  • How to get Netty websocket client example working

    I'm struggling to get the netty example websocket client working. I've compiled successfully with 4.0.0.Alpha8, but when I try to connect to a server (also a netty example) I get: Exception in thread "main" io.netty.handler.codec.http.websocketx.WebSocketHandshakeException: Invalid handshake response upgrade: websocket at io.netty.handler.codec.http.websocketx.WebSocketClientHandshaker13.finishHandshake(WebSocketClientHandshaker13.java:204) which makes no sense to me whatsoever, given that this piece of code reads: String upgrade = response.getHeader(Names.UPGRADE); if (!Values.WEBSOCKET.equalsIgnoreCase(upgrade)) { throw new WebSocketHandshakeException("Invalid handshake response upgrade: " + response.getHeader(Names.UPGRADE)); } And as the message in the exception demonstrates, the Upgrade header does contain websocket as expected. Any idea what's going on?

  • Static Class Variables in Dynamic Library and Main Program

    I am working on a project that has a class 'A' that contains a static stl container class. This class is included in both my main program and a .so file. The class uses the default(implicit, not declared) constructor/destructor. The main program loads the .so file using dlopen() and in its destructor, calls dlclose(). The program crashes after main exits when glibc calls the destructor for the static class member variable. The problem appears to be that when dlclose() is called, the destructor for the static variable is called, then when main exits() glibc also calls the destructor, resulting in a double free. I have 2 questions, namely: 1) In this particular case, why are there not two copies of the static variable(yes i know that sounds somewhat ridiculous, but since both the main program and .so file have a separately compiled 'A', shouldn't they each have one?) 2) Is there any way to resolve this issue without re-writing class 'A' to not contain static member variables?

    I'm very new to LINQ and struggling to find the answers. I have a simple SQL query. Select ID, COUNT(ID) as Selections, OptionName, SUM(Units) as Units FROM tbl_Results GROUP BY ID, OptionName. The results I got were: '1' '4' 'Approved' '40' '2' '1' 'Rejected' '19' '3' '2' 'Not Decided' '12' Due to having to encrypt all my data in the database I'm unable to do sums. Therefore I have now brought back the data and decrypt it in the application layer. Results would be: '1' 'Approved' '10' '3' 'Not Deceided' '6' '2' 'Rejected' '19' '1' 'Approved' '15' '1' 'Approved' '5' '3' 'Not Deceided' '6' '1' 'Approved' '10' using a simple class I have called back the above results, and put them in a list class. public class results { public int ID {get;set;} public string OptionName {get;set;} public int Unit {get;set;} } I almost have the LINQ query to bring back the results like the SQL query at the top var q = from r in Results group p.Unit by p.ID int g select new {ID = g.Key, Selections = g.Count(), Units = g.Sum()}; How do I ensure my LINQ query also give me the Option Name?   • Forcing file redirection on x64 for a 32-bit application

    The silent redirection of 64-bit system files to their 32-bit equivalents can be turned off and reverted with Wow64DisableWow64FsRedirection and Wow64RevertWow64FsRedirection. We use this for certain file identity checks in our application. The problem is that in performing some of theses tasks, we might call a framework or Windows API in a DLL that has not yet been loaded. If redirection is enabled at that time, the wrong version of the dll may be loaded resulting in a XXX is not a valid Win32 application error. I've identified the few API calls in question and what I'd like to do force the redirection on for the duration of that call then revert it back - just the opposite of the provided Win32 APIs. Unfortunately these calls do not provide any sort of WOW64 compatibility flag like some of the registry methods do. The obvious alternative is to use Wow64EnableWow64FsRedirection, pass TRUE for Wow64FsEanbledRedirection. However there are a variety of warnings about the use of this method and a note that it is not compatible with Disable/Revert combo methods that have replaced it. Is there a safe way to force redirection on for a give Win32 call? The docs state the redirection is thread specific so I've considered spinning up a new thread for the specific call with appropriate locks and waits, but I was hoping for a simpler solution.

  • PHP - Processing Invalid XML

    I'm using SimpleXML to load in some xml files (which I didn't write/provide and can't really change the format of). Occasionally (eg one or two files out of every 50 or so) they don't escape any special characters (mostly &, but sometimes other random invalid things too). This creates and issue because SimpleXML with php just fails, and I don't really know of any good way to handle parsing invalid XML. My first idea was to preprocess the XML as a string and put ALL fields in as CDATA so it would work, but for some ungodly reason the XML I need to process puts all of its data in the attribute fields. Thus I can't use the CDATA idea. An example of the XML being: <Author v="By Someone & Someone" /> Whats the best way to process this to replace all the invalid characters from the XML before I load it in with SimpleXML?

    I have a legacy C++ application that constructs a tree of C++ objects. I want to use LLVM to call class constructors to create said tree. Where each T_ function is a C "thunk" that calls some C++ constructor, e.g.: void* T_string_M_new_A_2Pv( void *v_value ) { string *const value = static_cast<string*>( v_value ); return new string( value ); } The thunks are necessary, of course, because LLVM knows nothing about C++. The T_ functions are added to the ExecutionEngine in use via ExecutionEngine::addGlobalMapping(). When this code is JIT'd, the performance of the JIT'ing itself is very poor. I've generated a call-graph using kcachegrind. I don't understand all the numbers (and this PDF seems not to include commas where it should), but if you look at the left fork, the bottom two ovals, Schedule... is called 16K times and setHeightToAtLeas... is called 37K times. On the right fork, RAGreed... is called 35K times. Those are far too many calls to anything for what's mostly a simple sequence of call LLVM instructions. Something seems horribly wrong. Any ideas on how to improve the performance of the JIT'ing?

