    Hi guys, I am here to write a small database application that will be running in desktop (offline mode). I am using MSAccess 2007 as my database file and trying to write code in vb.net. I used to write the code vb6 an usually had global variables for storing database connection and executing every query from that. I am trying to upgrade myself from vb6 to vb.net. do i need to read some more simple starter books also?

  • Should I use "User Defined Functions" in SQL server, or C#?

    I have a fairly complicated mathematical function that I've been advised should be implemented as a User Defined Function in SQL Server so that it can be used efficiently from within a SQL query. The problem is that it must be very efficient as it may be executed thousands of times per second, and I subsequently heard that UDFs are very inefficient. Someone suggested that I could implement the function in C# instead, and that this would be much more efficient. What should I do?

    HI, i have a table, new_id----old_id----created_on 1234------5678------20100912 5678------3456------20100808 etc. i wrote this query, $q = "select event1.new_id, event1.old_id, event1.created_on,event2.new_id, event2.old_id, event2.created_on FROM replaced_isbns event1 JOIN replaced_isbns event2 ON event2.new_id = event1.old_id WHERE event1.new_id='$id'"; but i get result as 5678 - 1234, ie only one row, i want all rows... plz help me.     Is it possible to define a current user? I found a stored procedure 'sp_mgGetConnectedUsers'. It returns a result set with the only unique field 'Address'. How could I associate an executing query with such 'Address'. Please advice. Note: As far as I understand, another way to get the current user is to set a unique application Id for each connection, but I don't like this way much.

  • Create unique links for indvidual elements of a PHP generated table

    I have a table generated from some PHP code that lists a SMALL amount of important information for employees. I want to make it so each row, or at least one element in each row can be clicked on so the user will be redirected to ALL of the information (pulled from MySQL database) related to the employee who was clicked on. I am not sure how would be the best way to go about this, but I am open to suggestions. I would like to stick to PHP and/or JavaScript.     I'm passing query string parameter to .aspx page with 'Ñ' character in value. But Request.QueryString returns some other box '[]' character in return. I think this request encoding issue. and I do not want to use that HttpUtility.UrlDecode and HttpUtility.UrlEncode methods. Does anyone know how to solve this?

    The answer in this post http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2119680/use-jquery-to-check-if-a-url-on-another-domain-is-404-or-not shows how to use YQL in Jquery to check if URL is valid or not. However, I can't get this to work for me. The only difference I can think of is that my URL is a text file (http://mycrossdomain.com/sometext.txt) and not HTML.I think the YQL query needs to be adjusted accordingly. Any help is appreciated.

I'd like to select any number of rows, ordered randomly, as long as the sum of the values in the 'class' field is equal to 100.     I'm trying to create a popup menu, where I can detect the mouse button that was pressed for a given item. I've created a custom QAction already to build my QMenu, but the triggered signal when the menu item is pressed doesn't provide a QMouseEvent for me to query the button pressed. Also, I'm setting the a status tip for each QAction, which appears in the status bar when I mouse over it, but it stays even after I close the QMenu. Is this normal behavior?
