  • Dynamic WSDL Location in .NET

    I am building a C# application that is consuming a WSDL that is hosted by a server on our network. When I use the "Add Web Reference" functionality of Visual Studio, it works just fine, saving the ip address of the machine, etc. and the SOAP calls work without any issue. We are now making this entire application portable so that it can be installed in any environment. We would like to place all of our settings in one configuration file, so my question is this: Is it possible to somehow specify the IP address of the machine that is hosting the SOAP service in my configuration file and link everything dynamically at runtime?

  • Form string data url encoded by some browsers .net

    Hi, i came accross with a peculiar issue on my mobile site. some phones/gateways sends form post data as url encoded and a text such as "hey how are you?" in a form with method post stored in the db as "hey+how+are+you%3f" This is not the issue with many browsers but one single network from USA called Metro. I notice different phone models acting same way so i assue this is an issue with proxy/gateway. would simply putting _msg = HttpUtility.UrlDecode(_msg); solve my problem? any other suggestions?   • Sizing issues while adding a .Net UserControl to a TabPage

    I have a complex Windows Forms GUI program that has a lot of automated control generation and manipulation. One thing that I need to be able to do is add a custom UserControl to a newly instatiated TabPage. However, when my code does this I get automatic resizing events that cause the formatting to get ugly. Without detailing all of the different Containers that could possibly be involved, the basic issue is this: At a certain point in the code I create a new tab page: TabPage tempTabPage = new TabPage("A New Tab Page"); Then I set it to a certain size that I want it to maintain: tempTabPage.Width = 1008; tempTabPage.Height = 621; Then I add it to a TabControl: tabControl.TabPages.Add(tempTabPage); Then I create a user control that I want to appear in the newly added TabPage: CustomView customView = new CustomView("A new custom control"); Here is where the problem comes in. At this point both the tempTabPage and the customView are the same size with no padding or margin and they are the size I want them to be. I now try to add this new custom UserControl to the tab page like this: tempTabPage.Controls.Add(customView); When making this call the customView and it's children controls get resized to be larger and so parts of the customView are hidden. Can anyone give me any direction on what to look for or what could be causing this kind of issue? Thanks ahead of time.

I'm looking for a more efficient way of doing this, maybe something more like visual studio itself...because there is NO NEED to highlight all text, set it black, then redo all of the syntaxing, and the text begins to over-right if you go back to insert characters between text. Also, in this version of Python, hash (#) is used for comments on comment only lines and double hash (##) is used for comments on the same line. Now I saw that someone had asked about this exact thing, and the working answer to select to the end of the line was something like: ^\'[^\r\n]+$|''[^\r\n]+$ which I cannot seem to get into practice. I also wanted to select text between quotes and turn it turquoise, such as between the first quotation mark and the second, the text is turquoise, and the same between the 3rd and 4th etcetera... Any help is appreciated!

    I can get the active window's process, but I have no idea how to get the location of that process, as far as I can see the process object only has ProcessName property which just returns like chrome instead of C:\pathtochrome\chrome.exe How can I get the latter because I'm trying to get the process's File Description attribute, but I need the full path to it.

    Hi, I know how you can set an tag's url attribute programmatically in c#, but it seems when I try to access the image element inside of a tag I cannot access it. The is residing in the . NOTE: I am only having this issue inside the Now the ListView tag is also databound.(this is probably why I cannot access, because it isn't guaranteed that it will even exist perhaps). How can I get around this so that I can display my images programmatically or is there a better solution?   • Best way to globally set every control's ValidationGroup property in an asp.net?

    I have a User Control with form items that is re-used considerably throughout a large web application, and up until this point the validation summary upon an invalid form submission is being handled by the .aspx that consumes the User Control. Now I need to set the ValidationGroup property at runtime for each of my form items controls (textboxes, lists, validators, etc). Rather than do it manually by setting each control I'm interested in iterating through all the controls in the User Control, detecting if that control has a ValidationGroup property, and setting it's value that way. Something like this: For Each ctrl As System.Web.UI.Control In Me.Controls ' so now what is the proper way to detect if this control has the ValidationGroup property Next Code sample in vb.net or c# works for me.   • Call .NET Webservice with Android

    Hi, I know this question has been asked here before, but I don't think those answers were adequate for my needs. We have a SOAP webservice that is used for an iPhone application, but it is possible that we need an Android specific version or a proxy of the service, so we have the option to go with either SOAP or JSON. I have a few concerns about both methods: SOAP solution: Is it possible to generate java source code from a WSDL file, if so, will it include some kind of proxy class to invoke the webservice and will it work in the Android environment at all? Google has not provided any SOAP library in Android, so i need to use 3rd party, any suggestion? What about the performance/overhead with parsing and transmitting SOAP xml over the wire versus the JSON solution? JSON solution: There is a few classes in the Android sdk that will let me parse JSON, but does it support generic parsing, like if I want the result to be parsed as a complex type? Or would I need to implement that myself? I have read about 2 libraries before here on Stackoverflow, GSON an Jackson. What is the difference performance and usability (from a developers perspective) wise? Do you guys have any experince with either of those libraries? So i guess the big question is, what method to go with? I hope you can help me out. Thanks in advance :-)

  • .NET Web Service Proxy is adding special characters in XML

    My web service proxy seems to be adding special characters like "*" and "#" etc. within the xml nodes. My proxy created lists using arrays of objects. I am trying to create a generic list and then doing list.ToArray() to set the proxy MyProxyObject[] object. Is this the cause of the problem I am having? I plan on running fiddler on the request later but it is over SSL and I do not have access to the URL at the moment.     I've read lots of tutorials on how to deserialize a JSON object to an object of a particular using DataContractJsonSerializer. However, I'd like to deserialize my object to a Dictionary consisting of either Strings, Arrays or Dictionaries, such as System.Json does with SilverLight when I say JsonObject.Parse(myJSONstring). Is there an equivalent to System.Json that I can use in my WPF project? I recently got an i7 with windows 7 and love it, and this is what I am using to do development on currently. I would love to try out writing a simple App on a mac for either an iPhone or iPad. The question I had was are there any developers using a macbook to do windows based programming as well as writing apps? And what is their setups like? (example: using bootcamp) Most importantly, is it recommended based on the experience they had doing so? any problems / performance issue?   • Where is the windows app installed + .NET + VS2005

    I deployed a windows application in the following website http://StagingServer/MyProgs/MPP/ on my intranet site, using the Publish Wizard of VS 2005... I accepted all defaults (including Offline support). My users were also able to install the same from the path specified. But when I try to find out the exact location of the EXE in the client, it is not pointing anywhere. I also tried a file search but in vain. Initially I thought the application is running from the server itself, but we were able to start the app, even when the server is down (ofcourse it takes more time to search for updates initially). Ps : The app is showing even in control panel... Raja
