  • ShowDialog won't run

    - by clawson
I've come across a situation where I try to run a simple line of code in a method Dim res As DialogResult = frmOptions.ShowDialog() but nothing happens. The dialog box will not appear. If I run this method from another location in the code it executes fine (i.e. displays the form in dialog mode and code executes fine thereafter). Hence, it may be the way in which I arrive at this code that is causing my problem, but I cannot see to find what is wrong. When I pause the debugger the line of code is highlighted in green but I can't see to step over it or into it. Any idea what may cause this to happen, or what I should be looking for that might be causing the problem?? Thanks for the help!

  • How to draw a full ellipse in a StreamGeometry in WPF?

    - by romkyns
The only method in a StreamGeometryContext that seems related to ellipses is the ArcTo method. Unfortunately it is heavily geared to joining lines rather than drawing ellipses. In particular, the position of the arc is determined by a starting and ending point. For a full ellipse the two coincide obviously, and the exact orientation becomes undefined. So far the best way of drawing an ellipse centered on 100,100 of size 10,10 that I found is like this: using (var ctx = geometry.Open()) { ctx.BeginFigure(new Point(100+5, 100), isFilled: true, isClosed: true); ctx.ArcTo( new Point(100 + 5*Math.Cos(0.01), 100 + 5*Math.Sin(0.01)), // need a small angle but large enough that the ellipse is positioned accurately new Size(10/2, 10/2), // docs say it should be 10,10 but in practice it appears that this should be half the desired width/height... 0, true, SweepDirection.Counterclockwise, true, true); } Which is pretty ugly, and also leaves a small "flat" area (although not visible at normal zoom levels). How else might I draw a full ellipse using StreamGeometryContext?

  • Code to apply expression tree directly to List

    - by Gamma Vega
Is there a method call in Linq that will apply a expression tree directly on a List<V>? For instance, if I have a expression tree that is built on Order type, and i have a collection of List<Order> items on which i need to apply this expression. I am looking something similar to: class OrderListStore : IQueryable<V>, <other interfaces required to implement custom linq provider> { List<Order> orders; public Expression Expression { get { return Expression.Constant(this); } } IEnumerator<V> IEnumerable<V>.GetEnumerator() { //Here I need to have a method that will take the existing expression //and directly apply on list something like this .. Expression.Translate(orders); } } Any help in this regard is highly appreciated.

  • What is the point of JComboBox's getSelectedItem()?

    - by Chris Cooper
I just read the JavaDoc for JComboBox (I promise I have a life... I wasn't reading through for fun. =P), and I think the problems I'm having with my program can be attributed to the getSelectedItem() method. The documentation says: Returns the current selected item. If the combo box is editable, then this value may not have been added to the combo box with addItem, insertItemAt or the data constructors. If you can't get values that were added with those methods or with the constructor, of what use is the method? And how can I get the value from an "editable" JComboBox? • RSpec mocking a nested model in Rails - ActionController problem

    - by emson
Hi All I am having a problem in RSpec when my mock object is asked for a URL by the ActionController. The URL is a Mock one and not a correct resource URL. I am running RSpec 1.3.0 and Rails 2.3.5 Basically I have two models. Where a subject has many notes. class Subject < ActiveRecord::Base validates_presence_of :title has_many :notes end class Note < ActiveRecord::Base validates_presence_of :title belongs_to :subject end My routes.rb file nests these two resources as such: ActionController::Routing::Routes.draw do |map| map.resources :subjects, :has_many => :notes end The NotesController.rb file looks like this: class NotesController < ApplicationController # POST /notes # POST /notes.xml def create @subject = Subject.find(params[:subject_id]) @note = @subject.notes.create!(params[:note]) respond_to do |format| format.html { redirect_to(@subject) } end end end Finally this is my RSpec spec which should simply post my mocked objects to the NotesController and be executed... which it does: it "should create note and redirect to subject without javascript" do # usual rails controller test setup here subject = mock(Subject) Subject.stub(:find).and_return(subject) notes_proxy = mock('association proxy', { "create!" => Note.new }) subject.stub(:notes).and_return(notes_proxy) post :create, :subject_id => subject, :note => { :title => 'note title', :body => 'note body' } end The problem is that when the RSpec post method is called. The NotesController correctly handles the Mock Subject object, and create! the new Note object. However when the NoteController#Create method tries to redirect_to I get the following error: NoMethodError in 'NotesController should create note and redirect to subject without javascript' undefined method `spec_mocks_mock_url' for #<NotesController:0x1034495b8> Now this is caused by a bit of Rails trickery that passes an ActiveRecord object (@subject, in our case, which isn't ActiveRecord but a Mock object), eventually to url_for who passes all the options to the Rails' Routing, which then determines the URL. My question is how can I mock Subject so that the correct options are passed so that I my test passes. I've tried passing in :controller = 'subjects' options but no joy. Is there some other way of doing this? Thanks...

