  • Why can't I rename a data frame column inside a list?

    - by Moreno Garcia
    I would like to rename some columns from CPU_Usage to the process name before I merge the dataframes in order to make it more legible. names(byProcess[[1]]) # [1] "Time" "CPU_Usage" names(byProcess[1]) # [1] "CcmExec_3344" names(byProcess[[1]][2]) <- names(byProcess[1]) names(byProcess[[1]][2]) # [1] "CPU_Usage" names(byProcess[[1]][2]) <- 'test' names(byProcess[[1]][2]) # [1] "CPU_Usage" lapply(byProcess, names) # $CcmExec_3344 # [1] "Time" "CPU_Usage" # # ... (removed several entries to make it more readable) # # $wrapper_1604 # [1] "Time" "CPU_Usage"

  • NULL pointer comparison fails

    - by Ilya
Hello, I'm initializing in a class a pointer to be NULL. Afterwards I check if it is NULL in the same class. But it's not always 0x0. Sometimes it's 0x8 or 0xfeffffff or 0x3f800000 or 0x80 or other strange stuff. In most case the pointer is 0x0 but sometimes it gets altered somehow. I'm sure that I'm not changing it anywhere in my code. Is there a way it gets changed by "itself"? Here's my code: MeshObject::MeshObject() { mesh.vertexColors = NULL; } MeshObject::MeshObject(const MeshObject &_copyFromMe) { SimpleLog("vertexColors pointer: %p", _copyFromMe.mesh.vertexColors); if (_copyFromMe.mesh.vertexColors != NULL) { SimpleLog("vertexColors"); this->mesh.vertexColors = new tColor4i[_copyFromMe.mesh.vertexCount]; memcpy(this->mesh.vertexColors, _copyFromMe.mesh.vertexColors, _copyFromMe.mesh.vertexCount * sizeof(tColor4i) ); } } My application crashes, because vertexColors wasn't initialized and is being copied. However it is NULL and shouldn't be copied. Thanks.

  • Help With Prolog Lists

    - by BeginnerPro
Hi, Im new to Prolog and was looking for some assistance. What i am trying to do is basically get the some of the list of list, if that makes sense? lol What i am trying to achieve is.... sum([ [1,2],[3,4],[5,6] ]). should return: Number Of Lists: 3 List 1 3 List 2 7 List 3 11....etc I can get the Number of Lists which is fairly simple but im not quite sure how to loop through the List and then for each List add the number up. Am i making this more complicated than it actually is? lol! If anyone can help me or point me in the general direction that would be great. Thanks in advance

  • asp.net drop down list viewstate issue after client side Ajax update

    - by DSharper
In my aspx page I have drop down list that initialy in page load event loads up with list of values which is shown to client(drop down list "A") and in client side, depending on client selecion of another drop down list(drop down list "B") I have written a javascript to update drop down list "A" with corresponding values with Ajax behaviour(without full page postback). But when we post page to the server, in server side page load event shows initialy sent list of values for drop down list "A" but not the values that were loaded by Ajax calls due to ViewState not being updated correctly due to Ajax call. I could fix this easily with update panel but it increased Ajax request size to 44KB which is much higher than what currently is for hand made Ajax script I have written( 0.5KB) Is there special way of fixing this rather than using update panel?

  • iPhone time comparison

    - by Rob
I am trying to figure out how to create an 'if' statement that uses a time value as a condition. For example: if (time <= 10:00) { score = 3; } else if (time <= 20:00) { score = 5; } else { score = 9; } I know that a string of "5:23" cannot be compared this way but I don't think I can just turn a string value like that directly into an integer. Any thoughts?

  • Removing Item From List - during iteration - what's wrong with this idiom ?

    - by monojohnny
As an experiment, I did this: letters=['a','b','c','d','e','f','g','h','i','j','k','l'] for i in letters: letters.remove(i) print letters The last print shows that not all items were removed ? (every other was). IDLE 2.6.2 >>> ================================ RESTART ================================ >>> ['b', 'd', 'f', 'h', 'j', 'l'] >>> What's the explanation for this ? How it could this be re-written to remove every item ?

  • How to compare two lists with duplicated items in one list?

