  • Why is my condition onsubmit not returning false?

    - by Liso22
    After asking a couple of questions I managed to create this form. I didn't have troubles making it return false if the submitted value was 0 but I cannot make it return false when it's the string 'Cambia de ciudad". I'm sure I'm messing with the quotes or something like that. This is the form: <form role="search" method="get" action="http://chusmix.com/" onsubmit="if (document.getElementById('s')== 'Cambiá de ciudad") return false;'> <input class="ubicacion" name="s" id="s" tabindex="1" onsubmit="if ((document.getElementById('s').value.length < 4) || (document.getElementById('s')== 'Cambiá de ciudad')) return false;" onfocus="if (this.value=='Cambiá de ciudad') this.value = ''" onblur="if(this.value == '') this.value = 'Cambiá de ciudad'" type="text" maxlength="80" size="28" value="Cambiá de ciudad"> <input type="submit" id="searchsubmit" value="Buscar" /> </form> How do I make it work? Thanks

  • Jquery forms plugin problem

    - by Dudul
    I have the following: $(document).ready(function(){ // bind 'myForm' and provide a simple callback function $('#form').ajaxForm(function() { alert("Works!!!"); }); }); The problem is that when I dynamically add the form to the HTML the script is not working. If the form is there from the beginning the form is submitted with Ajax and works as expected. What is the problem here?

  • Elements added with appendTo() not immediately available

    - by Zip Gun Jim
    I'm having a problem with elements added with appendTo() not being immediately available in the DOM. First, I'm reading some data from a JSON file and then appending some html to a div. jsonUrl = "js/performers.json"; $.getJSON(jsonUrl, function(json) { $.each(json.performers, function(i, performer) { var html = '<div class="performer_mini">'; html += '<img src="' + performer.thumbnail + '" alt="' + performer.name + '" /><br />'; html += performer.name + '<br /></div>'; $(html).appendTo("div#performer_spotlight"); }); }); Then I'm calling a random shuffler plugin to show one of the added divs at a time. $("#performer_spotlight").randomShuffler(".performer_mini", 3000, 3000, 9000); The random shuffler does the following: (function($) { $.fn.randomShuffler = function(shuffledElements, fadeInTime, fadeOutTime, timeout) { fadeInTime = fadeInTime || 3000; fadeOutTime = fadeOutTime || 3000; timeout = timeout || 9000; $(shuffledElements).hide(); var $old_element; var $new_element; var old_index = 0; var new_index = 0; function shuffleElement() { $old_element = $new_element; old_index = new_index; while ($(shuffledElements).length > 0 && old_index == new_index) { // don't display the same element twice in a row new_index = Math.floor(Math.random()*$(shuffledElements).length); } $new_element = $(shuffledElements + ":eq(" + new_index + ")"); if ($old_element != undefined) { $old_element.fadeOut(fadeOutTime, function() { $new_element.fadeIn(fadeInTime); }); } else { $new_element.fadeIn(fadeInTime); } setTimeout(shuffleElement, timeout); } $(this).show(); shuffleElement(); } })(jQuery); The first time the shuffleElement() function is called $(shuffledElements).length equals 0, so no element is displayed. On the next call to shuffleElement(), the elements added with appendTo() are available and one is selected at random as expected. Everything works correctly after that. Is there some way to refresh the DOM or make these elements available to jQuery immediately after I add them with appendTo()? Any other suggestions for how to accomplish this?

  • RaphaelJS HTML5 Library pathIntersection() bug or alternative optimisation (screenshots)

