Please explain syntax rules and scope for "typedef"

What are the rules? OTOH the simple case seems to imply the new type is the last thing on a line. Like here Uchar is the new type. typedef unsigned char Uchar; But a function pointer is completely different. Here the new type is pFunc: typedef int (*pFunc) (int); I can't think of any other examples offhand but I have come across some very confusing usages. So are there rules or are people just suppose to know from experience that this is how it is done because they have seen it done this way before? ALSO: What is the scope of a typedef. What are the best practices for writing maintainable CSS?

I am just starting to explore this area and wonder what are the best practices when it comes to production of clean, well-structured and maintainable CSSes. There seems to be few different approaches to structuring CSS rules. One of the most commonly encountered ones I saw was throwing everything together in one rule, i.e. margins, borders, typefaces, backgrounds, something like this: .my-class { border-top:1px solid #c9d7f1; font-size:1px; font-weight:normal; height:0; position:absolute; top:24px; width:100%; } Another approach I noticed employed grouping of properties, say text-related properties like font-size, typeface, emphasis etc goes into one rule, backgrounds go into other, borders/margins go into yet another one: .my-class { border-top:1px solid #c9d7f1; } .my-class { font-size:1px; font-weight:normal; } .my-class { height:0; top:24px; width:100%; position:absolute; } I guess I am looking for a silver bullet here which I know I am not going to get, bet nevertheless - what are the best practices in this space?

Why does Google Page-Speed say that elements need compressing, when they already are compressed?

Why then, does Page-Speed say that Compressing the following resources with gzip could reduce their transfer size by 118.8KiB (70% reduction). and it gives the page an overall score of 33/100?

highlight search keywords on hover

Do, custom fonts work in UITextView ? I loaded UITextView *textView in cocos2d layer. And I trying to set the font of the text as Copperplate Gothic Bold. I downloaded the font file Coprgtb.TTF. But, the text is not adjusting to this font. The system fonts are working, but the custom fonts are not working ? I added the font file in resources folder. what can I do to make them work ? Thank You.

Inconsistent email formatting with inline css created using Javamail

Okay, so I have a program that sends an email when it is finished running. I use inline css to format the email. This was working up until yesterday however now I am seeing different formats depending on which email account I view the email in. I'm building a pretty basic app, and one thing I want to do is pass an object as a parameter up through the service - async - impl instead of passing up a million separate parameters. so in async, I do something like this: import shared.Profile; ... public interface ProfileServiceAsync { public void addProfile(Profile inProf, AsyncCallback<Void> async); Now, profile is a class in com. ... .shared and I have the following in my ... .gwt.xml <source path='shared'/> That being said when I try to compile I get this error. [ERROR] Errors in 'file:/D:/projects/eclipse/workspace/.../src/com/.../client/ProfileServiceAsync.java' [ERROR] Line 11: No source code is available for type shared.Profile; did you forget to inherit a required module? Any ideas on this?

Can't authenticate mobile client with node.js (using passport.js)

I'm trying to build some CRUD application with node.js as a back-end API (express) and web-app (backbone) and mobile client (native android) as front-ends.(I'm node.js beginner) My server solution is based on the following great tutorial 'easy-node-authentication'. In my android app I have managed to get the user Google-Token after I completed the authentication step with Google Plus SDK.(mobile to google-plus directly request). I'm trying to understand and find right and elegant way to re-use a given google-token and authenticate again my android user through Google-Plus account to ensure the mobile client holds real token, then add a new entry (id, token, email, name) to my users table DB within my node back-end. The question is: what should be my next step in case I want to keep my back-end without changes? should I send a GET request with the token as a cookie to /auth/google? maybe to /auth/google/callback? another URL? Does this make sense at all? Please note: I'm aware to the fact the mentioned above 'easy-node-auth' solution is based on sessions and cookies. having said that, i'm still trying to understand if there is a convenient way to integrate both (android and node) as it works good for my web-app and node. Thanks in advance.

jQuery UI Calendar displays too large, would like the demo size???

So I downloaded a custom themed UI for jQuery and added the calendar control to my sight (Example: link text). In the example it shows/displays the size I would like but on my webpage it's about twice the size. why??? I do have a ton of other CSS but I don't have control over the look and feel of the page (Can't touch current CSS, MEH!!). Is there a way to get the demo look on my site? How to replicate Google "Hangouts On Air" stream combining functionality?

I've been researching this one for quite a bit but haven't found any solid leads. I have a Wowza/Flash app with video chatroom functionality and would like to combine the streams server-side into one video/audio stream in order to be sent to a live Youtube channel. I've found a couple projects such as jMixer and some helpful keywords such as "vision mixer" to help with my search but looking for any previous experience or new ideas. The other option is building something like it myself with a commercial video decoding/encoding library to raw frames, stitching the frames together, then encoding it. I was originally going down this route but put project on hold. What are some ideas, keywords, or existing software (open source preferred) to take those live streams and combine them into one in real-time? Or is coding it myself the required route? Thanks!

I am working on a project in which I have around 100000 addreses in major cities in India(it is a table in a database). I want to know if it is possible to obtain the distances to to nearest landmarks (Mall, Hospital, and Airport etc.). Ideally I want these distances to be mergeed to the parent table. We have Java and Php coders to get it done once we find out how to go about it. Any pointers will be of great help. Thank you.

I'm looking into building a group work app for my final year project next year. One of the core parts is organising group meetings. I plan to make this as powerful as possible and adding a map can help get rid of excuses such as "I didn't know where it was". I have been unable to find any simple solutions to embed maps into my Rails apps so far. An important issue is I need Rails 3 Compatibility. What are your suggestions? Gems, plugins or even something totally different?
