• Output Flash Trace to Firebug Console

  Hello, I am trying to output my Flash application's trace to the firebug console. After some Goggling I have found that other are doing something like this: public static function debug(text: Dynamic):Void { trace(text); ExternalInterface.call("console.log", text.toString()); } My Firebug console never outputs anything and always just shows "Please Reload Page to enable..." So, of coarse, I have reloaded the page and it does not seem to change anything. I have the correct Object imported into the calling class. I am running FireBug 1.4.2. • Frameset frame cached by Firefox

  Hi, I have a html page which contains nested frameset (don't ask why, I'm only servicing the app ;) ). What bothers me, is why FF caches Header.htm file constantly. I had to use clear cache to force browser to download it again. ctrl+f5 didn't help. <frameset rows="68,*" border="0" frameborder="no" framespacing="0"> <frame name="header" src="/Header.htm" scrolling="no" noresize> <frame name="footer" src="/Login.aspx?w=<% =company %>&amp;loc=<% =ccdom %>"> </frameset> Any ideas what is responsible for that behaviour?   Background I've been reading through various books and articles to learn about processor caches, cache consistency, and memory barriers in the context of concurrent execution. So far though, I have been unable to determine whether a common coding practice of mine is safe in the strictest sense. Assumptions The following pseudo-code is executed on a two-processor machine: int sharedVar = 0; myThread() { print(sharedVar); } main() { sharedVar = 1; spawnThread(myThread); sleep(-1); } main() executes on processor 1 (P1), while myThread() executes on P2. Initially, sharedVar exists in the caches of both P1 and P2 with the initial value of 0 (due to some "warm-up code" that isn't shown above.) Question Strictly speaking – preferably without assuming any particular CPU – is myThread() guaranteed to print 1? With my newfound knowledge of processor caches, it seems entirely possible that at the time of the print() statement, P2 may not have received the invalidation request for sharedVar caused by P1's assignment in main(). • ASP.NET MVC: Triggering an action before posting to Paypal payment gateway

  I'm in the middle of developing an e-commerce site that is using Paypal as it's payment gateway. All I want to do is run some code before the user heads off to Paypal to pay for their order, but I have no idea how to do it. The user should click a submit button, changes are made (in this case, the status of the order), and then the user is redirected to the payment gateway. Eg: [AcceptVerbs(HttpVerbs.Post)] public ActionResult GoToPaypal(FormCollection collection) { //change order status //send user to paypal where they pay for their order } So my question is how do you do application stuff and then redirect to paypal's payment gateway? Example HTML and C# would be lovely :)

• MouseUpEvent stops working while Dragging MovieClip

  There is a mouseUpEvent listener attached to the stage, while dragging the movieClip the mouseUpEvent doesnot trigger the handler somehow the mouseUp gets lost. While the item is being dragged and the mouse is moved away from the movieClip i.e somewhere not on the item but on the stage the mouseUp is detected. Any ideas!!

For example if you place your widgets on high volume websites then each time when someone access that site, a call will be made to your server to get the widget code. This way my server can get too much overloaded just to display the widget . Can I cache the widget HTML code and place it on some server like Akamai. Any suggestions or tips highly appreciated.   We are using Horizontal cluster in our PROD with WAS 6.1 as the Application server. We have enabled dynacache service for some of the JSP fragments using SHARED-PUSH in cachespec.xml file. Now we want to do cache invalidation programmatically..ie. whenever something changes in DB related to cache the cache should get invalidated. so can you please let me know what steps are involved in it to achieve this? any configuration settings at server side or any development changes.

  I would like to create a cacheable HTTP response for a POST request. My actual implementation responses the following for the POST request: HTTP/1.1 201 Created Expires: Sat, 03 Oct 2020 15:33:00 GMT Cache-Control: private,max-age=315360000,no-transform Content-Type: application/x-www-form-urlencoded; charset=UTF-8 Content-Length: 9 ETag: 2120507660800737950 Last-Modified: Wed, 06 Oct 2010 15:33:00 GMT ......... But it looks like that the browsers (Safari, Firefox tested) are not cacheing the response. In the HTTP RFC the corresponding part says: Responses to this method are not cacheable, unless the response includes appropriate Cache-Control or Expires header fields. However, the 303 (See Other) response can be used to direct the user agent to retrieve a cacheable resource. So I think it should be cached. I know I could set a session variable and set a cookie and do a 303 redirect, but I want to cache the response of the POST request. Is there any way to do this? P.S.: I've started with a simple 200 OK, so it does not work. Thanks,

  Hi Everyone, I am slowly getting the hang of Rails and thanks to a few people I now have a basic grasp of the database relations and associations etc. You can see my previous questions here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2714621/rails-database-relationships I have setup my applications models with all of the necessary has_one and has_many :through etc. but when I go to add a kase and choose from a company from the drop down list - it doesnt seem to be assigning the company ID to the kase. • C#: Is it possible to use expressions or functions as keys in a dictionary?

  Would it work to use Expression<Func<T>> or Func<T> as keys in a dictionary? For example to cache the result of heavy calculations. Well, for regular methods it does. But not for lambdas. They get various random method names even if they look the same. Oh well c",)

• How to cache pages using background jobs ?

  Definitions: resource = collection of database records, regeneration = processing these records and outputting the corresponding html Current flow: Receive client request Check for resource in cache If not in cache or cache expired, regenerate Return result The problem is that the regeneration step can tie up a single server process for 10-15 seconds. If a couple of users request the same resource, that could result in a couple of processes regenerating the exact same resource simultaneously, each taking up 10-15 seconds. Wouldn't it be preferrable to have the frontend signal some background process saying "Hey, regenerate this resource for me". But then what would it display to the user? "Rebuilding" is not acceptable. All resources would have to be in cache ahead of time. This could be a problem as the database would almost be duplicated on the filesystem (too big to fit in memory). Is there a way to avoid this? Not ideal, but it seems like the only way out. But then there's one more problem. How to keep the same two processes from requesting the regeneration of a resource at the same time? The background process could be regenerating the resource when a frontend asks for the regeneration of the same resource. I'm using PHP and the Zend Framework just in case someone wants to offer a platform-specific solution. Not that it matters though - I think this problem applies to any language/framework. Thanks!

  I just started using RJS which is awesome however I am used to putting visual effects in the link_to_remote and such and I'm not sure how to trigger actions before and after remotes are triggered.
