make a CarList class to implement an IList interface? Is there a performance benefit for one over another?

  • How to set session timeout dinamically in java web applications?

    - by Jonathas Carrijo
Hi, I need to give my user a web interface to change the session timeout interval. So, each installation of the application might have different timeouts for their sessions, but they web.xml cannot be different. Is there a way to set the session timeout programatically, so that I could use, say, ServletContextListener.contextInitialized() to read the configured interval and set it upon application startup? Thanks a lot.

  • Should I bother with C++ or go straight to C#?

    - by Pat Riley
I have been writing embedded C applications for almost 20 years. In the last few years I have written quite a few PC based GUI interfaces in Visual C so I could interface my embedded systems to a PC. Although my primary work will still be in deeply embedded C, I have finally decided to move my PC based tools into Ruby - (for quick scripting type stuff) and C++ or C# for GUI based interfaces and applications. Should I bother with C++ or just move straight to C#?

  • Is Android a product line?

    - by geowa4
Android is an open source operating system that is modified by cell phone vendors (HTC, Motorola, etc.). Modifications include the user interface, drivers, and other proprietary extensions. Traditionally, product lines have been a suite of products or services that share a core set of functionality and are modified for different domains and markets. Does this still qualify as a product line?

  • NoSuchMethodErrors say the darndest things

    - by keynan21
So, I'm working in eclipse were everything compiles and runs correctly. However, when compiling under ant for the build server, A large number of tests fail with a NoSuchMethodError saying: class A implements B interface B extends C C requires method getSyncID() // standard getter for an int field. A.java contains getSyncID() A.class contains getSyncID() and yet the Error is still thrown. Does anyone know how the hell this could happen? how to fix it.

NSError * erorrOnRequesting; NSData *data = [NSURLConnection sendSynchronousRequest:request returningResponse:nil error:&erorrOnRequesting]; NSString* responseString = [[NSString alloc] initWithData:data encoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding]; if( erorrOnRequesting != nil) { dataObject.hasError = YES; dataObject.erorrMessage = @"Error on requsting to the web server"; return dataObject; } NSError *errorOnParsing; SBJSON *json = [[SBJSON new] autorelease]; NSDictionary *dataValues = [json objectWithString:responseString error:&errorOnParsing]; [responseString release]; if(errorOnParsing != nil) { //TODO: We have to send the website a feedback that there is some problem on the server end. dataObject.hasError = YES; dataObject.erorrMessage = @"Error on parsing, the server returned invalid data."; return dataObject; } dataObject.hasError = NO; dataObject.dataValues = dataValues; return dataObject; } @end Now when I build I got an error in the DataManager header where I #import Dataobject header, it says "error: expected')' before DataObject" I don;t understand what I miss. • BlockingQueue decorator that logs removed objects

    - by scompt.com
I have a BlockingQueue that's being used in a producer-consumer situation. I would like to decorate this queue so that every object that's taken from it is logged. I know what the straightforward implementation would look like: simply implement BlockingQueue and accept a BlockingQueue in the constructor to which all of the methods would delegate. Is there another way that I'm missing? A library perhaps? Something with a callback interface?

  • Sharing code between Android and Windows Mobile

    - by reuscam
I'm doing some initial research on smart phone development, and I noticed that Android and Windows Mobile both support c++ for application development. I was curious if anyone had any experience trying to manage shared files between both Android and Windows Mobile, and to what extent that code can be shared? e.g. no user interface can be shared, but web service and business logic classes can be shared, etc.

  • Should all the using directives for namespaces be inside the namespace?

    - by Sajeev SL
Microsoft StyleCop provided a warning when the using directives for namespaces are provided outside of the namespace. Is this really required as my view on this is that using dircetives for namespaces is for providing a alias name for namespace and for removing the need for providing the namespace name when a class/interface is used. I dont think it will be used for loading the assembly.

  • Trying to diagnose network problem: ping 127.0.0.1 (or any address) results in error code 1

    - by Mnebuerquo
NIC seems to be working, as windows detects the hardware and has a driver and reports success. DHCP seems to have gotten an ip address, 192.168.1.101. I released and renewed it and it seemed to work normally. I tried ping 127.0.0.1 as first step of testing network configuration. Pinging 127.0.0.1 with 32 bytes of data: PING: transmit failed, error code 1. I read somewhere that net helpmsg [error code] would give a human readable name for the error code. net helpmsg 1 says "Incorrect function" I've tried disabling the firewall and antivirus in McAfee SecurityCenter and I still get the same error. Could the firewall/antivirus be breaking it even if disabled? Broadcom Advanced Control Suite 2 is installed, and its network test passes all tests, including ping 192.168.1.1 which is the default gateway. If I try ping 192.168.1.1 from the command prompt I get the error code 1 again. So does anyone have any theories that would explain this problem? Other tests I should try? Thanks!

