  • "Zooming" elements on a page while keeping the centre of enlargement in the centre of the window

    - by Acorn
    I'm trying to work out how to enlarge all elements on a page, but keep the centre of enlargement in the centre of the window. Example Page (up and down arrows to resize the image, you can also drag the image around) On this page, once the image reaches the top or the left side of the window the centre of enlargement changes. It also changes when you move the image. (exactly what you would expect) I'm thinking I'd need to take a completely different approach to achieve what I want. But I'm not sure what that approach is.. Any ideas?

  • HTML5 drag upload in new window

    - by user463604
    I have setup an HTML5 drag and drop upload into my site. The problem that I have is when a user is uploading a large file, they must wait for the upload to finish before navigating and using the rest of the site. So, what I'd like to do is allow the user to drag files to the main site and then have it automatically open a new window and start the upload there so they can still use the rest of the site while the upload is happening. Anyone have and advice on how to accomplish this or if it can even be done?

  • IE7 preventDefault() not working on skip links

    - by josh
    I currently have skip links that jump to the div ids and was using e.preventDefault() to stop the url from changing when jumping to the element but in IE7 and IE8 it doesn't work at all using e.preventDefault() and if I take it out the url changes to the div the anchor tag contains reference to. Is their any fix or way around this? Here is the code $('body').delegate('a.skiplink-accessible-text', 'click', function (e) { //e.preventDefault(); if (!$.browser.msie) { e.preventDefault(); } var jumpTo = $(this).attr('href'); $('body').find(jumpTo).attr('tabindex', - 1).focus(); }); EDIT: heres a little jsbin example for testing purposes http://jsbin.com/welcome/20846/edit

  • Simplify my menu animation code

    - by zaius
    I've got a bunch of 'project' divs that I want to expand when they're clicked on. If there's already a project open, I want to hide it before I slide out the new one. I also want to stop clicks on an already open project from closing and then opening it again. Here's an example of what I mean (warning - wrote the code in the browser): $('.projects').click(function() { var clicked_project = $(this); if (clicked_project.is(':visible')) { clicked_project.height(10).slideUp(); return; } var visible_projects = $('.projects:visible'); if (visible_projects.size() > 0) { visible_projects.height(10).slideUp(function() { clicked_project.slideDown(); }); } else { clicked_project.slideDown(); } }); Really, my big issue is with the second part - it sucks that I have to use that if/else - I should just be able to make the callback run instantly if there aren't any visible_projects. I would think this would be a pretty common task, and I'm sure there's a simplification I'm missing. Any suggestions appreciated!

  • Pulling Data out of an object in Javascript

    - by PerryCS
    I am having a problem retreiving data out of an object passed back from PHP. I've tried many different ways to access this data and none work. In Firebug I see the following... (it looks nicer in Firebug) - I tried to make this look as close to Firebug as possible results Object { data="{"formName":"form3","formData":"data goes here"}", phpLiveDebug="<...s: 198.91.215.227"} data "{"formName":"form3","formData":"data goes here"}" phpLiveDebug "<...s: 198.91.215.227" I can access phpLiveDebug no problem, but the data portion is an object. I have tried the following... success: function(results) { //$("#formName").val(results.data.formName); //$("#formName").val(results.data[0].formName); //$("#formName").val(results.data[0]); //$("#formName").val(results.data[1]); //$("#formName").val(results.data[0]["formName"]); var tmp = results.data[formName]; alert("!" + tmp + "!"); $("#formName").val(tmp); $("#jqueryPHPDebug").val(results.phpLiveDebug); } This line works in the example above... $("#jqueryPHPDebug").val(results.phpLiveDebug); but... I can't figure out how to get at the data inside the results.data portion... as you can see above, I have been trying different things and more not even listed there. I was really hoping this line would work :) var tmp = results.data[formName]; But it doesn't. So, after many days of reading, tinkering, my solution was to re-write it to return data similar to the phpLiveDebug but then I thought... it's gotta be something simple I'm overlooking... Thank you for your time. Please try and explain why my logic (my horrible attempts at trying to figure out the proper method) above is wrong if you can?

  • Ajax to read from form

    - by Edwin
    Hello, I'm writing a store system for my game, it worked quite well until I found out that it only takes the amount of first entered Item. function pbuy(buyitem) { var amountc = "amount-"+buyitem, var amount = $("#"+amountc+"").val(); $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "store2.php", data: "buyitem="+ buyitem+"&amount="+amount, success: function(resp){ document.getElementById('ajaxDiv').innerHTML = resp; }, error: function(e){ alert('Error: ' + e); } }); } I'm trying to give it it the Id of the form like so: function pbuy(buyitem) { var amountc = "amount-"+buyitem, var amount = $("#"+amountc+"").val(); But nothing happens. The code the creation of the forms is: <tr> <td class='items' width='80%' align='center' valign='top'><?PHP echo $itemstore->itemname;?> </td> <td width="20%"> Price:<?PHP echo $itemstore->newprice;?> <form method="post"> <input type='text' id='amount-<?PHP echo $row;?>)' /> <input name="itembid" type="button" onclick="pbuy(<?PHP echo $row;?>)" value="Buy" /></form></td> </tr> If I hardcode the amount in the ajax function it all runs fine like it should.

