• How can I speed up Netbeans Task Marker resolution?

  I'm trying to quickly navigate and fix problems in code in Netbeans, and it just takes too long. I'll fix a problem, and it will take seconds to re-compile. While this is happening, the marker remains, and all the others that depend on it will too (requiring multiple next-marker key strokes to get to a "new" problem). If I'm doing a fix that changes the number of lines (e.g. organise imports), the markers will navigate to the wrong place, even though the correct text is underlined. Is there a way to speed this up? I presume it's because it's doing a full file compilation via javac to calculate the markers. BUT the information is available in netbeans, because the correct text is underlined, even when the compilation occurs.

• sub menu border calls onmouseout event

  I've created a simple menu and submenu with tags(not allowed to use ul elements). To access the submenu the user hovers their mouse over the menu item. I use the onmouseover and onmouseout events to either show or hide the sub menu depending on which item is selected. A pipe (|) is used to seperate each submenu item and this is what is causing me problems. When a user hovers their mouse above the pipe character the subMenu div calls the onmouseout event which is not what I want. So I added padding around the pipe character and a minus margin so that there were no gaps between the pipe character and the other elements. This worked for all browsers including IE8.   I have a HTML form that is sometimes submitted with accented characters: à, è, ì, ò, ù I have a PHP script that exports these form submissions into CSV format, when I look at the CSV format in a text editor (vim or notepad for example) the characters look fine, but when opened with Open Office or Word, I get some funky results: ????? I am also passing these submission to salesforce and am getting an error: "The entity "Atilde" was referenced, but not declared." What can I do to ensure portability of my CSV file? What's the proper way to handle the encoding? My HTML file is content-type is set as: Content-Type: text/html; charset=utf-8 Data is being stored in MySQL as latin1_swedish_ci collation.

  We were trying to run fllowing code in rake file: directory "tmp" file "hello.tmp" => "tmp" do sh "echo 'Hello' >> 'tmp/hello.tmp'" end We have taken this code from http://jasonseifer.com/2010/04/06/rake-tutorial But, since we are working on windows commands like'sh','echo' wont work.. according to the explanation given for the above code, it should first create a directory 'tmp' and then create a file 'hello.tmp' which will have 'hello' as its text.. Firstly, how can we do this for windows? and Secondly, a file with extension '.tmp' sounds quite wierd.. what does 'hello.tmp' specifies? Does it simply mean that 'hello.tmp' is a text file in 'tmp' directory?

• Issue with blocking the UI during a onchange request - prevents other event from firing.

  I am having issues with jQuery blockUI plugins and firing two events that are (I think, unless I am loosing it) unrelated. Basically I have textboxes with onchange events bound to them. The event is responsible for blocking the UI, doing the ajax call and on success unblocking the UI. The ajax is saving the text in memory. The other control is a button with on onclick event which also block the UI, fire an ajax request saving what's in memory to the database and on success unblock the UI. Both of these work fine separately. The issue arise when I trigger the onchange by clicking on the button. Then only the onchange is fired and the onclick is ignored. I can change the text in the checkbox, click on the link and IF jQuery.blockUI() is present the onchange alone is fired and the save is never called. If I remove the blockUI both function are called. Here's a fully working example where you can see the issue. I am using Struts2 with version 2.1.6. When I leave the input elements such as <s:textfield>, <s:textarea>, etc. of a <s:form> with the default theme, the elements are rendered as: <tr> <td class="tdLabel"><label for="firstname" class="label">Firstname:</label></td> <td><input type="text" name="firstname" id="firstname"/></td> </tr> <tr> <td class="tdLabel"><label for="lastname" class="label">Lastname:</label></td> <td><input type="text" name="lastname" id="lastname"/></td> </tr> Now if i want to add something, say an html label, between the two elements, the result gets messed up as described in the related question above. Another problem is: for the <s:checkbox> item, it is just not possible to add an extra title. • How to diagnose, and reverse (not prevent) Unicode mangling

  Somewhere upstream of me, "something" happened that looks like unicode mangling. One symptom is that a lowercase u umlaut (ü) gets converted to "ü" (ie, character FC gets converted to C3 BC). Assuming that I have no control over this upstream process, how can I reverse-engineer what's going on? And if that is possible, can I crank the sausage machine backwards and get the original text back? (If it helps to understand this case, the text I received was in the form of a MySQL dump. I think somwewhere in the dump/transport process it got mangled.)

I iterate over the first 20 files in dir, and want to copy them to another directory in the dir directory, which I have created right before the iteration. When I run the loop, it only replaces every-other div with an input, but if I run the loop to just replace the class of the div and not change the tag to input, it does every single div, and doesn't only do every-other.
