  • C# Class Instantiation Overflow

    Scenario I have a C# Win Forms App, where the Main Form contains a loop that creates 3000 Instances of another form (Form B). Inside Form B there are a large number of properties and fields and a bunch of methods that do a fair amount of processing. Question Will the creation of 3000 of these classes give me problems? I'm thinking along the lines of memory exceptions? I've had 1 or 2 already, and I've also had an exception that says something along the lines of "Something went bang and this is usually a sign of corrupt memory somewhere else". Setup I'm using a DevExpress Ribbon Form and I haven't implemented Dispose on anything....Do I need to? Help greatly appreciated.

  • Checkbox vs Two Radio Buttons - Which one is more usable?

    I'm currently working on some setting screens, most of which contain a 2 column form with a preference question on the left, and a form element on the right. The questions are things like: Can add/edit other users? Can delete clients? Obviously this setting is a binary setting and most UI "experts" would insist that a checkbox is the appropriate form element to use. However, when I mocked up the form with the checkboxes it looked unfriendly and it seemed hard to relate the state of the checkbox back to the question. I changed the form to use two radio buttons instead: Yes o No Personally I find this easier to process, as the options are actually answers to the question posed on the left. In terms of clicking it makes no difference to the user, it's a single click each time to change the setting. What do you think of this use of radio buttons? Is this better or worse than a checkbox and why?

    I just tried the Apache Wicket "Hello, world" application and I noticed that in the rendered HTML output, Wicket is exposing it's internal attributes. This is what the rendered HTML looks like in the 'view source' of the browser: <html> <body> <span wicket:id="message" id="message">Hello World!</span> </body> </html> How do I get rid of the wicket:id="message" attribute in the rendered HTML output?

  • Authkit - deferring action to HTTP response to client application

    Form, Redirect and Forward all send an unauthenticated user to a Form on a login page specified within an Authkit middleware application. I'd like to allow a client application to request a service via XHR and then present a custom 'client side' form if a HTTP status code of 401 is returned, which would then post to Authkit for authentication until valid authentication/authorization occured. Specifically, 1) a jquery $.get request might request a resource. 2) if an Authkit cookie check confirmed previous authorization the content would be returned. 3) if not I would like Authkit to simply return the '401 response' (and not redirect to another page, or return a form template) where a client side exception handler would notify the user and present an authentication form. Can Authkit work like this?

    Hi, I'm unable to get the error message to show up when creating a radio form using the CakePHP form helper. This is what I have now. $options=array('active'=>'Active','inactive'=>'Inactive'); echo $form->input('Status', array( 'type' => 'radio', 'id' => 'EntryStatus', 'name' => 'data[Entry][status]', 'options' => $options )); What am I missing? I'm using CakePHP 1.2.7 and this is what I have in the validation 'status' = array( 'notempty' = array( 'rule' = 'notempty', 'required' = true, 'message' = 'yo' ) ) Tried the answer from http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1388823/form-helper-for-creating-radio-button-in-cakephp and it's giving me a select option form instead.   • Do breakpoints introduce delay?

    How is that setting a breakpoint in my code allows the following code to complete which would fail otherwise. Here is the problem. I'm writing an add-on for SAP B1 and encountered following problem. When I load a form I would like to enter some values into the form' matrix. But without a breakpoint (set on a method in which loading a form takes place) the part of code that is executed afterward will fail. That part of code is referencing a matrix that is not yet displayed which results in an exception. This is all clear. But why setting a breakpoint "solves" the problem. What is going on? I suspect that my breakpoint introduces some delay between loading and displaying my form and part of code that references element of that form but I could be wrong.

  • Send asapMail without reloading page using ajax

    Hi, I have a form that posts data to an aspMail file for delivery (works fine in current format), but would like to have the form data sent without having to re-direct to another page. Looks like Ajax is the way to proceed but I'm having a problem getting the setup to work. Here's how I've changed the html: Added: $('#myForm').submit(function() { $.ajax({ data: $(this).serialize(), type: $(this).attr('post'), url: $(this).attr('aspSend.asp'), success: function(response) { $('#created').html(response) } }); }); Changed the form tag from: <form name="myForm" action"aspSend.asp"> to: <form name="myForm"> but now the emails don't arrive!! Any suggestions?

    I'm trying to run some javascript against a UIWebView but it's doesn't seem to be working. For example, here is a snippet of html I'm using to test: <html><body><h1>Hello World!</h1><p>It's me.</p></body></html> If I run the following javascript against it, the return value is 0, when it should be 1. var elements = document.getElementsByTagName("h1"); elements.length; Here's the objc code I'm using for the webview.   • C# WebClient - View source question

    I'm using a C# WebClient to post login details to a page and read the all the results. The page I am trying to load includes flash (which, in the browser, translates into HTML). I'm guessing it's flash to avoid being picked up by search engines??? The flash I am interested in is just text (not an image/video) etc and when I "View Selection Source" in firefox I do actually see the text, within HTML, that I want to see. (Interestingly when I view the source for the whole page I do not see the text, within HTML, that I want to see. Could this be related?) Currently after I have posted my login details, and loaded the HTML back, I see the page which does NOT show the flash HTML (as if I had viewed source for the whole page).     I'm looking to create a Visual Studio 2008 template that will create a basic project and based on remove certain files/folders based on options the user enters. Right now, I have followed some tutorials online which have let me create the form to query the user and pass the data into an IWizard class, but I don't know what to do from there. The tutorials provide a sample to do some simple substitution: code: Form1 form = new Form1(); DialogResult dlg = form.ShowDialog(); if (dlg == DialogResult.OK) { foreach (KeyValuePair<string, string> pair in form.Parameters) { if (!replacementsDictionary.ContainsKey(pair.Key)) replacementsDictionary.Add(pair.Key, pair.Value); else replacementsDictionary[pair.Key] = pair.Value; } } form.Close(); but I'm looking to selectively include files based on the user settings, and if possible, selectively include code sections in a file based on settings. Is there a clever way to do this, or will I manually have to delete project files in the IWizard:ProjectFinishedGenerating()?