    - by eladc
I need to compare list_a against many others. my problem starts when there's a duplicated item in the other lists (two k's in other_b). my goal is to filter out all the lists with the same items (up to three matching items). list_a = ['j','k','a','7'] other_b = ['k', 'j', 'k', 'q'] other_c = ['k','k','9','k'] >>>filter(lambda x: not x in list_a,other_b) ['q'] I need a way that would return ['k', 'q'], because 'k' appears only once in list_a. comparing list_a and other_c with set() isn't good for my purpose since it will return only one element: k. while I need ['k','9','k'] I hope I was clear enough. Thank you

  • Top n items in a List ( including duplicates )

    - by Krishnan
    Trying to find an efficient way to obtain the top N items in a very large list, possibly containing duplicates. I first tried sorting & slicing, which works. But this seems unnnecessary. You shouldn't need to sort a very large list if you just want the top 20 members. So I wrote a recursive routine which builds the top-n list. This also works, but is very much slower than the non-recursive one! Question: Which is my second routine (elite2) so much slower than elite, and how do I make it faster ? My code is attached below. Thanks. import scala.collection.SeqView import scala.math.min object X { def elite(s: SeqView[Int, List[Int]], k:Int):List[Int] = { s.sorted.reverse.force.slice(0,min(k,s.size)) } def elite2(s: SeqView[Int, List[Int]], k:Int, s2:List[Int]=Nil):List[Int] = { if( k == 0 || s.size == 0) s2.reverse else { val m = s.max val parts = s.force.partition(_==m) val whole = if( parts._1.size > 1) parts._1.tail:::parts._2 else parts._2 elite2( whole.view, k-1, m::s2 ) } } def main(args:Array[String]) = { val N = 1000000/3 val x = List(N to 1 by -1).flatten.map(x=>List(x,x,x)).flatten.view println(elite2(x,20)) println(elite(x,20)) } }

  • Linq List contains specific values.

    - by Raffaeu
I need to know if the List I am working with contains only some specific values. var list = new List<string> { "First", "Second", "Third" }; If I want to know if the List contain at least one item with the value "First" I use the Any keyword: var result = list.Any(l => l == "First"); But how I can write a Linq expression that will return true/false only if the List contains "First" and "Second" values?

  • C# Type comparison

    - by Sean.C
This has me pooped, is there any reason the following: public abstract class aExtension { public abstract bool LoadExtension(Constants c); // method required in inherit public abstract string AppliesToModule // property required in inherit { get; } public abstract string ExtensionName // property required in inherit { get; } public abstract string ExtensionDescription // property required in inherit { get; } } public class UK : aExtension { public override bool LoadExtension(Constants c) { return true; } public override string AppliesToModule { get { return "string"; } } public override string ExtensionName { get { return "string"; } } public override string ExtensionDescription { get { return "string"; } } } would return false for the following expressions: bool a = t.IsAssignableFrom(aExtension)); bool b = t.BaseType.IsAssignableFrom(aExtension)); bool c = typeof(aExtension).IsAssignableFrom(t); bool d = typeof(aExtension).IsAssignableFrom(t.BaseType); bool e = typeof(aExtension).IsSubclassOf(t); bool f = typeof(aExtension).IsSubclassOf(t.BaseType); bool g = t.IsSubclassOf(typeof(aExtension)); bool h = t.BaseType.IsSubclassOf(typeof(LBT.AdMeter.aExtension)); bool i = t.BaseType.Equals(typeof(aExtension)); bool j = typeof(aExtension).Equals(t.BaseType); T is the reflected Type from the calss UK. Stange thing is i do the exact same thing just on an external assembly in the same application and it works as expected...

  • comparison between point and integer

    - by LawVS
    Right, basically I want to add two numbers together. It's for a working hours calculator and I've included parameters for a night shift scenario as an if statement. However, it now mucks up the day shift pattern. So I want to sort out that if the start time is below 12, then it'll revert to the original equation shown in the code instead of the if statement. -(IBAction)done:(id)sender { int result = [finishHours.text intValue] - [startHours.text intValue]; totalHours.text = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%d", result]; if (result < 0) { totalHours.text = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%d", result * -1]; } if (result < 12) { totalHours.text = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%d", result + 24]; } if (startHours < 12) { totalHours.text = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%d", result - 24]; }

  • Sort MySQL result set using comparison between 2 columns of same value type

    - by Kyobul
Hello, I have a table containing last_updated_1 and last_updated_2 columns, used respectively for text and images update time on a post. I wish I could get a result set of 10 rows based on all time last updated records contained in the 2 columns, ex. row 1 = last_updated_1 record, row 2 = last_updated_2 record, row 3 = last_updated_1 record, etc. How could I compare inside a MySQL query the both columns values, to get unique & mixed result set ? Thank you in advance for your help

  • Boolean comparison of array of strings in Ruby

    - by Kyle Kaitan
I've got an array in Ruby that essentially represents a square boolean matrix. Dots represent zeroes, while any other character represents ones. Example: irb(main):044:0> g => [".b", "m."] # This grid has two '1' values and two '0' values. I'd like to perform a specified logical operation (say, OR) on this array with another similar array to get a third result. For example, if h is ["q.", "r."], then something akin to g.perform_or(h) should yield a new array ["qb", "r."]. (The choice of r to represent the result of 'm' || 'r' is arbitrary and not relevant; any other non-'.' character can be there.) How might I do this? Edit: I made an error in my example. Apologies!

