    I have a dropdownlist in gridview and bind grid view from a function in code behind for the dropdownlist. The problem is the dropdownlist is in edittemplate and the selected value is the id in the same celle when the is dropdownlist when the row is not editing. How I can display in editing the null value????

  • HttpHandler and XML files

    Hello, I would like to intercept any request made to the server for XML files. I thought that it might be possible with an HttpHandler. It's coded and it works... on localhost only (?!?!). So, why is it working on localhost only? Here is my web.config <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <configuration> <system.web> <httpHandlers> <add verb="*" path="*.xml" type="FooBar.XmlHandler, FooBar" /> </httpHandlers> </system.web> </configuration> Here is my C# : namespace FooBar { public class XmlHandler : IHttpHandler { public bool IsReusable { get { return false; } } public void ProcessRequest(HttpContext context) { HttpResponse Response = context.Response; Response.Write(xmlString); } } } As you might have seen, I'm writing the xmlString directly in the response, it's only temporary because I'm still wondering how I could give the filename instead (that's the second question ;) ) What is supposed to be written in the response is only the xml filename that will be retrieved by a flash app. Thanks Edit : When calling the page from another computer it looks like it's not getting to the HttpHandler. However, the mapping for IIS have been done correctly.

    I have created a simple BuildProvider as a starting point, and althogh I get no errors, I don't have access to the generated class either. In fact, i don't know if my BuildProvider was even invoked. Is there a way to debug a BuildProvider? How do I know if there is a problem with my CodeDom or if it's something else? Thanks!

    Hi all, I was wondering if anyone knew of any way i can implement an application which will do the following. Allow a user to specifiy a connection string to a sql db Allow a user to specify a table in the db Allow a user to specify columns from the specified table Generate Views & a Controller with Crud methods on the fly for the specified table columns in a subdirectory on the current web app. I'm aware that there are apps that currently do this (such as sharepoints list creation stuff), but i'd like to see how this was accomplished and recreate it for my own learning purposes.     Hello I have a problem with Spark. I have compiled assembly with views, located in bin subfolder of website, that i created like below engine.BatchCompilation(targetFolder, Global.AllKnownDescriptors()); On start of my app, a try to load compiled views: svf.Engine.LoadBatchCompilation(Assembly.LoadFrom(Path.Combine(basePath, "SharedViews.dll"))); When debugging, i can see that this was successfull. But ViewEngine doesn't find that views. It even doesn'n look for them in CompiledViewHolder where they are located. May that problem be caused ny wrong IViewFolder? Or i should do something more to use compiled views? Thanks

  • Should I be relying on WebTests for data validation?

    I have a suite of web tests created for a web service. I use it for testing a particular input method that updates a SQL Database. The web service doesn't have a way to retrieve the data, that's not its purpose, only to update it. I have a validator that validates the response XML that the web service generates for each request. All that works fine. It was suggested by a teammate that I add data validation so that I check the database to see the data after the initial response validator runs and compare it with what was in the input request. We have a number of services and libraries that are separate from the web service I'm testing that I can use to get the data and compare it. The problem is that when I run the web test the data validation always fails even when the request succeeds. I've tried putting the thread to sleep between the response validation and the data validation but to no avail; It always gets the data from before the response validation. I can set a break point and visually see that the data has been updated in the DB, funny thing is when I step through it in debug with the breakpoint it does validate successfully. Before I get too much more into this issue I have to ask; Is this the purpose of web tests? Should I be able to validate data through service calls in this manner or am I asking too much of a web test and the response validation is as far as I should go?

