  • Preserve images in Excel headers using Apache POI

    - by ddm
    I am trying to generate Excel reports using Apache POI 3.6 (latest). Since POI has limited support for header and footer generation (text only), I decided to start from a blank excel file with the header already prepared and fill the Excel cells using POI (cf. question 714172). Unfortunately, when opening the workbook with POI and writing it immediately to disk (without any cell manpulation), the header seems to be lost. Here is the code I used to test this behavior: public final class ExcelWorkbookCreator { public static void main(String[] args) { FileOutputStream outputStream = null; try { outputStream = new FileOutputStream(new File("dump.xls")); InputStream inputStream = ExcelWorkbookCreator.class.getResourceAsStream("report_template.xls"); HSSFWorkbook workbook = new HSSFWorkbook(inputStream, true); workbook.write(outputStream); } catch (Exception exception) { throw new RuntimeException(exception); } finally { if (outputStream != null) { try { outputStream.close(); } catch (IOException exception) { // Nothing much to do } } } } }

  • Infinispan equivalent to ehcache's copyOnRead and copyOnWrite

    - by waxwing
    Hi, I am planning to implement a cache solution into an existing web app. Nothing complicated: basically a concurrent map that supports overflowing to disk and automatic eviction. Clustering the cache could be requirement in the future, but not now. I like ehcache's copyOnRead and copyOnWrite features, because it means that I don't have to manually clone things before modifying something I take out of the cache. Now I have started to look at Infinispan, but I have not found anything equivalent there. Does it exist? I.e., the following unit tests should pass: @Test public void testCopyOnWrite() { Date date = new Date(0); cache.put(0, date); date.setTime(1000); date = cache.get(0); assertEquals(0, date.getTime()); } @Test public void testCopyOnRead() { Date date = new Date(0); cache.put(0, date); assertNotSame(cache.get(0), cache.get(0)); }

  • UnauthorizedAccessException cannot resolve Directory.GetFiles failure

    - by Ric Coles
    Hi all, Directory.GetFiles method fails on the first encounter with a folder it has no access rights to. The method throws an UnauthorizedAccessException (which can be caught) but by the time this is done, the method has already failed/terminated. The code I am using is listed below: try { // looks in stated directory and returns the path of all files found getFiles = Directory.GetFiles(@directoryToSearch, filetype, SearchOption.AllDirectories); } catch (UnauthorizedAccessException) { } As far as I am aware, there is no way to check beforehand whether a certain folder has access rights defined. In my example, I'm searching on a disk across a network and when I come across a root access only folder, my program fails. I have searched for a few days now for any sort of resolve, but this problem doesn't seem to be very prevalent on here or Google. I look forward to any suggestions you may have, Regards

  • ng-grid get filtered column count after filtering

    - by Ryan Langton
    I'm using ng-grid with filtering. Any time the filter updates I want to get the filtered item count. I have been able to do this using the filteredRows property of ngGrid. However I'm getting the rows BEFORE the filtering occurs and I want them AFTER the filtering occurs. Here is a plunker to demonstrate the behavior: http://plnkr.co/edit/onyE9e?p=preview Here is the code where filtering is occuring: $scope.$watch('gridOptions.filterOptions.filterText2', function(searchText, oldsearchText) { if (searchText !== oldsearchText) { $scope.gridOptions.filterOptions.filterText = "name:" + searchText + "; "; $scope.recordCount = $scope.gridOptions.ngGrid.filteredRows.length; } });

  • Modify headers in Pylons using Middleware

    - by Anders
    Hi all, I'm trying to modify a header using Middleware in Pylons to make my application RESTful, basically, if the user request "application/json" via GET that is what he get back. The question I have is, the variable headers is basically a long list. Looking something like this: [('Content-Type', 'text/html; charset=utf-8'), ('Pragma', 'no-cache'), ('Cache-Control', 'no-cache'), ('Content-Length','20'), ('Content-Encoding', 'gzip')] Now, I'm looking to just modify the value based on the request - but are these positions fixed? Will 'Content-Type' always be position headers[0][0]? Best Regards, Anders

  • Taking User Input in Java

    - by jdbeverly87
    I'm creating a program that checks if a word or phrase is a palindrome. I have the actual "palindrome tester" figured out. What I'm stuck with is where and what to place in my code to have the console read out "Enter palindrome..." and then text. I've tried with IO but it doesnt work out right. Also, how do I create a loop to keep going? This code only allows one at a time `public class Palindrome { public static void main(String args[]) { String s=""; int i; int n=s.length(); String str=""; for(i=n-1;i>=0;i--) str=str+s.charAt(i); if(str.equals(s)) System.out.println(s+ " is a palindrome"); else System.out.println(s+ " is not a palindrome"); } }

  • How do I enumerate a list of interfaces that are directly defined on an inheriting class/interface?