    - by user1236048
    I have a chart generated using RaphaelJS library. It is just on long path: M 50 122 L 63.230769230769226 130 L 76.46153846153845 130 L 89.6923076923077 128 L 102.92307692307692 56 L 116.15384615384615 106 L 129.3846153846154 88 L 142.6153846153846 114 L 155.84615384615384 52 L 169.07692307692307 30 L 182.3076923076923 62 L 195.53846153846152 130 L 208.76923076923077 74 L 222 130 L 235.23076923076923 66 L 248.46153846153845 102 L 261.6923076923077 32 L 274.9230769230769 130 L 288.15384615384613 130 L 301.38461538461536 32 L 314.6153846153846 86 L 327.8461538461538 130 L 341.07692307692304 70 L 354.30769230769226 130 L 367.53846153846155 102 L 380.7692307692308 120 L 394 112 L 407.2307692307692 68 L 420.46153846153845 48 L 433.6923076923077 92 L 446.9230769230769 128 L 460.15384615384613 110 L 473.38461538461536 78 L 486.6153846153846 130 L 499.8461538461538 56 L 513.0769230769231 116 L 526.3076923076923 80 L 539.5384615384614 58 L 552.7692307692307 40 L 566 130 L 579.2307692307692 94 L 592.4615384615385 64 L 605.6923076923076 122 L 618.9230769230769 98 L 632.1538461538461 120 L 645.3846153846154 70 L 658.6153846153845 82 L 671.8461538461538 76 L 685.0769230769231 124 L 698.3076923076923 110 L 711.5384615384615 94 L 724.7692307692307 130 L 738 130 L 751.2307692307692 66 L 764.4615384615385 118 L 777.6923076923076 70 L 790.9230769230769 130 L 804.1538461538461 44 L 817.3846153846154 130 L 830.6153846153845 36 L 843.8461538461538 92 L 857.076923076923 130 L 870.3076923076923 76 L 883.5384615384614 130 L 896.7692307692307 60 L 910 88 Also below these chart I have a jqueryUI slider of the same width (860px) and centered with the chart. I want when I move the slider to move a dot on the chart accordingly with the slider position. See attached screenshot: As you can see it seems to work fine. I've implemented this behaviour using the pathIntersection() method. On the slide event at each ui.value (x coordinate) I intersect my chartPath (the one from above) with a vertical straight line at the x coordinate. But still there are some problems. One of them is that it runs very hard, and it kinda freezes sometimes.. and very weird sometimes it doesn't seem to intersect at all even it should.. I'll example below 2 cases I identified: M 499.8461538461538 0 L 499.8461538461538 140 M 910 0 L 910 140 Could you please explain why this intersect behaviour happens (it should return a dot).. and the worst part it seems like it happens randomly.. if I use another chartdata. Also if you can identify another (better) solution to syncronise the slider position with the dot on the chart.. would be perfect. I thought about using Element.getPointAtLength(length), but I don't know how. I think I should save the pathSegments and for each to compute the start Length and the finish Length.

Any difference? Will I really have to use OO now? As a last resort, does CPS have an alternative?

At the same time the Text div will fade out its content and load the portfolio text. My apologies if this does not make sense, this is all quite new to me and im trying got learn.

  • Cross-browser method for getting width and height of a DIV?

    - by thinkthank
    This is my first post, so please go easy on me. I'm sure I'm doing everything wrong. However, I couldn't find any posts that answered the question above. I use jQuery. I'm trying to find a way to get the current width and height of a DIV element, even if they're set to "auto". I've found many ways to do this, but no method returns the same width in IE. It is important that this method is cross-browser, as it will break the layout of the page if different numbers are returned in different browsers. .width() and .height() do not work because in IE, padding is subtracted (e.g. width() returns 25 where width is 30 and padding is 5). .outerWidth() and .outerHeight() are not consistent either. While they work IE (believe it or not) in FF, the padding is added again to the full width (e.g. outerWidth() returns 110 in FF where width is 100px and padding is 10px). Is there any way out of this mess without writing complex browser checks? Thanks!

  • How to create a new ID for the new added node?

    - by marknt15
    Hi, I can normally get the ID of the default tree nodes but my problem is onCreate then jsTree will add a new node but it doesn't have an ID. My question is how can I add an ID to the newly created tree node? What I'm thinking to do is adding the ID HTML attribute to the newly created tree node but how? I need to get the ID of all of the nodes because it will serve as a reference for the node's respective div storage. HTML code: <div class="demo" id="demo_1"> <ul> <li id="phtml_1" class="file"><a href="#"><ins>&nbsp;</ins>Root node 1</a></li> <li id="phtml_2" class="file"><a href="#"><ins>&nbsp;</ins>Root node 2</a></li> </ul> </div> JS code: $("#demo_1").tree({ ui : { theme_name : "apple" }, callback : { onrename : function (NODE, TREE_OBJ) { alert(TREE_OBJ.get_text(NODE)); alert($(NODE).attr('id')); } } }); Cheers, Mark

