Is it possible to run ASP.NET MVC application on UltiDev Cassini webserver?
If so.. are there any drawbacks / things that I need to have in mind when building this app?
I know that there must be some differences. I have a silverlight component (Timeline) and I want to make it work on Mobile 7. do I need to make a lot of changes ? I know .NET and Silverlight but I'm new to mobile phones programming.
So I've seen the following tags in an ASP.NET application and I have no idea what they mean (also I couldn't google them because google doesn't support special char's):
<% %>
<%# %>
<%: %>
<%= %>
and maybe a few more. So what do these do and how are they different from each other?
Hi Guys,
I am using ASP.NET Web forms,
When a user submit a page, an email will be sent to many people which is slowing the post-back,
what is the best way to send the emails without slowing the reloading of the page?
thanks
One year ago Mitchel Sellers had a related question...
I would like to access the Google IMAP for sending and receiving email messages within my custom application.
The point is that i would not like to use any third party controls.
Newer versions of the .Net Framework support IMAP? What options do i have?
We have a website on IIS7 using ASP.NET Routing that seems as though it might be running out of resources.
It just hangs after a few days, there is no error message or apparent crash.
We are making sure every .Open command is matched by a .Close command on the database connection.
We are doing the same with file Open/Close but there are very few of those.
Is there anything else we should check?
Im curious to see if you can overload controller methods in ASP.Net MVC. Whenever I try, I get the error below. The two methods accept different arguements. Is this something that cannot be done?
The current request for action 'MyMethod' on controller type 'MyController' is ambiguous between the following action methods:
I have a large project in Vb.net which drives a web browser control around. What's the best, and easiest, way to manage browser pop ups? Note, I am not just looking to cancel or close them. I need to manage them just like the main window.
I think the Folder upload is supported java applet.
But how can i use java applets in Asp.net c#
Please tell me about this, without the Flash and silverlight.
Do languages become more verbose as they mature? It feels like each new version of VB.net gains more syntax. Is it possible to trim down some fat like the keyword "Dim"? C# also feels like it is getting more syntax since version 1.
I am developing a web form using Visual Web Developer
Currently I have class source files in the same directory as the web form, or in the App_Code folder. I'd like to organise the files into folders within the web form folder, but I can't find a way of adding a reference to the folders, and they don't seem to be being picked up automatically.
These are files that are under constant development.
What is the asp.net/c#'s equivalent concept to c++'s #include?
Hiya,
I am trying to set the focus to the user name TextBox which is inside an ASP.NET Login control.
I have tried to do this a couple of ways but none seem to be working. The page is loading but not going to the control.
Here is the code I've tried.
SetFocus(this.loginForm.FindControl("UserName"));
And
TextBox tbox = (TextBox)this.loginForm.FindControl("UserName");
if (tbox != null)
{
tbox.Focus();
} // if
Hi,
I have an ASP.NET MVC view on which I've placed jQuery tabs. I'm loading the tabs using:
function getContentTab(index) {
var url='<% = Url.Content("~/Books/GetBookTab") %/' + index;
...
}
I have stored the user's default tab selection in the model associated with this view.
My question is this, how can I set the tab number (index) with the number in my model data?
Thanks,
Arnold
Consider multiple domains (with different country extensions) that go to one singe physical website.
Depending on the country extension of the domain, I want to route to a specific subfolder while keeping the active domain!
Examples:
www.mydomain.com/we/about-us.aspx to www.mydomain.com/content/com/we/about-us.aspx
www.mydomain.fr/we/about-us.aspx to www.mydomain.fr/content/fr/we/about-us.aspx
www.mydomain.be/we/about-us.aspx to www.mydomain.be/content/be/we/about-us.aspx
Is this possible with the new web routing features in ASP.NET 4.0?
Thanks,
Nick
I'm frequently adding a lot of content files (mostly images and js) to my ASP.NET project. I'm using VS publish system, and on publish, new files are not published until I include them in the project. I would like to auto include all files in specified directory. Is there a way to specify wich directories should be auto-included in csproj file or anywhere else?
I have a very popular site in ASP.NET MVC/MS SQL, and unfortunately a lot of deadlocks occur. While I'm trying to figure out why they occur via the SQL profiler, I wonder how I can change the default behavior of MS SQL Server when doing the deadlocks.
Is it possible to re-run the transaction(s) that caused problems instead of showing the error screen?
I need to be able to make a program that looks through a mailbox of bounced messages, where the messages come back with the initial message in a .msg attachment, and open the .msg attachment for processing in ASP.NET 2.0. Is there any sort of code that might help in this? I've been looking at http://stackoverflow.com/questions/44383/reading-email-using-pop3-in-c as a starting point, but can't figure out how best to open the attachment from there, or if there's some easier way I'm missing.
I am developing asp.net mvc web app with MongoDB as the data storage.
I want to know others opinion about what drivers to use.
Should I use C# drivers which is supported by community?
Or, should I go to use Javascript driver which is supported by Mongo. How stable is javascript driver?
Thanks in advanced..
I have seen demos of ComponentArt's and Telerik's toolsets.
I am interested mainly on finding a grid control, a tabstrip control, a menu control and a treeview control
Do you know any company besides the forementioned that offers ASP.NET MVC controls solutions?
Which one do you think is the best/most reliable?
how to get varchar as byte[] data using DataReader in Ado.Net? We have tried the following code.
if (!objDataReader.IsDBNull(i))
{
long len = objDataReader.GetBytes(i, 0, null, 0, 0);
byte[] buffer = new byte[len];
objDataReader.GetBytes(i, 0, buffer, 0, (int)len);
}
But the above code gives the error ("Unable to cast object of type 'System.String' to type 'System.Byte[]'.")

Does anyone have an example of how to use MS Sync framework with .NET webservices? I have SQL Server 2008, which is exposing data to BlackBerry devices through webservices using regular web methods. Can I use the Sync Framework to expose data through Web Services and to save it back to the database?
In a .net 2.0 C# application I use the following code to detect the operating system platform:
string os_platform = System.Environment.OSVersion.Platform.ToString();<br/>
This returns "Win32NT".
The problem is that it returns "Win32NT" even when running on Windows Vista 64bit.
Is there any other method to know the correct platform (32 or 64bit)?
Note that it should also detect 64bit when run as 32bit app on Windows 64bit.
I know that .NET assembly is self-descriptive because of the metadata. Now suppose I have a black-box assembly which I know nothing about. Could I find out the types contained in it and use their methods and pass arguments? How? Sampe code snippets will be deeply appreciated.
Many thanks.
