  • lightbox dynamic image retrieval

    - by GSTAR
    I am constructing a lighbox gallery, currently experimenting with FancyBox (http://fancybox.net) and ColorBox (http://colorpowered.com/colorbox). By default you have to include a link to the large version of the image so that the Lightbox can display it. However, I am wanting to have the image link URLs pointing to a script rather than directly to the image file. So for example, instead of: <a href="mysite/images/myimage.jpg"> I want to do: <a href="mysite/photos/view/abc123"> The above URL points to a function: public function actionPhotos($view) { $photo=Photo::model()->find('name=:name', array(':name'=>$view)); if(!empty($photo)) { $user=$photo->user; $this->renderPartial('_photo', array('user'=>$user, 'photo'=>$photo, true)); } } At some point in the future the function will also update the view count of the image. Now this approach is working to an extent - most images load up but some do not load up (the lightbox gets displayed in a malformed state). I think the reason for this is because it is not processing the function quick enough. For example when I click the "next" button it needs to go to the URL, process the function and retreive/output the response. Does anybody know how I can get this working properly?

  • How to add attributes to a HTML element in a valid way?

    - by Click Upvote
    I want to be able to add an attribute to a HTML element to be able to identify what its referring to. E.g if I have a list of names and a checkbox next to each name, like this: <div id="users"> Bob smith <input type=checkbox /> </div> And when a checkbox is clicked and the event handler function for it is called, I want to be able to identify which user was selected/unselected. Ideally I'm looking for something like this: <input type=checkbox data-userId = "xxx" /> Then when its clicked: function handleClick() { var userId = $(this).attr('data-userId'); } However I'm looking to do this in a way that won't break my HTML validation, and would still be valid HTML and work in all browsers. Any suggestions?

  • How do you make the script wait for the status of an Ajax get request before continuing?

    - by codeninja
    Basically what I'm doing is checking for the existence of an object, if it's not found, the script will try to load the source file using getScript. I only want to check this once though then return true or false to the function that calls fetch() fetch:function(obj){ ... isReady = false; $.getScript(obj.srcFile,function(){ isReady=true; warn("was able to load object "+key); }); return isReady; } but return kicks in before the script loads =/ later the script is loaded but the function returned false. This is the beauty of asynchronous I suppose... What's the best way to handle this... Maybe I could check again at some other point if the object exists? Or maybe there's a better way to do this where I dont have to potentially lock the browser?

  • Adding a comment system to my website

    - by MJ93
    Hey everyone, I'm trying to add some type of comment system to my website for the news that I post on the main page. What I would like it to do is have anybody comment on it (they don't need to login). The comment submission form just required a Name and comment. What would be the simplest way to do this? It would also be nice to have it display how many comments there currently are on the news post. I dont need anything fancy. Thanks!

  • MVC Validator numberOfInvalids not working

    - by user965445
    I dynamically add some elements to a form so I know I need to re-parse the form. Even if I have old invalid elements they don't get identified in numberOfInvalids It always comes back = 0 even though the invalid fields are highlighted on the page. var form = $("#form"); //Form Savingform.submit(function (e) { e.preventDefault(); form.removeData("validator"); form.removeData("unobtrusiveValidation"); $.validator.unobtrusive.parse(form); var val = form.validate(); if (val.numberOfInvalids() == 0) { $.blockUI({ fadeIn: 1000 }); AjaxRequest({ data: $(this).serializeArray(), success: function (data, status, xhr) { alert('sucess save or submit, use "'); }, complete: function () { $.unblockUI(); } }); } });

  • Best way to support large dropdowns

    - by JustAProgrammer
    Say I have a report that can be restricted by specifying some value in a dropdown. This dropdown list references a table with 30,000 records. I don't think this would be feasible to populate a dropdown with! So, what is the best way to provide the user the ability to select a value given this situation? These values do not really have categories and even if I subdivided (by having some nesting dropdown situation) by the first letter of the value, that may still leave a few thousand entries. What's the best way to deal with this?

  • How to stop and remove anythingSlider

    - by d_rail
    I have several sliders on the same page and but don't show all at once. I would like to be able to stop a slider and remove the animation by an event function. As it works right now, if I hide a slider, it still runs in the background, the dom shows the images rotating and the url parameters change. I've seen this question, but it did not work for me: How to stop AnythingSlider when Flowplayer clicked This is also somewhat similar, but I want to remove the slider instead of restarting: AnythingSlider: how to restart slideshow function stopAnythingSlider() { // I receive `TypeError: $(".anythingSlider").data("AnythingSlider") is undefined` // $('.anythingSlider').data('AnythingSlider').startStop(false); }

  • Is there away to load a page only once with AJAX?

    - by digitup
    I have an AJAX call to load a function once the page is loaded, the function opens a lightbox a like frame with some data. The issue is that if I click on close (lightbox frame), the page loads again and again loading the frame so the use never reaches the page under the layer of frame since the frame load on infinite loop. The Ajax is repeating calling the function I guess but I would like to load the frame once and when the user clicks X (close) he may return to the original page. $(document).ready(function(){ var city = $('#citycode').html(); $.ajax({ //when page is loaded, fire the following function success: function(){ //the function to be fired located in the page in seperate file openX(city + //some other parameters); }}); }); Any tips?

  • Clone elements and load previously loaded scripts

    - by kuswantin
    Hi, I am using clone() to move certain elements into another place in the DOM, but had trouble due to the fact that the scripts previously rendered was not available anymore when called from the cloned elements. So I think I need to call them again, but one by one will be a PITA. Perhaps getScript will do, but I have no idea to call more than one. Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks

  • update dialog title for each click

    - by Scarface
    Hey guys I have a quick question, I have a dialog box that has multiple links with different attributes. Each time a link is clicked, the attribute src is printed inside of the dialog box so that each link has a unique output in the dialog. My problem is simply that only the first src title is in every box and I would like to change that as well with each click. I separated the line containing title to show the problem. If anyone has any ideas I would appreciate it. <a class="open" src="something" title="Click to play">link</a> <a class="open" src="something else" title="Click to play">link2</a> $('.open').click(function() { src=$(this).attr('src'); $('#show').html(''+src+''); $(\"#show\").dialog({hide: 'clip', width: 400,height: 150,position: 'center', show: 'clip',stack: true,title: ''+src+'', minHeight: 25, minWidth: 100, autoOpen: false,resizable:false}); $('#show').dialog('open'); })