    - by Jordan
    Given the following C# class: public class Foo : IEnumerable<int> { // implementation of Foo and all its inherited interfaces } I want a method like the following that doesn't fail on the assertions: public void SomeMethod() { // This doesn't work Type[] interfaces = typeof(Foo).GetInterfaces(); Debug.Assert(interfaces != null); Debug.Assert(interfaces.Length == 1); Debug.Assert(interfaces[0] == typeof(IEnumerable<int>)); } Can someone help by fixing this method so the assertions don't fail? Calling typeof(Foo).GetInterfaces() doesn't work because it returns the entire interface hierarchy (i.e. interfaces variable contains IEnumerable<int> and IEnumerable), not just the top level.

    - by Searock
    I am trying to read customers.xml using javascript. My professor has taught us to read xml using `ActiveXObjectand he has given us an assignment to create a sample login page which checks username and password by reading customers.xml. I am trying to use DOMParser so that it works with firefox. But when I click on Login button I get this error. Error: syntax error Source File: file:///C:/Users/Searock/Desktop/home/project/project/login.html Line: 1, Column: 1 Source Code: customers.xml Here's my code. login.js var xmlDoc = 0; function checkUser() { var user = document.login.txtLogin.value; var pass = document.login.txtPass.value; //xmlDoc = new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLDOM"); /* xmlDoc = document.implementation.createDocument("","",null); xmlDoc.async = "false"; xmlDoc.onreadystatechange = redirectUser; xmlDoc.load("customers.xml"); */ var parser = new DOMParser(); xmlDoc = parser.parseFromString("customers.xml", "text/xml"); alert(xmlDoc.documentElement.nodeName); xmlDoc.async = "false"; xmlDoc.onreadystatechange = redirectUser; } function redirectUser() { alert(''); var user = document.login.txtLogin.value; var pass = document.login.txtPass.value; var log = 0; if(xmlDoc.readyState == 4) { xmlObj = xmlDoc.documentElement; var len = xmlObj.childNodes.length; for(i = 0; i < len; i++) { var nodeElement = xmlObj.childNodes[i]; var userXml = nodeElement.childNodes[0].firstChild.nodeValue; var passXml = nodeElement.childNodes[1].firstChild.nodeValue; var idXML = nodeElement.attributes[0].value if(userXml == user && passXml == pass) { log = 1; document.cookie = escape(idXML); document.login.submit(); } } } if(log == 0) { var divErr = document.getElementById('Error'); divErr.innerHTML = "<b>Login Failed</b>"; } } customers.xml <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <customers> <customer custid="CU101"> <user>jack</user> <pwd>PW101</pwd> <email>[email protected]</email> </customer> <customer custid="CU102"> <user>jill</user> <pwd>PW102</pwd> <email>[email protected]</email> </customer> <customer custid="CU103"> <user>john</user> <pwd>PW103</pwd> <email>[email protected]</email> </customer> <customer custid="CU104"> <user>jeff</user> <pwd>PW104</pwd> <email>[email protected]</email> </customer> </customers> I get parsererror message on line alert(xmlDoc.documentElement.nodeName); I don't know what's wrong with my code.   • How to execute a command from with in MSI?

    - by okhalid
    Hi, I have a installation setup with works like this: /exec.exe /some-command This whole setup is located on a shared disk to which my target machine have access to. All i want is to create a small MSI wrapper that basically executes the above command. I don't need to any other fancy things? I looked up on the web; there are tools that create MSI for you but they generate huge amount of other things with them as well. My need is very simple and straight forward. It would be great if some could help me with this issue. Thanks, Omer

  • Save matrix of double values in OpenCV

    - by Christian
    I have an OpenCV matrix of double (CV_32F) values. I'd like to save it to the disk. I know, I could convert it to an 1-Channel 8-bit IplImage and save it. But that way, I loose precision. Is there a way to save it directly in the 32-bit format, without having to convert it first? It also would be nice, if the resulting file would have an image format, so I can view the result as an image.