    Hi! I want to have a panel, with two columns. The first column will contain a list of beans, and the right one a form panel for editing those beans. What I want to do, is that list height is the same as height of the form panel on the right. My list of beans will be larger and larger over time, so it's height will probably exceed form height. When that happens, there should be a scrollbar showed for the list. I also don't want to set explicit size for list and my form panel (it should be flexible because some time I will add or remove some form fields). I'm basically new to GXT.   • Branching logic in an MVC view

    I find myself writing a lot of code in my views that looks like the code below. In this case, I want to add some explanatory HTML for a novice, and different HTML for an expert user. <% if (ViewData["novice"] != null ) { % some extra HTML for a novice <% } else { % some HTML for an expert <% } % This is presentation logic, so it makes sense that it is in a view vs the controller. However, it gets ugly really fast, especially when ReSharper wants to move all the braces around to make it even uglier (is there a way to turn that off for views?). My question is whether this is proper, or should I branch in the controller to two separate views? If I do two views, I will have a lot of duplicated HTML to maintain. Or should I do two separate views with a shared partial view of the stuff that is in common?

  • C# Custom Control Properties load before Load and arrays are empties

    Hello, I made a custom control with custom properties. When I modify these properties in the "Form.cs [Design]", I need stuff to happens (it fill some arrays and modify the look of the control), so I call a function within the "set" of the property. All of this works good. My problem is that when I run the program with my custom control, it seems that properties "set" is called, which will call the function, but then, my arrays seems now to have lost all their values and the function use these arrays, but now because they are all empty, it crashes due to NullException blahblahblah. It also seems that properties "set" is called before the control Load (which I guess is called only when it is added to my Form, and not when the Form load). So question is, why does my arrays become empty once I try to run the Form and is there an event that is called before that when the Form load? Thanks

    For parsing files i have setup a variable for template.ParseFiles and i currently have to manually set each file. Two things: How would i be able to walk through a main folder and a multitude of subfolders and automatically add them to ParseFiles so i dont have to manually add each file individually?     I have 'div' element (recaptchaDiv) in knockout template which is not bound to any observable field: <div id="recaptchaDiv"></div> On the other hand, I update this 'div' by 3rd party library. In particular, this is google recaptcha. This is my code: Recaptcha.create("[my private key]", "recaptchaDiv", { theme: "clean", callback: Recaptcha.ToTest }); And it doesn't work (I see nothing). What I know: trying on FF console: $("#recaptchaDiv").html() - it shows the expected html code, I just can't see it in the browser What I tried: to move recaptchaDiv outside of the template and it works: I can see the captcha in the browser to bind recaptchaDiv on html property: in the template: <div id="recaptchaDiv" data-bind="html: recaptcha"></div> in the model: Recaptcha.create("[my private key]", "recaptchaDiv", { theme: "clean", callback: Recaptcha.ToTest }); recaptcha($("#recaptchaDiv").html()); and it doesn't work (replacing jquery on document.getElementById doesn't help) Any help will be very much appreciated!!!     I have a standard contacts_controller.rb with index action that responds as follows: respond_to do |format| format.html format.xml { render :xml => @contacts } end In development, it works as intended: when I browse to http://localhost:3000/contacts, I get an html response. But, when I start the app using capistrano on a remote ubuntu server and browse to the same url, I get a xml response? If I go to http://remote_host:8000/contacts.html, then I see the html response. If I comment out the format.xml { render :xml => @contacts }, then I see the desired html response. Pretty sure I'm missing something subtle about difference between rails development and production modes? Any ideas about what I'm overlooking? Thanks, - Dave

    Hello people, http://www.atwebresults.com/php_ajax_image_upload/ I am using this script for so-called AJAX file upload but which is actually based on opening of iframe and then submitting form from it. What my problem is, I am using this script in a form which will have some other fields too. So after uploading the image, when I click submit at the end of the form, the form is submitted to the file which was opened in iFrame. As I am not an expert in JS, can you guys help me with this? I tried changing the action attribute and tried to completely remove the form too, but nothing helped.

    Hi, I would know how i can check that all the controls on the form is created and initialized. I have form i am showing when user presses the 'update' button. It have only TProgressBar control. The handle is not NULL for this control and at random stages it can or can't set the Position/Max values. When i set TProgressBar-Max value to some integer it remains 0 after. So the question is: 1) How to really create the form and all controls on it (i am currently using just Form-Show() method, which as i can check calls the constructor) 2) How to check that all controls on the form is created and PAINTED (showed) Thanks

    I have a problem with my form when I try to submit with ajax. I am using Malsup Form plugin for Jquery but also using tinyMCE editor. When I submit the form and check the $_POST array, there is no data from the textarea. I have tried to use the triggerSave() function but to no avail.     Hello, I want to hide and show some form in my page. For each form theres a link, and i want that, when i click on this link, it hide and show the nearest form of the link. My code looks like this : $$('.flagLink').each(function(s){ $(s).observe('click', function(event) { // here i want to hide and show the nearest form }); }); I've tried this : $$('.flagLink').each(function(s){ $(s).observe('click', function(event) { $(s).next('form').toggle(); }); }); It works but, i would like to be more precise like : $$('.flagLink').each(function(s){ $(s).observe('click', function(event) { $(s).next('.flagForm').toggle(); }); }); but the .flagForm selector doesnt work.