  • Add function to existing JQuery plugin

    - by kralco626
    Is it possible to add a function to a plugin without modifying the actual plugin? Can I do something like this in my site's js file? $.fn.Watermark.Refresh = function() { $.Watermark.HideAll(); $.Watermark.ShowAll(); } or (function($){ $.fn.Watermark.Refresh = function() { $.Watermark.HideAll(); $.Watermark.ShowAll(); }; })(jQuery); neither worked, the first says $ is undefined, the second that jQuery is undefined... ideas? Solution: Either method works, just include the jquery file before the site js file.

  • I am using a regex snippet query string path

    - by Shelby Poston
    Using the following to load images base on two ids one is the and bookid and the out is the client. My folder structures is this. root path = flipbooks subfolders under flipbooks are books and clients in subfolder books I have and .net page title tablet. the tablet code behind checks the bookid of client and render a the tablet page with images in a flipbook fashion. because we have over 15000 records and flipbooks already created and stored in the database. I don't move the client folder under the books subfolders. I need the code below to get to the client subfolder in the query string and help to change this would be helpful. The result now is http://www.somewebsite.com/books/client/images/someimage1.jpg[^] I need the results to be http://www.somewebsite.com/client/images/someimage1.jpg[^]. I tried moving the tablet.aspx file to the root flipbooks and it works but i have provide a user name and password each time. This need to be access by the public and my root is protected. Don't want to have to change permission. I am trying to remove the /books function getParameterByName(name) { var results = RegExp('[?&]' + name + '=([^&]*)').exec(window.location.search); return results ? decodeURIComponent(results[1].replace(/\+/g, ' ')) : null; } Thanks Mission Critical

  • Changing background images like this

    - by Azzyh
    If you guys check out this webpage: http://www2.scandvision.se/oresund10/ How have they done this background fade in fade out? When i check the source this <img id="wrapper-background" src="images/body-background-0.jpg" alt="Background" /> and i think theres some kind of script maybe php or js, or both, that every 5 sec changes the background: images/body-background-1.jpg images/body-background-2.jpg images/body-background-3.jpg and so on.. So how did they do this? an example would be great, as i want to learn how to do that. If i was going to do something like this i think i would only manage to do a script in php that randomize everytime you refresh. Thank you, this will expand my knowledge

  • Google Chrome is doing things wrong again

    - by Stefan Liebenberg
    Chrome is wrongly reporting width and height values for images during, or just after, load time. Jquery is used in this code example: <img id='image01' alt='picture that is 145x134' src='/images/picture.jpg' /> <script> var img = $( 'img#image01' ) img.width() // would return 145 in Firefox and 0 in Chrome. img.height() // would return 134 in Firefox and 0 in Chrome. </script> If you put the script in a onload function, the result is the same. but if you run the code a few seconds after the page has loaded, chrome returns the correct result. <script> function example () { var img = $( 'img#image01' ); img.width() // returns 145 in both Firefox and Chrome. img.height() // returns 134 in both Firefox and Chrome. } window.setTimeout( example, 1000 ) </script> Also if you specify the width and height values in the img tag, the script seems to work as expected in both Firefox and Chrome. <img id='image01' src='/images/picture.jpg' width=145 height=134 /> But as you cannot always control the html input, this is not an ideal workaround. Can jQuery be patched with a better workaround for this problem? or will I need to specify the width and height for every image in my code?

  • To trigger everytime with .click()?

  • Backbone collection's URL depends on initialize function

    - by egidra
    I have a Backbone collection whose URL depends on the initialize function. When I create an instance of this Backbone collection, I pass in an ID to filter which instances of the model appear. Here is what the collection's code looks like: var GoalUpdateList = Backbone.Collection.extend({ // Reference the Goal Update model model: GoalUpdate, // Do HTTP requests on this endpoint url: "http://localhost:8000/api/v1/goal_update/?goal__id=" + this.goal_id + "&format=json", // Set the goal ID that the goal update list corresponds to initialize: function(goal_id) { this.goal_id = goal_id; console.log(this.goal_id); console.log(this.url); }, }); Of course, this doesn't work. this.goal_id is seen as being undefined. I guess because the URL is set before the initialization function is run.

