    Hello For an embedded system with internet (which works under a set-top box) I want to develop a primitive Facebook interface where users can type their user-names and password, showing their latest notificationsa, messages and other casual stuff via the recent Facebook Graph API. This middleware program uses Java ME to run programs (such as this simple facebook app) and it can connect to internet however it doesn't have a real web browser. Under this circumstance, is it possible to achieve such Facebook application? If you think so, what approach would you suggest ? Thanks

    Is there any free Java library for extracting text from PDF, that is compatible with Google Application Engine? I've read about PDFJet, but it can't read PDF, can it? Is there perhaps other way how to extract text from PDF? I tried http://www.pdfdownload.org/, unfortunately they don't handle non-English characters correctly.

    I want to set text above and below a JButton's icon. At the moment, in order to achieve this, I override the layout manager and use three JLabel instances (i.e. 2 for text and 1 for the icon). But this seems like a dirty solution. Is there a more direct way of doing this? Note -I'm not looking for a multi-line solution, I'm looking for a multi-label solution. Although this article refers to it as a multi-line solution, it actually seems to refer to a multi-label solution.     Posting a video on tumblr.com allows you to just paste the URL of the video on youtube, vimeo, whatever and tumblr automatically does the embedding for you. I assume that this would be nothing more than a mapping between an URL-regex and the belonging HTML construct for embedding the video. Or it is just parsing the response of the URL and getting the construct from there. Is there already any utility, preferably in Java, for doing this? If not, how would you do it?

    How does one convert an empty string to an int using Struts2. When the application encounters this parameter with no value, like from an empty text field, it throws the following exception. java.lang.NoSuchMethodException: com.XXXXXXXXXXXX.setID([Ljava.lang.String;) Where ID is an integer, and the URL is: Something.action?ID=&other=rawr Is there a way to do this without using an Integer (class)? Do I have to write a type converter?

I can code simple things using apple script but you can't do that much with that and it only works on macs. I have a mac and a dell so something that I could code and run on both would be nice.     Suppose I have a Java method that returns a HashMap object. Because a LinkedHashMap is a subclass of HashMap, I can return a LinkedHashMap from this method just fine. On the next "read" action (no adding/removing/modifying of K/V pairs), would iterating over the keys of the resulting method (which returns a HashMap) go in the same order as the originating LinkedHashMap, even though the HashMap lacks the key links?
