How can I enter RGB or Hex color values for backgrounds in Interface Builder? I can select predefined colors but I would like to manually enter in RGB values. Where can I do this?
I have an app in which I render local HTML files in a UIWebView. The files, however, are sometimes large, and getting to where you want takes a long time with the default scroll speed. Is there any way to boost up the vertical scroll speed of a UIWebView?
I have a UINavigationBar with a title in the middle. I have added a custom font ("Comic_Andy.ttf") to my app (I have checked info.plist to make sure it's listed, and I have checked the Copy Bundle Resources to make sure it has been added), and I would like the title of the UINavigationBar to be displayed in that font. From what I can gather it seems as though I'm supposed to use this in my ViewController:
myNavigationBar.titleTextAttributes = [NSFontAttributeName: UIFont(name: "Comic_Andy", size: 22)]
I placed that method in the viewDidLoad function of the ViewController. I have also tried this in the didFinishLaunchingWithOptions function of the AppDelegate:
UINavigationBar.appearance().titleTextAttributes = [NSFontAttributeName: UIFont(name: "Comic_Andy", size: 22)]
I am programming in Swift, in XCode 6 Beta 6. Many resources regarding this task have mentioned using a method called setTitleTextAttributes, which is nowhere to be seen. I can't figure it out for the life of me - I've probably spent close to 3 hours on it by now - I have checked every StackOverflow answer, every website, so please do not mark this as a duplicate. Many thanks in advance!
During inAppPurchase, the storeKit will ask the username and password
even though i set...
[[UIApplication sharedApplication] setStatusBarOrientation:UIInterfaceOrientationLandscapeRight];
It ask Username and password in Portrait Mode... In general How to solve this kind of issue.
Thanks in advance,
What are all the file formats supported by UIWebView?
In my testing, I found that it supports XLS, DOC, PPT, PDF but not XLSX, and DOCX, RTF.
It supports image files like, JPG, PNG, GIF, BMP, not sure about TIFF or
Exactly, what all types are supported is not clear...
The UIWebView documentation also doesn't state it clearly.
Could someone please help?
I have common functionality that I need to access from all screens of my app: a right bar button item and associated action.
So as not to repeat the code I would like to set this up in a custom UIViewController and have all my view controllers inherit from it.
- (void)viewDidLoad {
UIBarButtonItem *rightBarButton = [[UIBarButtonItem alloc] initWithBarButtonSystemItem:UIBarButtonSystemItemPlay target:self action:@selector(lightsCamera)];
self.navigationItem.rightBarButtonItem = rightBarButton;
}
- (void)lightsCamera {
…
}
However, I have a number of UITableViewControllers however and I would like to know if it is possible for them to inherit the functionality too?
When a UITextField with custom frame (200 × 54 px) loses focus, the text looks a little bit blurry.

Is this a common problem? Any workaround / solution or am I doing something wrong?
I have the following code to create a UIPickerView:
pickerView = [[UIPickerView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0.0f, 416.0f - height, 320.0f, height)];
pickerView.delegate = self;
pickerView.showsSelectionIndicator = YES;
[pickerView setSoundsEnabled:YES];
I would like to change the component widths and change the text size in each component. Is it possible to do this?
Thanks!
I'm fairly new to iPhone programming and am trying to implement a double-component PickerView. At this point the picker works fine in terms of taking user input, created with Interface Builder. However, I need to change the font size to accommodate the text length in each column. I very much would appreciate any link to a straightforward method to creating a multi-component picker with an adjustable font size. Seems like it is not possible if Interface Builder is used to create the picker. So far I have not found any code links that address this issue in detail.
Thanks in advance.
I'm trying link 40 buttons to one event handler method and then do the
processing work from one method instead of 40. I know how to link it
but once I get there I don't know how to distinguish what button was
pressed. Does anyone know how to reference the button object sender id
or is there another way to solve this problem?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I am beginning iPhone application developer, and so I'm not sure how to start the creation of a navigation-controller-based application which uses a tab bar controller in part of it. Do you have suggestions for where to start with this?
I'm having some problem trying to present a modal view controller after it has been presented the first time, so I just start a little test method, it presents, dismisses and presents again the same controller modally.
// This is just test Code.
MYViewController *vc = [[MYViewController alloc] init];
[self presentModalViewController:vc animated:YES];
[self dismissModalViewControllerAnimated:YES];
[self presentModalViewController:vc animated:YES];
I get the error:
2011-11-15 09:50:42.678 Proyecto3[1260:11603] *** Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInvalidArgumentException', reason: 'Application tried to present modally an active controller <RootViewController: 0x6d9d090>.'
The documentation does not add any clue here.
I have a CATiledLayer within a UIView and the UIView also contains a subview.
How can I make sure that the subview is always drawn above the layer?
Most of the time I get the tile layer covering the subview.
I have a UITabBarControllerDelegate method that determines the title of the UITabBarItem and does something accordingly. This works well for items in my UITabBar but when I click on the More button the rest of my UITabBarItems are in a UITableView. How can I determine the title in the More section?
- (void)tabBarController:(UITabBarController *)tabBarController didSelectViewController:(UIViewController *)viewController
{
if ([self.tabBarController.selectedViewController.title isEqualToString:@"All"]) {
//do something
}
}
I am using push scene to get the next scene. But, I read that for each PushScene the scene is stored in stack. The memory usage is more. So, I am using the replaceScene in place of pushScene. But, with replace scene I am getting the memory-bad-access message in debugger.