  • Where do Java Applets live?

    - by Wendi Peters
    I'm trying to figure out where java Applets that I run from the browser live. I'm using Firefox 3.0 on Windows XP with Java 1.6 if that makes any difference. From the Java Control Panel on the toolbar, I can access "Temporary Internet Files - Settings" to find the Java cache. From there I can show the resources and see a file called "dws2010066.dat". Does this resource correspond to a file on disk? I did a search in the Java cache/my whole computer and came up empty handed.

  • problem showing pictures stored outside web root folder

    - by David
    On a website users can upload pictures. For security reasons these are stored outside the webroot (public_html) folder. When I need to display the picture, I send the headers and have "readfile" read and output the picture data, like so: header("Pragma: public"); header("Expires: 0"); // set expiration time header("Cache-Control: must-revalidate, post-check=0, pre-check=0"); header('Content-type: image/jpg'); header('Content-Length: ' . $filesize); readfile($path_url . '/' . $photo); This works great, but the site is growing and this is starting to be a burden on the server. Question: is there a way to send the picture or picture data to the user, without the server first having to load the picture (obviously with the picture still being stored outside the webroot folder)? Thanks! David

  • How do I get a mp3 file's total time in Java?

    - by Tom Brito
    The answers provided in How do I get a sound file’s total time in Java? work well for wav files, but not for mp3 files. They are (given a file): AudioInputStream audioInputStream = AudioSystem.getAudioInputStream(file); AudioFormat format = audioInputStream.getFormat(); long frames = audioInputStream.getFrameLength(); double durationInSeconds = (frames+0.0) / format.getFrameRate(); and: AudioInputStream audioInputStream = AudioSystem.getAudioInputStream(file); AudioFormat format = audioInputStream.getFormat(); long audioFileLength = file.length(); int frameSize = format.getFrameSize(); float frameRate = format.getFrameRate(); float durationInSeconds = (audioFileLength / (frameSize * frameRate)); They give the same correct result for wav files, but wrong and different results for mp3 files. Any idea what do I have to do to get the mp3 file's duration?

  • PyQt4, QThread and opening big files without freezing the GUI

    - by jmrbcu
    Hi, I would like to ask how to read a big file from disk and maintain the PyQt4 UI responsive (not blocked). I had moved the load of the file to a QThread subclass but my GUI thread get freezed. Any suggestions? I think it must be something with the GIL but I don't know how to sort it? EDIT: I am using vtkGDCMImageReader from the GDCM project to read a multiframe DICOM image and display it with vtk and pyqt4. I do this load in a different thread (QThread) but my app freeze until the image is loaded. here is an example code: class ReadThread(QThread): def __init__(self, file_name): super(ReadThread, self).__init__(self) self.file_name = file_name self.reader.vtkgdcm.vtkGDCMImageReader() def run(self): self.reader.SetFileName(self.file_name) self.reader.Update() self.emit(QtCore.SIGNAL('image_loaded'), self.reader.GetOutput())

  • Bug when drawing a QImage on a widget with PIL and PyQt

    - by oulipo
    I'm trying to write a small graphic application, and I need to construct some image using PIL that I show in a widget. The image is correctly constructed (I can check with im.show()), I can convert it to a QImage, that I can save normally to disk (using QImage.save), but if I try to draw it directly on my QWidget, it only show a white square. Here I commented out the code that is not working (converting the Image into QImage then QPixmap result in a white square), and I made a dirty hack to save the image to a temporary file and load it directly in a QPixmap, which work but is not what I want to do https://gist.github.com/f6d479f286ad75bf72b7 Someone has an idea? If it can help, when I try to save my QImage in a BMP file, I can access its content, but if I try to save it to a PNG it is completely white

  • Understanding memory and cpu speed

    - by tipu
    Firstly, I am working on a windows xp 64 machine with 4gb ram and 2.29 ghz x4 I am indexing 220,000 lines of text that are more or less the same length. These are divided into 15 equally sized files. File 1/15 takes 1 minute to index. As the script indexes more files, it seems to take much longer with file 15/15 taking 40 minutes. My understanding is that the more I put in memory, the faster the script is. The dictionary is indexed in a hash, so fetch operations should be O(1). I am not sure where the script would be hanging the CPU. I have the script here.
