• Entity framework error: The conversion of a datetime2 data type to a datetime data

  I know there are a ton of posts about this issue but none of them seem to solve my problem. Here's the scenario: I have a CreateDate DateTime column in my MS SQL Server database User table that is non-nullable and is automatically set using GetDate() method in "Default Value or Binding" setting. I am able to create a User just fine with the standard EF Insert but when I try to update the user, I get this error: The conversion of a datetime2 data type to a datetime data type resulted in an out-of-range value. What is the trick to not having the EF worry about the CreateDate column for updates? I have the StoreGenerationPattern = Identity but that isn't helping. • Asp.Net MVC and ajax async callback execution order

  I have been sorting through this issue all day and hope someone can help pinpoint my problem. I have created a "asynchronous progress callback" type functionality in my app using ajax. When I strip the functionality out into a test application I get the desired results. See image below: Desired Functionality When I tie the functionality into my single page application using the same code I get a sort of blocking issue where all requests are responded to only after the last task has completed. In the test app above all request are responded to in order. The server reports a ("pending") state for all requests until the controller method has completed. Can anyone give me a hint as to what could cause the change in behavior? • HTML 5 offline caching

  I've read the following Mozilla Developer article that explains how to implement HTML 5 offline resource caching in web apps. I've tried testing this locally: added the mime type to the list, created the manifest file, changed my doctype to the HTML 5 doctype, specified the manifest attribute and the correct path on the HTML element--but still I don't see the manifest file being consumed by Firefox at all. I've also checked the access logs on Apache and didn't see any requests for the manifest file being made. Has anyone given it a jab and had any success? I just don't know how to further troubleshoot the issue and would welcome any suggestions.

Joh.* 2. .*An.* 3. .*st.* But, the above retrieves the entire string instead of the values I want. How can I get the correct values? • Actionscrips/Flex4: Display cut-off datapoints differently in LineChart

  Dear Sirs, The issue arises when the user selects a range on the linechart that cuts off datapoints. When this happens, I would like the chart to tell the user somehow that there are data points three, just outside the range, perhaps by drawing a straight line across the top or bottom of the graph. • SQL 05 full-text query fails "Specified module could not be found."

  I'm running SQL 2005 on Windows XP. I have a database table that has full text searching enabled. I was able to build and even re-build the index. However, when I try to query it like this: Select * from fulltext_english WHERE CONTAINS(page_data, 'causes') I get this error: Msg 7619, Level 16, State 1, Line 1 The execution of a full-text query failed. "The specified module could not be found." Did I miss something on the install? Is this a dll issue? I've googled and binged for days and can't find anything similar to this message. Thanks!

• AJAX ModalPopup Pops Behind (Under) Page Content (Negative z-index)

  I am having an issue with the AJAX ModalPopupExtender in version 40412 of the AJAX Control Toolkit (http://ajaxcontroltoolkit.codeplex.com/releases/view/43475). The first time the ModalPopup is made visible it works correctly. The z-index is set to 6001 (and the background Div's z-index is set to 6000) and the Popup appears above everything else. If the cancel button within the ModalPopup is clicked, it also has the correct functionality, the display is set to "none" and the ModalPopup is no longer visible. However, when the Popup is triggered again, the z-index is only set to 2000 which is still visible above everything else, but if it is canceled and triggered again it is set to -2000 which is not visible (the z-index is decreasing by 4000 each time). I'm not sure why this is happening. Any ideas how to fix it? Special circumstances: There are multiple ModalPopup's on the page. All ModalPopups are triggered in code-behind through partial-page postbacks (using the .Show() method) ModalPopupExtenders are within the same UpdatePanels that are displayed as popups

• NSFetchedResultsControllerDelegate in a second view controller (not firing?)

  I am running into an issue similar to the one described here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1319940/nsfetchedresultscontrollerdelegate-not-firing (the delegate for my NSFetchedResultsControllerDelegate are not being called on my second view controller) I can't seem to get the proposed solutions to work. I have a main view that loads information from Core Data just fine, but when it pushes a separate controller (and passes the managed object to it), the delegate methods won't fire. I've read about 'mergeChangesFromContextDidSaveNotification' but I don't understand how to synchronize the two manage objects and/or get the delegate methods to be called. • Creating multiple MFC dialogs through COM, strange behaviour

  One of our apps has a COM interface which will launch a dialog, e.g: STDMETHODIMP CSomeClass::LaunchDialog(BSTR TextToDisplay) { CDialog *pDlg = new CSomeDialog(TextToDisplay); pDlg->BringWindowToTop(); } For some reason when the COM method is called several times at once by the server, we get odd behaviour: We get multiple dialogs, but only one entry in the taskbar Dialog Z-order is based on order created and can't be changed... the first dialog created is always shown under the 2nd one, 2nd under 3rd, etc, even when you drag them around if N dialogs were created, closing one of them closes it and all the others created afterwards. e.g if 5 dialogsa re created and you close the 3rd one, #3,#4,#5 all get closed. It's somehow like the dialogs are siblings but I don't see anything weird going on. Is it perhaps due to COM, or is this a weird MFC/Win32 issue?