  • Visualizing read-only folders

    My application displays a folder structure in a tree. The user can browse the contents in these folders, and drag content into the folders. However, some of these folders are readonly (meaning no content can be dragged into them). I'm looking for a clear way of depicting this to the user, so they are aware which folders they can drag to before actually having to try it, i.e. hover state. Something not too alarming or interrupting (no big red crosses overlayed on top of the folder icons, for instance), preferably a recognized standard. Specifically, we are talking about an Outlook add-in showing a SharePoint folder tree here, but I'd much rather get the answer from a generic viewpoint. From the top of my head, I simply don't seem to know any applications that visually mark readonly folders.

  • Recommended build system for latex?

    I'm trying to figure out the best build system for latex. Currently, I use latex-makefile, editing in vim, and viewing changes in Okular or gv. The major problem is that it sometimes gets hides errors on me, and I have to run latex manually. The major advantages are that it does all the iteration I need, and offers both pdf and ps simply. If you have experience with latex-mk vim-latex kile lyx miktex latex-makefile the ultimate latex makefile rubber any others I havent come across Would you recommend them, and why/why not?

    Hello... I have a Ext.Viewport in my page... In North region, I have a Dropdown Menu... But When I mouse over a menu item, the menu items drop down but the items appear below the Center region panel. I have been unable to get this to work. I tried setting the z-index but no luck at all.   • Eclipse CDT: cannot debug or terminate application

    I have Eclipse set up fairly nicely to run the G++ compiler through Cygwin. Even the character encoding is set up correctly! There still seems to be something wrong with my configuration: I can't debug. The pause button in the debug view is simply disabled, and no threads appear in my application tree. It seems that gdb is simply not communicating with Eclipse. Presently, I have the debug settings as follows: Debugger: "Cygwin gdb Debugger" GDB debugger: gdb GDB command file: .gdbinit Protocol: Default I should mention here that I have no idea what .gdbinit does; in my project it is merely an empty file. What is wrong with my configuration? Debugging When attempting to terminate the application in debug mode, Eclipse displays the following error: Target request failed: failed to interrupt. I can't kill the process, either; I have to kill its parent gdb.exe, which in turn kills my application. Running When running it normally, a bunch of kill.exes are called, doing nothing, while Eclipse displays the following error: Terminate failed. I can kill FaceDetector.exe from the task manager.   • Tinyurl API Example - Am i doing it right :D

    Hi ... we use super-long Hashes for the Registration of new Users in our Application. The Problem is that these Hashes break in some Email Clients - making the Links unusable. I tried implementing the Tinyurl - API, with a simple Call, but i think it times out sometimes ... sometimes the mail does not reach the user. I updated the Code, but now the URL is never converted. Is Tinyurl really so slow or am i doing something wrong? (I mean hey, 5 Seconds is much in this Times) Can anybody recommend me a more reliable service? All my Fault, forgot a false in the fopen.   • Sync Framework: SqlSyncProvider ItemConflicting vs ApplyChangeFailed

    I'm trying to use design a syncronisation application that syncs changes between different SQL Server databases. I came up with a design based around receiving the ItemConflicting event, storing the knowledge associated with the conflict, and resolving all conflicts off-line. However, it seems that I can only get the ApplyChangeFailed event to fire. Is there some reason why SqlSyncProvider does not use the ItemConflicting event? Am I just hooking up to the event wrongly? The reason I care is that the ItemConlficting event allows me to simply log the conflict and continue with the rest of the synchronisation in a way that I can't seem to achieve with the ApplychangeFailed event.

    I'm starting a web application that contains the following projects: Booking.Web Booking.Services Booking.DataObjects Booking.Data I'm using the repository pattern in my data project only. All services will be the same, no matter what happens. However, if a customer wants to use Access, it will use a different data repository than if the customer wants to use SQL Server. I have StructureMap, and want to be able to do the following: Web project is unaffected. It's a web forms application that will only know about the services project and the dataobjects project. When a service is called, it will use StructureMap (by looking up the bootstrapper.cs file) to see which data repository to use.   • How to nest shapes in a DSL Tools diagram?

    I have a DSL containing two main domain classes: Area and Entity. Areas are represented visually by a GeometryShape, whereas entities are represented by a CompartmentShape. Entities can be embedded in an Area, or not (in this case they are embedded in the root object, which is a kind of Area). There may be relationships between entities, including between entities in different areas. Areas cannot be embedded inside of other areas, nor entities embedded inside of other entities. My problem is that I cannot get the behavior I want from the diagram. The embedding of entities in areas works perfectly well at the model level, but the visual representation behaves erratically. For example, if I drag an entity that was created in an area outside of that area, it no longer responds to mouse clicks (I have code that performs the re-parenting, but somehow the diagram side of things is broken). I have searched high and low for samples of how to do this, and come up empty. Every example I've found on the web simulates nesting via "references" relationships, whereas I am performing true embedding of the domain classes (and therefore of their associated shape classes). Does anyone have an example of how to do this? While I'm venting, am I the only one who thinks the diagram/shape classes are massively under-documented?