  • Modifying html of dom element that was created after page loaded

    - by Ben321
    I have two separate AJAX calls. One that gets a list of items from a txt file and creates an HTML table out of them and one that talks to a database to find how much each item costs and then lists this in the corresponding table cell for each item (I know this may sound like a strange approach, but it's a good option in our case...). The issue is that the price is not getting written to the table since the table is created (or to be precise, the rows of the table are created) after the page loads. I'm not sure how to fix this. $(document).ready(function() { makeItemTable(); listPrices(); ... }); function makeItemTable() { $.ajax({ url: 'products.php', type: 'GET' }) .done(function(response) { $('.price-table > tbody').html(response); }) } function listPrices() { .ajax({ url: 'prices.php', type: 'GET' }) .done(function(response) { priceData = $.parseJSON(response); $('.price-table tr').each(function() { var item = $(this).find('td:nth-child(1)').text(); if (priceData[item]) { var price = priceData[item]; $(this).find('td:nth-child(2)').text(price); } }) }

  • slidepanel/hover help

    - by Josh
    I'm trying to create a menu navigation system from the top of the page. I want it so when I hover over the link, it drops down (the link drops down; so it'd be as if there was a whole field being hidden beyond the 0px mark) with the related field. I've gotten it to work, somehow but it still isn't right. A few issues are: when I hover over .drop_slide and then if I choose to close it by hovering back over the .drop_slide it does as it's told, which is "slide, slide". I'm interested in rectifying this issue so it doesn't do that, however I just don't know how. The idea is to have multiple links in the .slide, so I need it to be constantly open while the user mouses over the other links. Should this be created in one field? If so, how would I do that with a drop down in mind? Am I approaching this completely wrong? Lol. Should I be researching into .animate? I've been looking at it actually, but I can't get anything to grow negatively. Say; marginTop: -85px or something. ANY help is appreciated, thanks! $(document).ready(function(){ function slide() { $("#panel").slideToggle("slow"); } $(".drop_slide").hover(slide, stop); $("#panel").hover(stop, slide); });

  • Check if previous clicked value is inside an array

    - by Lelly
    I have a list with different categories. All the list item are clickable. I want the user to pick between 1 and 3 items. They can toggle their choice, but maximum is alway 3. So far, so good. Where it get tricky for me, is that I have some special categories that can't be combined with any others. When a user click on one of these, all the other categories deselect and they can't add any other, (these item have only 1 category selection possible) Exemple: Let's say "Car" is a special category. If they click on Car, everything else deselect, Car is selected, and they can't select anything else. BUT they can click again on Car to deselect it, and from there the logic start over. What's missing in my code is the part in bold just above this. My code: $j('.chooseCat li').on('click',function(){ var $this = $j(this); //list item clicked var catId = $this.children("a").attr("rel"); // list item id var specialCat = ['6','36','63']; if ($this.hasClass("selected")) { $this.removeClass("selected"); $j("#categorySuggestions p.error").hide("fast") } else { if( $j.inArray(catId, specialCat) !== -1 ) { $j('.chooseCat li').removeClass("selected"); $this.addClass("selected"); } else { if ($j('.chooseCat li.selected').length <= 2){ $this.addClass("selected"); } else { $j("#categorySuggestions p.error").show("fast").html("You cannot select any more categories"); } } } }); A working jsFiddle of where Iam at: http://jsfiddle.net/nfQum/9/

  • Opposite of .find()

    - by Ben
    Is there an opposite of .find()? Where $('.myclass').except('#myid'); Would grab all elements with .myclass except the element with #myid. I know I could do $('.myclass[id=myid]') in this example, but seems like it would be helpful in other cases. Thanks

  • How come $(this) is undefined after ajax call

    - by JohnnyQ
    I am doing an ajax request when an anchor tag is clicked with an ID set to href. Btw, this anchor tag is dynamically created. <a href="983" class="commentDeleteLink">delete</a> When the anchor tag is clicked the following code is executed: $('.commentDeleteLink').live('click', function(event) { event.preventDefault(); var result = confirm('Proceed?'); if ( result ) { $.ajax({ url: window.config.AJAX_REQUEST, type: "POST", data: { action : 'DELCOMMENT', comment : $('#commentText').val(), comment_id : $(this).attr('href') }, success: function(result) { alert($(this).attr('href')); //$(this).fadeOut(slow); } }); } }); When I tried to display $(this).attr('href') it says it's "undefined". What I really want to do is fadeOut the anchor tag but when I investigated the value of $(this) it is "undefined". What could be wrong with the snippet above?

  • How to clear a textbox based on a checkbox using Javascript

    - by LoftyWofty
    I am trying to code in javascript (to avoid validation triggers at the server) to clear a text box if the checkbox associated with it is unchecked. I have this code ... <input type="checkbox" id="chkOTHER" onclick="document.getElementById('txtOtherFlag').value='';" /> <asp:TextBox ID="txtOtherFlag" runat="server" AutoPostBack="True" CausesValidation="True" ValidationGroup="ValidationGroup1"></asp:TextBox> The problem is the Javascript inside the checkbox is not triggering to remove the value in the text box. Even if this worked, it's incorrect as it would blank out the text box every time the checkbox is triggered whether it is checked or not. I need to resolve this in the client side only. Thank you
