  • Size SKU in Magento

    - by latvian
Hi, How can I allow SKU be longer than 34 characters (for simple products) for all products? When i add new product(simple) and enter more than 34 characters, Magento cuts it to 34 after saving. In the database the 'sku' attributes ( for quete item, order item, invoice item, shipment item) from eav_attribute table hold varchar(255). For Catalog_Product_Entity the attributed is VarChar(64). In either case, it is more than 34characters. Thus, I could change SKU to 64 characters without making any change in database, correct? How do i do that? I have good understanding of the user side magento code, but not Admin side. Can you suggest me good tutorial on making changes in Admin side that could help me figure this question myself. Thank you, Margots

  • SQL Azure server as unit of billing

    - by vtortola
Hi, One of the azure training kit presentation says: Each account has zero or more logical servers Provisioned via a common portal Establishes a billing instrument Each logical server has one or more databases Contains metadata about database & usage Unit of authentication, geo-location, billing, reporting Generated DNS-based name Each database has standard SQL objects Users, Tables, Views, Indices, etc Unit of consistency So now I'm lost :D. Were not the databases themselves the units of billing? I mean, I thought that servers were just like logical containers and you were charged per number and size of databases. How servers are billed? Thanks.

  • Longish list of allowed referrers

    - by Tim
I want to allow hotlinking only from a list of referrers (paying customers, probably a few hundred). I am on Apache 1.3 and I do not have access to the configuration (only .htaccess). What is the fastest way to implement this? My thoughts so far: PHP with database and readfile() (SSI with) Perl and database the list implemented as symlinks named after the allower referrer, then RewriteCond using HTTP_REFERER everything in .htaccess, lots of RewriteCond's everything in .htaccess, lots of SetEnvIf's Any better (faster) ways to do this? Thanks!

  • SQLCe local db in temp- path in connectionstring?

    - by Petr
Hi, I have SQL Ce db in my app, which is included in my app directory. While debugging its OK, but when published and run with setup.exe, it retrieves "file not found" in temporary directory the app is ran from. I would like to run from standard location, but I dont know how to change it. I am using this string: SqlCeConnection connection = new SqlCeConnection("Data Source=database.sdf;Persist Security Info=False;"); When I run setup.exe, the app never starts, stating that in its temporary directory the db file was not found. When I run app.exe, it works. I do not understand it...:( EDIT: I can see that in the VS project settings, there is connection string and there is "Data Source=|DataDirectory|\Database.sdf" The path should be something like local directory? Thanks!

  • How to use Zend_Cache Identifier ?

    - by ArneRie
Hi Folks, i think iam getting crazy, iam trying to implement Zend_Cache to cache my database query. I know how it works and how to configure. But i cant find a good way to set the Identifier for the cache entrys. I have an method wich search for records in my database (based on an array with search values). /** * Find Record(s) * Returns one record, or array with objects * * @param array $search Search columns => value * @param integer $limit Limit results * @return array One record , or array with objects */ public function find(array $search, $limit = null) { $identifier = 'NoIdea'; if (!($data = $this->_cache->load($identifier))) { // fetch // save to cache with $identifier.. } But what kind of identifier can use in this situation?

  • Why does tokyo tyrant slow down exponentially even after adjusting bnum?

    - by HenryL
Has anyone successfully used Tokyo Cabinet / Tokyo Tyrant with large datasets? I am trying to upload a subgraph of the Wikipedia datasource. After hitting about 30 million records, I get exponential slow down. This occurs with both the HDB and BDB databases. I adjusted bnum to 2-4x the expected number of records for the HDB case with only a slight speed up. I also set xmsiz to 1GB or so but ultimately I still hit a wall. It seems that Tokyo Tyrant is basically an in memory database and after you exceed the xmsiz or your RAM, you get a barely usable database. Has anyone else encountered this problem before? Were you able to solve it?