  • Due Date set via EWS is wrong in reminder popup

    I'm having some trouble using EWS with tasks and reminders, specifically, the due date. When I run my code, shown below, the task is added to my exchange account and I can see it fine in outlook. All the data in it looks fine too. However, if I specify to have a reminder for the task, the due date it shows is very wrong. It's usually 17 hours in the future, but the screenshot I've provided shows it being 19 hours in the future. I'm finding it very strange that if I open the task, the due date looks fine, but the reminder is saying it is due well into the future. Any ideas?     Hello friends, I have a formview on my aspx page containing various controls arranged using table. There is a DDL "cboClients" which i need to enable or disabled depending upon role within Edit mode. The problem here is that i am not able to get that control using FindControl() method.   • Error calling webservice using JSONP + jquery with IE on remote domain

    I have a .Net webservice on my app server that returns data formatted as JSONP. I have an HTML test client on that server which works fine using IE, Firefox, & Chrome. If I copy the same HTML to my workstation or deploy to my webserver it works with Firefox & Chrome but in IE I'm getting two javascript errors.     I have a page that displays content retrieved from XML with no problems: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <Root> <Fields> <NamePrompt>??</NamePrompt> </Fields> </Root> Page encoding is set to GB18030 and it displays perfectly. However, when I retrieve inputted text from HttpContext.Current.Request.Form that's been entered with double-byte characters, the retrieved string contains unreadable characters. Single-byte characters are fine, obviously. I've tried the following to no avail: byte[] valueBytes = Encoding.UTF8.GetBytes(HttpContext.Current.Request.Form["fullName"]); string value = Encoding.UTF8.GetString(valueBytes); I don't see this problem with other double-byte languages like Japanese or Korean. How can I successfully retrieve double-byte characters from a page that's GB18030 encoded?

  • Passing PaginatedList to ActionResult MVC C#

    Hi all, I wanted to create a simple paginated search for my project. I'm having trouble with my 'advanced search' page, where I have several textbox inputs that the user would fill with the appropriate data (basically just several filters). My view is strongly-typed with the paginatedList class similar to the NerdDinner tutorial. In my controller, I wanted to pass the PaginatedList as a parameter since my view contains several bits of info from the PaginatedList model. The PaginatedList was null (as parameter), then I changed added the route; the object itself is not null anymore, but the values are. View: <%= Html.TextBox("Manufacturers", Model.Manufacturers) %> <%= Html.TextBox("OtherFilters", Model.FilterX) %> //...etc etc Controller: public ActionResult AdvancedSearchResults(PaginatedList<MyModel> paginatedList) { //... } Any ideas? Am I even going about this correctly? Should I create a ViewModel that encapsulates the paginatedList info as well as the additional info I need instead?

  • How to organize the work when project needs to be re-implemented due to poor code quality?

    Hi, I have joined a very small where one main developer has been buiding the web app (.NET 4.0) during ~6 months. The project should be delivered within next 2 months. After first look at the code I can say that I would never allow it to go to production (things like catch { }, not tests at all with WebForms etc). So the code quality is incredibly low. My task is to improve that and still deliver the solution. So I plan to start with unit testing and MVC2 reimplementing most of the functionality (though using some of the existing code). I estimate that I will need about 6 weeks to catch up with the current progress and be on te same functionality level as the application will be in 6 months. The problem is that the main developer who has been working on the project does not seem to be very 'professional' and skillful (he seems to be really starting in IT and many basic things are unknown to him). It will take significant amount of time and effort to educate him how to do the proper testing, development and apply some patterns. I am ready to take responsibility for the reimplemnting the application but at the same time I don't want the main developer to be on idle but as he won't be able to significantly contribute to the better-world project at this stage I am not sure what would the best way to keep productivity high for both of us. Currently I think following solution is good enough: He proceeds doing what he does until I will catch up with him and then start working on a new project together. The problem is that of course this approach is not very productive as one developer will do better-world project while the other will proceed with what he did, effectively doing similar tasks. Can you suggest how we could better organise the work together in order to be most efficient for the overall project? Thanks, Dmitriy.

In it, they use Castle Windsor for their DI container. One "learning" task I am trying to do is convert this subsystem in this project to use StructureMap. Basically, at Application_Start(), the code news up a Windsor container.