  • Durandal Google Maps not showing properly

    - by user1891037
    Trying to show Google Maps using the Durandal. I'm now simply working with Durandal HTML Starter Kit so the other modules and all engine works properly. The thing is when I added the Google Map it doesn't fit the div size (the big part of div is just grey). As I understand, the problem is causing because Google Maps added before page is completely loaded. But I can't figure out how can I hook on page load event. Here is the module code: define(['knockout', 'gmaps'], function (ko, gmaps) { return { displayName: 'Google Maps', myMap: ko.observable({ lat: ko.observable(32), lng: ko.observable(10)}), activate: function () { console.log('activate'); ko.bindingHandlers.map = { init: function (element, valueAccessor, allBindingsAccessor, viewModel) { console.log('init'); var mapObj = ko.utils.unwrapObservable(valueAccessor()); var latLng = new gmaps.LatLng( ko.utils.unwrapObservable(mapObj.lat), ko.utils.unwrapObservable(mapObj.lng)); var mapOptions = { center: latLng, zoom: 5, mapTypeId: gmaps.MapTypeId.ROADMAP}; mapObj.googleMap = new gmaps.Map(element, mapOptions); } } }, attached: function() { console.log('attached'); }, compositionComplete: function() { console.log('compositionComplete'); } }; }); And a very simple HTML code: <section> <div id="gmap-canvas" data-bind="map:myMap"></div> </section> I'm loading Google Maps with async plug-in in my shell.js. It works fine. Screenshot with trouble here - http://clip2net.com/s/ibswAa P.S. div size is defined in .CSS file. P.S. I tried to use getElementById approach provided here and it's work great if placed in compositionComplete block. But when I tried to move my bindings to this block nothing happens at all. Thanks!

  • Problem finding the difference in days between two dates

    - by James
    I have been using a tidy little routine that I found here to calculate the difference in days between two dates in AS3. I am getting some strange results and I am wondering if any of you inter-codal-mega-lords can shed some light? Why is Q1 of 2010 coming up one day short, when in all other cases the routine is performing fine? Many thanks in advance to anyone who can help! function countDays( startDate:Date, endDate:Date ):int { var oneDay:int = 24*60*60*1000; // hours*minutes*seconds*milliseconds var diffDays:int = Math.abs((startDate.getTime() - endDate.getTime())/(oneDay)); return diffDays; } countDays( new Date( 2010, 00, 01 ), new Date( 2011, 00, 01 ) ); // returns 365, which is correct countDays( new Date( 2010, 00, 01 ), new Date( 2010, 03, 01 ) ); // returns 89, which is 1 day short countDays( new Date( 2010, 03, 01 ), new Date( 2010, 06, 01 ) ); // returns 91, which is correct countDays( new Date( 2010, 06, 01 ), new Date( 2010, 09, 01 ) ); // returns 92, which is correct countDays( new Date( 2010, 09, 01 ), new Date( 2011, 00, 01 ) ); // returns 92, which is correct

  • Browser Issue: Charts are not rendered on IE8

    - by Rachel
    We have inhouse library which uses canvas for displaying charts in my application. And dojo as scripting language.Everything is fine, but my charts are not appearing in IE8. I google about this, and found that there is some VML issue in IE8. I found this: var printChart = function(time, freq){ if (!document.namespaces['g_vml_']) { document.namespaces.add('g_vml_', 'urn:schemas-microsoft-com:vml', '#default#VML'); } if (!document.namespaces['g_o_']) { document.namespaces.add('g_o_', 'urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office', '#default#VML'); } if (freq === undefined) { this.freq = "1mi"; } if (time === undefined) { this.time = "1dy"; } self.reload(); } Now I was trying to add this in my DOJO code and that is creating problem. As when I do document.namespace I get firebug error 'document.namespaces is undefined'. Q: How can we fix this, are the any better alternative approaches for the same, basic problem am having is browser related, charts are rendered properly on other browsers but not on IE8, any suggestions ? Update: What are ways to deal with such cross browser issue ?