  • Weird Mono compilation error

    - by nubela
Hi, I am using IKVM to get SVNKit on a Mono project I'm working with, I have a class that implements an interface from SVNKit, and I can't compile: On windows and on .NET, everything compiles fine, just getting this on Mono. /home/nubela/Workspace/subsync/subsync/Core/Subversion/PropGetHandler.cs(22,22): Error CS0535: Subsync.Core.Subversion.PropGetHandler' does not implement interface member org.tmatesoft.svn.core.wc.ISVNPropertyHandler.__()' (CS0535) (subsync) I googled _() method, and it seems to be the initializer method for the base class in the Java library compiled from IKVM. I have no clue how to proceed now, any idea guys? :)

  • Multilingual support using gettext with codeigniter, best practice?

    - by tobefound
I know how to create .po files and how to generate .mo files and then use them for translation on my Codeigniter powered site. However, I'm not quite sure on how to change language from the site GUI. I want to stick to codeigniter's default url calling schema: www.domain.com/controllername/method/param1/param2. Calling the server like this is a no-brainer: www.domain.com/controllername?lang=en Doing that for every controller using the default url schema, requires me to implement the same method in every controller, just to pass the lang parameter to the setlocale() function and then bind to my .po domain name. Feels awkward... ANy ideas how you guys work with gettext in codeigniter? And yes, I do want to work with gettext.

  • HttpWebRequest socket operation during WPF binding in a property getter

    - by wpfwannabe
In a property getter of a C# class I am doing a HTTP GET using HttpWebRequest to some https address. WPF's property binding seems to choke on this. If I try to access the property in a simple method e.g. Button_Clicked, it works perfectly. If I use WPF binding to access the same property, the app seems to be blocked on a socket's recv() method indefinitely. Is it a no-no to do this sort of thing during binding? Is app in some special state during binding? Is there an easy way for me to overcome this limitation and still maintain the same basic idea?

  • What are the recommended BEST CASE hardware requirements for TFS 2010

    - by Doug
Hi guys, i have installed TFS 2010 in a 2 server setup with an App Tier server and a SQL Server and am not 100% happy with the performance. Both are running in VM's on SAN disks and have been given the following virtual hardware each: Windows 2008 R2 1 CPU @ 2.8Ghz 2gb RAM what should i lift - neither machine is hammered but both do go up to 80% when people are doing things on them - should i add another CPU to each - usually this is now required in a VMWARE setup but i don't know if TFS 2010 takes advantage of an extra core??? thank you in advance :-)

  • When to use AsyncOperation and AsyncOperationManager

    - by Sir Psycho
Hi, I've spent many many hours tonight reading up on implementing the event-based asynchronous pattern Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find any articles at all on witting a class that only supports one Async invocation. Every example I've seen assumes that a method call will be called more than once and thus, should have a userState object passed into the MethodNameAsync You'll see that MS makes mention of this in the third bullet point on this article http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms228974(VS.80).aspx under the "Simultaneously Executing Operations" heading. But I'm confused. Should I be using AsyncOperation and AsyncOperationManager classes to have asynchronous functionality where a method can only be called by one thread at a time? A link would also be nice :) Thanks

