  • looping through new div as they are created

    I have a div, let's call it class="phoneNo". Inside the div there are two links, one to add another div just like it, and another to delete the div itself. I'm trying to create a loop where if there's only 1 of these divs, the "delete" link should hide, and if there are more than 1 of these divs, the "delete" link should show up on all the divs. So far I came up with this, but no success: var pCount = $(".phoneNo").length; $(pCount).each(function(){ if (pCount <= 1) { $("a.deleteThis").hide(); } else if (pCount >= 1) { $("a.deleteThis").show(); } return true; });

  • any ideas for avoiding duplicate code in C# and javascript

    i have an asp.net mvc website where i build up most of the page using C# for example building up html tables given a set of data from my viewmodel i also have a lot of javascript that then dynamcially modifies these tables (add row for example). the javascript code to add a new row looks extremely similar to my "rendering" code i have in C# that is used to build up the html table in the first place. Every time i change the c# code to a add a new field, i have to remember to go back to the javascript code to do the same. is there a better way here?

  • optimized search using ajax and keypress

    i have the following code as i want to search a database as a user is typing into a textbox. This code below works fine but it seems a little inefficient as if a user is typing really fast, i am potentially doing many more searches than necessary. It works well on most websites, but somehow the script doesn't take effect on, for example, Lifehacker (like this page http://lifehacker.com/5939740/five-best-audio-editing-applications?popular=true ).     I have an array of data in php and I need to display this data in a HTML table. Here is what an example data set looks like. Array( Array ( [comparisonFeatureId] => 1182 [comparisonFeatureType] => Category [comparisonValues] => Array ( [0] => Not Available [1] => Standard [2] => Not Available [3] => Not Available ) [featureDescription] => Rear Seat Heat Ducts ),) The dataset is a comparison of 3 items (shown in the comparisonValues index of the array) In the end I need the row to look similar to this <tr class="alt2 section_1"> <td><strong>$record['featureDescription']</strong></td> <td>$record['comparisonValues'][0]</td> <td>$record['comparisonValues'][1]</td> <td>$record['comparisonValues'][2]</td> <td>$record['comparisonValues'][3]</td> </tr> The problem I am coming across is how to best do this. Should I create the entire table HTML on the server side pass it over an ajax call and just dump pre-rendered HTML data into a div or pass the json data and render the table client side. Any elegant suggestions? Thanks in advanced.
