• Added tagging to existing model, now how does its admin work?

  I wanted to add a StackOverflow-style tag input to a blog model of mine. This is a model that has a lot of data already in it. class BlogPost(models.Model): # my blog fields try: tagging.register(BlogPost) except tagging.AlreadyRegistered: pass I thought that was all I needed so I went through my old database of blog posts (this is a newly ported blog) and copied the tags in. It worked and I could display tags and filter by tag. However, I just wrote a new BlogPost and realise there's no tag field there. Reading the documentation (coincidentally, dry enough to be used as an antiperspirant), I found the TagField. Thinking this would just be a manager-style layer over the existing tagging register, I added it. It complained about there not being a Tag column. I'd rather not denormalise on tags just to satisfy create an interface for inputting them. Is there a TagManager class that I can just set on the model? tags = TagManager() # or somesuch

• IIS7 Modules - managed or native?

  Hi all, as the old ISAPI filters are going to die sooner or later, I want to rewrite an old ISAPI filter that was used in IIS 6 into a module for use in IIS 7. The module will be used globally, meaning it will be used within each site, on a Windows Server 2008 R2 with IIS 7.5 installed, that will host several thousand web sites and managing about 50 application pools. My question now is if I should write that module in managed or unmanaged code? One of my concerns regarding managed code is the massive memory consumption due to the .NET framework overhead. I don't know how this would effect the server's performance. I already wrote modules in managed as well as in unmanaged code. So this is not the bothering my decision. But I would prefer to write the module in C# if there are no huge drawbacks. Any suggestions about that issue?

  Hi there, Im using entity framework 1.0 and trying to feed out a Gridview with a objectdatasource that have access to my facade. The problem is, that it seems to be particulary difficult and haven't seen anything that realy do what i want it to do on the internet. For those who know, a gridview feeded with an objectdatasource, it can't sort automaticaly then you must do it manually. It's not that bad. Where it becomes a nightmare, its when we add paging and filter settings to a gridview's datasource. After many hours searching on the internet, i'm asking you, guys, if anyone knows a link that can explain me how to mix Pagging, Sorting and filtering for a gridview and an objectdatasource! • How to recognise vehicle licence / number plate (ANPR) from an image?

  Hi all, I have a web site that allows users to upload images of cars and I would like to put a privacy filter in place to detect registration plates on the vehicle and blur them. The blurring is not a problem but is there a library or component (open source preferred) that will help with finding a licence within a photo? Caveats; I know nothing is perfect and image recognition of this type will provide false positive and negatives. I appreciate that we could ask the user to select the area to blur and we will do this as well, but the question is specifically about finding that data programmatically; so answers such as 'get a person to check every image' is not helpful. This software method is called 'Automatic Number Plate Recognition' in the UK but I cannot see any implementations of it as libraries. Any language is great although .Net is preferred. • Can you use the PackageMaker command to create an installer from a list of files?

  I want to (periodically and automatically) create an installer from various files and folders that are in many places. But, I can't figure out how to supply the packagemaker command with all the paths of the items I want to install. This is for internal development purposes, not for customer distribution. I want the files included to be configureable; it's not really an option to use the GUI to add all the paths because they will change frequently. The best I could do was to use the --watch flag and touch all of the stuff I wanted included in the package. This is very messy and includes other files that happen to be accessed at the same time. There isn't a common scheme to what I want to include, so I can't just --filter the rest out. Is there a better way? Am I missing the point?

• Using django-haystack, how do I perform a search with only partial terms?

  I've got a Haystack/xapian search index for django.contrib.auth.models.User. The template is simply {{object.get_full_name}} as I intend for a user to type in a name and be able to search for it. My issue is this: if I search, say, Sri (my full first name) I come up with a result for the user object pertaining to my name. However, if I search Sri Ragh - that is, my full name, and part of my last name, I get no results. How can I set Haystack up so that I can get the appropriate results for partial queries? (I essentially want it to search *Sri Ragh*, but I don't know if wildcards would actually do the trick, or how to implement them). This is my search query: results = SearchQuerySet().filter(content='Sri Ragh')

• How to get window opened/closed/minimized messages from a native app?

  It's tough to write a good title for this one. I'm working on a WPF application which needs to know about the existence of all other open windows on the system. I'm able to do this by calling the native EnumWindows method just fine, and I can call other native methods to filter out just the windows I'm interested in. This works well. The problem I'm having is that I want to know when a window is opened or closed (and, ideally, minimized). I can do this by polling with EnumWindows, but I'm finding that to be pretty slow, even if I push it off to another thread. Is there a better way to get notifications of window opened/closed/minimized? Keep in mind that my knowledge of non-managed code is pretty limited.

  Im trying to dynamically create a method chain in one attribute in my model. By now I have this function: def create_filtered_attribute(attribute_name) alias_attribute "#{attribute_name}_without_filter", attribute_name define_method "#{attribute_name}" do filter_words(self.send("#{attribute_name}_without_filter")) end end so I receive a string with the attribute name, alias it for '*_without_filter*' (alias_method or alias_method_chain fails here, because the attribute isnt there when the class is created), and I create a new method with the attribute name, where I filter its contents. But somehow, when I call *"#{attribute_name}_without_filter"* it calls my new method (i think because the alias_attribute some how), and the program goes into a stack loop. Can someone please enlighten me on this.