  • ExecutionEngineException thrown when loading native dll in c#

    - by Axarydax
Hi there. I have a 32-bit .net application that uses a native 32-bit DLL via DllImport(). The native DLL is our internal file analysis library, and I need to use it as porting it to C# would be a problem if people update it (other software uses it). The problem is that when I try to execute any method in the native DLL I get a System.ExecutionEngineException thrown. In fact, I've reduced the managed application to a simple tester that just calls a native method, but it still fails. I am on 64-bit Windows 7, but that should not matter as I'm compiling everything as 32-bit binaries. What is also interesting, when I look at the native DLL in the Dependency Walker, it shows that it can't find msvcr90.dll - but when I open any other of our native DLLs in the Dependency Walker, it can find their referenced msvcr90.dll just fine. Can there by some wrongness in the compilation of native DLL that messss up its DLL references?

  • How UIWindow#addSubview can make memory leak?

    - by Jakub
Hello, I started to learn using Instrument, but I cannot figure it out. After I start my application, the UI shows up, I do nothing and after few seconds I can see memory leak detected: When I have a look at the second leak I can see the following stack: When I double click on the cell related to my code I can see that it is pointing to the following line of code: [window addSubview:newPostUIViewController.view]; from the method: - (void)applicationDidFinishLaunching:(UIApplication *)application { //creating view controller newPostUIViewController = [[NewPostUIViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"NewPostView" bundle:nil]; newPostUIViewController.title = @"Post it!"; [window addSubview:newPostUIViewController.view]; // Override point for customization after application launch [window makeKeyAndVisible]; } I wonder, how this can be a reason of a leak? I release newPostUIViewController in the dealloc method of PostItAppDelegate class. Any ideas how this could be explained?

  • Does C# have an equivalent to Scala's structural typing?

    - by Tom Morris
In Scala, I can define structural types as follows: type Pressable { def press(): Unit } This means that I can define a function or method which takes as an argument something that is Pressable, like this: def foo(i: Pressable) { // etc. The object which I pass to this function must have defined for it a method called press() that matches the type signature defined in the type - takes no arguments, returns Unit (Scala's version of void). I can even use the structural type inline: def foo(i: { def press(): Unit }) { // etc. It basically allows the programmer to have all the benefits of duck typing while still having the benefit of compile-time type checking. Does C# have something similar? I've Googled but can't find anything, but I'm not familiar with C# in any depth. If there aren't, are there any plans to add this?

  • How to make and use first object in Objective C to store sender tag

    - by dbonneville
I started with a sample program that simply sets up a UIView with some buttons on it. Works great. I want to access the sender tag from each button and save it. My first thought was to save it to a global variable but I couldn't get it to work right. I thought the best way would be to create an object with one property and synthesize it so I can get or set it as needed. First, I created GlobalGem.h: #import <Foundation/Foundation.h> @interface GlobalGem : NSObject { int gemTag; } @property int gemTag; -(void) print; @end Then I created GlobalGem.m: #import "GlobalGem.h" @implementation GlobalGem @synthesize gemTag; -(void) print { NSLog(@"gemTag value is %i", gemTag); } @end The sample code I worked from doesn't do anything I can see in "main" where the program initializes. They just have their methods and are set up to handle IBOutlet actions. I want to use this object in the IBOutlet methods. But I don't know where to create the object. In the viewDidLoad, I tried this: GlobalGem *aGem = [[GlobalGem alloc]init]; [aGem print]; I added reference to the .h file of course. The print method works. In the nslog I get "gemTag value is 0". But now I want to use the instance aGem in some of the IBOutlet actions. For instance, if I put this same method in one of the outlet actions like this: - (IBAction)touchButton:(id)sender { [aGem print]; } ...I get a build error saying that "aGem is undeclared". Yes, I'm new to objective c and am very confused. Is the instance I created, aGem, in the viewDidLoad not accessible outside of that method? How would I create an instance of a Class that I can store a variable value that any of the IBOutlet methods can access? All the buttons need to be able to store their sender tag in the instance aGem and I'm stuck. As I mentioned earlier, I was able to write the sender tag to a global variable I declared in the UIView .h file that came with the program, but I ran into issues using it. Where am I off?

