Can any one explain how are the concepts of process and threads implemented in Linux kernel ? I am looking for an intuitive explanation with some C snippets ( and important data structures) that clearly distinguishes between the two. I am just looking for the key implementation ideas I should get hold off. Essentially, I want to understand them and implement something similar in an embedded target (not supporte by any OS) in C language.
I've following code, it gives run time error as below... why?
try{
String myPath = DB_PATH + DB_NAME;
mDB = SQLiteDatabase.openDatabase(myPath, null, SQLiteDatabase.OPEN_READONLY);
}catch(SQLiteException e){}
Runtime Error:
:sqlite returned: error code = 1, msg = no such table: android_metadata
:SELECT locale FROM android_metadata failed
:Failed to setLocale() when constructing, closing the database
:android.database.sqlite.SQLiteException: no such table: android_metadata
I have created a TransactionScope and within the scope various items are created and updated in the database. During this process I make a lot of calls to the database. Originally I opened a SqlConnection in the beginning of the TransactionScope and passed it around to any function that made a DB call then I closed the connection after all the calls are made and before the transaction commits. Is it better to do this or to open and close a connection for each call?
I want to do the inverse of this question.
I am embedding a file into an executable as an array, and I would later like to extract the embedded file from the executable.
It seems like objcopy might be useful here but I haven't figured out the proper incantation yet.
(Edit: clarify question, I somehow removed the crux of it in editing originally...)
Hello, newbie here.
i have a local Postgre database which will be filled with data (daily) on my local development machine. What is a good solution to transfer/sync/mirror this data to a production postgre database.
For what it's worth I'm developing in Python using Dajngo.
Thanks!
I am aware that you can generate create scripts to generate database objects, but I am looking a way to generate an update script that compares two different schemas (two mapping files).
That way I can provide my users with easy database updating from any version to the current version.
Thanks!
Hi all, We need to find a way to programatically *link all the tables* in a SQL Server database to an access db. We will be invoking this access database from a program that uses .net/SQL Server 2008.
While invoking the application we would like to add the linked tables so that the users can just run the reports/modules from access without having to worry about linking the tables. Is there a way we can do this?
Thanks!
Hi,
My CrystalReportViewer won't display the charts in my Crystal Report. I get a red X.
I am using C# and MVC. I've read somewehre that I might need a virtual path to the image folder but I am not really sure what that means as my chart is embedded in the report....Maybe I am missing something. Plz can anyone elaborate.
Thanks
Susan
Hi Guys,
In my iPhone app, I have many ASCII arts which I need to insert into the database.
I am using the simulator and pasting the textpic in the textview to insert the ASCII art to database.
Here the clipboard of simulator once pastes the art properly but when I copy another art then too it pastes the previous art into textview.
How to solve this problem?
Is there a work around for this or any better approach?
Please Help and Suggest
Thanks
Hi,
Having an .html file is it possible to force the browser to treat the contents as XHTML? I mean the file opened from both local or web location. Maybe some on-the-fly convertion or something like that?
The background:
Firefox and Opera supports natively MathML when the code is embedded in a XHTML file. I need to get a .html file with MathML that would be supported by the mentioned browsers properly.
Thank you for any support.
I want to have a form on our main member page that they can submit on, and then I want to pass the username and password to the service which will be embedded in an iframe on our site to allow a seamless login.
I want a copy of SQL Server transaction log file for "raw" analysis. What is the safest way to get a copy of that file without shutting down the database and disturbing the existing log/backups/backup schedules and just about everything.
FYI, Its a SQL Server 2000 database server and I can see the log file (its about 4GB in size) and I cannot copy it as is; I get the "access denied" error when copying from explorer or command line.
I'm compiling a C program for a MIPS embedded system.
GCC keeps sticking in stuff like __do_global_dtors_aux, frame_dummy, __do_global_ctors_aux.
How can I avoid that?
I am using JPA and I need to make the "tableName" a variable.
In a database, I have many tables, and my code needs to access the table where I specify it to read.
@Entity
@Table(name = "tableName")
public class Database implements Serializable {...............}
Any ideas?
Is there a way you can open and snoop DLLs? Like, see what functions are inside, etc?
Is there some sort of header in them with tables of functions, information embedded by the maker of the dll, etc? Also, how do you find/view that information?
Thanks!
Russel
Hey, I'm just wondering what code I could use to auto change the size of the video being embedded before it gets displayed.
Example, I need to have it find all instances of this
width="any value" height="any value"
and replace them with this
width="540" height="405"
Hello all.
If I have a frame embedded into a html page. The page connects through http. My question is:
If my frame connects through https is the connection and everything still encrypted despite the fact that the container page connects through http?
While running grails app in 'dev' mode using 'grails run-app', where is the default Tomcat log file located written out by the embedded Tomcat come with Grails (1.2.2) installation?
I am building a django based application and its time to add the DHTML stuff.
One of my fields represent a database field with this format databaseName.tableName.fieldName
I would like to have javascript autocompletion in three levels, say once I type part of the database names I get a list of all matching databases, one that is selected I get a list of all tables, and once that is selected I get a list of all fields in that table, all in the same textfield.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

How do I build a connection string which includes a passsword having a "=" in it? (I'm connecting to MySql 5.1)
For example, let's say the password is "Ge5f8z=6", what would the connection string look like?
I tried:
Server=DBSERV;Database=mydb;UID=myuser;PWD="Ge5f8z=6";
and
Server=DBSERV;Database=mydb;UID=myuser;PWD=Ge5f8z=6;"
Both don't work.
Can anyone recommend a tutorial on how to write a java servlet which connects to ms sql server and manages data?
I'm trying to write something which pulls products out of one database and inserts them into a stored procedure located on another database.
thanks in advance