  • Passing extended parameter into Sql 2008 connection string

    - by Pita.O
Hi, I have a need to support extensive auditing capabilities for a system backing into Sql Server 2008. Since I plan to use LINQ (with no Stored Procs), the database would be a clean, zero contact data repository. However, I need to pratically record a snapshot of every change that happens in the db. So, I thought I should use triggers. But then, I need a user id for the particular user (not the connection string user id) to flow through into the database. In oracle, I should have been able to set up a PROXY USER and the trigger would be able to pick that up. Last I checked, there was no proxy user concept in Sql Server. Does anyone know if there's any extender property I can use to flow through my authenticated user name? ps: I don't mind the impact on connection pooling (if any). Thanks. P

  • entity framework and dirty reads

    - by bryanjonker
I have Entity Framework (.NET 4.0) going against SQL Server 2008. The database is (theoretically) getting updated during business hours -- delete, then insert, all through a transaction. Practically, it's not going to happen that often. But, I need to make sure I can always read data in the database. The application I'm writing will never do any types of writes to the data -- read-only. If I do a dirty read, I can always access the data; the worst that happens is I get old data (which is acceptable). However, can I tell Entity Framework to always use dirty reads? Are there performance or data integrity issues I need to worry about if I set up EF this way? Or should I take a step back and see about rewriting the process that's doing the delete/insert process?

  • generating dynamic word documents for mass mailing

    - by bluesystem
I need to generate a mass mailing based on a word document model with PHP. Given is a database with the adresses and the data that need to be filled in my word model. I want to generate a single word document with the different adresses and field contents from the database. We have a Linux server and the COM object is not avalaible. Is there a ready to use class to do this? Did you had any experiance with PHPWord? What is the best practice in this case? In the ideal case the client should just upload th word master document, with the fields that need to be filled and then fusioned to a multiple pages word document containing the whole mailing.

  • will_paginate without use of activerecord

    - by truthSeekr
I apologize if this is a trivial question or my understanding of rails is weak. I have 2 actions in my controller, index and refine_data. index fetches and displays all the data from a database table. refine_data weeds out unwanted data using regex and returns a subset of the data. Controller looks like: def index Result.paginate :per_page => 5, :page => params[:page], :order => 'created_at DESC' end def refine_data results = Result.all new_results = get_subset(results) redirect_to :action => 'index' end I would like to redirect the refine_data action to the same view (index) with new_results. As new_results are not from the database table (or model), how do I go about constructing my paginate?

  • Php getting too many connections error from MySQL

    - by uzioriluzan
Hello everyone, I am using MySQL and PHP with 2 application servers and 1 database server. With the increase of the number of users (around 1000 by now), I'm getting the following error : SQLSTATE[08004] [1040] Too many connections The parameter "max_connections" is set to "1000" in my.cnf and "mysql.max_persistent" is set to -1 in php.ini. There are at most 1500 apache processes running at a time since the "MaxClients" apache parameter is equal to 750 and we have 2 application servers. Should I raise the "max_connections" to 1500 as indicated in here? Or should I set "mysql.max_persistent" to 750 (we use PDO with persistent connections for performance reasons since the database server is not the same as the application servers)? Or should I try something else? Thanks in advance!

  • Forced closed only when put alphabetical string in edit text

    - by Abdullah Al Mubarok
So, I make a checker if an id is in the database or not, the id is in numerical string, the type in database is char(6) though. So this is my code public class input extends Activity{ /** Called when the activity is first created. */ @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.input); final EditText edittext = (EditText)findViewById(R.id.editText1); Button button = (Button)findViewById(R.id.button1); button.setOnClickListener(new OnClickListener(){ @Override public void onClick(View arg0) { // TODO Auto-generated method stub String nopel = edittext.getText().toString(); if(nopel.length() == 0){ Toast.makeText(getApplicationContext(), "error", Toast.LENGTH_SHORT).show(); }else{ List<NameValuePair> pairs = new ArrayList<NameValuePair>(); pairs.add(new BasicNameValuePair("nopel", nopel)); JSON json_dp = new JSON(); JSONObject jobj_dp = json_dp.getJSON("http://10.0.2.2/KP/pdam/nopel.php", pairs); try { if(jobj_dp.getInt("row") == 0){ Toast.makeText(getApplicationContext(), "error", Toast.LENGTH_SHORT).show(); }else{ String snopel = jobj_dp.getString("nopel"); String snama = jobj_dp.getString("nama"); String salamat = jobj_dp.getString("alamat"); String sgolongan = jobj_dp.getString("golongan"); Intent i = new Intent(input.this, list.class); i.putExtra("nopel", snopel); i.putExtra("nama", snama); i.putExtra("alamat", salamat); i.putExtra("golongan", sgolongan); startActivity(i); } } catch (JSONException e) { // TODO Auto-generated catch block e.printStackTrace(); } } } }); } } the first check is to check if an input is null, it's going right for now, the second check is to check if an id in the database, and it's the problem. When I try some id in numerical value like "0001" or "02013" it's fine, and can run. but when I just got to put "abushd" it forced close. anyone know why I got this?