  • Extending the RoleProvider GetRolesForUser()

    - by Farinha
The GetRolesForUser() method in the RoleProvider takes the user login name and returns the list of roles for that user. But in my application this is not enough, I need a few more pieces of information to be able to get the user's roles. How can I get this extra information into the method? I have it in the Session, but I found out that Session is not available in the RoleProvider. What I had in mind was putting this extra info in some class that extends MembershipUser, assuming I can get to it inside the RoleProvider. But I don't know how to create the CustomMembershipUser and make it part of the MembershipProvider. Is this even possible? The easy way out would be using cookies, but I'm trying to keep away from it.

  • Retrieve input and output parameters for SQL stored procs and functions?

    - by Darth Continent
For a given SQL stored proc or function, I'm trying to obtain its input and output parameters, where applicable, in a Winforms app I'm creating to browse objects and display their parameters and other attributes. So far I've discovered the SQL system function object_definition, which takes a given sysobjects.id and returns the text of that object; also discovered via search this post which describes extracting the parameters in the context of a app using the ADO.NET method DeriveParameters in conjunction with some caching for better performance; and for good measure found some helpful system stored procs from this earlier post on Hidden Features of SQL Server. I'm leaning towards implementing the DeriveParameters method in my C# app, since parsing the output of object_definition seems messy, and I haven't found a hidden feature in that post so far that would do the trick. Is DeriveParameters applicable to both functions and stored procs for purposes of retreiving their parameters, and if so, could someone please provide an example?

  • Unable to understand "A field initializer cannot reference the nonstatic field" Error?

    - by Subhen
Hi, I am getting the error "A field initializer cannot reference the nonstatic field", While My code is as below: Object selectedItem = PageVariables.slectedItemData; MyClass selectedItems = (MyClass)selectedItem; But the same thing works if assign the value at the constructor or in a different method , like below: public partial class MusicPlayer : Page { Object selectedItem = PageVariables.slectedItemData; public MusicPlayer() { InitializeComponent(); MyClass selectedItems = (MyClass)selectedItem; } } I am just trying to understand what is the difference, Why it is looking for a static varaible declaration(in 1st case) while doesn't look for it while in a constructor or a different method!!!

  • Serializing an object into the body of a WCF request using webHttpBinding

    - by Bert
    I have a WCF service exposed with a webHttpBinding endpoint. [OperationContract(IsOneWay = true)] [WebInvoke(Method = "POST", RequestFormat = WebMessageFormat.Json, BodyStyle = WebMessageBodyStyle.Bare, UriTemplate = "/?action=DoSomething&v1={value1}&v2={value2}")] void DoSomething(string value1, string value2, MySimpleObject value3); In theory, if I call this, the first two parameters (value1 & value 2) are taken from the Uri and the final one (value3) should be deserialized from the body of the request. Assuming I am using Json as the RequestFormat, what is the best way of serialising an instance of MySimpleObject into the body of the request before I send it ? This, for instance, does not seem to work : HttpWebRequest sendRequest = (HttpWebRequest)WebRequest.Create(url); sendRequest.ContentType = "application/json"; sendRequest.Method = "POST"; using (var sendRequestStream = sendRequest.GetRequestStream()) { DataContractJsonSerializer jsonSerializer = new DataContractJsonSerializer(typeof(MySimpleObject)); jsonSerializer.WriteObject(sendRequestStream, obj); sendRequestStream.Close(); } sendRequest.GetResponse().Close();