  • WSDL vs DLL. Which is better?

    - by Lopper
I would like to create a reusable interface to transfer some proprietary information over the TCP/IP connection. If given only the choice of either WSDL or DLL, what are the pros and cons of using each? This is assuming that Windows OS is used.

  • VB.NET CInt(Long) behaving differently in 32- and 64-bit environments

    - by LocoDelAssembly
    Hello everybody, this is my first message here. Today I had a problem converting a Long (Int64) to an Integer (Int32). The problem is that my code was always working in 32-bit environments, but when I try THE SAME executable in a 64-bit computer it crashes with a System.OverflowException exception. I've prepared this test code in VS2008 in a new project with default settings: Module Module1 Sub Main() Dim alpha As Long = -1 Dim delta As Integer Try delta = CInt(alpha And UInteger.MaxValue) Console.WriteLine("CINT OK") delta = Convert.ToInt32(alpha And UInteger.MaxValue) Console.WriteLine("Convert.ToInt32 OK") Catch ex As Exception Console.WriteLine(ex.GetType().ToString()) Finally Console.ReadLine() End Try End Sub End Module On my 32-bit setups (Windows XP SP3 32-bit and Windows 7 32-bit) it prints "CINT OK", but in the 64-bit computer (Windows 7 64-bit) that I've tested THE SAME executable it prints the exception name only. Is this behavior documented? I tried to find a reference but failed miserably. For reference I leave the MSIL code too: .method public static void Main() cil managed { .entrypoint .custom instance void [mscorlib]System.STAThreadAttribute::.ctor() = ( 01 00 00 00 ) // Code size 88 (0x58) .maxstack 2 .locals init ([0] int64 alpha, [1] int32 delta, [2] class [mscorlib]System.Exception ex) IL_0000: nop IL_0001: ldc.i4.m1 IL_0002: conv.i8 IL_0003: stloc.0 IL_0004: nop .try { .try { IL_0005: ldloc.0 IL_0006: ldc.i4.m1 IL_0007: conv.u8 IL_0008: and IL_0009: conv.ovf.i4 IL_000a: stloc.1 IL_000b: ldstr "CINT OK" IL_0010: call void [mscorlib]System.Console::WriteLine(string) IL_0015: nop IL_0016: ldloc.0 IL_0017: ldc.i4.m1 IL_0018: conv.u8 IL_0019: and IL_001a: call int32 [mscorlib]System.Convert::ToInt32(int64) IL_001f: stloc.1 IL_0020: ldstr "Convert.ToInt32 OK" IL_0025: call void [mscorlib]System.Console::WriteLine(string) IL_002a: nop IL_002b: leave.s IL_0055 } // end .try catch [mscorlib]System.Exception { IL_002d: dup IL_002e: call void [Microsoft.VisualBasic]Microsoft.VisualBasic.CompilerServices.ProjectData::SetProjectError(class [mscorlib]System.Exception) IL_0033: stloc.2 IL_0034: nop IL_0035: ldloc.2 IL_0036: callvirt instance class [mscorlib]System.Type [mscorlib]System.Exception::GetType() IL_003b: callvirt instance string [mscorlib]System.Type::ToString() IL_0040: call void [mscorlib]System.Console::WriteLine(string) IL_0045: nop IL_0046: call void [Microsoft.VisualBasic]Microsoft.VisualBasic.CompilerServices.ProjectData::ClearProjectError() IL_004b: leave.s IL_0055 } // end handler } // end .try finally { IL_004d: nop IL_004e: call string [mscorlib]System.Console::ReadLine() IL_0053: pop IL_0054: endfinally } // end handler IL_0055: nop IL_0056: nop IL_0057: ret } // end of method Module1::Main I suspect that the instruction that is behaving differently is either conv.ovf.i4 or the ldc.i4.m1/conv.u8 pair. If you know what is going on here please let me know Thanks