• Windows Server 2003 Hacked - Files Being Uploaded

  Blank directories are being created on my Windows Server 2003 virtual server with sub directories that are weird (for example: "88ÿ ÿ ÿÿþþ þþ13þ"). It looks like they are uploading bootlegged DVDs and pirated software. All of my bandwidth and file space is being eaten up. Could this be a shared permissions issue? Where should I look to further investigate this? My security permissions for the directory that is being hit are as followed: Administrators - ALL GRANTED IIS_WPG - Read & Execute, List Folder Contents, Read Internet Guest - DENY SYSTEM - ALL GRANTED Users - Read & Execute, List Folder Contents, Read My Event Viewer is showing many Logon/Logoff with NO IP?

• Text encoding problem between NSImage, NSData, and NSXMLDocument

  I'm attempting to take an NSImage and convert it to a string which I can write in an XML document. My current attempt looks something like this: [xmlDocument setCharacterEncoding: @"US-ASCII"]; NSData* data = [image TIFFRepresentation]; NSString* string = [[NSString alloc] initWithData:data encoding:NSASCIIStringEncoding]; //Put string inside of NSXMLElement, write out NSXMLDocument. Reading back in looks something like this: NSXMLDocument* newXMLDocument = [[NSXMLDocument alloc] initWithData:data options:0 error:outError]; //Here's where it fails. I get: //Error Domain=NSXMLParserErrorDomain Code=9 UserInfo=0x100195310 "Line 7: Char 0x0 out of allowed range" I assume I'm missing something basic. What's up with this encoding issue?

• jQuery not replacing text in ReportViewer

  I'm trying to replace text that I got back in the ReportViewer using jQuery. My div, wrapped in the table cell, display "empty" as text - which I plan on replacing with my own formatted text on the client side. I can use jQuery just fine to set a class on the div (which is inside a td element). Example: jQuery('div:contains("empty")').addClass('replacetext'); But for some reason I cannot do this: jQuery('div:contains("empty")').replaceWith('<div>Hello World</div>'); I tried this out on some other elements on the page and jQuery does work... but it seems like this issue is ReportViewer (I'm using 2008) specific.

• Can I expose only a portion of one .NET DLL's public classes via a different "API" DLL?

  I am designing a WPF application that uses a DLL with maybe 40 public classes. I need these to be public for a variety of reasons including ease of data binding and obfuscation. I would like to allow other people to use only a portion of these classes as an API for my software. I thought I would create the main library (core.dll) and an API library (coreAPI.dll) with the API DLL to be referenced in a new project. Is there a way to allow coreAPI.dll to expose only a few of the classes that exist in core.dll? It's not so much a security issue as I primarily want to simply hide some of the unwanted classes from the Visual Studio Intellisense. Again, internal classes for the ones I want to hide is not really an option because I need to data bind some of these classes in WPF and for that, they must be public. Are there any other ways of doing this?

Can it be done in xml, without java-coding? If I could write something like android:layout_height="match_that_TextView" it would have solved this issue, but it's impossible I guess.

• Flash security popup is unclickable on a layered window

  I have a layered (TransparencyKey is set) winform w/ a WebBrowser control on it that navigates to a page that contains flash (swf). Everything works okay except that when flash shows a security popup, none of the buttons on the popup respond to mouse click, so I can't click Allow/Deny. Right-click works but only shows the context menu that is normal to flash. I tried overriding WndProc on the WebBrowser control, as suggested here, but it still does not respond to mouse click. If I comment out the TransparencyKey setting, even w/o the WndProc override, the buttons respond. I thought this'd be a container issue so I decided to host the swf file on the form, using the example here, but this, too, had the same problem w/ layered window. So, is there another way that can get around this problem? What is it w/ layered window that renders the buttons on the flash popup unclickable? What is it w/ flash...?