• How to continuously fade a BitmapData to a certain color?

  I'm drawing stuff on a bitmapData and I need to continuously fade every pixel to 0x808080 while still drawing (its for a DisplacementMapFilter)... I think this illustrates my problem: http://www.ventdaval.com/lab/grey.swf The simpler approach I tried was drawing a semi-transparent grey box on it, but it never reaches a single color (i.e. 0x808081 will never be turned to 0x808080)... The same kind of thing happens with a ColorMatrixFilter trying to progressively reduce the saturation and/or contrast. (the example above is applying a filter with -10 contrast every frame). I'm trying paletteMap now, and I'm sensing this could be the way to go, but I haven't been able to get it... any ideas?

• How can I graph the Lines of Code history for git repo?

  Basically I want to get the number of lines-of-code in the repository after each commit. The only (really crappy) ways I have found is to use git filter-branch to run "wc -l *", and a script that run git reset --hard on each commit, then ran wc -l To make it a bit clearer, when the tool is run, it would output the lines of code of the very first commit, then the second and so on.. • Interpreting Search Results

  Hi all, I am tasked with writing a program that, given a search term and the HTML source of a page representing search results of some unknown search engine (it can really be anything, a blog, a shop, Google, eBay, ...), needs to build a data structure of the results containing "what's in the results": a title for earch result, the "details" link, the position within the results etc. It is not known whether the results page contains any of the data at all, and whether there are any search results. The goal is to feed the data structure into another program that extracts meaning. What I am looking for is not BeautifulSoup or a RegExp but rather some clever ideas or algorithms on how to interpret the HTML source. What do I do to find out what part of the page constitutes a single result item? How do I filter the markup noise to extract the important bits? What would you do? Pointers to fields of research covering what I try to to are aly greatly appreciated. Thanks, Simon

I only want see if there only in CMHT or medic not both. Would the right direction be using sub query to filer it out? I've done a search on NOT IN but how could you get to see check if its in more then 2 teams are not? I'm need to write an stored procedure for SQL Server 2008 for performing some huge select query and I need filter it results with specifying filtering type via procedure's parameters (parameterize where clause).   We have spring 3.0.x based application, we use SimpleMappingExceptionResolver which sends emails on an exception, when the exception happens within the DispatcherServlet. This gives us following flexibility: Subject can include who the logged in user is, so that we can send personalized email to the user Subject also includes the server on which the error occurred The request params, request url, and headers -- helped us find some problems when search engine indexing the site. However, lately we have been finding the exceptions have been occurring in the filters, and since this is not going through the Resolver, we dont get any emails. We dont like the log4j email appender solution, and not writing another filter to send emails seems right. Is there an accepted pattern to resolve this issue

  I'm writing a small utility to capture all requests made to a web server from a windows application using the axWebBrowser control. So far I have the following working, as the user traverse the website clicking on links, posting forms etc I capture the webpage and the data being send to the server to request the next page. Where I run into a stumbling block is when it comes to Ajax calls. There are number of drop down boxes that filter down the selection as the user types in the search term, I would like to capture the page/script that is called and the data being send. • Whats wrong with this task queue setup?

  I've setup this task queue implementation on a site I host for a customer, it has a cron job which runs each morning at 2am "/admin/tasks/queue", this queues up emails to be sent out, "/admin/tasks/email", and uses cursors so as to do the queuing in small chunks. For some reason last night /admin/tasks/queue kept getting run by this code and so sent out my whole quota of emails :/. • Geolocation under firefox 3.6 requires Proxy Authentication?

  I am trying to share my location on geolocation enabled pages from firefox 3.6, but doesn't seem to get any kind of success or failures. When I wrote my custom js containing navigator.geolocation.getCurrentPosition(func1,func2), the success callback isn't called at all. When I tamper the http requests on firefox, the request to https://www.google.com/loc/json returns with status: 407 [Proxy Authentication Required ( The ISA Server requires authorization to fulfill the request. Access to the Web Proxy filter is denied. )]... Yes, my network is behind a proxy server. But the same works with Chrome. I didn't try other browsers yet.

When I resize the Form of my Device, the Draw method is still called, but doesnt throw an Exception, it looks like this: device.Clear(ClearFlags.Target, Color.Red, 0, 0); device.BeginScene(); // here is out commented code device.EndScene(); device.Present(); In another method, I wrote this: renderToSurface.BeginScene(surfaces[currentIndex]); // here is out commented code renderToSurface.EndScene(Filter.None); and this method seems to throw a nullpointer exception when I resize the window; So my question is: - where to reset / restore / handle the renderToSurface class?   Hi, I'm rather new to Haskell. The problem is to find the sum of all even Fibonacci numbers not greater than 4 million. I can't use lists. If I understand correctly, the below solution is wrong, because it uses lists: my_sum = sum $ filter (even) $ takeWhile (< 4000000) fibs Where fibs is the list of all Fibonacci numbers. Somehow, I find it difficult not to think in Haskell in terms of lists. Could anyone guide me to a solution to this problem? Regards