  • SVN directories not showing up in localhost when using WAMP

    - by JsusSalv
Hi: I recently installed WAMP for actual local use. I've worked on live development servers but now am working on localhost. I've managed to get multiple virtual hosts setup on my WAMP/Vista 64-bit box but am having difficulty with directories pulled from SVN. I have four vhosts setup. Two work well and they are not tied to any SVN just yet. I'm also using TortoiseSVN in case it makes any difference. However, the other projects are coming from SVN repositories. When I view these two projects I get the following error: Internal Server Error The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request. Please contact the server administrator, admin@localhost and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error. More information about this error may be available in the server error log. The way I setup the vhosts is as follows: httpd.conf # Multiple Virtual Hosts <VirtualHost 127.0.0.1> ServerName localhost DocumentRoot "C:/wamp/www/" </VirtualHost> <VirtualHost 127.0.1.0> ServerName testone.local DocumentRoot "C:/wamp/www/root/projectone/" </VirtualHost> <VirtualHost 127.0.2.0> ServerName testtwo.local DocumentRoot "C:/wamp/www/root/projecttwo/" </VirtualHost> <VirtualHost 127.0.3.0> ServerName testthree.local DocumentRoot "C:/wamp/www/root/projectthree/" </VirtualHost> <VirtualHost 127.0.3.1> ServerName testfour.local DocumentRoot "C:/wamp/www/root/projectfour/" </VirtualHost> And here's the 'hosts' file: # Localhost 127.0.0.1 localhost ::1 localhost # Project One 127.0.1.0 testone.local # Project Two 127.0.2.0 testtwo.local # Project Three 127.0.3.0 testthree.local # Project Four 127.0.3.1 testfour.local Everything works just fine. So if you want to tell me I'm doing something wrong then by all means point out a few things. But as it stands, it works and I'm content using different IPs and/or named-based vhosts. The problem comes in not being able to see the directories and files in the projects that are tied to an SVN. Whenever I visit http://testxxxx.local I get the error message at the top of this post. Please provide some suggestions. Thank you!

  • Proper way to copy a readonly NSMutableArray

    - by Jon Hull
I have an object with a readonly property that I am trying to implement NSCopying for. It has a mutableArray called "subConditions" (which holds "SubCondition" objects). I have made it readonly because I want callers to be able to change the data in the array, but not the array itself. This worked really well until it was time to write the -copyWithZone: method. After fumbling around a bit, I managed to get something that seems to work. I am not sure if it is the best practice though. Here is a simplified version of my -copyWithZone: method: -(id)copyWithZone:(NSZone*)zone { Condition *copy = [[[self class]allocWithZone:zone]init]; NSArray *copiedArray = [[NSArray alloc]initWithArray:self.subConditions copyItems:YES]; [copy.subConditions setArray:copiedArray]; [copiedArray release]; return copy; } Is this the correct/best way to copy a readonly mutableArray?