  • In MYSQL is it better to have one big table or many smaller tables

    - by user307922
Hi All, I am making a database of my client's customers to send email promotions to. The database will include all about 12 of my clients and each of them has an average of 2100 customers. I was wondering if it would be better to have a table in the db for each one of my clients that contains a list of their customers or if I should just make one big table... The customers will be queried daily. I know it is a broad question but any advice would be appreciated. Cheers, Chuck

  • ASP.Net / MySQL : Translating content into several languages

    - by philwilks
I have an ASP.Net website which uses a MySQL database for the back end. The website is an English e-commerce system, and we are looking at the possibility of translating it into about five other languages (French, Spanish etc). We will be getting human translators to perform the translation - we've looked at automated services but these aren't good enough. The static text on the site (e.g. headings, buttons etc) can easily be served up in multiple languages via .Net's built in localization features (resx files etc). The thing that I'm not so sure about it how best to store and retrieve the multi-language content in the database. For example, there is a products table that includes these fields... productId (int) categoryId (int) title (varchar) summary (varchar) description (text) features (text) The title, summary, description and features text would need to be available in all the different languages. Here are the two options that I've come up with... Create additional field for each language For example we could have titleEn, titleFr, titleEs etc for all the languages, and repeat this for all text columns. We would then adapt our code to use the appropriate field depending on the language selected. This feels a bit hacky, and also would lead to some very large tables. Also, if we wanted to add additional languages in the future it would be time consuming to add even more columns. Use a lookup table We could create a new table with the following format... textId | languageId | content ------------------------------- 10 | EN | Car 10 | FR | Voiture 10 | ES | Coche 11 | EN | Bike 11 | FR | Vélo We'd then adapt our products table to reference the appropriate textId for the title, summary, description and features instead of having the text stored in the product table. This seems much more elegant, but I can't think of a simple way of getting this data out of the database and onto the page without using complex SQL statements. Of course adding new languages in the future would be very simple compared to the previous option. I'd be very grateful for any suggestions about the best way to achieve this! Is there any "best practice" guidance out there? Has anyone done this before?

  • Can I Use ASP.NET Wizard Control to Insert Data into Multiple Tables?

    - by SidC
Hello All, I have an ASP.NET 3.5 webforms project written in VB that involves a multi-table SQL Server insert. That is, I want the customer to input all their contact information, order details etc. into one control (thinking wizard control). Then, I want to call a stored procedure that does the insert into the respective database tables. I'm familiar and comfortable with the ASP.NET wizard control. However, all the examples I've seen in my searches pertain to inserting data into one table. Questions: 1. Given a typical order process - customer information, order information, order details - should a wizard control be used to insert data into multiple database tables? If not, what controls/workflow do you suggest? 2. I've set primary keys and indexes on my order details, orders and customers tables. Is there special stored procedure syntax to use to ensure that referential integrity is maintained through the insert process? Thanks, Sid

I'm trying to do something like this: mysql_connect(localhost,$username,$password); @mysql_select_db($database) or die ("Did not connect to $database"); mysql_query("AVG(column1) FROM table1 ") or die(mysql_error()); mysql_close(); echo AVG(column1); (Q1)I'd like to see the value printed in the screen, but i'm getting nothing but an error message. • MD5 hash validation failing for unknown reason in PHP

    - by Sennheiser
I'm writing a login form, and it converts the given password to an MD5 hash with md5($password), then matches it to an already-hashed record in my database. I know for sure that the database record is correct in this case. However, it doesn't log me in and claims the password is incorrect. Here's my code: $password = mysql_real_escape_string($_POST["password"]); ...more code... $passwordQuery = mysql_fetch_row(mysql_query(("SELECT password FROM users WHERE email = '$userEmail'"))); ...some code... elseif(md5($password) != $passwordQuery) { $_SESSION["noPass"] = "That password is incorrect."; } ...more code after... I tried pulling just the value of md5($password) and that matched up when I visually compared it. However, I can't get the comparison to work in PHP. Perhaps it is because the MySQL record is stored as text, and the MD5 is something else?

