• Postback of delimited text from javascript and parsing on server side

  In my ASP.NET page, I have a Javascript object, like this: var args = new Object(); args.Data1 = document.getElementById("Data1").value; args.Data2 = document.getElementById("Data2").value; args.Data3 = document.getElementById("Data3").value; The object is populated on client side using user input data. I am passing the data to a C# method, through an Ajax request: someObj.AjaxRequest(argsData1 + "|" + argsData2 + "|" + argsData3) Finally, I need to obtain the data in my C# code: string data1 = [JS args.Data1] string data2 = [JS args.Data2] string data3 = [JS args.Data3] My question is what's the best solution for this? As i am concatenating bits of user input, I don't think it's best to use "|" as a delimiter. Also, it's not clear to me how to actually parse the data in my C# code to populate the three variables with the original data.

  Using MySql 5, I have a task where I need to update one table based on the contents of another table. For example, I need to add 'A1' to table 'A' if table 'B' contains 'B1'. I need to add 'A2a' and 'A2b' to table 'A' if table 'B' contains 'B2', etc.. In our case, the value in table 'B' we're interested is an enum. Right now I have a stored procedure containing a series of statements like: INSERT INTO A SELECT 'A1' FROM B WHERE B.Value = 'B1'; --Repeat for 'B2' -> 'A2a'; 'B2' -> 'A2b'; 'B3' -> 'A3', etc... Is there a nicer more DRY way of accomplishing this? Edit: There may be values in table 'B' that have no equivalent value for table 'A'.

  Hello, I have been using xVal with success for a while but this evening ran into an issue where a field containing a period would not be validated (client or server-side). I am using ASP.NET MVC2 and need to use the period syntax in cases where I am model binding to a list. In the below example I am using a textbox for the sake of simplicity: xVal.AttachValidator(null, { "Fields": [{ "FieldName": "entry[622592].Value", "FieldRules": [{ "RuleName": "Required", "RuleParameters": {}}]}] }, {}) <input type="text" class="text" name="entry[622592].Value"/> If I replace both instances of "entry[622592].Value" to something trivial like "test" then the validation works successfully, but if i leave it this way the validation never appears to fire... • Passing report values to a query

  I'm a novice with Microsoft Access as my background is mostly .NET. I'm sure what I'm trying to accomplish is dead simple but I need some direction. I have a report and a query. The query returns a single numeric value based on a single numeric criteria. Select total from table where id = [topic] I have placed a text box on my report so I can feed the id to this query and in return get the total. It seems like DLookUp is what I want but no matter how I construct it, I get an "#Error" in the text box when I run the report. Currently my DLookUp looks like this (I just hard-coded now for simplicity): =DLookUp("[total]","myquery","[topic] = 3") How can I pass a value from a field on my report to a query so I can return the query's single numeric value? • Form Submitting Incorrect Information to MySQL Database

  I've created a form that submits data to a MySQL database but the Date, Time, Year and Month fields constantly revert to the exact same date (1st January 1970) despite the fact that when I submit the information to the database the form displays the current date, time etc to me. I've already set it so that the time and date fields automatically display the current time and date. Could someone please help me with this. • Is dynamic evaluation of xpath variable string possible using .net 2.0 xslt implementation?

  Hi, I'm trying to evaluate an xpath varable I'm building dynamically based on the position of the node. I can create the xpath string in a variable but when I select the value of this just get the string and not the node set I need. I use the following to create the xpath <xsl:variable name="xpathstring" select="normalize-space(concat(&quot;//anAttribute[@key='pos&quot;,position(),&quot;']&quot;))"/> and try to output the value with the following. <xsl:value-of select="$xpathstring"/> If I execute the xpath in my debugger I get the nodeset but in my xml output only get the xpath string which looks like this //anAttribute[@key='pos1'] I had a look at exslt dyn:evaluate which seems to enable this but this seems to be only supported by certain processors and doesn't provide a standalone implementation or at least as far as I could see (currently using the standard .net 2.0 xslt whihc is only xslt 1.0 as far as I recall) Is there anyway to handle this without changing processor? • Rails model to represent multiple fields

  I'm developing a rails project where I have one data model with multiple fields that are collection selects. I'd like to create another model to represent all of these collection select fields. So, for instance, my main data model has three collection select fields -- one for county, one for category, and one for classification. I could separate these into three separate data models, but that seems redundant since they all share the same characteristics. They have a type and a value, like a county is a county and it has a value of let's say Sonoma, just as category has a type of category and a value of let's say Winery. If you've ever used Drupal, I'm basically looking for the behavior of the taxonomy functionality. So you see my dilemma: I need to separate these fields into three separate fields but they have very similar data structures. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