So, I want to popScene after using it, so that the retain count is zero. But, I am confused in using popScene.
If I have a Scene1 and Scene2. I used the following to go in to Scene2. Now I need to remove Scene1 from stack.
[[CCDirector sharedDirector] pushScene:Scene2];
Where should I write the popScene to popScene1. How to get the previous scene in current running scene ?
Thank you/
I'm building a carArray and want to filter the contents conditionally, using an NSPredicate, like so:
NSPredicate *pred;
switch (carType) {
case FreeCar:
pred = [NSPredicate predicateWithFormat:@"premium = NO"];
break;
case PremiumCar:
pred = [NSPredicate predicateWithFormat:@"premium = YES"];
break;
default:
pred = [NSPredicate predicateWithFormat:@"SOME PREDICATE THAT RETURNS EVERYTHING"];
break;
}
self.carArray = [aCarArrayIGotFromSomewhere filteredArrayUsingPredicate:pred];
My question is, what is the correct syntax for the value I've stubbed in as SOME PREDICATE THAT RETURNS EVERYTHING which returns all of the instances in the array / set?
PS - I know the answer and will post it immediately, just sharing it for everyone's reference as an earlier search on SO did not yield the result.
I have an app that has a username and password field. I want to validate the input before the the user is allowed to stop editing the field. To do that, I'm using the textFieldShouldEndEditing delegate method. If the input doesn't validate I display a UIAlertView.
This approach works as advertised - the user cannot leave the field if the input doesn't validate.
To have the done button on the keyboard dismiss the keyboard, I call resignFirstResponder on the textfield.
The issue I have is the alert is being called twice. How do I keep the alert from showing twice?
In the tableView:accessoryButtonTappedForRowWithIndexPath: selector, I want to update the backgroundColor of the cell.
I can get the UIViewTableCell using cellForRowAtIndexPath: but I'm not sure how I can update its background color. The code beliw doesn't seem to work.
[_tableView beginUpdates];
cell.backgroundColor = [UIColor grayColor];
[_tableView endUpdates];
Any suggestions?
In my application one player and 10 targets are there. Each target appears one after the other (from target1 to target10). It's a shooting game. If we hit the first target then second target will come. The targets have properties like name, speedOfGunDraw, probability to hit the player, speedOfFire.
What should I do to make them appear one after the other with these properties. I am using CCMenuItem for the target. I am using a sprite for the player. Please give me idea to do this.
Thank You.
I have a card (a flashcard you could say)
What I can do:
On fingersweeping over the flashcard the card gets turned. It's happening by detecting
touchesBegan and touchesMoved and then I do stuff like
[UIView beginAnimations:@"View Flip" context:nil];
[UIView setAnimationDuration:0.5];
[UIView setAnimationCurve:UIViewAnimationCurveEaseInOut];
if (left) {
[UIView setAnimationTransition: UIViewAnimationTransitionFlipFromLeft forView:self.flashCardView cache:YES];
}else{
[UIView setAnimationTransition: UIViewAnimationTransitionFlipFromRight forView:self.flashCardView cache:YES];
}
What I can't do (but want to):
I want to somehow drag the flip.
Imagine this, you have a flashcard and you think you know the answer, you start flipping the card around because you want to see if you are correct, but then... no stop... you hesitate, turn back the card to the way it was, rethink, get the real answer and then finally flip to see that you were right to hesitate.
Now I only have: once you start flipping, you can't stop it.
I have a UIBarButtonItem opening an action sheet to offer users choices about what to do. Everything works as expected unless I try to click on the "Cancel" button. The target of the button appears to have moved up from where it should be. I can only activate it by clicking somewhere in the middle of the "Cancel" and "Ok" buttons.
I've tried at action sheets in other applications and they work fine, so it's not just my big thumb. The action sheet is opening in a UIViewController
- (void)showOpenOptions
{
UIActionSheet *sheet = [[UIActionSheet alloc]
initWithTitle:NSLocalizedString(@"Open link in external application?", @"Open in external application")
delegate:self
cancelButtonTitle:NSLocalizedString(@"Cancel", @"Cancel")
destructiveButtonTitle:NSLocalizedString(@"Open Link", @"Open Link")
otherButtonTitles:nil];
[sheet showInView:self.view];
[sheet release];
}
So, I thought consulting you guys about my design, cause I sense there might be a better way of doing it.
I need to implement game bonuses mechanism in my app.
Currently there are 9 bonuses available, each one is based of different param of the MainGame Object.
What I had in mind was at app startup to initialize 9 objects of GameBonus while each one will have different SEL (shouldBonus) which will be responsible for checking if the bonus is valid.
So, every end of game I will just run over the bonuses array and call the isBonusValid() function with the MainGame object(which is different after every game).
How's that sound ?
The only issue I have currently, is that I need to make sure that if some bonuses are accepted some other won't (inner stuff)... any advice how to do that and still maintain generic implementation ?
@interface GameBonus : NSObject {
int bonusId;
NSString* name;
NSString* description;
UIImage* img;
SEL shouldBonus;
}
@implementation GameBonus
-(BOOL) isBonusValid(MainGame*)mainGame
{
[self shouldBonus:mainGame];
}
@end
I know Apple is not the only ressource out there, and many people create great videos in conferences and presentations.
If someone knows a great video or podcast on the topics KVC or KVO, please let me know. I would be glad about it!
Edit: Changed Title so it's more clear this is indeed programming related. KVO / KVC / MVC != KFC
