In sql server how difficult would it be to determine what procedures/functions no longer compile? In other words, if I scripted out alter statements for all procedures and functions in a database, I'd like to know which of these statements are going to fail?
I've been working on cleaning up a database I've inherited which has gone through years of changes and I'd like to what objects are going to raise errors when something tries to execute it.
I have 3 tables in a database:

I have been looking online for a long time trying to find out how in linq and vb.net how i can do a query that has access to both the event and individual table for example showing all the events individual 1 is taking part in ect. i was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction or know of any good tutorial sites with good examples of things similar.
Thanks in advance :)
Luke.
So I have a model that has a field, which originally defaulted to not allow nulls. I want to change it to allow nulls, but syncdb doesn't make the change. Is it as simple as changing it in the database and reflecting it in the models.py file just for the next time its run against a new database?
I'm trying to avoid using an in memory database for testing (though I might have to do this if the following is impossible). I'm using NHibernate 3.0 with LINQ. I'd like to be able to mock session.Query<T>() to return some dummy values but I can't since it's an extension method and these are pretty much impossible to test.
Does anyone have any suggestions (other than using an in memory database) for testing session queries with LINQ?
I have written an R script that pulls some data from a database, performs several operations on it and post the output to a new database.
I would like this script to run every day at a specific time but I can not find any way to do this effectively.
Can anyone recommend a resource I could look at to solve this issue? I am running this script on a Windows machine.
I need to get all rows tha are valid, ValidDate is column that shows how long these database items are valid. I need to get only valid items from the database. How can I do that? I use SQL Server.
I was wondering if there was any recommended max size for MDF and/or LDF Files for an SQL server instance.
For example, if I want to create a 400 GBytes Database, is there a rule to help me decide how many mdf files I should create ? or should I just go ahead and create a single gigantic 400Gbytes mdf file?
If so is this going to somehow affect the database performances ?
I have a list of computers (stored in a database) and I want to find out the localadmins on those computers programmatically so that I can store that information in the database too.
I understand this can be done using powershell. But looking for a way to do the same thing using C#
how do I do that
I don-t know how to use one table from one database and second table from another databse at the same time or copy data from table in one database to table from another databse.

I email out daily sales reports via SQL Server Reporting Services. However, a few users receive on iPhones and the reports don't reload when a new one comes in. It thinks it is the same file as the previous day's report. Is there a way to clear the cache or force a reload?
Hi, I'm currently creating a subscription membership for my website.
I'm storing the date their subscription started in my database using time() (not extra parameters)
If not, how can i find the number of days between the current time() and the time() stored in the database?
Thanks!
Hi Guys,
I am new to web development, I am coding some ASP.NET,
I watched many videos about using LINQ to SQL, I am happy I learned something,
but is it the good way of using is: dragging and dropping and that's done???
what are the best practices to use LINQ to access Database ( my database is not only SQL server..MYSQL..)
Thanks
Basically I am trying to capture the value of the form field before it is saved to the database. Then I intend to use that value in my controller to update a specific field in the database, using @taskforms.update_attribute('notes', $notes)
I need to do this because I know of no other way to update that that does not require the full record to be validated.
My Windows application GUI is accepting some required application configuration fields from the user. I need to store them of course, but I wanna hide these fields from the user.
I cannot use database to store these configs.
I want to avoid using app.config either. (No app.config encryption)
Any suggestions, Where and in which format i should store fields. (Field example is: Accepting database User credentials, Task Schedule info etc.)
I had inherited this SQL Server where we put data in a table (Call TableA) on a database (DB-A). I can see the tableA in another database on the same server ( DB-B) gets the same data right away.
Any ideas how this is implemented? I am trying to see the trace but so far no luck. Any one has an idea?
At this stage I am not sure if its replication. This is a guess
I want to use the built-in membership functionality that comes with the SQL Express database that is created when the project is built but I want to use it in my SQL Server database without having to re-create the wheel so to speak.
I once read somewhere that apps should not copy data while doing an installation but rather all data creation must be done the first time the app is used.
Q1: Does this apply to Windows Mobile apps also?
Q2: Is it not okay then to copy a blank database to the \appdata\product\ folder and populate it when the user uses the app or must I wait for the user to se the app to even create the database.

is it possible to connect to an mysql database and issue queries using c++?
i found some sample code from the internet but they all use mysql! so u need to install mysql first on the computer.
what i want is to use a program from different locations where i don't have mysql installed to access a remote mysql database.
is this possible?
All methods in my php class must connect to the database, so I think it is a good idea to connect to the database in the constructor function (in the first place, to speak so). Is it normal to do so? And how to create a constructor in PHP?
Hello All,
How to Store Large size Images into iPhone Application?
Images are taken from UIImagePickerController but saving into Database and retrieving from
Database crash the application.
I'm looking for a simple DB2 query that can be used to test if a database connection in pool is still valid. It needs to be a generic query that would execute regardless of which databases exist.
For other database servers, I've used something like 'SELECT 1' or 'SELECT version();'
What would be an equivalent for DB2?
Thanks!
Hello. I'm building a mechanism to take XML data from a queue and call stored procs to save the data from the XML document directly to the database. This seems like something that NHibernate could address, but of course most of the information I find discusses going from objects to database instead of another data format (XML, in this case). Is there a way to use NHibernate in this fashion or am I barking up the wrong tree?
Thanks.