  • Comparison of IPEndPoint objects not working

    - by Martin Mizzell
I have an IPEndPoint a and b, whose IPAddress and Port are exactly the same, but the == operator is on the IPEndPoint not returning true. To make things even stranger, I tried to circumvent the problem by simply comparing the IPAddress and Port individually and it is STILL not returning true. Has anyone encountered this before? If so, I am all ears to performant solutions. We have collections of as many as 10k IPEndPoints and are querying into them via LINQ (PLINQ pretty soon).

  • Singly-Linked Lists insert_back and isIncreasing

    - by rezivor
I just finished writing a program that I can add, remove or print objects to a list, but I am having difficulty implementing two more functions that is insert_back, which inserts a value to the end of a list. Also,I have to modify the representation of a List and alter whatever methods are necessary to make insert_back run in constant time: O(1). This new operation should have the signature: void List::insert_back( const Object& data ); Also, isIncreasing, For example, for a list containing head-() (11) (8) (15) (3), isIncreasing() should return false. However, it would return true when working on a list containing head- () (7) (9) (15). This new operation should have the signature: bool List::isIncreasing() const; Thank you

  • Scientific Data processing (Graph comparison and interpretation)

    - by pinkynobrain
Hi stackoverflow friends, I'm trying to write a program to automate one of my more boring and repetitive work tasks. I have some programming experience but none with processing or interpreting large volumes of data so I am seeking your advice (both suggestions of techniques to try and also things to read to learn more about doing this stuff). I have a piece of equipment that monitors an experiment by taking repeated samples and displays the readings on its screen as a graph. The input of experiment can be altered and one of these changes should produce a change in a section of the graph which I currently identify by eye and is what I'm looking for in the experiment. I want to automate it so that a computer looks at a set of results and spots the experiment input that causes the change. I can already extract the results from the machine. Currently they results for a run are in the form of an integer array with the index being the sample number and the corresponding value being the measurement. The overall shape of the graph will be similar for each experiment run. The change I'm looking for will be roughly the same and will occur in approximately the same place every time for the correct experiment input. Unfortunately there are a few gotchas that make this problem more difficult. There is some noise in the measuring process which mean there is some random variation in the measured values between different runs. Although the overall shape of the graph remains the same. The time the experiment takes varies slightly each run causing two effects. First, the a whole graph may be shifted slightly on the x axis relative to another run's graph. Second, individual features may appear slightly wider or narrower in different runs. In both these cases the variation isn't particularly large and you can assume that the only non random variation is caused by the correct input being found. Thank you for your time, Pinky

  • Java synchronizing static list ?

    - by JavaUser
Hi, In a Java class , i am having a static list so this list is shared across all the objects of this class. The business logic in this class will run periodically which is invoked by some method with out passing instance parameters. Now I want to invoke this run method based on the list(I will add some vales into this list based on JMS) ,this list may empty sometimes and after finishing the run , i am emptying this list. Now my question is , whether I need to synchronize this list or not? Also let me know is there any other way to pass value in one object instance(Thread1) to other object instance (Thread2) other than having Static variable(static list)? Thx

  • binary number comparison

    - by EquinoX
If I have a 32 bit two's complement number and I want to know what is the easiest way to know of two numbers are equal... what would be the fastest bitwise operator to know this? I know xor'ing both numbers and check if the results are zero works well... any other one's? how about if a number is greater than 0?? I can check the 31'st bit to see if it's greater or equal to 0..but how about bgtz?

  • String comparison in Java

    - by Kliver Max
I want to compare two strings using Java. First sting name i get from .mif file using GDAL in cp1251 encoding. Second kadname i get from jsp. To compare i do this: if (attrValue instanceof String) { String string3 = new String((attrValue.toString()).getBytes("ISO-8859-1"), "cp1251"); dbFeature.setAttribute(name, string3); System.out.println("Name=" + name); System.out.println("kadname=" + kadname); if (name.equalsIgnoreCase(kadname)) { kadnum = string3; System.out.println("string3" + string3); } } And in console i get this: Name = kadnumm kadname = kadnumm Whats wrong with this?

  • python check value not in unicode list

    - by John
Hi, I have a list and a value and want to check if the value is not in the list. list = [u'first record', u'second record'] value = 'first record' if value not in list: do something however this is not working and I think it has something to do with the list values having a u at the start, how can I fix this? And before someone suggests the list is returned from Django queryset so I can't just take the u out of the code :) Thanks