  • Is Amazon SQS the right choice here? Rails performance issue.

    - by ole_berlin
I'm close to releasing a rails app with the common networking features (messaging, wall, etc.). I want to use some kind of background processing (most likely Bj) for off-loading tasks from the request/response cycle. This would happen when users invite friends via email to join and for email notifications. I'm not sure if I should just drop these invites and notifications in my Database, using a model and then just process it with a worker process every x minutes or if I should go for Amazon SQS, storing the messages and invites there and let my worker retrieve it from Amazon SQS for processing (sending the invites / notifications). The Amazon approach would get load off my Database but I guess it is slower to retrieve messages from there. What do you think?

  • JsonStore.insert() causes exception in extjs

    - by kalan
I have an EditorGridPanel with toolbar button to add new records. Everything works fine except one scenario. When I try to insert a record which already exists in database, server sends back: {"success":false,"message":"already exists","data":{}} but grid creates a new row marked with red triangle. If after that I try to insert a new record (even if it doesn't exist in database), everything works fine on the server side, but i get an 'uncaught exception' in firebug. It says: 'uncaught exception: Ext.data.DataReader: #realize was called with invalid remote-data. Please see the docs for DataReader#realize and review your DataReader configuration.' why is that?

  • Attaching catalog with SQL Authentication credentials attaches it as Read-Only

    - by Nissim
Hello, As part of our product's installation process, a database is attached to the server. We use EXEC sp_attach_db in order to attach it to MSSQL. The problem occures when we try to attach it with "SQL Authentication" connection string - the database is attached to the server as read-only, thus preventing any write access from being performed This is driving us nuts... it's working just fine with Windows Authentication, and the only difference is the connection string... I tried googling for it but no mention for such a scenario is found. Any ideas anyone? It's important to mention that the MDF/LDF physical files are not set with "ReadOnly" attribute, so this is not the problem.

  • Can I improve performance by refactoring SQL commands into classes?

    - by Matthew Jones
Currently, my entire website does updating from SQL parameterized queries. It works, we've had no problems with it, but it can occasionally be very slow. I was wondering if it makes sense to refactor some of these SQL commands into classes so that we would not have to hit the database so often. I understand hitting the database is generally the slowest part of any web application For example, say we have a class structure like this: Project (comprised of) Tasks (comprised of) Assignments Where Project, Task, and Assignment are classes. At certain points in the site you are only working on one project at a time, and so creating a Project class and passing it among pages (using Session, Profile, something else) might make sense. I imagine this class would have a Save() method to save value changes. Does it make sense to invest the time into doing this? Under what conditions might it be worth it?

  • Reflection & Parameters in C#

    - by Jim
Hello, I'm writing an application that runs "things" to a schedule. Idea being that the database contains assembly, method information and also the parameter values. The timer will come along, reflect the method to be run, add the parameters and then execute the method. Everything is fine except for the parameters. So, lets say the method accepts an ENUM of CustomerType where CustomerType has two values of CustomerType.Master and CustomerType.Associate. EDIT I don't the type of parameter that will be getting passed in. ENUM used as an example END OF EDIT We want to run Method "X" and pass in parameter "CustomerType.Master". In the database, there will be a varchar entry of "CustomerType.Master". How do I convert the string "CustomerType.Master" into a type of CustomerType with a value of "Master" generically? Thanks in advance, Jim

  • EntityFramework: Access dabase-column using user defined Type

    - by Nils
I "inherited" an old Database where dates are stored as Int32 values (times too, but dates shall suffice for this example) i.e. 20090101 for Jan. 1st 2009. I can not change the schema of this database because it is still accessed by the old programs. However I want to write a new program using EF as the O/R-M. Now I'd love to have DateTime-Values in my Model. Is there a way to write a custom type and use this as a Type in the EF-Model. Something like a Type "OldDate" with properties: DatabaseValue : Int23 Value : DateTime (specifying the date-part whereas the time-part is always 0:00:00) Is something like this possible with the EF-Model ?