• How to jQuery slidedown once page has already been loaded

  I am having a timing issue when attempting to slide down my more info div. My desired functionality is that the div slidesdown from the top once the page has already been rendered. My problem is if I use $(document).ready().. the animation does not visibly occur. Here is my code: $(document).ready(function() { $(".MoreInfo").slideDown('slow'); }); If I strap it to some other element's click for example, it works beautifully. But I am not sure how to make it visibly slide down once the page has loaded. Thanks!

• Deploying 32 and 64 bit COM objects on 64 bit machine from one VS setup project MSI.

  I have a Shell Namespace Extension C++ COM DLL that must have both a 32 bit and 64 bit version installed on a 64 bit machine, because when 32 bit applications perform a file- open the dialog that is presented is a 32 bit shell. The problem is that both my 32 bit and 64 bit COM objects have the same progid and the VS setup project will throw an error when including two files with the same progid. How do I get around this issue if I want to maintain the same code for both 32 and 64 bit? Currently I just have two different MSI's (32 and 64) and they both must be ran on the 64 bit machine.

• Showing Dynamic Content within a Facebook Page

  Hi all, I need to have some content displayed in a Facebook Page (I believe these are also referred to as Business Pages?). However, some of these content will be dynamic. What I mean by that is, some of the content will be taken from an existing web application. I've looked into using Static FBML (which allows us to have tabs in the profile page with FBML in it). These no longer allow iframes. Does work in this instance (as I've not been able to get it to work either). Are there any other tags which can be used for this purpose? In short, is there a way to obtain data from an external source and display those content within a Facebook Page (Tab)? Thank you very much in advance for any light that you can shed on this issue.   I am having an issue with an XPath query I'm performing for a Sitecore CMS system. This query works fine: /root/content/Meta-Data/Tips/* But when I try this: /root/content/Meta-Data/Tips/*[@SomeAttribute='somekey'] I get an error which says "End of string expected at position 22" which is where the dash character is found. I was under the impression that the dash was not a special character in XML... am I doing something wrong here? Do I need to encode this in some way? Or is this a bug in the XPath parser? Any suggested workarounds?

  Hi everyone, im trying to implement some behaviors when a mapview element scrolls... by coding a delegate for the scrollview inside of a mapview. so, right now, i got a pointer to the scroll view used by the map view in my code. however, i wish to set the delegate of this scroll view inside the map view, but the issue is that the mapview already sets up a default delegate for this scroll view inside the map view. can i make my delegate implement all of the messages of the protocol, explicitly sending them to the mapview's default delegate while also implementing my own behaviors? how else can i go about adding my own delegate behavior, to an already existing default delegate....? thanks everyone, michael

• Access COM object through a windows process handle.

  I'm currently automating an application at work using COM, and have an issue where anyone using my application has a problem if the original application is already open when my application runs. I know how to locate the process if it's open, but instead of having to worry about closing it, or working around it, etc., I want to try to use the existing application instead of opening a new one. This is how I normally start the application in my automation program: Designer.Application desApp = new Designer.Application(); Now I'm attempting to try and use the handle from an existing application: Designer.Application desApp = (Designer.Application)((System.Diagnostics.Process.GetProcessesByName("Designer.exe")[0]).Handle) (I know this doesn't work, since .Handle returns an IntPtr, but I'm using it as an example.) Is there any way to accomplish this? How do I return a usable object if I know the handle/process?

  i have a javascript object, obj, that gets passed to an mvc action via a $.post() like so: var obj = { Items: [{ Text: "", Value: { Property1: "", Property2: "" }, { Text: "", Value: { Property1: "", Property2: "" }] }; $.post('MyAction', obj, function() {}); the action signature looks like this: public ActionResult MyAction(FormCollection collection) { } i need to be able to build an object from the FormCollection, however i'm running into an issue where the keys are in the form: "Items[0][Text]" "Items[0][Value][Property1]" "Items[0][Value][Property2]" "Items[1][Text]" "Items[1][Value][Property1]" "Items[1][Value][Property2]" i'm wondering if there's a clean way to build the desired C# object from the given FormCollection. i understand that i could change the action method signature to take in the type of object i'm interested in, but that was presenting its own issues.

  I have a project under which various distributed applications are placed; the whole project is under a single dll. Hence, if any issue occurs we need to re-build the whole application to run or import to our server. I am looking for the best possible way to make the build process faster and also bit worried about the size of the DLL. Is it a good way to have separate dll for all the modules or split the application in multiple projects??? Can, anyone suggest the best way or example to deal with this situation.
