Wanting to dive in to some FOSS contributions using C++ .
Any recommendations? If possible, I would like to keep using Visual Studio if possible. :P
Thanks SO!
How do I tell Eclipse to automatically make suggestions as I type. A Visual Studio Intellisence-like feature with Resharper.
Currently I have to press CTRL+Space each time.
GUID are generated by the combination of numbers and characters with a hyphen.
eg) {7B156C47-05BC-4eb9-900E-89966AD1430D}
In Visual studio, we have the 'Create GUID' tool to create it. I hope the same can be created programmatically through window APIs.
How GUIDs are made to be unique? Why they don't use any special characters like #,^ etc...
Also Is it possible to design our own algorithm to create unique GUIDs?
I can define my custom scope:
[AttributeUsage(AttributeTargets.Property)]
public sealed class SiteScopedSettingAttribute : SettingAttribute
{
}
How do I use it in the Visual Studio Settings editor (make it available in the "Scope" combobox)?
I only want to allow one IP to access this site and want to send all the other users to google.com. How would I go about doing this? I have this at the moment -
AuthName "bla"
AuthType Basic
<LIMIT GET POST>
ORDER DENY,ALLOW
DENY FROM ALL
ALLOW FROM #IP
</LIMIT>
I have several uitextfields within a view and I would like to disable the uibutton until all the fields have something entered into them. What's the best way of doing this?
Ideally, I'd like to do some basic validation (make sure all entries are numbers) too.

I'm an intermediate C developer, trying to get better. I want to make a very basic and lightweight HTTP server with its own scripting language.
Could I use something like Lua for scripting? If not, what?
I don't want to use CGI/FastCGI like Apache does for PHP in most cases, I want my server to natively support my scripting language.
Hi,
I am trying to find a way for our users to very easily upload their outlook contacts into our web application (mysql database).
I'm not sure where to begin. I've seen various tools which are pretty complex. I am open to existing third-party solutions, but my hope is that there is something which is very simple to use or build.
Thanks.
PS: Ideally, it would not involve using visualbasic.
I was wondering if there was a basic tutorial to get me started on coding a FrontRow plug-in / add-on using Xcode.
I searched Google a couple of times, but I haven't found a tutorial on this subject so far.
I have a basic html form that adds some data to the page using PHP. I want to make this form field a "Price" field. My html is:
<input class="bids" name="comment" id="comment" tabindex="4" />
How can I fix this field so that users can't enter random letters, dollar signs, dashes, or other weird formats. I want the output to be whole dollars. Sorry I'm a complete programming moron. :)
Hi,
I have these 3 file in my program:
sample1.h (method in sample1.cpp are defined here)
sample1.cpp (all the actual implementations)
demo.cpp (I am using the methods in sampe1.cpp here, and have included sample1.h)
Now, I am using GDB to debug and I know the basic commands like "break lineno." or "break methodname". But, how do I debug the methods written in sample1.cpp?
I tried: break "sample1.cpp:mymethod" but it did not work.
Thanks
I'm looking into purchasing a netbook for traveling. I realize that most of these machines are designed for surfing the web and checking email. What model(s) are most likely to handle a development environment with Visual Studio 2008?
Conside the following code:
int main()
{
signed char a = 10;
a += a; // Line 5
a = a + a;
return 0;
}
I am getting this warning at Line 5:
d:\codes\operator cast\operator
cast\test.cpp(5) : warning C4244: '+='
: conversion from 'int' to 'signed
char', possible loss of data
Does this mean that += operator makes an implicit cast of the right hand operator to int?
P.S: I am using Visual studio 2005
I'm currently developing a small Database Management System for a local company. How would you go about explaining how the system you have designed to a client? If they are non-technical and have no understanding of programming, how would you go about showing what the system will do and how it will do it? I guess some sort of visual representation of the system but this seems very patronising to me.
I have looked online with mixed results, but is there a way to programmatically extract a zip file on the BB? Very basic my app will display different encrypted file types, and those files are delivered in a zip file. My idea was to have the user browse to the file on their SDCard, select it, and I extract what i need as a stream from the file. is this possible?
I have an ASP.NET 2.0 application, developed in the early days of 2.0. There are almost no comment tags in the application. Is there any tool which can grab all the classes from that application generate a report [in chm or html or pdf] with all the classes and belonging methods, hierarchy of the classes and any kind of visual presentation of the over all flow/relationship/architecture?
Thanks
I have written a small PHP framework and I want to make a website where I explain some basic features.

return $name;
}
I have been experimenting HTML5 canvas by coding basic mind-mapping application. I have tried to find out if there is any javascript API used for managing object in canvas like collision detection between images or shapes.
I think it is not a good idea to write my own since there might be some good API around.
Anyone have clue or some information on this. I would very much appreciate.
Hi ,
my doubt is the following, I have a network with 5 pcs, each machine has XP installed, I don't know much about distributed desktop applications, so what i want is to create a C# application using sql server 2005 database and visual studio 2008. I want that each pc can have access to create/update/delete data on the one XP machine that will store the database files. Do i need WServer2003 or any special network technology??
thanks in advance
I create a query: Select * from HR_Tsalary where month='3' and year ='2010' the result is 473 records and I found 2 duplicate record, then I create another query to find duplicate record only: SELECT Emp_No, COUNT(*) FROM HR_Tsalary WHERE year = '10' AND month = '3'GROUP BY Emp_No HAVING COUNT(*) 1 the result is zero record from client side (thru VisualBasic Adodb code). But when I use same query from server the result is 2 records. Is there any different when create a query between from server side and client side?
Is there a C++ graphing library that can display visual graphs (such as hyperbolas and parabolas and linear equations) based on the equation it is given and that is cross platform? Or am I just asking for too much...
I'm a bit fuzzy on the basic ways in which programmers code differently in C and C++. One thing in particular is the usage of strings in C++ over char arrays, or vice versa. So, should I use strings or char arrays, in general, and why?