  Running into an odd . . . loop when trying to view a model in the Django admin. Trying to look at a Resident in the admin takes 10-20 seconds. If I take 'self.association' out of the __unicode__ method for ResidentialUnit, a resident page renders pretty quickly. Looking at it in the debug toolbar, without the association name in ResidentialUnit (which is a foreign key on Resident), the page runs 14 queries. With the association name put back in, it runs a far more impressive 4,872 queries. The strangest part is the extra queries all seem to be looking up the association name. They all come from the same line, the __unicode__ method for ResidentialUnit. Each one is the exact same thing, e.g., SELECT `residents_association`.`id`, `residents_association`.`jenark_entity_id`, `residents_association`.`name` FROM `residents_association` WHERE `residents_association`.`id` = 1096 ORDER BY `residents_association`.`name` ASC I assume I've managed to create a circular reference, but if it were truly circular, it would just die, not run 4000x and then return. Having trouble finding a good Google or StackOverflow result for this.

  what i want to do is that when you vote Y or N (two different radio buttons) and then it inserts into the "vote" column(in database) = Y or N(what you pickd), if nothing then echo error. I know how to do this like halfway, i never worked with radiobuttons before so i need you guys. Here's a two radio button right: Yes: <input type="radio" value="Y" id="voteYes" name="vote"></input> <br> No: <input type="radio" value="N" id="voteNo" name="vote"> </input> I gave the value N and Y, not the same ID, but the same name. I think its right, but how should i do with the PHP part of what i want to do? I mean shall i call for "vote"? ($_GET["vote"]) i dont think so.. here's where im stuck

• Date or String declaration in a javabean

  Should I declare an attribute in a javabean that holds a date value a user types in on an HTML form as a String or Date? I feel I should declare as a Date, however, since I do server validation on all form data, if the date doesn't validate, when I pass the form bean back to the jsp view for correcting, I lose the date value that the user tried to type in. If I declare as a String, if the date doesn't validate, I'm able to set the string value in the bean and pass the bean back to the view and the user can see what they incorrectly typed. But with a String declaration for Date inputs I forsee problems down the road with my DAO. I want to be able to use a DAO utility which generates a prepare statement using setObject. In my html form I request dates to be mm/dd/yyyy and in DAO i'm using Oracle Date. I can not use hibernate or such, since this is a corporate intranet. What is the best practice "pattern" I should be following??

  Declaring a property in a derived class that matches the name of a property in the base class "hides" it (unless it overrides it with the override keyword). Both the base and derived class properties will be returned by Type.GetProperties() if their types don't match. However, if their types do match, shockingly only the derived class's property is returned. For instance: class A { protected double p; public int P { get { return (int)p; } set { p = value; } } } class B : A { public new int P { get { return (int)p; } set { p = value; } } } class C : B { public new float P { get { return (float)p; } set { p = value; } } } Calling typeof(C).GetProperties() will only return B.P and C.P. Is it possible to call GetProperties() in a way that returns all three? There is almost certainly a way to do it by traversing the inheritance hierarchy, but is there a cleaner solution?

  Hello, I have this very strange error with h:graphicImage This code works fine :- <h:graphicImage value="/Common/Images/#{item.templatePicName}"/> And this one doesn't :- <h:graphicImage alt="${app:getCommonImagePath(item.templatePicName)}" value="${app:getCommonImagePath(item.templatePicName)}" /> It only shows alt value /Common/Images/Sunset.jpg which is perfectly fine and works in 1st case. Then why doesn't it work in 2nd case? There are no problems with my images. • Disable home button in android toddler app?

  I've developed and app that is a slide show of pictures which each play a sound when you tap them. It's like a picture book for ages 2-4. The problem is, since android won't let you capture a home button press and essentially disable it, when parents give the phone to their child to play with unattended (brave parent), the child can inadvertenly exit the app and then make calls or otherwise tweak the phone. There are two other apps that currently have a psuedo fix for this issue. The apps are Toddler Lock and ToddlePhone. I've tried contacting the developers of these apps for some guidance but they haven't been willing to disclose anything, which if fine, but does anyone here have any suggestions? It looks like both of those other apps are acting like a home screen replacement app. When you enable the "childproof mode" on those apps the user is prompted to chose and app for the action and the choices are "Launcher, LauncherPro, etc." plus the toddler app. You then have to make the toddler app the default and voila, the phone is "locked" and can only be "unlocked" using a key combination or touching the four corners of the screen, etc. when you "unlock" the phone. your normal home screen app default restored. You don't even have to make the toddler app the default the next time you enable the "childproof mode". I have read that these two apps have problems with Samsung phones and they can cause an an infinite crash-and-restart-loop that requires a factory reset to fix. Obviously this is not the ideal solution to the problem but it looks like the only one availiable at this point. Does anyone have any ideas on how to implement a "childproof mode"?

All others are 8 bit data bytes. On my system, which is little endian, how would the data be received and stored? Lets say, we are configured to receive 8 bytes at a time. RxBuff is the Rx buffer where data will be received. Buff is the storage buffer where data would be stored. Please point out which case is correct for data storage after reading 8 bytes at a time: 1) Buff[] = {0x34, 0x67, 0x45, 0x89, 0x90, 0xAB....... 0x00}; 2) Buff[] = {0x00, 0x00, .......0x67, 0x89, 0x45, 0x34}; Would the whole 16 bytes data be reversed or only the 2 bytes value contained in this packet?