  • Android: Getting Error: Conversion to Dalvik format failed

    - by Rupesh C
    I am building an app on android and running into an error and while searching on net, came across your posting on this and changed the eclipse.ini to increase Xms and Xmx params but still this error does not go away. I am using Eclipse IDE for Java with Andrioid SDK 2.1 on Mac OS. Please help or please point me to someone who might know. Btw, this error only happens when i add external jar files (which i need for my project). here are the list of external jar files that i have in my classpath.) // httpclient-4.0.1.jar from apache // httpcore -4.0.1.jarfrom apache // commons-codec-1.3.jar from apache //commons-logging-1.1.1.jar from apache // json_simple-1.1.jar from google Here is the complete error: UNEXPECTED TOP-LEVEL EXCEPTION: java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: already added: Lorg/apache/commons/logging/impl/AvalonLogger; [2010-05-02 21:57:05 - MyApp]     at com.android.dx.dex.file.ClassDefsSection.add(ClassDefsSection.java:123) [2010-05-02 21:57:05 - MyApp]     at com.android.dx.dex.file.DexFile.add(DexFile.java:143) [2010-05-02 21:57:05 - MyApp]     at com.android.dx.command.dexer.Main.processClass(Main.java:301) [2010-05-02 21:57:05 - MyApp]     at com.android.dx.command.dexer.Main.processFileBytes(Main.java:278) [2010-05-02 21:57:05 - MyApp]     at com.android.dx.command.dexer.Main.access$100(Main.java:56) [2010-05-02 21:57:05 - MyApp]     at com.android.dx.command.dexer.Main$1.processFileBytes(Main.java:229) [2010-05-02 21:57:05 - MyApp]     at com.android.dx.cf http://com.android.dx.cf.direct.ClassPathOpener.pro .direct.ClassPathOpener.processArchive(ClassPathOpener.java:244) [2010-05-02 21:57:05 - MyApp]     at com.android.dx.cf.direct.ClassPathOpener.processOne(ClassPathOpener.java:130) [2010-05-02 21:57:05 - MyApp]     at com.android.dx.cf.direct.ClassPathOpener.process(ClassPathOpener.java:108) [2010-05-02 21:57:05 - MyApp]     at com.android.dx.command.dexer.Main.processOne(Main.java:247) [2010-05-02 21:57:05 - MyApp]     at com.android.dx.command.dexer.Main.processAllFiles(Main.java:183) [2010-05-02 21:57:05 - MyApp]     at com.android.dx.command.dexer.Main.run(Main.java:139) [2010-05-02 21:57:05 - MyApp]     at sun.reflect.NativeMethodAccessorImpl.invoke0(Native Method) [2010-05-02 21:57:05 - MyApp]     at sun.reflect.NativeMethodAccessorImpl.invoke(NativeMethodAccessorImpl.java:39) [2010-05-02 21:57:05 - MyApp]     at sun.reflect.DelegatingMethodAccessorImpl.invoke(DelegatingMethodAccessorImpl.java:25) [2010-05-02 21:57:05 - MyApp]     at java.lang.reflect.Method.invoke(Method.java:592) [2010-05-02 21:57:05 - MyApp]     at com.android.ide.eclipse.adt.internal.sdk.DexWrapper.run(Unknown Source) [2010-05-02 21:57:05 - MyApp]     at com.android.ide.eclipse.adt.internal.build.ApkBuilder.executeDx(Unknown Source) [2010-05-02 21:57:05 - MyApp]     at com.android.ide.eclipse.adt.internal.build.ApkBuilder.build(Unknown Source) [2010-05-02 21:57:05 - MyApp]     at org.eclipse.core.internal.events.BuildManager$2.run(BuildManager.java:627) [2010-05-02 21:57:05 - MyApp]     at org.eclipse.core.runtime.SafeRunner.run(SafeRunner.java:42) [2010-05-02 21:57:05 - MyApp]     at org.eclipse.core.internal.events.BuildManager.basicBuild(BuildManager.java:170) [2010-05-02 21:57:05 - MyApp]     at org.eclipse.core.internal.events.BuildManager.basicBuild(BuildManager.java:201) [2010-05-02 21:57:05 - MyApp]     at org.eclipse.core.internal.events.BuildManager$1.run(BuildManager.java:253) [2010-05-02 21:57:05 - MyApp]     at org.eclipse.core.runtime.SafeRunner.run(SafeRunner.java:42) [2010-05-02 21:57:05 - MyApp]     at org.eclipse.core.internal.events.BuildManager.basicBuild(BuildManager.java:256) [2010-05-02 21:57:05 - MyApp]     at org.eclipse.core.internal.events.BuildManager.basicBuildLoop(BuildManager.java:309) [2010-05-02 21:57:05 - MyApp]     at org.eclipse.core.internal.events.BuildManager.build(BuildManager.java:341) [2010-05-02 21:57:05 - MyApp]     at org.eclipse.core.internal.events.AutoBuildJob.doBuild(AutoBuildJob.java:140) [2010-05-02 21:57:05 - MyApp]     at org.eclipse.core.internal.events.AutoBuildJob.run(AutoBuildJob.java:238) [2010-05-02 21:57:05 - MyApp]     at org.eclipse.core.internal.jobs.Worker.run(Worker.java:55) [2010-05-02 21:57:05 - MyApp] 4 errors; aborting [2010-05-02 21:57:05 - MyApp] Conversion to Dalvik format failed with error 1 Thanks, Rupesh

  • Create a mirrored linked list in Java

    - by glacier89
Linked-List: Mirror Consider the following private class for a node of a singly-linked list of integers: private class Node{ public int value; public Node next; } A wrapper-class, called, ListImpl, contains a pointer, called start to the first node of a linked list of Node. Write an instance-method for ListImpl with the signature: public void mirror(); That makes a reversed copy of the linked-list pointed to by start and appends that copy to the end of the list. So, for example the list: start 1 2 3 after a call to mirror, becomes: start 1 2 3 3 2 1 Note: in your answer you do not need to dene the rest of the class for ListImpl just the mirror method.
